Midweek wrestling

TNA XPlosion

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay & Jeremy Borash.
-Austin Aries d. Frankie Kazarian with the brainbuster.

WWE NXT

Commentators:  Byron Saxton, S. William Regal, & Renee Young.  Ring announcer:  Kendall Skye.

Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady vs. Alexander Rusev & Sylvester Lefort:  Enzo and Big Cass enlighten us, as usual...the opposition is thus deemed S-A-W-F-T.  This will be our first look at Lefort as an in-ring competitor...so where's Scott Dawson tonight?  Rusev starts by overpowering Cassady...then Amore gets more of the same.  Lefort applauds his partner's efforts...but Rusev mows HIM down as well!  Rusev quickly locks Cassady in the Accolade(camel clutch) for the submisison...and our mystery blonde appears to nod her approval.

Jason Jordan vs. Aiden English:  Jordan barely gets his name mentioned in his big in-ring return from injury...not a good sign for him.  We get our traditional serenade from the Artiste on the way to the ring...he even sings a lullaby as he holds Jordan in a sleeper, well played.  English finishes with his version of the Side Effect, now called the Director's Cut...and we do get an encore.  Roses are thrown into the ring as English takes a bow...Regal even stands to applaud.

After last week's show:  Adrian Neville warns Corey Graves that their issue isn't over yet...

NXT Women's Champion Paige Knight vs. Summer Rae(w/ Sasha Banks)(non-title):  Summer pinned Paige in a recent tag match, so we've got this match...not for the belt since Emma Tayla is the official number-one contender.  Paige immediately shifts into attack mode...Summer seeks refuge on the floor and uses Sasha as a human shield when Paige gives chase, allowing her to get in a cheapshot.  Paige re-enters the ring with a sunset flip and Summer blocks with the ropes for two, only for Paige to complete the move for two.  Regal and Renee seem to be hitting it off nicely at the broadcast table while Byron(getting used to the commentary thing again after a long layoff) feels like the third wheel.  Sasha trips up Paige but the ref sees it and ejects her from ringside...whoops.

Paige barely misses a beat in her control of the bout...but a nicely-timed legsweep by Summer leads to a bad landing on the ring apron for the champ.  Summer goes after the leg for a little while, but Paige catches her flying bodyscissors out of nowhere for a snap cradle DDT!  Paige goes on offense but runs into a spinning kick...for two.  Summer trash-talks but Paige surprises her with a sidekick to the midsection...Paige Turner hits and that's the ballgame!  Sasha is quick to re-enter with an attack from behind, but Emma is right behind her for the save...Paige goes to help but Emma turns around blindly with a clothesline and takes out Paige!  Cue tense staredown...

Luke Harper does his own talking in a vignette...he's facing Kassius Ohno again next week.

Also next week:  Rusev vs. Lefort.

C.J. Parker vs. Tyler Breeze:  Breeze attacked Parker last week and cut off some of his dreadlocks...this feud now continues.  Parker's not in a good mood for once...and Breeze starts the match on the floor.  C.J. chases him around the ring and back between the ropes...NOT THE FACE~!  The fans are as partisan as ever as they seem to like Breeze more than Parker...and Parker adds to the facial assault with a headbutt.  AIRPLANE SPIN~!  Parker lines him up for the uppercut palm strike(Third Eye?) but Breeze bails to the floor again...

C.J. keeps up the pressure but Breeze avoids the double-knee in the corner, pulling him backwards to the mat off the second turnbuckle.  Now it's finally Breeze in command, though he stops to fix his hair with the help of his camera phone.  He goes to the top rope but gets caught and slammed to the mat...I smell a comeback!  Parker rushes Breeze and pummels him(NOT THE FACE~!) before taking him out with a jumping side kick(a la Booker T)...for two.  Tyler stops him with a jawbreaker and goes for a powerbomb, but Parker blocks it and then ducks a Beauty Shot(spinning heel kick).  Third Eye hits out of nowhere and C.J. gets the big win!  Parker's not done as he brings in scissors to return the haircut favor...but Tyler regains his wits and gets out of the ring before any amateur hairstyling occurs.

TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay & Taz.
-With A.J. Styles "gone", Dixie Carter announced an eight-man tournament to crown a new Heavyweight Champion.  Participants so far:  James Storm, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, and Chris Sabin.
-The Bro Mans(Robbie Eckos & Jessie Godderz) d. James Storm & Phil Gunner to retain the Tag Team Titles.  Storm tried to suplex Jessie into the ring, but Robbie E tripped him and held the foot as Jessie fell on top for the pin.
-Ethan Carter III d. Norv Pernum with the One-Percenter(headlock driver).
-Brutus Magnus won a mini-Royal Rumble for the final tournament spot.  Entries:  Sting, Frankie Kazarian, Mike Knux, Eric Young, Christopher Daniels, Manik, and Brutus Magnus.  No one was eliminated until all seven were in the ring; Manik headscissored Knux out but was eliminated by Kazarian right after that.  Kazarian eliminated Young with an assist from Daniels.  Magnus clotheslined Daniels out as Sting grappled with Kazarian on the ropes, then Magnus dumped both Kazarian and Sting for the win.
-Gail Kim(w/ Lei'D Tapa) d. O.D.B. to retain the Women's Title; a distraction by Tapa allowed Gail to roll up O.D.B. and hold the ropes for the cheap win.
-After his return at Bound For Glory, Abyss made another appearance to assist Eric Young against Daniels & Kazarian.
-First tournament match next week:  Hardy-Sabin in Full Metal Mayhem.  The rest of the brackets are Storm-Roode, Angle-Aries, and Joe-Magnus.
-Bobby Roode d. Kurt Angle.  Angle hit a pop-up superplex but appeared to injure himself on the landing(similar to Bound For Glory), so the referee stopped the match and declared Kurt unable to continue.

WWE Raw

-Commentators:  Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, & John Bradshaw Layfield.
-Damien Sandow interrupted World Champion John Cena's show-opening promo...after some verbal sparring, Sandow attacked Cena and destroyed his arm.  Time for a Money-In-The-Bank cash-in?...yes it is.
-John Cena d. Damien Sandow after the second F-U of the match to retain the World Title.
-Big E Langston d. U.S. Champion Dean Ambrose(w/ Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins) by DQ when Reigns low-bridged Langston out of the ring.  Jimmy & Jey Uso saved Big E from the post-match beating and General Manager Brad Maddox ordered a six-man tag.
-The Shield(U.S. Champion Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, & Seth Rollins) d. Big E Langston & Jimmy & Jey Uso; Reigns pinned Jey after spearing both Usos at once.
-Shawn Michaels apologized to Daniel Bryan, saying his friendship with Triple H takes precedence over everything else.  He offered his hand...Bryan hesitated before accepting the handshake, then took him down into the Yes Lock.  Referees had to break things up.
-Renee Young tried to interview Bryan backstage, but Bryan was attacked by the Wyatt Family(Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, & Erick Rowan).  Bray finished with a modified Sister Abigail to send Bryan face-first into a metal fence.
-Los Matadores(Fernando & Diego)(w/ El Torito) d. The 3-Man Band(Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre, & Jinder Mahal) in a handicap match when Fernando pinned Drew after the double torture-rack drop.
-Women's Champion A.J. Lee & Tamina Snuka d. The Bella Twins(Brie & Nikki) when A.J. made Nikki tap out to the Black Widow.
-Kane d. Mike Mizanin with the chokeslam.  He called out Stephanie McMahon afterwards...it seemed like he wasn't happy with the company direction, but then he said "the monster" was hers to unleash.  He took off his mask(w/ wig) and handed it to her as he left...
-C.M. Punk d. Ryback in a street fight(other fan vote choices were falls-count-anywhere match and table match).  Punk put Ryback through a table with the Macho Elbow and made him tap out to the Anaconda Vise.  The Wyatt Family members attacked Punk afterwards.
-The Real Americans(Antonio Cesaro & Jack Swagger)(w/ Zeb Colter) d. Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Goldust(non-title) when Swagger made Goldust tap out to the Patriot Lock.
-Natalya Neidhart(w/ Great Khali & Hornswoggle) d. Summer Rae(w/ Johnny Fandango) with the Sharpshooter.
-New WWE Champion Randy Orton celebrated his title win along with Triple H and Stephanie...The Big Show interrupted things.  The Rhodes brothers and Usos held off the Shield members as Show made it to the ring to run off Orton and HHH.  Orton attacked Show from behind, but Show PUNCHed him out before he could hit him with the title belt.  The show ended with a standoff between Show and HHH.

CSCW Special Comment

Had a family outing last weekend and missed SICW...will catch up through Wrestling Explosion.

Dynamo Pro Wrestling had their first event in Pittsfield on Saturday, but it was a two-hour drive so I opted for the shorter drive. It sounded like an eventful show as Jake Dirden defeated Dan Walsh for the Heavyweight Title...more on this as it develops.

It was a good thing that I double-checked the event info on Saturday...I had been posting the event location as Swansea(thinking the Cahokia site was a one-time thing for Rob Conway's appearance). As it turned out, they were back in Cahokia...all I was really checking was the start time. I apologize to my readers(both of you) if I misdirected anyone.

Attendance wasn't that great...they only drew about 50 for the Conway show and they MAYBE had 30 for this one. I felt bad for the guys in the opening segment and the first match as they were met with a lot of silence. The crowd enthusiasm got better as the show progressed, at any rate.

Your ring announcer was Tank Thurman and the show started with a "contract signing" setup...that set up Evan Money vs. Shane Somers for the NWA Central States Title later in the show. I'm good with promos to a point, but if I wanted to see a wrestling show start with talking, I'd watch the stuff on TV.

The in-ring action was solid for the most part, but it took some serious work to get the fans involved...I don't know the issue with drawing fans, but it's a business and you've got to bring in customers to be successful.

Had previously seen Matt Fontaine and Damien Tyler as The Dragons/Black Dragon Assassins in MECW. The triple threat match had an odd dynamic with two faces and one heel(Ricky Starks). Good match, though.

Hadn't seen Jeremy Hadley before though he was billed as being from Hazelwood.

Jimmy D and Garrett Williams went OLD-SCHOOL HEAT~! with the Red Sox jerseys...hey, they're classics because they work. Liked the no-holds-barred brawl more than I thought I would, so there you go.

I didn't hear an exact date for the November show, but that's apparently when Shane Fury vs. Chris Logan for the NWA Illinois Title will happen.

I'm still not sure about Evan Money's character. They had teased like crazy that he was going to dump manager Garrett Williams and then Williams interfered against his own protege to cost him the title. Afterwards, Money's promo was still heelish...so yeah.

Next weekend: Nothing that I know of. All I know for November are MMWA and SICW; St. Louis Anarchy's next show is Yuletide Terror in December. CSCW said they have a November show but I'll need to wait for the exact date and location to be posted. Also waiting to find out when Dynamo's next show will be.

As always: #yaywrestling

WWE Hell In A Cell

-Damien Sandow d. Kofi Kingston with the You're Welcome(full nelson slam).
-Cody Rhodes & Goldust won a triple threat match with Jimmy & Jey Uso and Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins to retain the Tag Team Titles when Cody pinned Rollins after the Crossrhodes.
-Mike Mizanin called out the Wyatt Family(Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, & Erick Rowan).  Miz fought Harper and Rowan two-on-one until Kane returned to help...but then Kane chokeslammed Miz.
-Johnny Fandango & Summer Rae d. The Great Khali & Natalya Neidhart(w/ Hornswoggle); Summer countered Natalya's Sharpshooter attempt into a small package pin.
-Big E Langston d. U.S. Champion Dean Ambrose by countout after spearing him off the apron to the floor; Langston hit Ambrose with the Big Ending afterwards.
-C.M. Punk d. Ryback & Paul Heyman in a handicap Hell In A Cell Match when he pinned Ryback after the Go 2 Sleep.  Heyman "hid" on the roof of the Cell to stay out of harm's way, but Punk climbed up to him after the match; Heyman took a kendo stick beating and a Go 2 Sleep.
-Los Matadores(Fernando & Diego)(w/ El Torito) d. The Real Americans(Antonio Cesaro & Jack Swagger)(w/ Zeb Colter) when Fernando pinned Swagger after the assisted Flatliner.
-John Cena d. Alberto Del Rio with the F-U to win the World Title.
-A.J. Lee(w/ Tamina Snuka) d. Brie Bella(w/ Nikki) with the Black Widow to retain the Women's TItle.
-Randy Orton d. Daniel Bryan in a Hell In A Cell Match to win the vacant WWE Title; Shawn Michael was the special guest referee.  Triple H got in the cell after Shawn was knocked down and pulled Bryan away from Shawn, so Bryan took out HHH with the flying knee strike.  Shawn got up in time to see this and superkicked Bryan, leading to Orton getting the win.

Weekend wrestling

ROH TV

-Commentators:  Kevin Kelly & Nigel McGuinness.
-Jimmy Jacobs d. Silas Young after a spear.
-Davey Richards d. Ricky Marvin with a brainbuster.
-Eddie Edwards d. Kevin Steen by countering a package piledriver attempt with a jackknife cradle.  Michael Bennett had attacked Steen before the match and hit him with the piledriver, putting him at a severe disadvantage before the bout even began.

SICW Wrestling Explosion

Commentator:  Larry Matysik.

Ricky Cruz & Ron Powers vs. Classic Champion Ken Kasa & Flash Flanagan:  Powers tells ring announcer Ben Simon that he's lost weight, so Ricky jokingly tells Ben that he has GAINED some pounds...heh.  Kasa's manager Travis Cook is absent due to being knocked loopy(well, loopier) by The Honky Tonk Man's guitar in Belleville.  The faces are on the same page:  "Hey, sorry about ending your brother's career and beating you bloody a year or so ago."  "No worries."  Everyone in this match is fine with a little rule-bending; the faces switch behind the referee's back a few times without a tag.  Cruz adds a "questionable" elbowdrop on Kasa as the referee is arguing with Flanagan, then Powers crotches Kasa on the top rope for fun.

Kasa finally turns it around and gets Flanagan into the bout...chaos breaks loose for a moment and that's enough for Flanagan to clip Ricky's knee.  A momentary bit of miscommunication for the faces leads to another knee clip by Flash, putting the heels in firm control.  Cruz gets an opening for a tag, but Powers is arguing with Flanagan and misses it.  More heel dominance ensues as they pull all the tricks, including a ref distraction when an actual tag is made.  Cruz finally ducks a double clothesline and shoves Kasa into Flanagan...and he makes the hot tag to Powers!  The house is on fire!  Ricky re-enters to take care of Flanagan and Powers hits the piledriver to beat the Classic Champion!  The winning teammates shake hands afterwards...

Flashback to August 1980:  Ken Patera d. Tommy Yates with the swinging full nelson.

Anarchy Wrestling TV #404

-Commentator:  Bret Wolverton, Andrew Pendleton III, & Jeremy Vain(for the main event).
-Anthony Henry(w/ Miss Rachel) d. Victor Andrews after a spear(his rival Stryknyn's finisher).  Stryknyn ran into the ring after the bell and speared Henry; B.J. Hancock ran in to defend his tag team partner but Stryknyn was just leaving.
-Kevin Blue, Brandon Parker, The Vandal, & Dango Wynn d. Hot Commodity(Young Lions' Champion C.B. Suave & Tommy Penirelli) & The Washington Bullets(Jon & Trey Williams)(w/ Charlie Cash) in an elimination tag match.  Eliminations:  Penirelli made Parker tap out to the anklelock.  Jon Williams pinned Vandal after a backcracker followed by a Diamond Cutter from Trey.  Wynn pinned Trey Williams after the frog splash.  Jon Williams pinned Wynn after a flying backcracker off the second rope, but Blue immediately ran in to roll up Jon Williams for another elimination.  Blue kicked Penirelli into Suave and pinned Penirelli after an Air Raid Crash.  Suave thought he could hip-swivel and showboat but Blue small-packaged him for the flash pin and the win.
-Wildside d. Mike Posey(w/ Charlie Cash) by DQ when T.V. Champion Bobby Moore attacked Wildside after Wildside hit Posey with the superkick.  Moore hit Wildside with the loaded forearm pad and tried to unmask him, but Steven Walters ran off the heels before the newcomer's identity could be exposed.
-Geter fought Mikael Judas to a no-contest in a lumberjack match to retain the Heavyweight Title.  The match was thrown out after Wildside attacked Bobby Moore, sparking a brawl with all of the lumberjacks.  Promoter Franklin Dove finally called for an end to the fight...he ordered a cage match between Geter and Judas for Fright Night.  He also said that Jeremy Vain would get his title rematch against Geter at the next show and that Judas would face the Urban Assault Squad(Shadow Jackson & Nemesis) in a handicap match.

-Jeremy Hadley d. Damien Tyler with a Buff Blockbuster.

-Shane Fury(w/ Garrett Williams) d. Bolt Brady to retain the NWA Illinois Title.  Williams had the referee distracted as Fury hit Brady with a low blow, then followed up with a Death Valley Driver for the tainted win.
-Shane Somers d. Evan "Money" Morris(w/ Garrett Williams) to win the NWA Central States Title.  Money had been critical of Williams' advice and even his mere presence at ringside; that seemed to provoke the manager into tripping his own protege at a key moment in the matchup.  Somers took advantage with a DDT for the win and the belt; Money shook Somers' hand after the bout.  After Somers left the ringside area, Money went on a rant about how he respected Somers but only shook his hand because it was in the prepared contract.  He said he disagreed with Williams on a few things but he was still his agent, then vowed to win the NWA World Title once he got another shot.

WWE NXT

Commentators:  Tom Phillips, Alex Riley, & Lord Tensai.  Ring announcer:  Byron Saxton.

Emma Tayla vs. Sasha Banks(w/ Summer Rae):  Shoving match to start and Emma gets the better of the opening exchange, scoring a few early near-falls.  Sasha yanks the hair to take over and slow things down...but Emma doesn't stay down for long.  Emma gets the Tarantula out of nowhere and then the low cross-bodyblock in the corner...for two.  Catapult nearly sets up the Emmalock(inverted STF), but Summer's on the apron and Emma stops to cut her off.  NXT Women's Champion Paige Knight arrives on cue to yank Summer off the apron, but Sasha small-packages Emma for the flash pin.  Paige enters to disrupt the post-match gloating, but Sasha ducks the clothesline and Paige hits Emma by mistake.  Uh-oh...cue tense post-match conversation.

Last week:  NXT Champion Bo Dallas was elated about his title defense against Sami Zayn...he's taking a well-deserved vacation and traveling the world.  Don't stop Bo-lieving!

Corey Graves is here to explain his actions...specfically why he turned on his partner Adrian Neville last week.  Well, Neville's not waiting for an explanation and rushes him on the entrance stage!  Neville beats the hell out of him, but Graves seeks refuge in the ring and gets in a cheapshot kick as Adrian enters.  Referees arrive to restore order but Neville fires back, then dives onto Graves with a major plancha!

Tag Team Champions The Ascension(Conor O'Brian & Rick Victor) vs. Tommy Taylor & Casey Maron(non-title):  Yeahhhhh, don't see this being competitive.  The fans chant "Let's Go These Guys".  Phillips says the guy in green is Maron and I'll take his word for it.  Taylor never gets in the ring as Victor dropkicks him off the apron.  The champs do a double hiptoss into a catch and double powerbomb, then they finish with Total Ascension(okay, it's officially called the Fall Of Man) and Victor gets the pin.

Last week:  Sami Zayn felt like he won, but Bo's foot was on the bottom rope and he understands that.  He DOES have a problem with the lack of a restart after Bo won with the aid of an exposed turnbuckle...he understands what Daniel Bryan is going through.  If you're not the "chosen guy", it seems like things work against you...

Renee Young interviews General Manager John Bradshaw Layfield...Renee brings up the possibility of a Triple H/JBL conspiracy.  JBL says a fair finish was Best For Business(tm), but he takes "baseless accusions" very seriously and Zayn is staying at home until he learns some respect.

C.J. Parker(w/ Tyler Breeze's camera phone) vs. Alexander Rusev:  Notably, no Sylvester Lefort on this night...Rusev doesn't have usual wooden board either.  Rusev dominates from the opening bell...and a mysterious blonde woman comes to ringside to observe the beating.  Rusev finishes in short order with the Accolade(camel clutch)...our unknown lady seems to like what she saw.

During the break:  Tyler Breeze took out the beaten Parker with the Beauty Shot(spinning heel kick).  He cut off some of Parker's white-guy dreadlocks and left with his camera phone.  Grudge match next week!

Also next week:  Paige vs. Summer Rae.

Adrian Neville vs. Corey Graves:  Admittedly, these guys were kinda thrown together as a tag team due to Kassius Ohno being injured by the Wyatt Family...they were a makeshift duo from the beginning.  Neville rushes Graves with a John Wu Dropkick right out of the gate and keeps up the pressure...a more traditional dropkick sends Corey to the floor, so cue the corkscrew flippy dive!  Back in the ring, Neville unloads with the educated feet but Graves takes out the knee with a unique takedown.  A body drop onto the knee is nicely countered into a Neville rollup...Corey rolls through only to get kicked again.  Graves seeks refuge in the ropes and kicks out the knee again, then ties it up in the ropes and drops a knee.  More leg damage ensues as the high-flyer is grounded(PSYCHOLOGY~!).  Shinbuster works once, but the second try leads to Neville going up and over into a sunset flip...for two.  Graves quickly goes back to the leg but Neville gets off a pair of Flying Jalapenos out of nowhere.  Third floor...Graves nearly cuts him off but Adrian jumps over him only to re-tweak the knee on the landing.  He still manages a rollup for two, but Graves takes him out with the legdive and finally gets the Lucky 13(Fuller Leglock) for the tapout.

Graves isn't done as he hooks the leglock again on the arena floor...referees have to intervene again but the damage has been done.

TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay & Taz.
-New Heavyweight Champion A.J. Styles had a confrontation with Bully Ray over Dixie Carter's proposal to cancel the title rematch.  Ray threatened to powerbomb Styles through a table, but Ken Anderson returned to brawl with Ray.
-Women's Champion Gail Kim & Brooke Tessmacher(w/ Lei'D Tapa) d. O.D.B. & Velvet Sky; Gail pinned Velvet after Tapa BOOTed her behind the referee's back.
-Ethan Carter III d. Dewey Barnes after the headlock driver.
-A.J. Styles d. Bully Ray(w/ Brooke Tessmacher) to retain the Heavyweight Title.  The referee was bumped and Ray hit Styles with his chain, then delivered the Bully Cutter...for a slow two-count from the dazed ref.  Anderson re-entered and stopped Ray from using the chain again, then snapped his throat off the top rope...that allowed A.J. to get a crucifix pin.

TNA XPlosion

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay & Jeremy Borash.
-Frankie Kazarian d. Sam Shaw after the Fade To Black(behind-the-back Tombstone).

WWE NXT

Commentators:  Tony Dawson(fare thee well), S. William Regal, & Renee Young.  Ring announcer:  Byron Saxton.

The Ascension(Conor O'Brian & Rick Victor) vs. Corey Graves & Adrian Neville for the NXT Tag Team Titles:  This is Graves & Neville's rematch after losing the belts two weeks ago.  Victor literally comes out swinging, but Graves is ready to fight and gets the better of the exchange.  O'Brian finally runs interference against Neville, pulling the middle rope so that he falls out to the floor.  The champs overpower Adrian and do some damage to his leg, but Graves finally gets the hot tag and cleans house!  Graves takes out O'Brian with a leg dive and hooks the Lucky 13(Fuller Leglock) but Victor breaks it up.  Graves tags out to Neville(despite Neville not being in good condition to re-enter the fray) and one dropkick to the knee by O'Brian is enough to stop him in his tracks.  Neville nearly makes the tag, but Victor sends Neville crashing into his partner with a high knee to the back.  Tag to Conor, Total Ascension(legsweep by O'Brian/flying European uppercut by Victor), and that's the ballgame.

Afterwards, Graves yells at his partner for blowing the match...it seems like cooler heads will prevail, but Graves snaps and legdives his partner!  Ladies and gentlemen, we have a heel turn...Corey pummels Neville out of frustration and Adrian does Stay Down(tm).

C.J. Parker vs. Tyler Breeze:  Wow, full plate this week.  Parker's been the antagonist in this feud, but Breeze is the arrogant type so he's the heel.  The partisan crowd actually seems to favor Breeze...clearly they don't know what they want.  Parker starts off with chops and an airplane spin, causing Breeze to seek refuge on the floor.  C.J. follows him out and re-enters with a sunset flip for two, but he whiffs on a dropkick and Breeze takes over.  Parker teases a punch(NOT THE FACE~!) and gets a La Majistral cradle for two, then a big flying clothesline...Breeze begs off and Parker pulls him to mid-ring, but Tyler hangs onto the ring apron banner and the referee has to fix it.  Odd priorities for the ref and it causes him to miss a thumb to the eye by Breeze.  One spinning heel kick later, Breeze gets the win...Regal is proud of the heelish tactics.  Breeze takes a selfie with his downed rival, but Parker fires back with a huge uppercut palm strike(Moon Shot?).  Breeze rolls out but forgets his camera phone...so C.J. decides to borrow it for some glamour shots with the fans.

NXT Women's Champion Paige Knight & Emma Tayla vs. Summer Rae & Sasha Banks:  The faces aren't quite on the same page and that may make the difference, but Paige immediately takes the fight to Sasha.  Summer tags into the match only to get more of the same...Emma gets the tag and Summer wants no part of her.  Sasha takes her turn...the ref gets occupied with Paige and Summer takes down Emma with a well-timed hair yank.  That puts the "BFFs" in control...Emma pulls off a nice reversal to nearly pin Summer, then finally makes the tag to Paige!  Paige pulls Summer to the ropes and knees her repeatedly in the face, but Sasha grabs the foot to slow her down.  Paige still gets off a dropkick...for two.  Perfectplex nearly wins it but Sasha breaks it up.  Sasha sends Emma to the floor, Paige sends Sasha to the floor, and Summer hits the Sunset Split to pin the NXT Women's Champ!

Bo Dallas vs. Sami Zayn for the NXT Title:  OLE~!  The champ seems hesitant to lock up and Zayn gets the better of the technical exchange, getting several quick near-falls in a row.  Bo finally slugs his way back into things and keeps going for pins, but he can't keep Zayn down.  CRAVATE~! slows him down but not for long...looks like rally time!  Corner boot HITS and he gets the pin(!)...but General Manager John Bradshaw Layfield is quick to interrupt, showing the replay where Bo got his foot on the bottom rope out of the referee's field of vision.  JBL orders a restart("Referee, don't make me learn your name!")...you may not like it, but that was the correct call.  The bell rings and Dallas bashes Zayn out of the ring with a forearm smash...this one's not over yet.

Bo keeps up the pressure(CRAVATE~!) but gets low-bridged out of the ring...then Zayn nails the no-hands somersault plancha!  Back in the ring, a Steamboat Press gets two.  He lines up for the corner boot again but Bo blocks it this time, only to get caught in a Blue Thunder Bomb...for 2 1/2.  Bo fires back with a flurry of offense ending with a turnbuckle-walk bulldog...for 2 1/2!  Inverted DDT...gets 2 1/2.  Zayn holds the ropes to avoid the snap belly-to-belly suplex, gets off a boot, and then hits Bo Dallas with his own spear...for 2 1/2!  He sets up for the ropewalk tornado DDT but Bo swats the grip away, causing Zayn to crotch himself on the top rope.  Bo hits his own spear...but only gets 2 1/2!  Dallas goes back on offense and sets up a superplex but Zayn blocks...he fights out of the move and hits the sunset bomb...for 2 1/2!  What'll it take?  German suplex...Bo tries to hang onto the ropes but Zayn hits another one, causing Bo to pull off the turnbuckle pad.  One more?  Bo blocks again and pulls Zayn forward...right into the exposed turnbuckle!  Dallas rolls him up and that's enough for the pin...once again, an exposed turnbuckle makes the difference for Bo Dallas.

TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay & Taz.
-Robbie Eckos won a four-corner match with Shawn Hernandez, Eric Young, and Christopher Daniels when he stole the pin on Daniels after Young's Macho Elbow.
-Tag Team Champion Phil Gunner(w/ James Storm) d. Mike Knux(w/ Garett Bischoff) via spear.
-Samoa Joe d. Chris Sabin(w/ Velvet Sky) by countering an O'Connor Roll attempt with the Kokita Clutch.  Austin Aries attacked Joe afterwards which brought out Jeff Hardy and then X-Division Champion Manik to join the fight.
-Heavyweight Champion Bully Ray(w/ Brooke Tessmacher) d. Brutus Magnus(non-title).  The referee was bumped and Ray went for his chain, but Sting stopped him from using it.  The referee got distracted by Sting and Ray took out Magnus with a low blow for the cheap win.

WWF off-air notes

No pre-show dark matches from what I read.

Taped for Superstars: Damien Sandow d. Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler d. Big E Langston.

Post-show dark match: Daniel Bryan d. Randy Orton.

Source: People on Twitter

WWE Raw(in St. Louis, MO)

-Commentators:  Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, & John Bradshaw Layfield.
-Shawn Michaels started Raw only to be interrupted by hometown boy Randy Orton.  After some verbal jousting, Shawn blocked an RKO attempt and Orton slid out of the ring to avoid a superkick.  The Miz jumped Orton in the aisleway, kick-starting our opener...
-Randy Orton d. Mike Mizanin with the RKO after a distraction by The Wyatt Family(Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, & Erick Rowan).
-Johnny Fandango(w/ Summer Rae) d. Santino Marella via rollup after ducking the Cobra.
-Los Matadores(Fernando & Diego)(w/ El Torito) d. Heath Slater & Drew McIntyre(w/ Jinder Mahal) when Fernando pinned Slater after the double torture-rack drop.  Jinder took a triple-team version of the move after the match(with El Torito adding a springboard Moshpit Leap).
-Daniel Bryan interrupted a promo by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon only to be attacked from behind by World Champion Alberto Del Rio, setting up a match for later in the night.
-Beat The Clock(for the right to name the Hell In A Cell match stipulation):  Ryback(w/ Paul Heyman) d. "R-Truth" Ron Killings with the Shellshock in 5:44.
-The Real Americans(Antonio Cesaro & Jack Swagger)(w/ Zeb Colter) d. Tons Of Funk(Brodus Clay & Lord Tensai)(w/ Funkadactyls) when Cesaro pinned Brodus after the Neutralizer.  Cesaro hit the deadlift gutwrench suplex on Tensai at one point in the bout and gave him the giant swing afterwards.
-Tamina Snuka(w/ Women's Champion A.J. Lee) d. Brie Bella after a boot to the face.  The abuse wasn't over as Tamina hit a Samoan Drop and shoulderbreaker followed by the Superfly Splash...then A.J. locked Brie in the Black Widow until referees restored order(and Nikki came out to check on her sister).
-Beat The Clock:  C.M. Punk d. Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel(w/ Paul Heyman)(non-title) with the Go 2 Sleep in 5:33.  Heyman wanted the PPV match to be a handicap match(Punk vs. Ryback/Axel) and Punk liked the idea of a handicap match:  Punk vs. Ryback & Heyman in Hell In A Cell.
-World Champion Alberto Del Rio d. Daniel Bryan by countout(non-title); Orton appeared on the Titantron and went into the trainer's room where Brie was recovering from the earlier assault by Tamina.  Bryan ran backstage to help his fiancee(getting counted out) only to be blindsided by Orton.
-Cody Rhodes & Goldust d. Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins(w/ U.S. Champion Dean Ambrose) in a no-DQ match to win the Tag Team Titles.  The numbers caught up to the Rhodes brothers as Ambrose interfered freely near the end of the bout, but The Big Show jumped the barricade and PUNCHed out Ambrose and Rollins.  He finally PUNCHed out Reigns and Cody got the pin for the win.

SICW Special Comment

This would qualify as the shortest drive I've ever had to make to a wrestling show. It just barely beats out the CSCW shows in Swansea and the LWA/SLA events in Fairview Heights. Pretty good turnout for the first show at a new venue; the building sign was promoting the event for at least a week beforehand.

With shows on the same night, Ben Simon was the ring announcer for MMWA at South Broadway while Drew Abbenhaus did the honors at SICW. Gary Jackson worked both shows(the opener at SICW and the elimination tag at MMWA) so he wasn't in the Belleville Rumble.

I didn't get why the opener got almost fifteen minutes just to end in a cheap DQ. They're pushing dissension between Texan and Waco...well, it's not like there are Tag Team Titles.

It looked like Flanagan might cost Powers his match to Rudolph, but the inteference finally backfired at the end of the match. After that, Powers teased interfering in Flanagan's bout with Jake Dirden, but he never directly got involved and they just brawled to a double countout.

It's enough that Chaz Wesson and Ax Allwardt both refer to themselves as "Old School Warriors", but they even had nearly-identical ring attire on this show!

It seems like Travis Cook always sticks his nose into the business of the visiting guests...that earned him some guitar abuse later in the night.

The only people on the card who weren't in the Belleville Rumble were Gary Jackson, Classic Champion Ken Kasa, and Daniel Eads(a last-minute substitution for the injured Adam Raw).

Travis was not in Kasa's corner due to the beating he took from the Honky Tonk Man, so the champion requested a moment of silence in his manager's honor...the fans did not oblige.

I THINK I got most of the battle royal eliminations right...Powers, Flanagan, and Cruz all went out right in a row. Good ending with Dirden going over the top but catching himself on the apron...he fought back against Vaughn before backdropping him to the floor from the apron for the win.

I'm going to a family outing next Saturday so I may not make it to the next SICW show in East Carondelet. Hey, I go to wrestling shows all the time...I don't see my family nearly enough these days. The weekend after that is CSCW in Swansea(as well as Dynamo in Pittsfield). No plans to go to Raw in St. Louis tonight...just heard Daniel Bryan on 105.7 The Point this morning. Bwahahaha...

SICW Wrestling Explosion

-Commentator:  Larry Matysik.
-Ricky Cruz d. Classic Champion Ken Kasa(w/ Travis Cook & Dave Vaughn) by DQ. The two were familiar enough with each other than Kasa hit Cruz with his own superkick for a near-fall, then Cruz retaliated by hitting Kasa with his own John Wu Dropkick. Kasa went on to deliver a blatant kick to the groin as Cruz was leapfrogging out of the corner, thus getting disqualified to save the belt. Cruz fought off Kasa and Vaughn after the match until Flanagan joined the fray...and that brought out Ron Powers. Cruz and Powers cleared the ring, leading to a tense staredown between the former rivals.

-Geter fought Mikael Judas to a no-contest to retain the Heavyweight Title.  The two brawled outside the ring and the locker room emptied to separate the two...a lumberjack rematch was ordered and Judas dove over the top rope to get his hands on Geter again!

-Jake Dirden fought Flash Flanagan to a double countout.  Ron Powers came out to ringside during the bout but didn't get involved.

WWE NXT

Commentators:  Tom Phillips, Alex Riley, & Renee Young(for the women's match).  Ring announcer:  Kendall Skye.

Leo Kruger vs. Antonio Cesaro:  So who's the face in THIS one?  These two got their signals crossed during the Bo Dallas Invitational last week, so we've got this match.  Cesaro dropkicks Kruger right out of the gate...those "We The People" chants are getting pretty loud.  Kruger fires back and clotheslines Cesaro out of the ring, then follows him to the floor where they fight it out.  BACK RAKES~!  Cesaro controls the pace for a bit, but Leo reverses a suplex before stomping him down in the corner.  Antonio reverses him into the turnbuckles before dashing in with a EUROUPPERCUT~!...for two.  Double-stomp gets two.  Unique Rock Bottom variant...gets two.  Third floor...but Kruger cuts him off and hits the superplex!

The battle spills out to the floor again...Leo surprisingly takes to the air for a suicide dive!  Back in for a spinebuster, but Cesaro rolls out to avoid the Slice lariat...Kruger follows him but gets thrown into the steel steps.  Undaunted, Cesaro throws him out of the ring again and hits a back suplex onto the edge of the ring!  Leo beats the ten-count and Antonio throws him out AGAIN...he tells him to STAY DOWN and hits a gutwrench suplex on the entrance ramp!  Kruger beats the count once again, frustrating Cesaro...Antonio pummels him with European uppercuts before dropping him with a torture-rack slam...for two!  Neutralizer...is countered by a backdrop.  Leo gets one shot in, but runs right into the pop-up EUROUPPERCUT~!...for two!  Cesaro grabs the Swiss Sleeper and takes Kruger down to the mat with a bodyscissors...but Leo won't quit and fights back to his feet.  Antonio mows him down with a short-arm clothesline in response, then decides to just end it with the Neutralizer...second time's the charm.  1-2-3.  Cesaro's not done and drops a knee from the top rope...WE THE PEOPLE~!  Referees hit the ring to check on Leo...

Charlotte Flair(w/ Bayley Rose) vs. Santana Garrett:  Hey, I know that other gal!  FLIPPIES~! ensue for both ladies.  Santana does better than you might think, but Summer Rae & Sasha Banks make their way to ringside for no particular reason.  Their mocking "support" leads to Charlotte mounting a comeback, but she's distracted enough for Santana to roll her up for two.  Charlotte drops her with a fireman's-carry Flapjack, then hits the low-altitude somersault Diamond Cutter for the win.  Charlotte & Bayley leave without incident, but Summer has something to say.  They're the "BFFs"(Beautiful Fierce Females) and they claim to have put NXT Women's Champion Paige Knight out of commision...but Paige shows up to dispute those claims.  Paige beats down Sasha but it's a two-on-one situation...the fans chant for Emma Tayla and she appears as requested!  The BFFs were just leaving...

Backstage, Tony Dawson(not gone yet) catches up to the BFFs...they want a tag match with Paige and Emma next week.

Mojo Rawley vs. Danny Burch:  Well, the new guy has no shortage of energy...STAY HYPED~!  He's a big guy who can move pretty well, but Burch doesn't just lay down.  Mojo rallies with shoulderblocks and a series of Stinger Splashes, then a flying butt-bump followed by the Earthquake buttdrop for the victory.

Backstage:  Dawson interviews Paige & Emma...they're on different pages as it relates to who needs who's help, but they do accept the challenge.  Emma annoys Paige with her dancing...Paige:  "Emma, I'll hurt you..."  Emma:  "Yeah, right..."

Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady vs. Alexander Rusev & Scott Dawson(w/ Sylvester Lefort):  The board says "ENZO" on one side and "COLIN" on the other.  The Jersey guys aren't at a loss for words, as usual.  The fans know the word to describe the opposition:  S-A-W-F-T~!  The big boys start...not a lot of finesse in that exchange but it's effective.  Enzo tags in but Rusev catches a cross-body, then holds him up against the ropes for repeated knees to the gut.  Amore's in the wrong part of town...Dawson hits a short-arm clothesline and teardrop suplex but Big Cass breaks up the pin.  Rusev bashes Cassady off the apron in response, then rams Enzo in the corner before making him tap out to the Accolade(camel clutch).  Cassady takes some post-match abuse from the Legionnaires and gets locked in the Accolade as well...that was decisive.

Backstage:  Renee Young interviews Sami Zayn...he has his shot at NXT Champion Bo Dallas next week!  Speak of the devil, Bo appears with an outstanding boo-boo face...that was NOT COOL last week and that hurt his feelings!  Zayn Wants Da Belt...but Bo says he doesn't have to do this.  They can team up and go after the Tag Team Titles as FRIENDS!  Zayn says it sounds like a good plan...but they'll do that after he wins the big belt from him.  Dallas:  "Un-BO-lievable!"

Rob Van Dam(w/ Ricardo Rodriguez) vs. Aiden English:  The Artiste sings his way to the ring as usual...BRAVO~!  For reference, this WAS recorded prior to this past week's events(RVD taking a sabbatical and World Champion Alberto Del Rio destroying Rodriguez).  The fans demonstrate that they know Rob's initials.  It's fairly easy to predict how this one will go...it's a showcase for Van Dam with some token heelishness by English.  A well-timed rope kick puts RVD in some pain, but the educated feet make the difference.  Rolling Thunder sets up the five-star frog splash and that's all she wrote.

Next week:  Dallas-Zayn for the title plus Paige/Emma vs. BFFs.
