Q'N'D MMWA King Of St. Louis (Cable) Cup Tournament History

10/29/2011 in Lemay, MO:

-Stacey O'Brien kicked off the show by saying that Madison Rayne had taken a flight back home because she was scared to wrestle her, then issued an open challenge that was answered by Jimmy D.
-The Lumberjacks(w/ Dave Hebner) d. The Big Texan & Tony Raze(w/ Waco) to win the Tag Team Titles; chaos erupted at the end of the match and Abe pinned Raze after hitting him with his own nightstick.
-King Of St. Louis Cable Tournament: T.V. Champion Brandon Espinosa d. Dave Osborne(n/t). Osborne nearly scored the upset after hitting a released dragon suplex, but made the rookie mistake of pulling Espinosa up from the pin to dish out more punishment. Espy was able to recover and hit a flying roundhouse kick off the second rope to notch the victory.
-KOSLC Tournament: Phil E. Blunt(w/ Leo) d. Jr. Heavyweight Champion Johnny Courageous(n/t) after hitting him with Leo's briefcase as the referee was distracted by the parole officer.
-KOSLC Tournament: Battle Royal Champion Dave Vaughn d. Max Archer(substituting for the injured Sean Vincent) with the spear(n/t).
-KOSLC Tournament: Heavyweight Champion Gary Jackson d. Ace Hawkins via Texas Cloverleaf.
-KOSLC Tournament: T.V. Champion Brandon Espinosa d. Phil E. Blunt(w/ Leo) by countout(n/t). I didn't catch the gist of the earlier promo segment with the two(the house microphone wasn't the best) but I think Blunt did it to "apologize" for busting up Espinosa's previous title match with Gary(at the last South Broadway show). Espinosa was fine with getting a free ride to the finals, but received an impromptu challenge...
-Brandon Espinosa d. LaMarcus Clinton with the frog splash to retain the T.V. Title.
-KOSLC Tournament: Heavyweight Champion Gary Jackson d. Battle Royal Champion Dave Vaughn(n/t); Vaughn hit the spear and laid back for the cover, but Jackson crucifixed him for a quick pinfall.
-Stacey O'Brien d. Jimmy D; Jimmy attempted a powerbomb, but Stacey countered the move and fell on top for the three-count.
-KOSLC Tournament: T.V. Champion Brandon Espinosa d. Heavyweight Champion Gary Jackson(n/t); Jackson nearly got him in the Cloverleaf but Espy rolled him up with a handful of tights for the cheap victory.

9/22/2012 in Lemay, MO:

-King Of St. Louis Cable Tournament Quarterfinal: Brian James d. Jr. Heavyweight Champion Max Archer after the sitout gourdbuster.
-Tournament Quarterfinal: Battle Royal Champion Dave Osborne d. Lumberjack Abe(w/ Gabe & Dave Hebner) after a missed avalanche by Abe.
-Tournament Quarterfinal: Ricky Cruz d. Ken Kasa(w/ T.V. Champion Dave Vaughn) after Vaughn's interference backfired, allowing Ricky to hit the Cruz Control.
-Tournament Quarterfinal: Lumberjack Gabe(w/ Abe & Dave Hebner) d. Jimmy D after a sideslam.
-Gary Jackson d. Jake Dirden by rolling through a slam attempt into an inside cradle, retaining the Heavyweight Title.
-Tournament Semifinal: Battle Royal Champion Dave Osborne d. Brian James after a swinging uranagi backbreaker.
-Tournament Semifinal: Ricky Cruz d. Lumberjack Gabe(w/ Abe & Dave Hebner) after Abe accidentally hit his brother with a chair.
-Tournament Final: Battle Royal Champion Dave Osborne d. Ricky Cruz by countout; the referee had been knocked down and Ken Kasa ran in to attack Cruz. Ricky fought back and the fight went out of the ring, leading to Cruz being counted out and Osborne winning the tournament.

11/9/2013 in St. Louis, MO:

-The Lumberjacks(Abe & Gabe) d. Moondog Rover & Jackson Whitechapel(w/ Sean Orleans); Whitechapel badmouthed his partner and Moondog took a walk, leaving him to be pinned by Gabe after the Lumberjacks' double suplex.
-Heavyweight Champion Brandon Espinosa and Mephisto addressed the fans before the start of the tournament. Espinosa claimed he had a deal with Mephisto that they would challenge for the vacant Tag Team Titles if Mephisto won the tournament(since the winner could challenge for ANY championship), thus winning them by default. Mephisto offered his opponent A.J. Williams a job(cleaning his house, driving his car, working in his field) if he would lay down for him but Williams emphatically refused that "offer".
-King Of St. Louis Cable Tournament Quarterfinal: Battle Royal Champion Mephisto d. T.V. Champion A.J. Williams(non-title); Jimmy D distracted Williams and the referee, allowing Mephisto to hit A.J. with brass knuckles and get the pin with feet on the ropes.
-Tournament Quarterfinal: Ace Hawkins d. Jr. Heavyweight Champion Andrew Wilder(non-title) with a rolling prawn cradle.
-Promoter Tony Casta introduced former champion Steve Sharp who said a few words to the fans.
-Tournament Quarterfinal: Dave Osborne d. Da'Marius Jones after a cobra clutch suplex.
-Tournament Quarterfinal: Brian James d. Jimmy D. Williams distracted D as payback for his interference earlier in the night; James went on to win with the sitout gourdbuster.
-The Missouri State official presented awards to Tony Casta, his wife Wanda, Gary Jackson, The Lumberjacks, and senior referee Jim Harris. The Lumberjacks and Harris both announced that they would be retiring after the December MMWA show.
-Tournament Semifinal: Battle Royal Champion Mephisto d. Ace Hawkins(non-title). Wilder ran out to hit Hawkins with a low blow behind the ref's back; Mephisto took advantage with the Air Raid Crash for the win.
-Tournament Semifinal: Brian James d. Dave Osborne with the sitout gourdbuster. James offered a handshake after the match and Osborne accepted.
-Brandon Espinosa d. Gary Jackson by DQ to retain the Heavyweight Title; the stipulation was that Gary would not get any more title shots as long as Espinosa is champion. Gary seemed to have the match won with the Texas Cloverleaf but Mephisto interfered and blatantly hit ESPINOSA with the title belt, thus getting Jackson disqualified.
-Tournament Final: Brian James d. Battle Royal Champion Mephisto to win the tournament. Espinosa blatantly hit Mephisto with his title belt at one point(in an attempt to get James disqualified), but senior referee Jim Harris said they wouldn't pull the same trick again and ordered the bout to continue. With Mephisto stunned, James put him away with the sitout gourdbuster to win the tournament.

9/13/2014 in St. Louis, MO:

-King Of St. Louis Cable Tournament: Tag Team Champion Da'Marius Jones d. Barackus(w/ J-Mal Swagg); miscommunication between the Elitism members led to Jones hitting the Paydirt out of nowhere for the upset win (5:40). Barackus and Swagg argued after the match but Swagg talked Barackus out of a potential clawhold.
-King Of St. Louis Cable Tournament: T.V. Champion Moondog Rover d. Kevin Lee Davidson(w/ Sean Orleans) by DQ(non-title) when Davidson attacked Rover's leg with a chair (5:47). Davidson was replacing Tony Kozina as Co-Commissioner Jim Harris ruled Kozina ineligible due to losing his qualifying match at the August show. Gary Jackson, Brian James, and Jackson Whitechapel finally hit the ring to run off Davidson after he continued to assault Rover's leg with the chair. Harris ordered Davidson to face Rover in a no-DQ match at the Herculaneum show in two weeks, but also ruled that Rover was unable to compete in the tournament final due to his leg injury.
-LaMarcus Clinton & Chase King d. Andrew "The Wolf" Wilder & Johnathan Zulu to earn a future shot at the Tag Team Titles; Zulu blocked King's attempt at a low blow, but LMC kicked him below the belt as the referee was checking on an injured Wilder on the floor. Chase took advantage with a Protobomb on Zulu to get the pin (6:58).
-"Da Bomb" Brian James won a triple threat match with Big Dave Osborne(C) and Heavyweight Champion Brandon Espinosa to win the Survivor Title, pinning Espinosa after the sitout gourdbuster (5:30).
-Brandon Espinosa won a triple threat match with Survivor Champion "Da Bomb" Brian James and Dave Osborne to retain the Heavyweight Title; James hit the sitout gourdbuster on Osborne, but Sean Orleans distracted James and held his foot as Espinosa stole the pinfall on Osborne (2:51).
-King Of St. Louis Cable Tournament: Tag Team Champion A.J. Williams d. Evan Gelistico with a reverse cross-armbreaker (10:12).
-King Of St. Louis Cable Tournament: "Night Train/Gorgeous/Great One" Gary Jackson d. J-Mal Swagg with the Texas Cloverleaf (5:46). Barackus came out with Swagg but left before the -match started.
-"Risky Business" Everett Connors d. Sean Orleans with the guillotine legdrop to retain the Jr. Heavyweight Title (4:37). J-Mal Swagg attacked Connors after the match until Jackson Whitechapel made the save...Orleans challenged Connors to defend his title against Swagg at the Herculaneum show and Co-Commissioner Jim Harris made it official.
-King Of St. Louis Cable Tournament Finals: Tag Team Champion Da'Marius Jones won a three-way dance with Tag Team Champion A.J. Williams and "Night Train/Gorgeous/Great One" Gary Jackson (T.V. Champion Moondog Rover was injured and unable to compete in the scheduled four-way tournament final). A.J. broke up Jackson's Cloverleaf on Jones with a pair of superkicks and pinned Gary for the first elimination (5:43). The Tag Champs had to fight it out for the tournament victory and Da'Marius defeated Williams after the Paydirt (8:22). After the match, Jones announced that he was cashing in his tournament win against Espinosa at the next South Broadway show on October 11th...in a 60-Minute Ironman Match!
