Anarchy Wrestling TV #360

Commentators:  Bret Wolverton & Chuck Porterfield^H^H^HTim E.D.

Geter & Tag Team Champions The Urban Assault Squad(Shadow Jackson & Nemesis)(w/ Miss Rachel) d. Najasism, The Vandal, & J.C. Walker when Geter pinned Walker after a Rikishi Driver.

Todd Sexton d. Adrian Hawkins with a straitjacket version of the Crippler Crossface.  Hot Commodity(Tommy Penirelli & C.B. Suave) attacked Sexton after the match along with Hawkins.

Stryknyn fought Anthony Henry to a no-contest to retain the Young Lions' Title.  Bobby Moore did commentary for the match and Jacoby Boykins(w/ Miss Rachel) watched from ringside.  According to the explanation by the announcers, a Young Lions' Title match can end in any fashion but the belt can only change hands by submission(meaning pinfalls can still occur).  The match ended when Boykins attacked Stryknyn at ringside and then entered the ring to powerslam Henry.  Moore entered the fray to knock out Stryknyn with his loaded elbowpad...he offered a handshake to Boykins but Jacoby didn't accept the gesture.  Moore teased a cheapshot on Boykins but backed down when Boykins turned around.

NXT + Impact

WWE NXT6

Commentators:  Tony Dawson, S. William Regal, & Jim Ross(for the main event).  Ring announcer:  Byron Saxton.

Jimmy & Jey Uso vs. Primo & Epico Colon(w/ Rosa Mendes):  SIVA TAU~!  The commentators(mostly Regal) could spend the whole match talking about the family connections on both sides.  YAY WRESTLING~!  A nice fakeout by Jey allows Jimmy to take out both Colon cousins with a huge plancha, but Primo & Epico turn the tide to isolate Jey for a while.  A whiffed corner dropkick leaves Primo hung up in the corner...so Epico distracts the ref so he doesn't see the tag to Jimmy.  Jey finally gets more separation with a backdrop on Epico and Jimmy gets the tag for real!  The house is on fire...Primo takes a Buh-Buh Bomb and Umaga Smash from Jimmy, then a Samoan Drop.  Epico breaks up the pin but gets superkicked to the floor by Jey.  Jimmy superkicks Primo while he's at it...tag to Jey for the Headshrinker Splash and pin!  THE LIGHTS GO OUT IN ORLANDO...The Ascension members appear on the Titantron to declare that their feud with the Usos MUST CONTINUE.

Big E Langston vs. Donny Camacho & Aiden English:  Camacho was allowed to choose a partner for this one...guess he figured any partner would do.  Time to CHALK UP~!  English starts with Langston...which goes about as you'd expect.  Vader Smash levels English...and Camacho has zero interest in tagging into the match.  He piefaces Big E and then takes a walk...so much for that team.  Big Ending for three...but that's not good enough so he hits the finisher again and logs his five-count.  The fans humbly request One More Time...and it is delivered as advertised(along with the five-count).

Percy Watson vs. Kassius Ohno:  Regal says he regrets some of his dastardly history and he's concerned that Ohno may be going down the same path...hmm.  Fine matchup, at any rate...Ohno escapes the Percycution setup and gets the win after the Ohno Blade(fka Death Blow).  Ohno glares in Regal's direction after the match, then sends a few choice words in his direction on the way out.

Jim Ross interviews NXT Champion Seth Rollins...he retained his title against Jinder Mahal last week, so what's next for him?  He is a fighting champion and he's not hard to find...out of nowhere, Corey Graves hits the ring and clips Rollins' knee!  He grabs him in the Thirteenth Step(Fuller Leglock) until referees arrive to restore order...the champ's in bad shape after that attack.  Graves commandeers J.R.'s microphone for his own promo time...he wants da belt and he gives it a look before leaving the ring.

John Cena lets us know that next week's show will be a year-in-review edition...good to know.

World Champion The Big Show vs. Bo Dallas(non-title):  J.R. joins Regal at the broadcast table.  Two weeks ago, Bo issued an open challenge and this would be a fine example of being careful what you wish for.  I don't see this being too competitive but Bo's not gonna back down.  Dallas escapes a slam attempt to get a sleeper...Regal shows some bias as he's been victimized by Show a few times lately.  Show escapes the hold with a sideslam but misses an elbowdrop...Bo tries to slug it out with Show, then gets off a few dropkicks.  He escapes the chokeslam but Show easily blocks a bulldog attempt...PUNCH and it's over.

TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay, Todd Keneley, & Taz.
-Brother Devon(w/ Aces & Eights) d. Kurt Angle(w/ Samoa Joe, Wes Brisco, & Garett Bischoff) to retain the T.V. Title.  The referee sent all of the ringside parties to the backstage area, but the Aces came back out when Angle got Devon in the anklelock.  That brought Joe, Wes, and Garett back out...in the chaos, Armbreaker hit Angle from behind with a lead pipe and Devon got the pin.
-Matt Morgan & Joey Ryan d. X-Division Champion Rob Van Dam & Kenny King when Ryan pinned Van Dam after Morgan's Carbon Footprint.
-Tara Varon(w/ Jesse Godderz) d. Mickie James after a modified spinebuster to retain the Women's Title.
-Jeff Hardy d. Austin Aries to retain the Heavyweight Title.  The referee was knocked down, giving Aries the opportunity to hit a low blow and then the brainbuster.  However, Bobby Roode stopped a second ref from making the pin count and then hit Aries with a spinebuster.  Hardy and the original ref didn't see Roode's interference...Hardy hit the Twist Of Fate and swanton bomb to get the win and retain the title.

WWE Smackdown + This Week In Wrestling

-Commentators:  Josh Mathews, John Bradshaw Layfield, & Michael Cole.
-MizTV started off the show with Dolph Ziggler, Big E Langston, and A.J. Lee.  A.J. felt like Cena rejected her and that's why she turned on him at TLC.  Miz insulted his guests one time too many and got laid out by a Big Ending.
-Damien Sandow(w/ Cody Rhodes) d. Sin Cara.  The Shield members distracted Sin Cara by coming out with Rey Misterio Jr.'s mask and that led to Sandow capitalizing with the Terminus for the win.  The Shield members attacked Sin Cara afterwards and destroyed his knee.
-Santino Marella d. Lord Tensai after Tensai missed the running senton.
-Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston & Tag Team Champions Hell No(Kane & Daniel Bryan) d. Wade Barrett & The Prime Time Players(Titus O'Neil & Darren Young) when Kane pinned Young after the chokeslam.
-Ryback interrupted a promo by WWE Champion C.M. Punk(w/ Paul Heyman), saying he would be challenging for Punk's title on the first Raw of 2013.
-Ryback d. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro(non-title) after the Shellshock.
-Kaitlyn Bonin d. Women's Champion Eve Torres by DQ.  Kaitlyn went to the top rope but Eve hung onto the referee's ankles and refused to let go, resulting in her getting disqualified to save her title.
-Brodus Clay(w/ Funkadactyls) d. Brad Maddox after the big splash, but he was attacked by The Shield members after the match.  It took some effort but they got him up for the triple-team powerbomb.
-John Cena & Sheamus O'Shaunessy d. World Champion The Big Show & Dolph Ziggler(w/ A.J. Lee & Big E Langston) by DQ; Show broke up an F-U attempt on Ziggler and then brawled with Sheamus out of the ring.  Dolph hit the Zigzag on Cena for a near-fall, then argued with the ref before getting caught with the F-U for real.  That brought in Langston to mow down Cena(causing the disqualification) before laying him out with the Big Ending.

WWE Raw(Slammys)

-Commentators:  Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, & John Bradshaw Layfield.
-Rey Misterio Jr.(w/ Sin Cara) d. Damien Sandow(w/ Cody Rhodes) after the 619 and top-rope splash.
-Smackdown General Manager Booker T presented the "Tell Me I Did Not Just See That" Slammy(despite an interruption by The Boogeyman) to Kofi Kingston for his handwalk to avoid elimination at the Royal Rumble.
-Kaitlyn Bonin d. Women's Champion Eve Torres(non-title) after the fireman's-carry gorilla press into a gutbuster.
-The New Age Outlaws(Road Dog & Billy Gunn) presented the Comeback Of The Year Slammy to Jerry Lawler.
-Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston d. Lord Tensai(non-title) after the Trouble In Paradise; Wade Barrett attacked Kofi after the match and laid him out with the Bullhammer.
-Raw Managing Supervisor Vickie Guerrero presented the Kiss Of The Year Slammy to A.J. Lee for her kiss of John Cena.  A.J. didn't offer much explanation for her actions at TLC(besides spending too much time caring about what others thought of her).  Dolph Ziggler stood between the ladies to stop a fight, but A.J. planted a kiss on Dolph before leaving with her award.
-The Great Khali(w/ Natalya Neidhart) d. David Otunga after the head chop.
-Ric Flair(!) presented the Superstar Of The Year Slammy to John Cena.  Cena felt like the award should go to Ric...after Cena left, WWE Champion C.M. Punk(w/ Paul Heyman) came out for an interesting verbal exchange with Flair.  They took it to the ring where Punk jabbed Flair with his crutch, but Flair poked him in the eye and then put Heyman in the figure-four leglock.  Flair got the microphone to say a few more words, but this time he was interrupted by the members of The Shield.  Flair got help first from Tag Team Champions Hell No(Kane & Daniel Bryan), then Ryback before the Shield trio retreated.
-Brodus Clay(w/ Funkadactyls) d. J.T.G. after the big splash.
-Santino Marella & Lord Tensai presented the LOL Moment Slammy...The Rock won but wasn't there to accept the award, so Santino said he'd hold onto it for him.
-Cody Rhodes(w/ Damien Sandow) d. Sin Cara(w/ Rey Misterio Jr.) after the Crossrhodes.
-Zack Ryder & Layla El present the Hashtag Of The Year Slammy to Ryback(though he's preparing for a match so they go backstage to deliver it to him).
-World Champion The Big Show(w/ Big Chair) was interrupted by Sheamus O'Shaunessy...Sheamus was willing to shake his hand, but Show insulted him one time too many and Sheamus attacked him.  Sheamus laid him out with his own Big Chair and then Brogue-Kicked him...Dolph Ziggler ran in with the intent to cash in his Money-In-The-Bank briefcase, but John Cena attacked him before the bell could be rung.
-Alberto Del Rio, Mike Mizanin, & Tommy Dreamer(w/ Ricardo Rodriguez) d. The 3-Man Band(Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre, & Jinder Mahal) when Dreamer pinned Slater after the DDT.
-Sheamus O'Shaunessy presented the Newcomer Of The Year Slammy to Ryback.
-Ryback d. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro(non-title) by countout when Cesaro walked away from the match.
-Jim Ross, Ricky Steamboat, & Gene Okerlund presented the Match Of The Year Slammy to Triple H for his WrestleMania match with The Undertaker.
-John Cena & Vickie Guerrero d. Dolph Ziggler & A.J. Lee by DQ; A.J. went to the back fairly quickly and Vickie followed her, leaving Cena and Ziggler to fight.  Cena got Ziggler in the STF, but A.J. came back out with Big E Langston!  Big E mowed down Cena with a Vader Smash(causing the DQ), then dropped him with the Big Ending to close the show.

Set for Tuesday's live Smackdown:  Cena/Sheamus vs. Show/Ziggler.

-The Rhodes Scholars(Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow) d. Rey Misterio Jr. & Sin Cara in a table match; Cody stopped a springboard move by Sin Cara by shoving him off the ropes, causing him to fall through two tables on the floor.
-Antonio Cesaro d. "R-Truth" Ron Killings with the Neutralizer to retain the U.S. Title.
-Kofi Kingston d. Wade Barrett after Trouble In Paradise to retain the Intercontinental Title.
-The Shield(Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns) d. Ryback & Tag Team Champions Hell No(Kane & Daniel Bryan) when Reigns pinned Bryan after an assisted superbomb through a table.
-Eve Torres d. Naomi Night with the snap neckbreaker to retain the Women's Title.
-The Big Show d. Sheamus O'Shaunessy in a chair match to retain the World Title after hitting Sheamus in the back with an extra-large steel chair.
-Alberto Del Rio, Mike Mizanin, & The Brooklyn Brawler(no, really)(w/ Ricardo Rodriguez) d. The 3-Man Band(Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre, & Jinder Mahal); Miz hit the Skull-Crushing Finale on Mahal, then tagged in Brawler to finish with the "Brooklyn Crab".
-Dolph Ziggler d. John Cena in a ladder match with the Money-In-The-Bank briefcase on the line.  A.J. Lee stopped Vickie Guerrero from interfering, but then dumped the ladder when Cena nearly had the briefcase...Ziggler superkicked Cena and retrieved the case after that.  The match's highlights reportedly included the first-ever Cena-canrana...wait, what?

ROH + SICW

ROH TV

-Commentators:  Kevin Kelly & Caleb Seltzer.
-Davey Richards d. Vinny Marseglia after a sliding buzzsaw kick; Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish watched the match from the entranceway.
-An injured Mike Mondo did a fired-up promo vowing to return and be better than ever, but he was interrupted by Roderick Strong.  Strong insulted Mondo and kicked his bad ankle, which brought out Michael Elgin to confront his rival.  Truth Martini tried to make peace but Elgin threw Truth aside and Strong hit Elgin with one of Mondo's crutches before leaving the ring.
-Jay Briscoe d. Tag Team Champion Steve Corino in a street fight; Jimmy Jacobs got involved which brought out Mark Briscoe to even the sides(and provide extra weaponry).  Eventually security had to get them both out of there...and Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander showed up to take them out with stereo dives off the top ropes!  In the meantime, two tables had been destroyed and Briscoe got the win after a superplex onto a piece of guardrail set up across four chairs!
-Heavyweight Champion Kevin Steen surveyed the carnage after the main event, then addressed his own Final Battle issue with El Generico...he never got over Generico forcing him out of ROH two years ago.  He vowed to leave Final Battle as either the champion or a corpse...well, that seems excessive.

SICW Wrestling Explosion

-Commentator:  Larry Matysik.
-Larry conducted an extended sitdown interview with promoter/executive producer Herb Simmons about the show's impending two-year anniversary and the history of wrestling in the St. Louis area.

Saturday SICW Results From East Carondelet, IL + Other Show Results

-Gary Jackson, Moondog Rover, & Jimmy Douglas d. Max Archer, Jake Dirden, & Brent Myers in an elimination tag match.  Rover pinned Myers after a frontslam, then Archer rolled up Rover with a handful of denim.  Dirden was disqualified for throwing Douglas over the top rope, leaving Archer by himself...Jimmy finished things for his team with the backcracker on Archer.  Sole survivors:  Gary Jackson & Jimmy Douglas.
-The Big Texan d. Brandon Gallagher after the chokeslam.
-Chris Hargas won a triple threat match with Waco and Tony Raze when he pinned Raze after a modified F-5.
-Several special guests made an appearance:  Larry Matysik, Danny Boy Hawkins, Butcher Salviccio, manager Big Daddy, and Barbara Goodish(wife of the late King Kong/Bruiser Brody).
-Alexandre Rudolph d. Bobby D after the half-nelson suplex.
-Several options were possible for the "pick your poison" match, but the one selected was the best-of-three-falls stipulation...
-Dave Vaughn(w/ Travis Cook) d. Chaz Wesson in a best-of-three-falls match.  Vaughn stalled for most of the match and got plenty of distraction help from his manager before scoring the first fall after the spear.  Wesson tried to even things up, but Cook distracted him from going for the pin after the Pedigree.  The time limit expired, leaving Vaughn as the winner by a score of 1-0.
-Brian Kelley of the Missouri Wrestling Revival website presented a lifetime achievement award to promoter Herb Simmons.
-Former local wrestler Randy "Krazy Kid" Curry made an appearance to say a few words and show off his full-back Brody tattoo...that's dedication.
-Ron Powers & Ken Kasa(w/ Travis Cook) d. Classic Champion Ricky Cruz & Sean Vincent.  The Cruz/Vincent team was doing great for a while, but Vincent appeared to tweak his knee after hitting a missile dropkick on Kasa.  Vincent was helped to the dressing room area, leaving Cruz to take a two-on-one beating from his opponents.  Vincent limped back out to ringside in an effort to help, but Powers attacked him and Kasa took out Cruz with the John Wu Dropkick to score the surprising pinfall on the Classic Wrestling Champion!  Powers & Kasa weren't done as Powers destroyed Vincent's knee with a chair afterwards.  Travis gloated about his team's feats...only to get decked by Cruz in response!
-Gary Jackson won a battle royal.  Eliminations:  Max Archer, Alexandre Rudolph & Chris Hargas(a Hargas clothesline sent both men out of the ring), Brandon Gallagher, Tony Raze, Waco, Brent Myers, Dave Vaughn(by Chaz Wesson, getting some payback for his earlier defeat), Chaz Wesson(by Jake Dirden).  Dirden and The Big Texan double-teamed Gary but it backfired as Dirden booted Texan by mistake.  Dirden seemed upset about the miscue at first, but took the opportunity to dump Texan out of the ring.  That left Jackson and Dirden, who had a spirited exchange before Gary low-bridged Dirden to the floor for the win!

NXT + Impact

WWE NXT6

Commentators:  Tom Phillips, S. William Regal, & Jim Ross(for the main event).  Ring announcer:  Summer Rae.

Paige Knight vs, Sasha Banks:  Sasha is making her NXT debut...she's got the looks, let's see how she measures up in terms of in-ring talent.  Hey, technical wrestling, I remember this!  Sasha has some good aerial moves but Paige may have the advantage in terms of killer instinct.  Paige hits the Paige Turner(Lightning Spiral) out of nowhere to get the duke...would like to see these two get more time at some point.

Tony Dawson does a backstage interview with Roman Reigns...he cops an attitude with Dawson and then just walks away from the interview when he gets a phone call.

Elsewhere backstage:  Kassius Ohno and Leo Kruger enlighten us.  They've got issues with Richie Steamboat, Trent Barreta, and now Regal.

Oliver Grey vs. Erick Rowan(w/ Bray Wyatt):  Rowan is the newest member of the Wyatt family as introduced by Wyatt himself.  I don't see this being too competitive...after Rowan gets his marching orders, the bell ring and Wyatt takes a seat in the rocking chair to observe the carnage.  Squash is in season...Wyatt's disciple wins easily with a sideslam.  Bray officially introduces Rowan(no first name) afterwards...

Commissioner Dusty Rhodes pays a visit to put the kibosh on Vickie Guerrero's bounty on Big E Langston...but he gets interrupted by Donny Camacho.  Camacho tried to collect the bounty...he needs the money because Hunico is "stuck in Mexico".  Big E makes his entrance and Dusty proposes a handicap match for next week:  Langston against Camacho and a partner of his choice.

Special message from World Champion The Big Show:  He's answering Bo Dallas' open challenge to any WWE wrestler and that match will happen next week.

Seth Rollins vs. Jinder Mahal for the NXT Title:  To put the taping schedule in perspective:  Jinder's finally in the 3-Man Band gimmick on this show, but Rollins is still a face.  This is a rematch from the tournament final to crown the inaugural champ.  J.R. replaces Phillips at the broadcast table.  YAY WRESTLING~! to start, though Mahal tries to stall and seek refuge in the ropes.  Seth controls the early stages of the match, but Jinder stops a springboard move by shoving Rollins to the floor.  Mahal targets the back and neck to set up a potential camel clutch...Rollins tries to fight back but gets crotched on the top rope.

Seth finally gets some separation with an enzuigiri...that sets up the full-fledged comeback and the match degenerates into a slugfest.  Seth sends Mahal to the floor with a clothesline...then nails the suicide dive!  Back in, springboard knee trembler...gets 2 1/2.  Top-rope Frankensteiner hits but Mahal rolls through into a sunset flip...for two.  Rollins unloads with kicks but gets caught in a tilt-a-whirl slam...for two.  Jinder goes to the second rope but jumps off into a dropkick...but Seth's blind charge hits only turnbuckles.  Mahal pummels him in the corner...bad move as Seth powers him up into a turnbuckle powerbomb!  Avada Kedavra blocked, full nelson slam blocked, but Mahal hits the high knee from behind and goes for the camel clutch!  Seth quickly gets to the ropes to escape, then rolls through a rollup attempt to hit Avada Kedavra!  Rollins hits the Asai DDT(now called the Skywalker) and that's enough for the win to retain the title!

Seth celebrates his win, but happens to cross paths with Corey Graves in the front row...looks like that's our next title feud.

Next week:  World Champion The Big Show vs. Bo Dallas, Big E Langston vs. Donny Camacho & a partner of his choice.

TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay, Todd Keneley, & Taz.
-Velvet Sky d. Madison Rayne with the sitout Pedigree.
-Wes Brisco & Garett Bischoff(w/ Kurt Angle) d. Robbie E(ckos) & Robbie T(erry) when Wes pinned Robbie T with a Steamboat Press.  After the match, a member of the Aces & Eights ran out and clipped Angle's knee.
-Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy & James Storm d. Anarchy Wrestling TV #358

Commentators:  Bret(t) Wolverton & Chuck Porterfield(making his first appearance on this show).

Aaron Epic vs. Eddie Graves:  Both men are making their Anarchy debuts.  Solid outing for both men...Epic gets the win with a big knockout punch.

Tag Team Champions The Urban Assault Squad(Shadow Jackson & Nemesis) vs. Worst Case Scenario(Ethan Chase & Eli Evans), non-title:  This could be a long night for our new duo...but the champs may be looking past their upstart opponents.  Once the UAS members get serious, things go downhill for Ethan & Eli in a hurry...Evans gets a flurry of offense, but Shadow hits a low blow behind the referee's back followed by a Stone Cold Stunner.  Nemesis follows that up with the running senton to get the win.

Backstage:  Jeff G. Bailey & Miss Rachel confer with Jerry Palmer(w/ Jagged Edge) about his cage match with Mikael Judas...Judas is still hurting from the gauntlet match at Fright Night so he's sure he's got this.

Time to hear from the three new singles champs:  Heavyweight Champion Brodie Ray Chase, T.V. Champion Billy Buck, and Young Lions' Champion Stryknyn.  Okay, so Brodie does all the talking...that'll work.  Unfortunately we get a visit from the NWA Elite:  Shaun Tempers, B(r)o Newsom, Jeff G. Bailey, & Miss Rachel.  Bailey gripes that Tempers was in the ropes when he got pinned and adds that Buck signed to wrestle a ten-minute match for the title, so the overtime shouldn't have occurred.  Bailey orders referee Dee Byers to return the belt to Newsom, but promoter Franklin Dove intervenes...Dove says they made an agreement to settle the controversy:  A best-of-five series for the now-vacant title.

Billy Buck vs. B(r)o Newsom(w/ Shaun Tempers), Match 1 Of 5:  Buck looks to finish with the Buck Wild superkick, but a timely foot grab by Tempers allows Newsom to get the cheap rollup with a handful of tights.  Buck goes after Newsom but is quickly jumped by Tempers and Jacoby Boykins...Chase and Stryknyn re-enter to run off the heels and Brodie issues a challenge for a six-man tag RIGHT NOW!

Heavyweight Champion Brodie Ray Chase, Young Lions' Champion Stryknyn, & Billy Buck vs. Shaun Tempers, B(r)o Newsom, & Jacoby Boykins(w/ Miss Rachel):  The momentum shifts a few times, but the Elite members finally take control after breaking up Stryknyn's Tourniquet(Anaconda Vise) on Tempers.  Stryknyn comes back with a spear on Tempers and tags are made to Brodie and Boykins...the new Heavyweight Champ fires up as the other four take their fight to the floor.  Brodie finishes off Jacoby with the double-underhook DDT, but Bailey leads the troops out to the ringside area...

Se7en brawls with Chase and levels him with a pump kick as the other Elite members do some damage to Stryknyn and Buck.  Mikael Judas comes in for the save, but Se7en kicks him in the bad leg and Judas goes down like a ton of bricks.  Judas tries to keep fighting and sets up a chokeslam on Se7en but the knee gives out and the Elite members pounce.  Chase, Stryknyn, and Buck re-enter the fray but the damage has been done...Judas can barely get back to his feet under his own power and needs Brodie's help to limp back to the dressing room.

Next week:  Mikael Judas vs. Jerry Palmer in a cage match.

-Ricky Cruz d. The Big Texan(w/ Ron Powers) in a falls-count-anywhere match to retain the Classic Title; Powers' interference backfired and Cruz got the win after the superkick.

Saturday MMWA Results From St. Louis, MO + Other Show Results

-Brandon Espinosa d. Andrew Wilder after the Combover(cobra-clutch Stroke).  After the match, Espinosa issued a challenge to Jr. Heavyweight Champion Max Archer, saying it had been too long since he'd held a title in this area...
-Battle Royal Champion Dave Osborne d. Matt King(non-title) via cobra clutch.
-Chase King d. Webmaster Stevie K after an axe kick.
-Chase King won a battle royal to capture the Battle Royal Title.  Eliminations:  Several wrestlers joined forces to dump The Big Texan.  Espinosa threw out Wilder, then the Kings eliminated Stevie K.  Archer took a beating from Espy and the Kings but then Chase threw out Matt.  Espinosa eliminated Archer, seemingly leaving Espy and Chase in the ring.  Archer low-bridged Espinosa out of the ring to cause his elimination...since champion Osborne refused to enter the ring at any point in the match, the referees ruled that he was disqualified and Chase was declared the new titleholder.
-Gary Jackson d. The Big Texan to retain the Heavyweight Title.  Texan chokeslammed Gary and laid back for the pin attempt, but Jackson crucifixed him into a pin for the win.
-Brandon Espinosa d. Max Archer after the Combover to win the Jr. Heavyweight Title.  A highly-confident Espinosa called out Gary Jackson to put HIS belt on the line as well, but Gary was attacked from behind by Dave Osborne leading to a three-way fight.  Espinosa dove off the top rope onto both men at ringside, but Osborne recovered and laid him out with a swinging uranagi backbreaker before the referees restored order.

The Submission Squad(Evan Gelistico, Gerald James, & Dorian Victor)(w/ Gerald's Mom).  Dangle tried to hypnotize Gerald back into his Barn Owl personae but the Squad broke him out of his trance.  Despite that, the Bearded Men came out on top...after a sequence of dives, The Big Owl pinned Dorian after a frog splash.

Darin Corbin won a four-way dance with Dan Walsh(C), Evan Gelistico, and Darin Childs to become the new Heavyweight Champion; Adam Raw was the special guest referee.  Walsh was surprisingly eliminated first when Corbin rolled him up out of nowhere.  Childs was the next to fall as Gelistico stole the pin after Corbin's Soul-Crushing Finale.  Evan nearly won with the Gateway City Stretch but Corbin fought out of the hold and went on to get the deciding pin after the Soul-Crushing Finale!

In a rematch almost two years in the making, Davey Vega finally scored a hard-fought victory over former Ring Of Honor Champion Davey Richards, making him tap out to a modified Sharpshooter!

Midweek wrestling

WWE Main Event

-Commentators:  Michael Cole & Mike Mizanin.

U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro & Wade Barrett; R-Truth blind-tagged into the match and Cesaro set up Kofi for the Neutralizer, but Truth came off the top rope with a sunset flip.  Cesaro tried to block it but Kofi hit him with Trouble In Paradise and Truth completed the pinning combination for the three-count.

TNA XPlosion

Commentators:  Jeremy Borash & Todd Keneley.

Samoa Joe vs. Kid Kash for the T.V. Title:  Joe dominates for quite a while, but Kash dropkicks the knee to halt his momentum.  Kash stays on the leg until a striking exchange ends in Joe's favor...Kash fights out of a muscle buster and ranas Joe to the floor(going over the top rope himself).  However, Joe is merely annoyed by Kash's efforts and counters an O'Connor Roll by pulling Kash down into the Kokita Clutch...the tapout is academic.

WWE NXT6

Commentators:  Tony Dawson, S. William Regal, & Jim Ross(for the main event).  Ring announcer:  Byron Saxton.

U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro vs. Michael McGillicutty, non-title:  This should be...interesting.  MM has been a fan favorite in some recent outings and this appears to be no exception.  He hits the Perfect Dropkick in the early going but gets dumped on the turnbuckles by the U.S. Champ.  Regal notes that Cesaro's offense is focused on the midsection...perhaps to set up the Neutralizer.  Fine back-and-forth matchup between these two...MM gets a few surprise near-falls, but Cesaro stops him with a thumb to the eye and then a pop-up European uppercut.  Neutralizer hits and that's the ballgame.

Bo Dallas vs. Axl Keegan(w/o entrance):  Keegan is making his NXT debut, but he's got a tough task ahead of him despite a slight size advantage.  Bo appreciates the competition and rallies with a belly-to-belly suplex before finishing with the spear.  Bo speaks to the people after the match...he's lost a few fights lately but he wants to face the best opponents.  On that note, he issues an open challenge...hmm...

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Corey Graves:  Yoshi lives!  Unfortunately, Graves wants to make an impact and jumps Tatsu in the aisle before the opening bell.  Yoshi fights back once the match officially starts, but Graves is quick to take out the leg.  Corey stays on the injured limb for a few minutes...Yoshi rallies but the leg is giving him problems.  The big roundhouse kick is blocked and Graves takes him down straight into the Fuller Leglock(now called the Thirteenth Step) for the submission.

Gavin Reid vs. Roman Reigns:  Another debuting wrestler has an uphill battle ahead of him.  Roman jaws with the fans as he wears Reid down with a CRAVATE~!...yeah, this looks like a squash to me.  Reigns finishes at his leisure with the Moment Of Silence(Protobomb)...apparently he has that "it factor" I've heard so much about.  Roman dumps Reid to the floor and calls Byron into the ring...only to insult him and shoo him out of the ring.

Tom Phillips interviews Tyson Kidd about his feature match tonight...but Kassius Ohno interrupts him.  Ohno gloats about putting Richie Steamboat on the shelf but Kidd is not deterred...

Tyson Kidd vs. Leo Kruger:  J.R. joins Regal at the broadcast table for this one...YAY WRESTLING~!  Leo gains control after Kidd's cross-body attempt hits only ring ropes...but Kidd comes back with the proverbial educated feet.  Kidd launches a springboard elbowdrop but Kruger raises the knees...Leo follows up with a big clothesline for a near-fall.  Kruger goes to the top rope...not really his territory and we see why as Kidd pops up with an armdrag off the turnbuckles.  Leo rolls out, but a plancha fakeout by Kidd leads to a running punt from the apron...springboard move is met by a raised boot but this time Kidd sees the counter coming and gets a hold of the foot.  Sharpshooter...no, DUNGEON LOCK is applied and Leo taps!  Kidd barely has time to celebrate before Ohno runs in to attack from behind...the numbers are against him and they hit a combination roaring elbow/Kruger's End(Shortcut).  The heels stand tall...and Regal leaves the broadcast position to pull Tyson out of the ring, then help him to the backstage area.  Interesting...

Next week:  Seth Rollins vs. Jinder Mahal for the NXT Title.

Dynamo Special Comment

It will be tough to comment on this show from an unbiased perspective for obvious reasons, but I'll give it a shot...

Yes, this was a LONG show...it started around 7:00 and ended around midnight(with an intermission after the Alaskan Death Match). I guess it was a case of putting everyone on the show that wanted to be on the show...on top of that, several people worked twice(regular match and battle royal).

The "pre-show match" had SOME GCW connections...Max Archer did a lot of officiating in the GCW days and wrestled a match or two under that banner. Also, Tiffany LaFane was in the corner of Brandon Gallagher...not sure what happened to her new recruit El Sanchez...

On the ring announcing front, Luke Roberts handled the duties for most of the night with a cameo or two from one of GCW's original ring announcers, "The Ikon" Brian Thompson. They did a ten-bell salute for Adam Starr, though they did NOT announce the intermission as being "brief".

Always good to see Daizee Haze...she's been out of wrestling for a little while and I don't know if she's done for good or not. Didn't get much of a chance to talk to her or Delirious; I guess they had to get back on the road for the Chikara show that Sunday.

Sean Vincent reverted to his heel roots for this night...first as "Slim Sexy" against MsChif, then as the "Head Sexy Official" in Mike Sharona's match with Nikki Strychnine. Technically Sharona's a face in Dynamo, but Vincent was biased towards his old Syndicate stablemate in that contest.

Jynx's brother Patrick Smalls returned to officiate a few matches...yes, I had to resist the urge to bust out the old heckle: "You're killin' me, Smalls!" Jynx and Jackal fought a ton of times Back In The Day(tm) and had a fun quick matchup.

C.J. vs. Electro was more danceoff than match...entertaining for what it was.

Ken Kasa went back to his old ring name of Ian Storm for the night...didn't see if he was wearing the "TOOL" T-shirt. Keith Smith Jr. had only wrestled one previous match(a tag match in SICW with his father against Sean Vincent & Travis Cook) and mostly took abuse as the least experienced member of the team. The OSWs CHEATED TO WIN~! with Coach Farley passing in a chain.

Tommy Jeans paid a visit with a primo heel promo en route to introducing Jack Adonis...too bad The Grand Poobah couldn't make it. It was a slight surprise to see Aurora in Jack's corner. Of course the Alaskan Death Match was insane...while longtime fans know what Outtkast can do, it can be an eye-opener to see him do some of his aerial moves. Both men were bloody and multiple chairs were destroyed in the making of this matchup.

Not sure if the fans knew who to support in the Sharona-Strychnine matchup. Nikki was always one of those heels that people "loved to hate" and had his own cult following(including one fan affectionately known as "Satan").

Steven Kennedy vs. Makaze was almost a "breather" match in the sense that it was a standard contest as opposed to the hardcore bouts that preceded it. Kennedy came out with Tiffany in a nod to the Ego Express days and even had the old GCW Light Heavyweight Title belt(as this was hyped as a battle between the first and last titleholders).

Strangely, this was Travis Cook's first appearance as a HEEL manager under the GCW banner as he was briefly a face with Shorty Biggs. Shorty had a busy night as he also worked MECW in Wood River. Don't know if Kevin is returning to action for good...he had moved out of the area but may be back in town.

I'm selectively observant, but how long has Delirious been wrestling barefooted? The match with Billy was very good but the fans were kinda dead for it...maybe they were worn out from the lengthy show but I couldn't say. I had to go around the ring to meet up with Delirious on his way out...yes, the Wayne's World cap was sent flying. :-D

Tiffany was out with Kennedy but not with Karrington. I don't know if there was a ban-from-ringside for most of Karrington's crew, though I imagine Greg Jovi would have had a "manager's license". It seemed like this would be the show-ender, but not quite...

The Gateway Rumble featured a couple of dual entries...after the members of D.N.S. were eliminated, they came back out as Team Trainee. There could have been a few more, depending on your theories as to the identities of the masked participants. Pete Madden had an entertaining encounter with an inanimate object(Johnny Greenpeace's Tree)...bwahahaha. In other notes, Pondula jumped up from his internet broadcast table to participate but was tossed quickly...and I'd heard a few interesting theories about the identity of Super Castaldi but I can't confirm anything. I may or may not have been offered a spot in the battle royal...but trust me, I don't belong anywhere near the inside of a wrestling ring. :)

Good times all around...probably had more meaning to a "GCW fan" than to a wrestling fan not familiar with the promotion, of course.

Wrapping up the year, we have St. Louis Anarchy on Friday and MMWA at South Broadway on Saturday(rumored to feature the return of Brandon Espinosa), then SICW in East Carondelet next week. Been an eventful year...looking forward to the shows!

Anarchy Wrestling TV #357

Commentators:  Tim E.D. & Brett Wolverton.

Mikael Judas vs. Jacoby Boykins(w/ Jerry Palmer & Jagged Edge):  This is the first match in a gauntlet for Judas and he takes the fight to Boykins right away.  Jagged Edge is in the position of being Palmer's personal security guard.  Boykins powers out of El Crucifijo to finally get some offense going...and Palmer gets in some cheapshots behind the referee's back.  Jacoby goes after the knee, something that could be a longer-term problem in this particular situation.  Boykins hits his trademark powerslam but doesn't go for the pin, leading to Judas doing the Zombie Sit-Up(tm Undertaker).  Judas starts fighting back and Boykins goes back to the knee, but Judas muscles up to send Jacoby to Chokeslam City...one down, two to go!

Mikael Judas vs. Se7en(w/ Jerry Palmer & Jagged Edge):  Judas throws Boykins into Se7en on entry...he stays in attack mode, then mocks Se7en a bit by doing his own jumping elbowdrops.  Palmer distracts Judas from delivering another chokeslam, then Jagged Edge slides in a chair and Se7en takes out Judas' bad leg with it!  That's a DQ, but Se7en decides to seriously earn that disqualification before the final match of the gauntlet...

Mikael Judas vs. Bryan Cassanova(w/ Jerry Palmer, Jagged Edge, Jeff G. Bailey, & Miss Rachel):  Cassanova's been MIA for a while, but he may have an easy time with the injured Judas.  Cassanova spends a lot of time posing instead of going for the kill...he hits the TKO but only gets 2 1/2.  Cassanova goes after the achy-breaky knee and hooks the figure-four leglock(complete with rope grab for illegal leverage)...Judas powers into a reversal until an unseen-by-the-ref eyerake by Palmer stops him.  Judas finally does reach the ropes for a break but he's in big trouble...he tries to set up a finisher but the knee won't hold up.  Cassanova goes for his own chokeslam but Judas fights out, then tries for El Crucifijo but the knee gives out.  TKO attempt is blocked and Judas tries for El Crucifijo again...THIS time he hits it and gets the win!

Palmer freaks out and destroys some of the Halloween decorations with his axhandle...aww.  This means Palmer will have to step in the ring with Judas...

Shaun Tempers(w/ Jeff G. Bailey) vs. Brodie Ray Chase for the Heavyweight Title:  Brodie's a huge underdog, but he's pinned the champ in a few non-title situations recently.  Chase outwrestles Tempers in the early minutes of the match...he targets the arm until Tempers sends him into the ropes with a yank of the tights.  The fans rally behind Brodie and he fights back into the match...Rachel distracts the ref from seeing a few pin attempts, so Chase plants a kiss on her!  Tempers charges and accidentally knocks Rachel off the apron, then Brodie reverses into KICK WHAM DOUBLE-UNDERHOOK DDT!  Cover and pin(though the ref misses the foot on the bottom rope)...new champ?  No, senior official(and NWA Elite stooge) Brent Wiley runs in and orders the match to continue!

Tempers jumps on the opportunity, KICK WHAM RUDE AWAKENING...but official Dee Byers stops Wiley from making the pin count because he's not the assigned ref for this bout.  A shoving match leaves Wiley on his rear end and the locker room empties to rally behind The Stray Cat...the combatants duke it out in mid-ring but Tempers rams him into the corner to block another double-underhook DDT.  Rude Awakening attempt is countered into a backslide attempt(shades of a previous tag match finish between the two) but Tempers fights out of THAT...only to get rolled up out of nowhere for the flash pin!  This time it's for real...we have a NEWWWWW Heavyweight Champion!  Brodie, Buck, and Stryknyn all pose with their newly-won belts...

Azrael & Slim J(w/ Dan Wilson) vs. The Urban Assault Squad(Shadow Jackson & Nemesis)(w/ Jerry Palmer), barbed-wire match for the Tag Team Titles:  This is in clipped format...it's a hardcore-style match with two sets of ropes wrapped in the wire.  Nemesis hangs Slim J from the broadcast table until The Rev bashes him with a computer keyboard.  Shadow drops Azrael on a bunch of chairs with a 1031 Spinebuster from the apron to the floor.  Back in the ring, Slim J is wrapped to a table with barbed wire and Nemesis puts him through the table with a senton bomb off the top rope...yeah, that'll do it and we have NEWWWWW Tag Team Champions!  Palmer and the UAS members hang Wilson over the ropes for fun...they're about to add some barbed wire to the equation but Chase and Judas arrive to run them off.
