WWE NXT5.com + TWIW

WWE NXT5.com

Your hosts are Todd Grisham & S. William Regal.

Conor O'Brian vs. Darren Young: Young buries his ex-mentor Chavo Guerrero Jr.(who asked for and received his release this past week), saying he accomplished more in a year than Chavo ever did. Conor overpowers Young in the early going, but Young gets the better of an exchange on the apron with a well-timed Rude Awakening. For his part, Vladimir Kozlov is absent tonight as he's on an overseas tour. O'Brian makes El Big Comeback, but Young counters by throwing Conor into the turnbuckles. He follows up with...the Three Amigos? Wow, insult to injury...and he even goes to the top rope to finish with the frog splash!

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Tyson Kidd: These two have developed a recent rivalry on Superstars.com...and it culminates in a backstage segment where Kidd breaks a Yoshi action figure. THIS MEANS WAR~! Kidd targets the arm after dropkicking Yoshi into the steps outside the ring. The commentators talk up Kidd as usual...fine matchup, need you ask. Yoshi unloads with the educated feet...but Tyson cuts off a turnbuckle move and spikes him with a top-rope Frankensteiner...for two! Sharpshooter attempt is blocked and Yoshi small-packages him...for two. Fisherman neckbreaker is blocked and Yoshi fires off the big roundhouse kick out of nowhere to seal the deal! Regal praises both competitors...too bad they're little.

Titus O'Neil(w/ Hornswoggle) vs. J.T.G.: Emcee Maryse Ouellet joins the commentary team...the leprechaun's had his eye on her lately but she's not interested. Evidently Maryse's dating standards parallel WWE's hiring standards...do the math, she doesn't like short guys. J.T.G. bails out of the ring to halt O'Neil's momentum, but runs afoul of Hornswoggle and gets caught in the Clash Of The Titus for the 1-2-3. Meanwhile, Maryse tears up the note that Hornswoggle passed to her...aww.

Grisham informs us that C.M. Punk has been suspended for his comments on Raw and Vince McMahon will personally address the situation on next week's show.

Anywho, it's elimination time with our emcees Maryse and Matt Striker...with Chavo's depature, I wonder about Young's future. However, it's Conor O'Brian that's going home after lasting far longer than I would have guessed. We're down to Titus O'Neil and Darren Young, but Striker throws a curveball with a late entry into the NXT5 competition: Derrick Bateman(w/ mentor Daniel Bryan)!

Comedy Part 372: O'Comedy

Location: O'Malley's
Emcee: Marcus Newstead
After: Kevin White
Before: Steve Heffernen

Hadn't attended an O'Malley's show(or any bar show, for that matter) in quite some time...their audience has improved quite a bit since I was last there. Did a decent mix of older and newer material and met some cool people who are just starting to try out standup comedy. Need to get some newer jokes out there, hopefully will be able to do more of that at the shows later this week. Sadly, the O'Malley's family is down one bulldog since my last visit there...*sob* Stopped by the Sunday night show at the Westport Funny Bone to catch Tommy Johnagin...full night as Greg Warren did a guest set and Gabe Kea was in town to feature. Anywho, busy week ahead with the Westport Funny Bone tonight, Comedy Etc. II on Wednesday, then a full weekend at Etc. with a "best-of" show on Thursday and Dean Schardan headlining for the rest of the weekend...

WWE Raw

-Shawn Michaels paid a visit only to be interrupted by C.M. Punk and The New Nexus(Mason Ryan was absent due to injury). The confrontation led to Shawn superkicking both David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty just prior to Punk's Raw Roulette match...it was Mystery Opponent.
-Kane d. C.M. Punk by countout when Punk walked out on the match.
-Sin Cara d. Evan Bourne via La Mistica v2.0 in a no-countout match. WOO~!
-Kofi Kingston d. U.S. Champion Dolph Ziggler in a non-title match with Vickie Guerrero barred from ringside; Kofi got the win after Trouble In Paradise.
-Alberto Del Rio d. The Big Show in a cage match after Mark Henry ripped the cage door off the hinges and attacked Show, allowing Alberto to escape through the door to the floor. Afterwards, Henry bashed Show into the side of the cage with the door, causing the entire cage wall to collapse...eep.
-Women's Champion Kelly K d. Nikki Bella(w/ Brie) in a submission match via Boston Crab; Kelly defends against Brie at Money In The Bank.
-Rey Misterio Jr. & Alex Riley d. Mike Mizanin & Jack Swagger in a tornado tag match; Rey pinned Swagger after a 619, an elevated DDT from Riley, and a splash off the top.
-"R-Truth" Ron Killings d. WWE Champion John Cena in a table match(n/t); C.M. Punk interfered, giving Truth the opening to spear Cena through a table in the corner. Afterwards, Punk spoke his mind on a variety of topics...he feels he's the best wrestler in the world and Cena's just the best at kissing Vince McMahon's backside. He's just as good at it as Hulk Hogan, though not quite as good as "Dwayne". He was always hated because he was a Paul Heyman project...so was Brock Lesnar and he bailed too. No matter how many times he proved himself, he was never promoted, never on the collector cups, programs, movies, USA Network shows, talk shows, the show open, the WrestleMania poster, etc. He blames the fans for accepting WWE's product at face value...he wonders if he'll take the belt to New Japan or Ring Of Honor to defend it. Shoutout to Colt Cabana! Vince should be a billionare but he's just a millionare because he surrounds himself with yes-man like John Laurinaitis...maybe it'll be better off once Vince is dead, but then it'll be his "idiotic daughter" and "doofus son-in-law" in charge. He's about to relate a personal story about the anti-bullying campaign, but they cut his microphone...ha ha. Wow.

NWA Anarchy TV #282

Your hosts are Tim E.D. and John Johnson.

Brodie Ray Chase vs. Jeff Lewis for the T.V. Title: Tough test for Brodie against a former multi-time titleholder. Lewis targets the arm for several minutes but the champ makes the one-armed comeback. THE STRAPS COME DOWN~! but Lewis counters out of a double-arm DDT attempt into a Russian legsweep...for two. Lewis sizes up the titleholder and looks to finish with the Roll Of The Credits, but Chase counters out of THAT. Lewis goes uncharacteristically aerial with a half-turn cross-body off the top, but Brodie rolls through to get the three-count and retain his title.

Shaun Tempers meets up with Bo Newsom backstage...talk of small packages abounds. Tempers proposes a "Small Package Challenge" with the lofty sum of $25 on the line. Hey, at least they're realistic...

Enter Youth Gone Wild(Tag Team Champions)...their scheduled challengers(The New Wave) are MIA, sorry to say. YGW are cool with facing Derrick Driver and Steven Walters whenever they return...they're fighting champions, so they issue an open challenge. That brings out Jacoby Boykins...and his new tag team partner Chris Mayne enters from the other side of the building and attacks from behind! They lay out Dustin Knight with a powerbomb/backcracker combo as manager John Johnson observes the proceedings...then take out Anthony Henry with a superplex/Macho Elbow combo. Looks like we have an answer to that challenge...Johnson introduces his new pairing as The Ambassadors.

Kimo vs. Azrael(w/ Dan Wilson): It doesn't take long for this one to get out of control as they brawl on the floor right away. Wilson grabs Kimo's foot to allow Azrael the opening for a cheapshot...thus is the official start of the matchup. Kimo turns it around with Eat-The-Feet and the fight spills out of the ring AGAIN. Azrael neutralizes Kimo with a drop-toehold on the concrete...the two trade chops on the floor and Azrael just barely remembers to break the ten-count. The ref finally leaves the ring to restore order and gets shoved by Kimo, resulting in a no-contest finish. Azrael and The Reverend retreat, leaving Kimo standing alone in the ring.

Ace Rockwell vs. Kyle Matthews: This is another match in the NWA North American Title tournament and Rockwell is the reigning NWA Southern Champion. Shaun Tempers(who defeated Caprice Coleman in an earlier tournament matchup) joins Johnson at the broadcast table...he faces the winner of this matchup in the finals. Haven't seen Matthews in a while...he entered Anarchy as one-half of the Hollywood Brunettes with Andrew Alexander and had a shot or two with Ring Of Honor. Of course the Rockwell-Tempers history is well documented as they started in NWA Wildside/Anarchy as the tag team Pomp & Circumstance and feuded after Tempers double-crossed Rockwell to join the Devil's Rejects.

Feeling-out to start(YAY WRESTLING~!)...Kyle gets a cool Indian Deathlock variant and rolls Ace over into an attempted pinning combination(Rockwell keeps his shoulders off the mat). Cool spot as they both go for armdrags at the same time and drop to the mat in realistic fashion without either man able to execute the move. Matthews opens up greater hostilities with a half-slingshot suplex to knock the wind out of his opponent, focusing his attack on the midsection. Catapult under the ropes does more damage to the gut...meanwhile, Johnson and Tempers wonder what would happen if the match ends in a draw of some sort...Tempers would be North American Champion via bye, would he not? Kyle chokes Ace on the ropes, milking the five-count and keeping the wind out of his opponent...Rockwell finally gets an opening by avoiding a Stinger Splash but can't capitalize as Matthews catches him in an abdominal stretch.

Ace hiptosses his way out of the predicament, but Kyle cuts him off with a jawbreaker and then a dropkick to the CHEST(staying on the midsection!). Just as I say that, he goes for a half-crab...oh well. Rockwell powers out of that and fires up, hitting the Stinger Splash(but not doing himself any favors). The bulldog followup is blocked, as is an attempted O'Connor Roll...and Rockwell eats a close-range superkick(a la Seth Rollins) for a near-fall! Kyle goes topside but Rockwell hits the pop-up superplex! Ace drapes an arm over Matthews...for two. Kyle reverses into a kick to the gut to send Ace through the ropes, but a suplex reversal spot from there sends both men tumbling to the floor!

Johnson and Tempers are psyched about the possibility of a double countout and a default title win for Tempers, but both re-enter at the nine-count. They slug it out and Rockwell clotheslines Matthews to the floor...but Kyle slides in as Ace attempts a plancha. Rockwell lands on his feet, but Matthews nails the Austin Aries-style low-altitude suicide dive! Kyle throws Ace back into the ring but runs into a spinebuster...for two. AIRPLANE SPIN~! by Ace leaves both men dizzy, but Kyle blocks Aces High and gets a bridging back suplex...for two! Rockwell fires back and goes to the top, but gets dropkicked coming down...for two, but the kickout allows Matthews to hook a Boston Crab!

Ace is in the middle of the ring, but he manages to power his way to the ropes. Matthews lines up Rockwell, but Ace collapses to the mat. Kyle makes the mistake of trying to pull him up and Ace grabs him in a jackknife pin attempt, kicking off a series of pin reversals...Matthews nearly gets a backslide, but Ace powers Matthews over and nails the Aces High! 1-2-3 and the tournament final will be Rockwell vs. Tempers! Mutual respect after the match...great showing for Matthews, but Ace is the winner on this night. Tempers approaches the ring to confront his old rival as we fade out.

Next week: Billy Buck & Andrew Alexander vs. The Hate Junkies, falls-count-anywhere.

MECW Special Comment

Interesting show...watched the second half of it with Sean Vincent(insert your own opinions here, LOL).

They seemed to be shorthanded as a total of ten wrestlers worked the show and six of them worked twice(single matches plus the eight-man tag main event). The show had five matches total, which was on par with recent shows. Notable absences included Tag Team Champion Mike Anthony(said to be suspended), Evan Money, Jordan McEntyre, and Chris Logan.

It also seems like they've been short on referees lately...from looking at Youtube videos from the previous show, they were so short on refs that the other wrestlers had to fill in as officials. If any local refs are looking for a place to work, you might want to get in touch with these guys.

MECW only had one ref at the show this weekend and he seemed to be VERY new...in the first two matches, it seemed like DQs were called at odd times and the wrestlers seemed surprised by it when it happened. Set an odd trend for the first two matches of the show to be DQs and THEN a double countout in match three.

Not too familiar with the new crew from Chicago/Windy City other than a few Youtube clips from the previous MECW show. Don't know the name of Mizfitt Manners' valet...would LIKE to know who she is, yeah. *gets smacked* Sorry, redheads are one of my 746 weaknesses.

Unaware of the status of Jimmy Rockwell as he will apparently be absent from MECW long enough to warrant forfeiting the Independent Title. Shawn Santel defeated Mauler McDarby for the vacant belt last month in a match that I would have liked to have seen.

Odd main event with the face team including three guys who were previously major heels(all but Barry Ryte)...and after being the proverbial "bouncing babyface" all night, Allen double-crossed his team. Ouch.

Anywho, next week is Fourth Of July weekend so no one local is running. The rest of July looks like this:

7/8: Dynamo
7/9: SLA, MMWA
7/16: SICW
7/23: IHW, MECW, NMW
7/30: AAPW

SICW Wrestling Explosion

-LaMarcus Clinton d. Classic Champion Ron Powers(w/ Sean Vincent) by DQ; Powers initially won after two piledrivers, but continued the assault on LMC after the bell with Vincent trapping LMC in the figure-four leglock and the referee overturned his original ruling. Chaz Wesson and Chris Hargas made the post-match save.
-Flashback to August 1980: David Von Erich d. Bobby Jaggers with the CLAW~!

Announced for the next East Carondelet show: Powers vs. Wesson, Gary Jackson/LMC vs. Mark Sterling/Sean Vincent, a ladies' match, and an armwrestling challenge from Powers.

Saturday MECW Results From Wood River, IL

The show started with an in-ring ceremony with Missouri Wrestling Revival's Brian Kelley presenting a trophy to Heavyweight Champion Bailey Mannix for being voted the Sexiest Wrestler In The Midwest. (I am NOT telling you who I voted for.) Sinn Enterprises interrupted as Tag Team Champion Sarin Sinn believed he should have been in the running...this led to a brief shoving match with Kelley in which Sinn ended up on his backside. Mannix and Sinn brawled with the champion getting the upper hand.

Eric Allen(w/ Leon Alexander) d. Count Kharfu by DQ to retain the Great Plains Title when Kharfu choked Allen past a five-count. Allen dished out a post-match beating, showing that he's no stranger to fighting dirty...

Mauler McDarby d. Mizfitt Manners(w/ unidentified valet) by DQ when the valet grabbed McDarby's foot as he was attempting to finish off Mizfitt with the heartpunch.

Barry Ryte fought Justin Reno to a double countout.

Shawn Santel d. Buddy Roberts Jr. by rolling through a cross-body off the second rope, retaining the Independent Title.

Sinn Enterprises(Justin Reno, Tag Team Champion Sarin Sinn, Mizfitt Manners, & Count Kharfu, w/ Mizfitt's valet) d. Heavyweight Champion Bailey Mannix, Great Plains Champion Eric Allen(w/ Leon Alexander), Barry Ryte, & Mauler McDarby; chaos broke loose at the end of the match and Reno was able to knock out Mannix with a metal sign(sponsored by Monster Energy Drink!) for the cheap win. Allen seemed to be on the same page as his partners against a common enemy, but midway through the match he kicked Ryte in the lower extremities and walked out on his team.

Set up for 7/23: Mannix vs. Reno and Allen vs. Ryte.

Comedy Parts 369-71: Five Years, Son...Five Years

Location: Westport Funny Bone
Emcee: Steve Poggi
After: Tim Meadows
Before: Gabe Kea

Location: Comedy Etc. II
Emcee: Me
Lineup: Brandon Murphy, Dino, Phil Siglito, Kenny Kines, Brandon White, Matt Idoux, Nick Branson, Brad Ellis, Dominic Cilano, Robert Friday, Brian Kinsella, Kerrie Nieman, Bruce Veach, Landon Meyer, Wicks

Location: Comedy Etc. II
Emcee: Me
Feature: Ben San Del
Headliner: Michael Thorne

June 20th marked the five-year anniversary of my first time on a comedy stage...woo. I've come a long way, but as Thursday indicated, a comedian will never completely stop bombing(more on that in a moment). That was a Monday and I probably should have checked out the O'Malley's open-mic...it's not that long of a drive and I've heard the shows have been getting really good. Did pretty well at the Funny Bone open-mic, at any rate. I really need to work harder on my newer material...again, more on that in a bit.

Wednesday, Landon Meyer wrote me in to host the show...I feel like I did well in that regard. Had a few good quips in between comics. Pretty good audience as several newer people brought friends(WOO~!). Hope we can keep that going in the future...

Art Vieluf asked me to emcee the Thursday night show this week...the crowd was smaller but they seemed to be interested in the show. However, my set didn't go very well...it happens. One audience member who had seen me before said that she had heard my jokes before...I recall doing SOME newer jokes, but I did fall back on my tried-and-true material for the most part. I also stumbled over the headliner's introduction rather badly...ugh. Hopefully I can turn things around in the upcoming weeks...don't know if I'll get any guest sets this weekend or not. May check out one of Tommy Johnagin's shows at the Funny Bone this weekend, will probably stop by Etc. tonight.

Thursday Rasslin TV

WWE Superstars

-Natalya Neidhart, Kaitlyn Bonin, & A.J. Lee d. Alicia Fox, Tamina Snuka, & Rosa Mendes when A.J. rolled up Alicia after a missed axe kick.
-Gail Kim d. Melina Perez via mat crucifix pin after Melina missed a Mafia splits-kick.
-Tag Team Champions The New Nexus(David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty) d. Vladimir Kozlov & Santino Marella(n/t) when an Otunga cheapshot on Santino set up the McGillicutter for the win.

TNA Impact

For the record, the twelve participants in the Bound For Glory Series are: Matt Morgan, A.J. Styles, Rob Van Dam, Phil Gunner, Scott Steiner, Bully Ray, Tag Team Champion James Storm, Tommy "Crimson" Mercer, "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero, Tag Team Champion Robert Roode, Brother Devon, and Samoa Joe.  Scoring:  10 points for a submission win, 7 points for a pinfall win, 5 points for a countout win, 3 points for a DQ win, 2 points for a draw, and you LOSE 10 points for a DQ loss.  The matches count if they're between series participants...only the winner of the fall gets points in a tag match(providing a ripe opportunity for partners to fight over who gets the victory).

BFG Series:  Bully Ray d. Scott Steiner after clotheslining him with a chain.

O.D.B. & Jacquelyn Moore d. Velvet Sky & Miss Brooke Tessmacher when Jacquelyn pinned Velvet after a low punt behind the referee's back(even Taz wondered if that should have really worked).

BFG Series:  Matt Morgan & Tommy "Crimson" Mercer) d. Tag Team Champions Beer Money Inc.(n/t); Roode's arm was still not 100% after his recent injury and that gave Morgan the opening to pin him after the Carbon Footprint.

Shiima Xion(they spelled it differently) won a triple threat match with Federico Palacios(aka Azrieal in east-coast indies) and Dakota Darsow(son of Barry "Smash/Repo Man/Krusher Kruschev/Blacktop Bully" Darsow, had a cup of coffee with FCW) when he pinned Darsow after a 450 Splash.

Winter Lea(w/ Angelina Love) d. Women's Champion Mickie James in a non-title street fight; Winter had the referee distracted(IN A STREET FIGHT), allowing Angelina to hit her new inverted DDT/backcracker finisher on Mickie.  Winter got the win after that.

X-Division Champion Abyss d. Heavyweight Champion Sting by DQ(non-title both ways) when Sting attacked Abyss with his own barbed-wire glove...wait, what?

Announced for next week in the BFG Series:  A.J. Styles vs. Phil Gunner.

Teased for Destination X:  Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn plus A.J. Styles vs. Christopher Daniels(with Samoa Joe possibly thrown in to revisit the most popular series of triple threat matches in TNA history).

NXT & XPlosion

WWE NXT5.com

-Emcee Maryse Ouellet turns down Hornswoggle's Ring Pop gift...heh.  Titus O'Neil's translation efforts are for naught...but we get a visit from O'Neil's previous mentor Zack Ryder.  Ryder's upset that Hornswoggle seems to be getting Titus farther than he did in NXT2...Matt Striker orders a match for tonight.
-Vladimir Kozlov, Yoshi Tatsu, & Conor O'Brian vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr., J.T.G., & Darren Young:  Penultimate elimination is next week...this competition could go in any direction now.  The heels triple-team O'Brian and destroy his leg...even S. William Regal admits that J.T.G. has made some strides in recent weeks.  Conor Flapjacks Young out of nowhere and that finally gives him the opening to tag in Yoshi...the house is on fire!  Hell breaks loose as everyone but the injured O'Brian fights in the ring, leading to Vlad reversing a double suplex by Chavo and Young.  J.T.G. dropkicks Kozlov out, but eats a big roundhouse kick from Tatsu and that's the ballgame.
-Must be sweeps month with all these gimmick Raws...next week is Raw Roulette AND will feature a visit from Shawn Michaels.  Also:  Sin Cara faces Evan Bourne in a "sorry about that Mason Ryan thing" match.
-Titus O'Neil(w/ Hornswoggle) vs. Zack Ryder:  Regal notes that Ryder was trained by his old friend Dave Taylor...was not aware of that.  Notably quite a few fans seem to be behind Zack, to the point of booing in the earlier segment when O'Neil insinuated that Hornswoggle was a better mentor.  Titus dominates and Hornswoggle adds a butt-bite in the corner...okay.  A grass-roots movement has been brewing for Ryder thanks to his Youtube show, resulting in...well, not a whole lot.  Ryder gains control after a blind charge by O'Neil hits a pair of knees...but Titus powers his way back into the match.  Fallaway slam hits, but Ryder rolls out of the ring to regroup.  The two cross paths with the midget and O'Neil's focus is broken by checking on his friend.  Zack gives him a cheapshot on re-entry, then hits the Rough Ryder for the surprise win!

TNA XPlosion

-Your hosts are Jeremy Borash, Taz, and Desmond Wolfe(fare thee well)...
-Alex Shelley vs. Kazuchika Okada:  Wolfe hypes both men's finishers:  Sliced Bread #2 vs. dragon suplex.  Okada works the neck to build to his move...but Shelley cuts him off with a turnbuckle Flatliner.  The moment swings back and forth...Shelley keeps blocking attempts at the dragon suplex and stuns Okada with a superkick, then hits SB#2 for the victory.

WWE Raw

POWER TO THE PEOPLE~!

Kelly K d. Brie Bella(w/ Nikki Bella) to win the Women's Title; Brie blocked a victory roll, but Kelly countered into her own pinning combination for the win.  Other voting choices for the challenger were Eve Torres and Beth Phoenix.

Mason Ryan d. Evan Bourne with the Side Effect.  Other voting choices for Bourne's opponent were Jack Swagger and Sin Cara.

Kane d. Mark Henry by DQ in an armwrestling challenge when Henry attacked Kane...the beatdown continued, ending in a World's Strongest Slam through the broadcast table.  Other choices for the stipulation were bodyslam challenge and over-the-top challenge.

Kofi Kingston d. U.S. Champion Dolph Ziggler(w/ Vickie Guerrero) by DQ in a best-of-three-falls match; other voting choies for the stipulation were submission match and Vickie barred from ringside.  Dolph won the first fall after a Zigzag on the floor; Kofi won the second fall with the S.O.S.  Kofi hit Trouble In Paradise outside the ring but couldn't get Dolph back into the ring fast enough and Dolph was able to get to the ropes.  Ziggler attempted to run away before resorting to blatantly bashing Kingston with a microphone to get disqualified and save his title.  Kofi delivered another Trouble In Paradise after the match.  (Kofi seems to have added a version of Shadows Over Hell to his repertoire...Shadows Over Ghana?)

C.M. Punk won a triple threat falls-count-anywhere match with Rey Misterio Jr. and Alberto Del Rio to earn the next WWE Title shot at John Cena; other voting choices for the stipulation were no-DQ and submission match.  Rey hit the 619 and top-rope splash on Alberto, but Punk threw Rey out of the ring and stole the pin on Del Rio.  Punk's shot will be at Money In The Bank in Chicago...and Punk confided in the audience that his WWE contract runs out that day and he just might leave the company as champion...

Daniel Bryan d. Cody Rhodes via SMALL PACKAGE~! reversal in a no-countout match; other voting choices for stipulation were paper-bag-on-a-pole and "collegiate rules".  Ted DiBiase Jr. helped Rhodes double-team Bryan after the match.

Michael Cole "defeated" Vickie Guerrero in a dance-off; other voting choices for Vickie's "opponent" were Booker T and Jerry Lawler.  Matt Striker was the emcee and somehow decided from the fan response that Cole was the winner, earning Cole a slap from Vickie.  Who do you cheer in THAT situation?

WWE Champion John Cena, World Champion Randy Orton, & Alex Riley d. "R-Truth" Ron Killings, Christian Cage, & Mike Mizanin in an elimination tag match; other voting choices for stipulation were one-fall-to-a-finish and 20-minute time limit(no, REALLY).  Christian pinned Riley after a Skull-Crushing Finale from Miz behind the referee's back.  Cena pinned Miz after an F-U.  Orton pinned R-Truth after an RKO, but Christian speared and pinned Orton right after that.  Christian escaped an F-U attempt, but Randy gave him a parting RKO and Cena made him tap out to the STF.

NWA Anarchy TV #281

Your hosts are Tim E.D. and John Johnson.

Skirra Corvus vs. Bo Newsom:  Corvus is a face by process of elimination...don't see Enoch Tsarion at ringside so that would seem to be a confirmation.  Corvus blitzes Newsom with his unique offense, but Bo blocks a re-entry sunset flip to hit an Air Raid Crash...that'll slow him down.  A reversal sequence ends in Newsom's Beelzebomb(tigerdriver)...for 2 1/2.  Bo sets up for...a tigerdriver off the top?  Skirra fights out of the predicament and delivers a top-rope Frankensteiner, leaving both men down!  El Big Comeback ensues for The Watcher and he Matrixes to avoid a cross-body off the second rope, but a jump off the top rope ends in an inverted atomic drop!  Bo wraps him up with a small package and that keeps him down for the three-count...he's the master of the small package, you know!

Brodie Ray Chase vs. Shaun Tempers(w/ Bo Newsom) for the T.V. Title:  Tempers says that soon EVERYONE will be talking about Bo's small package...har har.  The bell rings...and Chase small-packages him for the three-count?!?  Tempers protests and wants a do-over, then Brodie small-packages him again and the ref makes another three-count.  That was...random.

Kimo vs. Stryknyn(w/ Dan Wilson):  It's looking a bit one-sided, but The Reverend trips up Kimo to allow Stryknyn the opening for a cheapshot.  Wilson gets in a few shots with the Staff Of Righteousness behind the referee's back...but it's not enough to slow Kimo down for very long.  Kimo looks to finish things but Azrael runs in for the DQ.  That touches off a brawl between the two until Strynkyn recovers to un-even the odds...Andrew Alexander hits the ring to run off the heels, continuing his own issue with Wilson's stable.  The two hesitantly shake hands before leaving the ring separately...

Shadow Jackson vs. Jacoby Boykins(w/ John Johnson) for the Heavyweight Title:  ...yeahhhhh, I don't see Boykins winning either.  With Johnson at ringside, Jeff G. Bailey joins Tim E.D. at the commentary table.  Bailey complains about how Shadow needed to use a low blow to beat Se7en for the Heavyweight Title at Hardcore Hell...never mind that it was a CAGE MATCH.  Even Jeff G. doesn't hold any illusion about Jacoby's chances, glossing over the chance of a victory to hope that Jackson simply takes a beating in this match.  Shadow fights out of a bearhug but gets caught in a belly-to-belly suplex and splash...for two.  Jackson does the full-blast Hulk-Up(complete with hand-to-ear gesture)...he slams Boykins, then gets a hold of Johnson to bash him off the apron.  Jacoby delivers a cheapshot, but Shadow reverses into KICK WHAM STUNNER...cover, but he's in the ropes.  Boykins delivers a desperation shot to the throat, but gets caught in the 1031 Spinebuster and Shadow retains his title.

The Usual Suspects(A.J. Steele & Murder One) vs. The New Wave for the NWA World Tag Team Titles:  ...or not, as Derrick Driver is neither present nor accounted for.  General Manager J.T. Talent says Driver had travel problems and won't be able to make it to the match.  He has a suitable replacement for this matchup...

The Usual Suspects(A.J. Steele & Murder One) vs. Caprice Coleman & Steven Walters for the NWA World Tag Team Titles:  Oddity:  Murder One was originally known as Homicide before the other guy with that name hit it big on the national independent scene.  We briefly saw Steele as a member of the NWA Elite while Murder One was a veteran from the days of NWA Wildside.  Johnson notes that the Usual Suspects recently defeated the Dark City Fight Club for the belts...meanwhile, Coleman takes out both champs with a huge springboard plancha!  However, Walters ends up in the wrong corner as Johnson relates more history, noting that Murder One was a Wildside Tag Champ with Kory "Rainman" Chavis(one of the Dark City Fight Club...FULL CIRCLE~!).  Walters finally takes out Steele with a jumping enzuigiri before making the hot tag to Coleman!  Ice is on fire(so to speak) and cleans house, but can't quite seal the deal...He tags Walters back in and they deliver a double Codebreaker(a la New Wave) but Walters only gets a two-count on Steele.  Murder One disposes of Coleman and Walters attempts to backflip out of a back suplex by Steele but lands badly on his head...ow.  The Suspects pounce on their injured opponent, delivering a double chokeslam to give Murder One the pinfall victory over Walters.

WWE Capitol Punishment + SICW Special Comment

WWE Capitol Punishment

-Dolph Ziggler(w/ Vickie Guerrero) d. Kofi Kingston via sleeperhold to win the U.S. Title.
-Alex Riley d. Mike Mizanin with an elevated DDT...wow.
-Alberto Del Rio d. The Big Show via ref stoppage...Alberto got an assist from a pre-match attack by Mark Henry who gave Show the World's Strongest Slam through the Spanish broadcasters' table.  Alberto targeted the bad leg and the official finally declared Show unable to continue.
-Ezekiel Jackson d. Wade Barrett with the torture rack to win the Intercontinental Title.
-C.M. Punk d. Rey Misterio Jr. via Go 2 Sleep.
-Randy Orton d. Christian Cage with the RKO to retain the World Title; Christian's foot was under the bottom rope during the pin but the referee missed it.  Orton BELTed Christian after the match as payback for Christian's previous belt attacks.
-Evan Bourne d. Jack Swagger by countering an anklelock attempt into a victory roll pin.
-John Cena d. "R-Truth" Ron Killings via F-U to retain the WWE Title.

SICW Special Comment

After a text message exchange with Mephisto, we have a verbal truce regarding the incident at last weekend's Dynamo show.  I'll leave it at that...there's too much petty garbage around the independent wrestling scene as it is.

Anywho, SICW was in East Carondelet last night.  Hyped ahead of time were Powers vs. LMC and Jackson vs. Kevin X(there-must-be-a-winner) plus Chaz vs. Vincent.  Had heard on the day of the show that Pete Madden vs. Eric Allen was added to the card, but both were switched to other matches for unknown reasons.  Was still cool to see them both on the show along with Dan Walsh(had heard a few weeks before that he might be there).

The "split" between MMWA and SICW into separate companies continues as both Tim Miller and Ben Simon will be exclusively MMWA now.  Was unusual to not see Tim there.  Briefly talked to Ian Storm and David Cox at the show and spent a lot of the event hanging out with the esteemed Coach Chuck Farley and his kids.

Opener was surprisingly short but effective for Allen's debut.  Archer had a mini-win streak going for a while but seems to have hit the skids in recent months.  He joked after the show about how he worked heel the previous month(teamed with Tony Raze) and was now back to being a face.

Raze-King was a fine matchup...Raze is mixing some old-school Big Boss Man repertoire in with some more varied offense.  He had been finishing with the Falcon Arrow but traded in for the Blackhole Slam variant of the Bossman Slam(short-arm clothesline setup pulled into the move).

DiBiase had some interesting stories about his career, including the WWF's insistence on having him "live the gimmick" of the Million Dollar Man by frequenting the most expensive hotels and restaurants.  Another popular story is that Vince said the gimmick would have been his own if he had been a wrestler...interesting that Vince was thinking of himself in the role of a wrestler even at that point in time.  I was fortunate to get his autograph a while back along with Rick Steiner's on a program from the last WWF show at the old St. Louis Arena where Rick & Scott won the Tag Team Titles from DiBiase and Irwin R. Schyster.

The tag match seemed a bit rough and the ending came out of nowhere.  Credit to the ref for enforcing the rules as Hargas and Waco WERE the legal man though Vaughn and Texan were fighting in the ring.

Chaz-Vincent...have known these guys for quite some time.  They exchanged falls in last month's six-man tag with Dory Funk Jr. as Vincent actually made Wesson tap out to the figure-four(thanks to helping hands from the ring ropes AND Ron Powers) but Chaz countered a second figure-four attempt into a small package for the second fall.  Fine psychology in this one, as you might expect.

I saw LMC's tag match from last month on the Wrestling Explosion TV show and honestly thought he should have pinned Raze for the win to show that he was capable of beating a larger opponent.  Despite his vocal supporters, I don't know if anyone thought he had a legitimate shot against Ron Powers...though next month's match against Chaz might be a bit tougher to predict.  Bit of a style clash here.  Hargas has been getting a good push in SICW and I wonder if he'll be the one to dethrone Powers(if Wesson doesn't beat him to the punch).

Pete vs. Dan was a fine entertaining matchup...we got both the foot-DDT and the fistdrop to the fist out of the Human Wrecking Ball, though the ceiling was a bit low for any potential chairsaults.  Finish seemed a bit off, though both seemed interested in a rematch down the line.  I would not be opposed to that.

The main event was announced with the stipulation "there must be a winner".  Didn't see the point of the countout and restart except to reinforce the stips.  Even with the match setup seemingly guaranteeing a decisive winner, we didn't QUITE get that but Gary did get the victory.  I was fully expecting the double-cross on the post-match handshake but it occurred without incident.

Next week is MECW...several newcomers from the Chicago area have made their mark recently.  That has forced Eric Allen into a temporary alliance with rivals Bailey Mannix, Mauler McDarby, and Barry Ryte against the new stable...interesting.

SICW Wrestling Explosion

-Luke Spencer d. Bobby D via running Blockbuster.
-Karl "Mad Dog" Madetzke d. Fushicho Masuku with a modified bulldog; Claudia Reiff was the referee.
-Flashback to August 1981: Kerry Von Erich wrestled Ken Patera to a time-limit draw.

Saturday SICW Results From East Carondelet, IL

-Eric Allen d. Max Archer with the Shortcut.
-Tony Raze d. Chase King with the Blackhole Slam.
-Ted DiBiase addressed the fans, professing his respect for the St. Louis-area scene and recounting some of the favorite moments from his career, including wrestling Harley Race at the Chase.
-Dave Vaughn & Chris Hargas d. The Big Texan & Waco by countout; Vaughn speared Texan in the ring as Hargas and Waco(legal men) brawled on the floor, but Hargas got the upper hand and beat the count.
-Chaz Wesson d. Sean Vincent by countering a figure-four leglock attempt with a small package.
-Chris Hargas was interviewed...he said that he'd like another shot at Ron Powers since it took some chair abuse and a pull of the tights to end their previous encounter...
-LaMarcus Clinton d. Classic Champion Ron Powers(w/ Sean Vincent) by reversed decision; Powers initially won after two piledrivers, but Vincent put LMC in the figure-four after the bell and Powers continued the assault with the title belt, leading to the referee overturning his original decision.  Chaz Wesson and Chris Hargas arrived at ringside and Powers & Vincent retreated...
-It was announced that Powers would defend against Chaz Wesson at next month's East Carondelet show(7/16)...Powers and Vincent came out to protest.  Powers proposed that future challengers would need to beat him at armwrestling before he would consent to granting them a title shot...
-Pete Madden d. Dan Walsh via jackknife pin.
-Gary Jackson d. Kevin X in a match where there had to be a winner; Kevin X actually won by countout at one point after a superkick outside the ring, but the match was "restarted" per the stipulation.  In the end, Kevin X hit a German suplex and appeared to win the match, but Jackson got a shoulder off the mat while Kevin's shoulders were both down as the referee counted three.  Kevin X shook Jackson's hand after the match and left the ring without incident.

Comedy Part 368: Showcapper Etc.

Location: Comedy Etc. II
Emcee: Landon Meyer
After: Robert Friday
Before: None(on last)

Went on last at the Wednesday night open-mic...and since they had some time to spare, Art Vieluf said I could do a bit more time than usual.  WOO~!  Tried out a few things, including some bits that aren't fully written yet..."so far so good" would be the best way to put it.  Hopefully I'll get to more bar shows in the future so I can see how long of a set I'm capable of doing.  Also want to organize my material so I can remember it more easily.  Think I'm compiling enough job-related jokes that I can categorize them in one group...

WWE Smackdown

-Ezekiel Jackson, Daniel Bryan, & Sin Cara d. Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, & Ted DiBiase Jr. when Bryan pinned DiBiase after a corner dropkick(it looked like a botched call by the referee as DiBiase did kick out of the pin at the last moment, something the commentators acknowledged after the fact).
-Jinder Mahal(w/ The Great Khali) d. Vladimir Kozlov after a JUDO CHOP~! by Khali behind the referee's back allowed Mahal to hit the Sands Of Time v2.0(full nelson slam).
-The Big Show vs. Mark Henry ended in a no-contest as Show destroyed Henry before the bell and knocked him out with the PUNCH, leading to a stretcher job.
-Alicia Fox, Tamina Snuka, & Rosa Mendes d. Natalya Neidhart, Kaitlyn Bonin, & A.J. Lee when Tamina pinned A.J. after blocking a crucifix and hitting the Samoan Drop.
-Jimmy & Jey Uso d. Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater when Jey pinned Gabriel after a splash off the top rope.
-Christian Cage d. Sheamus O'Shaunessy; Sheamus took too much time setting up a superplex and Christian countered by yanking Sheamus down face-first into the ringpost.  That stunned Sheamus long enough for Christian to get the pin; if Sheamus had won, the Capitol Punishment World Title match would have become a triple threat match.  World Champion Randy Orton observed the match from ringside and chased off Christian afterwards...then re-entered the ring and PUNTed Sheamus.

RASSLIN

TNA XPlosion

-Douglas Williams(w/ Brutus Magnus) d. Amazing Red; Magnus distracted the referee as Red had Williams pinned after a flying Infrared off the top rope.  That gave Williams the opening to sidestep a blind charge into the corner and finish with the Chaos Theory.

WWE Superstars.com

-Zack Ryder d. Primo Colon with the Roughryder in front of his hometown Long Island crowd.
-Drew McIntyre d. Vladimir Kozlov with the Future Shock.
-Yoshi Tatsu d. Chavo Guerrero Jr. with the big roundhouse kick.  LINEAR BOOKING~! from Chavo costing Yoshi his match with Darren Young on NXT5.com.
-Kane d. Tyson Kidd(w/ J.T.G.) via chokeslam in a match that was more competitive than you might think.

TNA Impact

-Brother Devon d. Shawn Hernandez(w/ Mexican-America) by DQ when El Anarquia interfered; "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero made the save, interestingly enough.
-Austin Aries won a triple threat match with Kid Kash and Jimmy Rave, pinning Rave after the brainbuster...wait, Aries?  Kash?  Rave?  Ah, Destination X is afoot...
-Sarita Stock & Rosita Fly(w/ Mexican-America) d. Velvet Sky & Miss Brooke Tessmacher to retain the Women's Tag Team Titles; Hernandez & Anarquia were ejected from ringside right aeway, but O.D.B. distracted Velvet and Rosita got the pin on Tessmacher after a flip senton.  After the match, O.D.B. and the returning Jacquelyn attacked Velvet.
-Rob Van Dam d. Samoa Joe with the five-star frog splash in the "Bound For Glory Series"...the participating wrestlers will gain or lose points as a result of their matches from now until No Surrender and the top four point-getters will compete for the title shot at that PPV.
-Phil Gunner(w/ Eric Bischoff) d. Heavyweight Champion Ken Anderson(n/t) with the F-5.

WWE NXT5.com + TWIW

WWE NXT5.com

Talk The Talk Challenge!  Who should be eliminated?  We draw the battle lines between Titus O'Neil/Lucky Cannon and Conor O'Brian/Darren Young...Young decks O'Brian and bails from the ring.  Titus earns more redemption points...he's running away with that aspect of the competition.

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Darren Young(w/ Chavo Guerrero Jr.):  J.T.G. joins the commentary team midway through the match...his protege Jacob Novak is gone in more ways than one(future endeavors and all that).  J.T.G. and Regal snipe at each other for several minutes...Chavo runs interference only to get kicked off the apron, but that allows Young to slam him off the top rope and get the cheap pin.  J.T.G. hits the ring to attack Yoshi, then Young joins the fray when Yoshi starts firing back.  That brings out Vladimir Kozlov & Conor O'Brian and the heels bail.

Titus O'Neil vs. Lucky Cannon(w/ Tyson Kidd):  R-Truth beat up Hornswoggle on Raw so he's not here tonight.  Regal wonders if the midget's absence will affect Titus...we shall see.  Lucky surprisingly dominates, perhaps proving Regal's point...O'Neil finally fires up on offense late in the contest.  Lucky seeks refuge on the apron and snaps the neck off the top rope...but O'Neil escapes a Lucky Strike attempt and hits the Clash Of The Titus for the victory!

Eliminated:  Lucky Cannon?  Really?  Maryse Ouellet seems upset...but it turns out his gift purse was a fraud and she slaps him.

WWE Raw

-Steve Austin was the guest general manager for this three-hour Raw...
-Kane d. Alberto Del Rio(w/ Ricardo Rodriguez) by DQ when Alberto wouldn't release the cross-armbreaker after Kane reached the ropes.  The Big Show made the save after the match and pummeled Ricardo as Alberto ran away.
-Daniel Bryan, Sin Cara, & Ezekiel Jackson d. Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, & Ted DiBiase Jr. when Cara pinned Barrett after a springboard cross-bodyblock.
-Sheamus O'Shaunessy d. Santino Marella via Irish Cloverleaf.
-Rey Misterio Jr. d. Christian Cage by DQ when Christian refused to stop choking Rey on the ropes after the five-count.  C.M. Punk and members of the New Nexus got involved, leading to Misterio taking serious abuse ending in a Killswitch.
-John Morrison vs. "R-Truth" Ron Killings never happened as Morrison was found laid out backstage.
-U.S. Champion Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne d. Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger; Kofi hit a version of Trouble In Paradise from the apron on Swagger, giving Bourne the opening to finish with the shooting star press.
-Rowdy Roddy Piper d. Mike Mizanin via rollup after Miz got into a fistfight with special guest referee Alex Riley.  This match stemmed from an edition of Piper's Pit.
-Kelly K, Eve Torres, Gail Kim, Beth Phoenix, Natalya Neidhart, Kaitlyn Bonin, & A.J. Lee d. Divas' Champion Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, Melina Perez, Maryse Ouellet, Alicia Fox, Tamina Snuka, & Rosa Mendes when Kelly pinned Rosa after the Rocker Dropper.  Typing that sentence took about as long as the actual match.
-C.M. Punk d. WWE Champion John Cena(n/t) via Go 2 Sleep after Cena was distracted by R-Truth harrassing fans in the audience.

Added to Capitol Punishment:  Show-Del Rio, Rey-Punk, Kofi-Dolph.

NWA Anarchy TV #280

Your hosts are Tim E.D. and John Johnson.

Jerry Palmer introduces new owner Franklin Dove...he also presents him with a baseball bat in case he needs to take matters into his own hands.  Jeff G. Bailey interrupts and sucks up to Dove...Dove isn't biting, though.  Bailey brings out The Usual Suspects(NWA World Tag Team Champions), A.J. Steele & Murder One...Dove retorts with the introduction of the new general manager, J.T. Talent!

Talent contemplates who should face the Suspects...maybe the Anarchy Tag Champs Youth Gone Wild?  He decides to give the shot to the New Wave out of respect for his past wars with the team...there you have it.  Bailey freaks out and storms off...then gets even more ticked when the Suspects shake hands with the new owner.

Andrew Alexander is the next to enter...Billy Buck isn't in the house, but he wants a match with The Hate Junkies at the next opportunity.  Talent makes it official for the next show...falls-count-anywhere!

Aden Chambers vs. Jacob Ashworth for the Young Lions' Title:  John Johnson elects to stay at the broadcast position for this one.  Chambers takes control, but wastes time going to the top rope and Ashworth catches him with a pop-up superplex.  El Big Comeback ensues as Johnson sweats it out...powerslam gets a close near-fall.  Ashworth sets up for a back suplex off the top rope but Chambers elbows him to the mat...moonsault misses but Chambers lands on his feet and hits an STO...for 2 1/2!  Double-underhook somethingorother is blocked and Ashworth backdrops the champion...reversal sequence ends in Jacob hitting Ashes To Ashes(full nelson wheelbarrow faceplent), but Johnson runs out and jumps up on the apron to distract the ref.  The distraction is enough for Chambers to deliver a superkick, then follow up with a Death Valley Driver to score the win.

Youth Gone Wild(Anthony Henry & Dustin Knight) vs. The Fabulous Blondes(Brian Rivers & Casey Cage) for the Tag Team Titles:  Knight's plancha attempt is caught by the Blondes, but Henry takes out everyone with a huge no-hands somersault plancha.  The Blondes take over on Knight and target his arm...but a double-team backfires and Henry gets a hot tag!  Stereo enzuigiris take out each member of the Blondes, setting up the double-team Go 2 Sleep and Knight(having tagged in) gets the pinfall on...um, I'll say Rivers.

Caprice Coleman vs. Shaun Tempers, NWA North American Title Tournament:  Johnson informs us that the title was vacated when previous champion The Sheik(not that one) won the NWA World Title from Adam Pearce.  Tempers lures Coleman out of the ring but some fancy maneuvering allows Caprice to gain the advantage.  However, re-entry goes badly as Tempers dropkicks Coleman off the apron, sending him into a bad fall to the concrete floor.  Caprice goes aerial for the comeback, but a Steamboat Press only gets a two-count.  Big kneelift by Tempers gets HIM a two-count.  Coleman delivers a chain of Northern Lights suplexes(Six-Sic-Six~!)...for two.  Tempers kicks him away and does his best to slow the momentum...however, Coleman delivers a huge leg lariat...for two.  Jawbreaker by Tempers and he goes to the second rope, but Caprice recovers and jumps from the mat into a top-rope Frankensteiner!  Cover...gets two.  Coleman goes to the top...swanton bomb misses!  Rude Awakening blocked, snapmare driver misses, flying knee by Coleman hits!  Corner dropkick...misses, and Tempers pulls him down from that position into the Rude Awakening!  That's enough for the three-count...

Triple-Shot Special Comment

Triple Shot Special Comment

IHW

Waterloo draw was a bit lower than their previous show in the venue.

Sucks about Aarons' spinal problems, he was just starting to branch out to work in other parts of the country.

Okay, Espy's the face and Hawkins is the heel in IHW.  *marks scorecard*

Maybe they should have spaced out the McNeil-Hawkins and Espinosa-Karrington matches since they were kinda similar in overall style.

Haven't seen Neil Diamond Cutter at an area show in a while.

No Chris Logan, who was one of the announced tournament participants.

That's honestly the first time I can recall seeing Malaki win a match.

Good to see Justin Wade back in action.

Money-SSK didn't click as well as I thought it would.  Finish seemed to come out of nowhere.

So after Cage and his manager buried Kozina in the opening segment, he was tapping out clean(manager had the ref distracted) and needed to hit him with the belt to win...yeah.

Main event was kind of a schmozz when it was just the three heels in there since the fans didn't have anyone to support...McEntyre went out surprisingly quietly.  Good to see Billy win.

Dynamo

The show started late and went REALLY long...it was loaded with just the tournament but they kept adding to the show.  Time management and all that...

With the thunderstorms outside, I imagine some people were worried about the prospect of another power outage, but thankfully that didn't happen.

The tournament situation itself was funny since Wyatt had just won the vacant NWA Missouri Title after it was forfeited by Davey Vega...but then Wyatt won the NWA Central States Title from Sterling at a Metro Pro Wrestling show which left the Missouri belt vacant AGAIN.

Only missing person from the announced lineup was Cancun Kid...Sean Vincent took his place.

Cool to see Lyte and L.V.K. on the show...Lyte worked the HVW show in Caseyville a month or two ago and apparently both have started training at Dynamo.  They have impressive athleticism but need to learn to work the crowd a bit more.

Odd structure of the semifinals as it was face vs. face(Walsh-Cook) and heel vs. heel(Makaze-Karrington)...but Makaze sold the knee injury well enough to solidify himself as the face by default.

The tag match finish seems to set up Shorty as a potential challenger to Wyatt's title...we shall see.

The events of the night set up the formation of the newly-expanded Ego Express with Greg Jovi officially joining them as their manager and Adam Rich turning heel.  Okay, so THAT'S why they just happened to have two ring announcers(Jovi and Curtis Wylde split the duties for the evening).  I don't know if Sharona's new "commissioner" duties mean he's staying out of the ring for the moment but I guess we'll see.

As for what happened after the show...I was wary of the potential powderkeg with representatives of other area groups in attendance.  Unfortunately, issues surfaced between Wylde and Mephisto afterwards and I ended up in the middle of things.  Should have let other people handle it...and I let my own past issues with an individual escalate the situation.

Broadway

Another lengthy show...

Had seen a few instances in the past where a "larger" wrestler challenged for the Jr. Heavyweight Title...

Outstanding match once again between Espinosa and Vaughn...Espy's win was a bit surprising but fine by me.  Screwy finish...gosh darn it, they'll just have to wrestle each other again.

First time seeing Lucy Mendez live...she and Stacey have fought in Metro Pro though the face/heel roles are reversed.  Match seemed a bit longer than it should have been(more on that later), but the finish using the ropes leaves the door open for rematches.

No Phil E. Blunt(Missouri license?) so Sean Vincent challenged Gary Jackson instead...fine matchup with Jackson winning, after which he threw out a challenge to SICW Classic Champion Ron Powers.  Those two have been feuding for about, oh, a decade or so...

It was pretty late at this point and the fans were getting restless for Rhino's match, but instead got Ace Hawkins vs. Tony Raze.  Not a bad match by any means, of course.

Vaughn had a LONG night with two lengthy matches...the Espinosa match went close to twenty minutes and the Sterling match went at least ten.

No explanation was initially given for the substitution...but after the fact, we were told that Rhino twisted his ankle backstage.  A friend theorized that Rhino had licensing issues and they were trying to stall out the state official, but it didn't work.  Fans were leaving as the show ran later and later...sucks that had to happen.  :P

Anywho, that wraps up the last two weekends...next weekend is SICW with Ted DiBiase, then the week after that is MECW.

SICW Wrestling Explosion

-Johnny Courageous & LaMarcus Clinton d. Tony Raze & Max Archer when LMC pinned Archer after the Macho Elbow.
-Dave Vaughn fought The Big Texan to a double countout.
-Flashback, October 1978: Paul Orndorff & Ted DiBiase d. Harley Race & Bulldog Bob Brown when DiBiase pinned Race with a German suplex.

Saturday MMWA Results From St. Louis, MO + Other Show Results

-Johnny Courageous d. David Osborne with the Sliced Bread #2 to retain the Jr. Heavyweight Title. (Interesting weigh-in system they have there...)
-Tag Team Champion The Big Texan(w/ Tony Raze) d. Max Archer with a double-underhook powerbomb.
-Brandon Espinosa d. Dave Vaughn in a great matchup to win the T.V. Title; Espinosa hung onto the referee to stop a German suplex attempt, then delivered a mulekick out of the ref's field of vision and rolled up Vaughn with a handful of tights for the cheap win.
-Stacey O'Briaen d. Lucy Mendez with a sunset flip out of the corner while holding the ropes for illegal leverage.
-Gary Jackson d. Sean Vincent to retain the Heavyweight Title by escaping a Death Valley Driver attempt with a modified crucifix pin.
-Tag Team Champion Tony Raze(w/ Big Texan) d. Ace Hawkins via Blackhole Slam; Hawkins nearly won after a springboard swanton bomb but Texan pulled him off the cover.
-Mark Sterling d. Dave Vaughn(subbing for Rhino who was said to have twisted his ankle backstage) after a full nelson slam. Rhino was in attendance and signed autographs for the fans.

FCW TV 6/5

Your hosts are Matt Martlaro, Byron Saxton, & S. William Regal.

FCW 15 Champion Seth Rollins & Richie Steamboat vs. Los Aviadores for the Tag Team Titles:  YAY WRESTLING~!  I'm getting a bit better at keeping Hunico and Epico straight.  Regal mentions his feud with Ricky The Dragon and jokes about how he feels old to see Ricky's son in the ring.  The champs show superior teamwork in the opening minutes...but the luchadors bust out some unique maneuvers to turn the tide.  Epico throws Steamboat shoulder-first into the ringpost and delivers a back suplex, establishing the tone of the match as he targets the arm.  Steamboat is able to dropkick Epico out of an aerial move and tags are made on both ends as re revisit the FCW 15 finals!  Seth rallies but they exchange pin reversals and Hunico nearly wins with an up-and-over Code Red.  Rollins O'Connor-Rolls into a Curtain Call...for two.  The luchadors set up a double suplex, but Steamboat re-enters the fray and they send the challengers to the floor with stereo dropkicks.  Stereo dives!

Epico runs Steamboat into the ringpost and the referee gets occupied with checking on him...Rollins sets up Avada Kedavra on Hunico, but it's blocked and Hunico spins him around straight into the Epic Ending(Flatliner) from Epico!  Hunico covers as the ref turns around...2 1/2!  Epico tries for his move again but Seth fires off a jumping enzuigiri.  The ref checks on Epico and Hunico attempts his modified Death Valley Driver, but Rollins escapes it and pushes Hunico forward right into a superkick from Steamboat!  Seth covers Hunico and the ref turns around to count...2 1/2!  The luchadors turn it around and look to finish, but Seth ranas Hunico to the floor as Steamboat cuts off Epico on the ropes.  The champs look for a double superplex on Epico but Hunico enters to powerbomb them all to the mat in a Tower Of Doom!  Hunico goes to the top but misses the Falling Star swanton bomb on Seth...blocks a superkick attempt from Steamboat only to eat one from Rollins...then the champs deliver a double superkick and Rollins gets the three-count!  Outstanding matchup...  #theyreallfired

Backstage, President Steve Keirn meets with General Manager Maxine Perez...the main event is an eight-man tag, but the face side has a mystery partner and Keirn's not telling...

Xavier Woods vs. Michael Tarver:  The fans chant "Nexus Reject"...ouch.  Big fan of these guys...thought Tarver should have been on NXT5(Percy Watson was another candidate that would have been good).  Woods gets too fancy and Tarver kicks him in the gut in mid-leapfrog...that's one way to alter the momentum.  Xavier gets several near-falls in a row but Tarver low-bridges him out of the ring...Tarver follows him out only to get backdropped on the RING STEPS!  Back into the ring, Woods gets a close near-fall...he goes to the second rope for X Marks The Spot, but Tarver blocks it and dumps him on the top rope.  Re-entry suplex attempt is countered by a knee in mid-air and both men drop to the mat...Tarver fires off a body blow and tries another suplex, only to get countered in mid-air into a sick DDT!  Woods gets the cover for the huge upset victory!

Raquel Diaz interviews Jacob Novak(still in his Cryme Tyme gear)...he makes it look good.  Novak decides to call out Regal again...don't know if that's the wisest decision.

Queen Aksana Raudoniene(w/ General Manager Maxine Perez) vs. Naomi Night for the Divas' Title:  Maxine is not above getting physically involved, of course.  Pretty good matchup...Aksana has improved a lot.  Naomi gets a small package but Maxine reaches into the ring to push it over so that Aksana gets the pinfall.  The post-match attack ensues...but A.J. Lee makes the save!  The former rivals stand tall as the queen and G.M. retreat with the title belt in tow.

Titus O'Neil, Roman Leakee, Big E Langston, & Mr. Florida vs. Heavyweight Champion Lucky Cannon, Mason Ryan, Conor O'Brian, & Damien Sandow(w/ General Manager Maxine Perez & Divas' Champion Queen Aksana Raudoniene):  "Newcomer" Mr. Florida is a masked man with taped ribs...Byron immediately speculates that the guy looks familiar(*cough*BoRotundo*cough*).  It's even for a few minutes but some heel subterfuge puts Leakee in the wrong part of town.  Regal guesses the masked man is Yoshi Kwan...bwahahaha.  Saxton demands a birth certificate...TOPICAL~!  Roman gets separation with a huge uppercut on O'Brian...tag to Cannon, tag to Mr. Florida!  The house is on fire and Mr. Florida pins Lucky out of nowhere after a spear!  The heels try a post-match attack but O'Brian and Ryan each get speared as well.  Byron protests as Martlaro & Regal wonder "who was that masked man?"...

So long from the Sunshine State!

Glad to make the list on Tuesday night...the meeting has gotten rather crowded to the tune of 30-40 people per week!  Had a good set with some new material included, even ended on a new joke since it went over fairly well and I had already seen the first light cue.  Wednesday night had an odd crowd and I blanked on a lot of the jokes I wanted to try...probably didn't have my best set on that occasion, but it happens.  Have gotten back into the habit of using the notes as a crutch lately, want to get away from that again...heh.
