-Commentators:  Kevin Kelly & Nigel McGuinness.

-Heavyweight Title Tournament:  Michael Elgin d. Kevin Steen by escaping a package piledriver attempt and taking him down into the Crippler Crossface for the tapout.
-Next week:  Elgin vs. Cole in the tournament finals.

-Gary Jackson fought Dave Vaughn(w/ Travis Cook) to a ten-minute time-limit draw.

Anarchy Wrestling TV #400

-Commentator:  Bret Wolverton, Jonathon Feldner, & Andrew Pendleton III.
-Clips:  Joey Rhymer d. B.J. Hancock by DQ.  B.J. repeatedly refused to go for the pin, pulling up Rhymer after a superplex, top-rope kneedrop, and sitout Tombstone(!)...that led to the disqualification.  Rhymer was injured and had to be helped back to the dressing room.
-Clips:  Tag Team Title Contenders' Tournament:  Heavyweight Champion Jeremy Vain & Brodie Ray Chase d. The Urban Assault Squad(Shadow Jackson & Nemesis).  Geter's stablemates tried to soften up Vain before his title defense against the big man later in the night, but Vain was able to pin Shadow after the VDT.  Nemesis hit Vain in the injured ribs on the way out of the ring.
-Cody Hall d. Paul Jordane by pinfall with the iron claw.
-Alabama Attitude(Mike Posey & Corey Hollis) d. The Movement(Najasism & The Vandal); Posey raised the knees to block Najasism's frog splash and Hollis got the pin after a spinning elbowsmash.  Posey wanted to fight promoter Franklin Dove at the next show, but Dove booked him to face Caprice Coleman instead.
-Geter d. Jeremy Vain to win the Heavyweight Title.  Vain was already hurt from the earlier tag bout and Geter dominated the action.  Vain hit a desperation VKO and VDT, but he couldn't immediately make a pin cover and Geter kicked out at two.  Geter dropped him with a belly-to-belly suplex and followed up with the big splash...the three-count was a formality after that.  Shadow & Nemesis celebrated with the new titleholder afterwards...Brodie helped his partner out of the ring as he was unable to leave under his own power.  LIGHTS OFF LIGHTS ON and number-one contender Mikael Judas stood in the audience to stare down his rival...the locker room emptied to make sure the situation didn't get out of hand.

Comedy Part 502: Surprise Guest Set

Location:  Jilly's Steakhouse
Emcee:  Bobby Jaycox
After:  Jim "The Dad" Keith
Before:  Shaun Arredondo

Had only planned to be a spectator, but Bobby asked if I wanted to do a guest set.  I can honestly say that I wasn't fully prepared, but I worked in a few newer jokes along with some tried-and-true material.  In the end, it was a solid five minutes or so...the show was filled out by Erik Anker and Gabe Kea.  Glad to get back on stage...I had been sick and didn't have much of a voice for a few weeks.

WWE NXT

Commentators:  Tom Phillips & S. William Regal.  Ring announcer:  Kendall Skye.

Earlier today:  Tyler Breeze and C.J. Parker both met with Raw General Manager Brad Maddox to petition for a spot in tonight's Tag Team Turmoil match.  Since neither man had a partner(despite Breeze's suggestion to clone him), Maddox said the two of them would be a team.  Presumably NXT G.M. Dusty Rhodes is still on the shelf after getting PUNCHed out by The Big Show...

Tag Team Turmoil:  We start with Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady...BA-DA BOOM!  Realest guys in the room!.  They're hotter than the peppers that Peter Piper picked!  They're like Cottonelle tissue because they're on a ROLL...and the other teams are like Cottonelle because they're S-A-W-F-T!  Team #2 is Parker & Breeze...the partisan crowd seems to like Breeze more than Parker, notably.  Parker gives Amore an airplane spin before dumping him face-first to the mat, then hits a double-knee in the corner...but wastes time jawing with his partner and misses the tag being made.  Cassady immediately grabs Parker in a swinging sitout uranagi and that's all she wrote!

Team #3 is Alexander Rusev & Scott Dawson(introduced by Sylvester Lefort) and these teams have some history.  Big Cass maintains his dominance against Dawson, then takes out Rusev with IT'S THE BIG FOOT...for two.  Enzo tags in and runs right into a Samoan Drop...good one.  Dawson gets the tag and plants Amore with a spinebuster, but Enzo small-packages him out of nowhere for the flash pin!  Rusev dishes out some immediate retribution, leaving Amore & Cassady in bad shape...

Enter The Ascension(Conor O'Brian & Rick Victor) as team number four...Amore & Cassady get an ad break to rest, but things look bleak for them.  Enzo's in no condition to fight and Cassady takes a beating from both opponents...but Cass stops O'Brian with IT'S THE BIG FOOT for a surprise two-count.  Amore tags in and runs into a Flapjack...this just hasn't been his night.  Total Ascension finishes it as Victor pins Enzo for the win.

Bayley Rose vs. Sasha Banks(w/ Summer Rae):  Renee Young joins the broadcast team because...why not?  Bayley breaks in the corner with a high-ten...but Sasha doesn't take that well and slaps her down in short order.  Bayley gets a La Majistral for a quick two-count, but a corner headscissors goes awry and Sasha drops her face-first to the mat.  Bayley rallies, but Sasha walks up the ropes for a flying armdrag...only to miss a Stinger Splash.  Bayley hits a belly-to-belly hug-plex...for two.  Sasha pulls Bayley down from the ropes again, landing her throat-first on the top rope...Sasha ends it with a straitjacket neckbreaker.  Summer enlightens us...Johnny Fandango will be here next week.  They dealt with NXT Women's Champion Paige Knight and also Emma Tayla...but Emma hits the ring to take exception to that.  Summer and Sasha were just leaving.

Aiden English vs. Bull Dempsey:  English is sporting a beret, shades, and scarf this week...yes, he sings his way to the ring once again.  Despite a size and strength disadvantage, English controls most of the bout...bowing legdrop sets up the Take a Bow(turning Side Effect) for the easy win.  Encore~!

Backstage, Renee gets a word with Summer...she challenges Emma to find a partner to face her and Fandango next week.

Sami Zayn vs. El Local:  OLE~!...but who would be more inspired by that in this particular bout?  Phillips notes that Zayn recently made his WWE live event debut in Canada...good for him.  Zayn goes on offense early, but Local hits a nice STO backbreaker to slow him down.  Zayn launches El Big Comeback(so to speak) and gets the pin after a corner boot...he's ready to go for the gold!  Speak of the devil...here's NXT Champion Bo Dallas.  He's happy that Zayn is following the lead of his great mentor...he's cleared to return after Zayn heartlessly injured him at SummerSlam Axxess.  Don't worry, Bo forgives Sami for that.  Next week will be the Bo Dallas Invitational and anyone who can beat the champ will earn a title shot.  Don't Stop Bo-Lieving!  Zayn wants to throw his hat in the ring, but Bo doesn't like being interrupted.  One day, he may have his own Zayniacs...but for now, Zayn isn't welcome to enter the invitational.

Backstage, Maddox meets with Kassius Ohno...Ohno wonders why he's been off TV lately since he's been medically cleared for a while.  Brad tells him that certain people(not himself, of course) keep Ohno on the sidelines for the fun of it.  Ohno keeps pushing to get back into the swing of things and Maddox says he'll face a member of the Wyatt Familiy next week.  That's his shot at revenge after they put him on the shelf in the first place...good luck?

Enter C.O.O. Triple H...he slaps a few hands on the way to the ring, but the fan response is still mixed.  After some name-dropping of NXT guys, he notes that any job openings could easily be filled by the people down here.  HHH brings out the issues with the Rhodes family...because of the tension involved with that situation, he has given Dusty some "time off" because it's Best For Business(tm).  Your interim General Manager:  John Bradshaw Layfield!  The fans really ARE chanting his name this time around, but he shushes the fans in a hurry because this isn't "sing along with The Wrestling God".  He trashes Dusty and his whole family, saying this new role is Best For Business(tm)...EVERYONE gets an evil boss storyline~!

TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay & Taz.
-Eric Young, Joseph Park, & Women's Champion O.D.B. d. The Bro Mans(Robbie Eckos & Jessie Godderz) & Gail Kim; Park hit Godderz with the splash off the second rope, Young hit the Macho Elbow, and O.D.B. got the pin after her own big splash.
-Austin Aries d. Kenny King with the brainbuster; King had challenged Aries because he was upset about Aries sneaking into the X-Division Title situation under the Suicide^H^H^HManik mask.
-Manik d. Chris Sabin(w/ Velvet Sky) to retain the X-Division Title; Sabin faked an injury and hid behind Velvet several times, but Manik reversed a rollup into a modified small package for the win.  Sabin attacked after the match but Aries(who had a brief backstage confrontation with Sabin earlier in the night) ran him off.
-Sting, Samoa Joe, & Brutus Magnus d. Wes Brisco, Garett Bischoff, & Mike Knux; The Extraordinary Gentlemen's Organization(Bobby Roode, Christopher Daniels, & Frankie Kazarian) attacked and injured Magnus during the bout, but Joe still got the win over Wes with the Kokita Clutch.  Heavyweight Champion Bully Ray(w/ Brooke Tessmacher) dumped Wes from the Aces & Eights afterwards, giving him the piledriver and forcing Garett and Knux to relieve him of his biker vest.

SICW Special Comment

Onward to East Carondelet!

My friends Drew and Gary had issues with road construction on the way to the show. I had totally forgotten about that; I hit those detours on the way home from BOTH shows the previous weekend. The Poplar Street Bridge had been looking(and feeling) like an incomplete jigsaw puzzle for a while now.

Anywho, your ring announcer was Ben Simon. Lots of hype for the October shows with the Honky Tonk Man and Hacksaw Jim Duggan appearing.

Was wondering if the opener would go to a draw(it had a ten-minute time limit)...right after I thought that, Bobby D got the pin. Shows what I know. SICW and MMWA seem to be the only area groups that still bother with a time limit...the ring announcer even makes announcements for time elapsed at five-minute intervals. More on that later.

Not fond of handicap matches in general as mainstream promotions have really overused the gimmick. (The Raw main event was a rare example of the concept actually working despite the oddball setup.) This one was okay for what it was. Seems odd to see Gallagher working face. I immediately dubbed the Shorty/Gallagher tag team "Black & Blue"...I apologize, ladies and gentlemen.

The tag match got a good bit of time and was solid. Daniel Eads is inexperienced but has a good look and physique(plus actual gear~!).

We DID get a draw in Jackson-Vaughn...guessed it with the ten-minute limit. The time limit is so rarely used in wrestling these days; a lot of wrestlers don't get the "sense of urgency" that goes along with trying to win the match before the clock ticks down. It's almost an artifact in that sense, but it can be effective in the right context; heels have used it to great effectiveness with Television Titles by stalling out the clock.

Tony Raze tried to use both handcuffs and nightstick to his advantage, but Dirden just won the match before it resulted in a disqualification. Last month seemed to set up Dirden teaming with Gary Jackson against Texan & Waco, so maybe that'll happen on one of the October events.

Not often that we see Chaz against a larger opponent, but his aerial style works well in that context. Wesson wins by DQ but Bronson is still positioned as a destructive monster.

Well-played ref bump in the Flanagan-Powers match...this feud MUST CONTINUE~! It seems like these two would work well with each other.

Solid main event. Nice touch with them using each other's signature moves. The setup is there for The Unlikely Duo(tm) of Cruz & Powers to fight Kasa & Flanagan...though the heel side may have issues over Flanagan wanting the belt.

Nothing next weekend with MECW's cancellation, but October will be BUSY. For me, it looks like this:

Friday 10/4: St. Louis Anarchy in Alton, IL
Saturday 10/5: Dynamo in Glen Carbon
Saturday 10/12: SICW in Belleville
Saturday 10/19: SICW in East Carondelet
Friday 10/25: Dynamo at Pop's in Sauget
Saturday 10/26: CSCW in Swansea

The Hillsdale show has been an annual back-to-school thing for a little while.  It had previously been a joint effort for MMWA and SICW; since the official split of the groups, SICW made it their rare stop on the Missouri side for the year.  With the roster limited to Missouri-licensed wrestlers, a few MMWA guys worked both area shows.  Chris Roedel did the ring announcing in Ben Simon's absence and Commissioner Keith Smith refereed all bouts.

Da'Marius Jones is a rookie in the area and only recently debuted.  He had a couple of good bouts with Brandon Espinosa last Saturday...oddly enough, the SICW upset carried over to Jones getting a title shot at MMWA that night.  Liked the second match a bit better than the first.

Versatility is good in indy wrestling because the promoter may need you for a specific role.  Sometimes they need a face, sometimes they need a heel, and sometimes they just need some cannon fodder.  Face time is face time.

The kids practically rushed the ring when Ricky Cruz broke the pinata over an opponent's head...heh.

A good time was had by all...wasn't too talkative at that weekend's shows due to a temporary loss of voice(long-ish story).

Espinosa's been through the face/heel revolving door lately and that's just in MMWA.  It looks like he's definitely a heel...for now.

Didn't care for Moondog-Whitechapel.  Again.

Wilder-Hawkins was pretty good despite a couple of rough spots(unfortunately including the finishing rollup).  It happens sometimes.

Liked A.J. Williams-Dave Osborne...David-Goliath is always a good story to tell, simple and straightforward.   Jimmy D was apparently only there for a run-in as he didn't have a match.

Solid James-Raze matchup.  James continues to be a solid guy.  I'm torn on Raze as I've seen him in decent stuff and also in some not-so-decent stuff; guess it depends on who he's working with.

Odd to bring out Freddie Fury only to swap him out.  The tag match...would...not...end.  It nearly went to a fifteen-minute draw and then it just ended in the last minute.  I swear most Broadway shows this year have either featured a rope malfunction or a messed-up dive out of the ring...J-Mal Swagg was the unfortunate subject of the latter event.  Yeah, didn't care for this one either.

Good show-closing angle to set up next month's main event, though it was odd to position the Lumberjacks as faces after they'd just worked as heels in the prior bout.  Gary did a stretcher job after the spike piledriver because IT'S A MOTHERFARGING SPIKE PILEDRIVER and that's what you do after you get hit with one.

SICW East Carondelet commentary should be done in the next day or so, readers(yes, both of you).

-Chaz Wesson d. Bull Bronson by DQ when Bronson threw Chaz over the top rope.  Wesson re-entered the ring and dropkicked Bronson to the floor, then dove off the turnbuckles only to get caught by Bull and slammed on the floor!
-Flash Flanagan d. Ron Powers; the two brought chairs into the ring but Powers accidentally hit the referee on the backswing.  Flanagan took advantage of the situation and nailed Powers with his chair while the official was down, then covered as the ref recovered to make the three-count.
-Ricky Cruz d. Classic Champion Ken Kasa(w/ Travis Cook & Dave Vaughn) by DQ.  The two were familiar enough with each other than Kasa hit Cruz with his own superkick for a near-fall, then Cruz retaliated by hitting Kasa with his own John Wu Dropkick.  Kasa went on to deliver a blatant kick to the groin as Cruz was leapfrogging out of the corner, thus getting disqualified to save the belt.  Cruz fought off Kasa and Vaughn after the match until Flanagan joined the fray...and that brought out Ron Powers.  Cruz and Powers cleared the ring, leading to a tense staredown between the former rivals.

WWE NXT

Commentators:  Tom Phillips & Alex Riley.  Ring announcer:  Byron Saxton.

Sami Zayn vs. Curt Hawkins:  This is a rematch from Zayn's debut...OLE~!  Zayn outwrestles him early, but Hawkins slows him down with the Norman Smiley-style swinging bodyslam.  Sami mounts a comeback only to get run into the ringpost...Hawkins keeps him down until mutual clotheslines put both men on the mat.  Looks like El Big Comeback for real...the corner boot misses but he nails the Steamboat Press for two.  Hawkins stuns him with a semi-Pele Kick...for two.  Elevated DDT(Edge-style~!)...gets two-and-a-half.  Hawkins stops the ropewalk tornado DDT attempt and hits a faceplant out of the back suplex setup...for two-and-a-half.  Curt loses his cool and slaps Zayn around...but that just fires him up.   A big boot out of nowhere stuns Hawkins and this time Zayn nails the ropewalk tornado DDT for the win!

Aiden English vs. Michael Culari(?):  English narrates his own entrance...in song.  It doesn't take long for the fans to hate him after that...heh.  The opponent wrestles for Ring Of Honor as Q.T. Marshall, if I'm not mistaken.  English dominates, taking a bow before hitting a jumping legdrop.  He finishes with a cobra clutch into a modified Side Effect..."Take A Bow"?  Okay then.  He does a post-match encore because he is the very model of a modern major superstar...darn it, now it's stuck in MY head...

Backstage, Renee Young interviews NXT Champion Bo Dallas...he's testing a new fan hotline in BOlivia(ha ha).  Zayn got himself a pretty nifty win, but it's not like Hawkins has won anything lately...and it's not like Bo has any say in who gets a title shot.  He'll have an announcement next week about how the next challenger will be determined...in the meantime, don't stop Bo-lievin'...

Also next week:  Special announcement by Triple H, plus a tag team turmoil match to determine the next NXT Tag Team Title challengers.

Tag Team Champions Corey Graves & Adrian Neville, Xavier Woods, & C.J. Parker vs. The Ascension(Conor O'Brian & Rick Victor), Leo Kruger, & Tyler Breeze:  It's three, three, three feuds in one!  YAY WRESTLING~!  The good guys make quick tags to work on Victor and then Kruger.  The tempo changes when O'Brian gets the tag and the heels isolate Graves for a little while.  For his part, Breeze stays back near the ringpost and seemingly wants no part of his partners.  Xavier rallies against Kruger and the heels regroup on the floor, but Graves and Parker hit stereo baseball slides and then Woods and Neville follow up with planchas!

A well-timed foot grab by O'Brian allows Kruger to hit Woods with a spinebuster...just like that, the heels are in command.  Breeze finally tags himself into the match(to Conor's annoyance) only to tag back out at the slightest sign of resistance from Xavier...ha ha.  NOT THE FACE~!  Woods finally reverses a suplex on Breeze and tags are made to O'Brian and Parker...the house is ablaze!  Graves takes himself and Victor out of the game and O'Brian plants Parker with a full nelson slam, but Neville makes the save.  C.J. runs into a Flapjack and Breeze tags himself into the match AGAIN, covering...for two.  Parker fights back and the other heels finally take a walk, leaving Breeze all by his lonesome.  Parker hits a major uppercut, tags in Woods for Eat-The-Feet...then Woods tags in Graves for a running legdive...and finally Graves tags Neville for the Red Arrow(corkscrew shooting star press) and the pin!

TNA Impact(recorded in St. Louis, MO)

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay & Taz.
-Jeff Hardy d. X-Division Champion Manik(non-title) after the swanton bomb.  Chris Sabin & Velvet Sky watched the match from ringside and Sabin attacked Manik from behind afterwards.
-O.D.B. d. Mickie James with the BAM(TKO) to win the Women's Title.  Eric Young & Joseph Park celebrated with O.D.B. after the match but were interrupted by the Bro Mans(Robbie Eckos & Jessie Godderz), leading to...
-Eric Young(w/ Joseph Park) d. Robbie Eckos(w/ Jessie Godderz) via rollup in under a minute.  Robbie E claimed he wasn't ready and challenged Park...
-Joseph Park(w/ Eric Young) d. Robbie Eckos(w/ Jessie Godderz) via rollup in under a minute.  The Bro Mans attacked both men afterwards, but Park was busted open and fought them off.
-Tag Team Champion Phil Gunner(w/ James Storm) d. Shawn Hernandez(w/ Chavo Guerrero Jr.) after a uranagi backbreaker.  It was scheduled to be a tag match but Chavo claimed to be injured so it turned into a singles bout.
-The Extraordinary Gentleman's Organization(Bobby Roode, Christopher Daniels, & Frankie Kazarian) d. The Main Event Mafia(Sting, Samoa Joe, & Brutus Magnus); Roode pinned Magnus after hitting him with Sting's bat.
-The show ended with a verbal confrontation between A.J. Styles and Dixie Carter...it ended with Dixie lashing out at A.J. in a heelish manner.

WWE Raw

-Commentators:  Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, & John Bradshaw Layfield.

-Johnny Fandango(w/ Summer Rae) d. "R-Truth" Ron Killings after the guillotine legdrop.

-The Funkadactyls(Naomi Night & Cameron Lynn) & Brie Bella(w/ Nikki Bella, Eva Marie, & Jojo) d. Layla El, Alicia Fox, & Aksana Raudoniene when Brie pinned Aksana after the Bella Buster(X-Factor).  Women's Champion A.J. Lee and Natalya Neidhart did commentary.

-Mike Mizanin fought Randy Orton to a double countout.  The show was in Miz's hometown of Cleveland and Orton laid out Miz with a hanging DDT on the floor in front of his parents.  Randy finished by putting a chair around Miz's head and delivering a kneedrop to Miz's head.
-Jimmy & Jey Uso won a three-way dance with The Real Americans(Antonio Cesaro & Jack Swagger)(w/ Zeb Colter) and Tons Of Funk(Brodus Clay & Lord Tensai).  Cesaro pinned Tensai with an Oklahoma roll for the first elimination after a blind tag.  Swagger caught Jimmy Uso with a pop-up superplex, but Jey made his own blind tag and hit the splash off the top on Swagger for the pinfall.
-Daniel Bryan d. Tag Team Champion Roman Reigns(w/ U.S. Champion Dean Ambrose, Tag Team Champion Seth Rollins, & Randy Orton) by DQ when Orton broke up the Yes Lock.  The heels beat down Bryan and Orton prepared to do the chair kneedrop spot again, but several wrestlers ran down to fight off The Shield as Orton bailed.  The wrestlers celebrated with Bryan to end the show.

Jimmy & Jey Uso when Swagger made Jimmy tap out to the Patriot Lock.  The Prime Time Players(Titus O'Neil & Darren Young) d. The Real Americans(w/ Zeb) when Young pinned Swagger after the Gut Check.

-Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel & Paul Heyman d. C.M. Punk in a non-title no-DQ elimination tag match.  Punk made Axel tap out to the Anaconda Vise, but Ryback interfered on Heyman's behalf and speared Punk through a table; after that, Ryback put Heyman on top of Punk for the pin.

-Commentators:  Bret Wolverton & Andrew Pendleton III.
-Mike Posey d. Kyle Matthews by reversing an O'Connor Roll with a handful of tights.
-Geter d. Shaun Tempers(w/ Jeff G. Bailey) after a belly-to-belly suplex.  The locker room emptied to keep Mikael Judas from attacking Geter during the match and Bill Behrens was finally able to talk him out of it.
-Tag Team Title Contenders' Tournament:  Heavyweight Champion Jeremy Vain & Brodie Ray Chase d. The Washington Bullets(Jon & Trey Williams) when Brodie pinned Trey after the double-underhook DDT.
-Bobby Moore(w/ Charlie Cash) d. Billy Buck to retain the T.V. Title in a title-vs.-career match.  Young Lions' Champion C.B. Suave interfered which brought out Kevin Blue & Brandon Parker to run him off.  Buck appeared to get the pin after the Buck Wild superkick, but the referee waved it off after seeing Moore's foot on the bottom rope(where Cash had put it).  Moore BELTed Buck for a two-count but a second shot kept him down for three.

-Commentator:  Larry Matysik.
-Ricky Cruz won a triple threat match with Ron Powers and Flash Flanagan.  The bout was essentially no-DQ, something both Powers and Flanagan used to their advantage as they spent most of the match double-teaming Cruz.  The teamwork finally broke down as Flanagan accidentally hit Powers with a flying move off the second rope...Cruz fought fire with fire as he rolled up Flanagan with a handful of tights for the win.  The alliance between Powers & Flanagan blew up afterwards as the two squared off with chairs...cooler heads nearly prevailed until Powers punched Flanagan in the face.  Flanagan retreated after that...

-Moondog Rover d. Jackson Whitechapel after a flying forearm.

-Brian James d. Tony Raze after the sitout gourdbuster.
-Brandon Espinosa d. Da'Marius Jones to retain the Heavyweight Title.  Jones nearly upset Espinosa again, but Espy delivered a cheapshot to the groin via middle-rope kick; that gave him the opening to finish with a brainbuster.
-The Lumberjacks(Abe & Gabe) d. Webmaster Stevie K & J-Mal Swagg; Stevie was originally scheduled to team with Flaming Freddie Fury, but Fury refused to get in the ring so Stevie went to the backstage area and got Swagg as a replacement.  Abe pinned Stevie for the win after a double suplex.
-Battle Royal Champion Mephisto vs. Gary Jackson(non-title) never officially started.  Mephisto entered in a neckbrace(Gary piledrove him through a table at last month's show) and said he wanted to raise Gary's hand.  Gary took his offer in good faith but Mephisto hit him with the Battle Royal Title belt.  Espinosa ran into the ring and the two double-teamed Jackson before giving him a spike piledriver!  Brian James and the Lumberjacks ran off Espinosa and Mephisto, but the damage had been done and Gary had to be stretchered out of the ring.  Commissioner Tim Miller ordered an eight-man elimination tag match for the October show with Jackson, James, and the Lumberjacks against Espinosa, Mephisto, Osborne, and Jimmy D.

NXT + Impact

WWE NXT

Commentators:  Tony Dawson & S. William Regal.  Ring announcer:  Byron Saxton.

Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady vs. Alexander Rusev & Scott Dawson(w/ Sylvester Lefort):  Amore declares the opposition to be S-A-W-F-T; Lefort begs to differ.  Rusev's plank says "ENZO" on one side and "COLIN" on the other side.  Lefort refers to Dawson as "Captain Redneck"; wasn't that Dick Murdoch's nickname?  He dresses like TREVOR Murdoch, at any rate.  Oddly the face team is the first to take a cheapshot, but that ticks off Dawson.  He and Rusev hit a Hart Attack variant on Amore with Rusev hitting a spinning heel kick instead of a clothesline...but the referee decides to be really strict about the five-count and the "Lefort Legionnaires" get DQed.  Whoops.

NXT Champion Bo Dallas arrives to enlighten us.  He thanks his Bo-lievers for their support...meanwhile, he's getting booed as usual.  He's taken it upon himself to be Sami Zayn's mentor...he was injured recently but he has NO problem facing Zayn in the ring once he's cleared to return.  Of course, it wouldn't be a title match since he doesn't deserve it yet, and he doesn't make the matches anyway, right?  Don't stop Bo-lieving!

Backstage, Renee Young interviews C.J. Parker about his feud with Tyler Breeze.  Breeze loves his "outer self" but CJP is in touch with his "inner self".  Parker was just having fun, but Breeze doesn't find it funny and attacks C.J....cue selfie while posing in front of his downed rival.

NXT Women's Champion Paige Knight vs. Sasha Banks, non-title:  Okay, guess I should wait to call it a title match until they actually hype it as such.  The storyline is that Summer Rae has been pushing Sasha to make more of an impact by any means necessary...otherwise this is a face-vs.-face encounter.  Sasha gets a victory roll out of nowhere for an early near-fall, then does a rollup to send Paige falling backwards into the bottom turnbuckle.  Sasha realizes she's not winning the popularity contest tonight, so she slows the pace with a camel clutch and a sleeper-with-bodyscissors.  Paige floats out of a slam attempt to get a rollup for two...but Sasha cuts her off with a dropkick for two.  Back to the sleeper and bodyscissors but Paige rolls her back into a pin attempt...for two.  Suplex is reversed into a snap fisherman buster(!) by Paige and I smell a comeback...Paige gets Sasha in the ropes and hits a series of kneelifts.  Sasha gets a small package out of nowhere...for two.  Paige whiffs on a dropkick and Sasha hits a cross-bodyblock, but Paige rolls through to finally get the pin!  Paige celebrates and Sasha is crushed by the loss...Paige offers her hand and the fans want them to hug it out, ha ha.  Paige turns to leave and Sasha attacks from behind, dishing out a series of slaps before dropping Paige with a Terminus-style neckbreaker...ladies and gentlemen, we have a heel turn.

Backstage:  Summer's happy with Sasha and so is Sasha.

Xavier Woods vs. Leo Kruger:  Kruger attacked Woods backstage on last week's show, so here we are.  Xavier's ready to go but Leo stalls like an honorary Zbyszko...Woods finally grabs him by the hair but Kruger yanks his arm off the middle rope.   Time for some arm damage...PSYCHOLOGY~!  Xavier pulls off a flying headscissors and Leo rolls out of the ring, but the ensuing plancha hits nothing but floor.

Kruger keeps up the pressure with a hammerlock snap suplex before going back to the armholds...Xavier fights back with a dropkick but he gets caught in a side backbreaker for two.  Leo hits a Jackhammer(!)...for two.  Middle-rope elbowdrop(Bret-style) misses...rally time?  Looks that way...it's a one-armed flurry but it works.  A John Wu dropkick hits but the Honor Roll(forward-roll clothesline) is caught for a spinebuster by Kruger...for two!  Slice lariat misses and Woods hits the enzuigiri...Lost In The Woods(low-altitude Flatliner) HITS...for two!  IT'S MORPHING TIME~!  Honor Roll hits this time, then Eat-The Feet and Xavier gets the upset win!

TNA Impact(No Surrender-St. Louis, MO)

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay & Taz.
-Bound For Glory Series Semifinal:  A.J. Styles d. Austin Aries.  A.J. hit a Pele Kick as Aries was climbing the ropes, then delivered a second-rope Styles Clash(facing the ringpost instead of the ring) for the win.
-Bound For Glory Series Semifinal:  Brutus Magnus d. Bobby Roode by countering a Perfectplex attempt into a jackknife cradle.
-Bully Ray(w/ Brooke Tessmacher) d. Ken Anderson in a last-man-standing match to retain the Heavyweight Title.  Ray hit the referee and Anderson dropped Ray on a chair with the Mic Check but there was no one to make the ten-count.  Ray came back with a Bully Cutter, then Tessmacher hit Anderson with a low blow and the remaining Aces & Eights(Mike Knux, Wes Brisco, & Garett Bischoff) gave him a triple-team spike powerbomb.  Anderson got up after that and then after a chain shot but finally stayed down after getting speared through a table in the corner.  Ray delivered a piledriver on the entrance ramp after the bell.
-Bound For Glory Series Final:  A.J. Styles d. Brutus Magnus after the Spiral Tap.  The Extraordinary Gentlemen's Organization(Bobby Roode, Christopher Daniels, & Frankie Kazarian) attacked both men at one point but the match was allowed to continue.

Dynamo Special Comment

Hadn't gone to a wrestling show on my birthday before...there's a first time for everything. I feel old.

Dynamo's ramping up the schedule for October. Along with the usual Glen Carbon event, they're doing a show at Pop's and also debuting in Pittsfield. Pittsfield might be a bit out of my driving range, sorry to say.

I think multi-way schmozz matches have jumped the shark for me personally. Don't think a lot of these guys had been in that style of match before, plus the style didn't really fit some of them(Rudolph and Santel in particular). It was a good way to test the waters for C.J. McManus as he hadn't wrestled regularly in a long time.

I am wondering about the future of MECW...they've only run one show since February and the show scheduled for later this month was cancelled. On top of that, Santel and McDarby have been working Dynamo shows lately. It's too bad...MECW's shows introduced me to a lot of wrestlers who I wouldn't have otherwise seen.

With Mike Sharona returning to active competition, Mark Bland is now the resident authority figure in Dynamo. He and Travis Cook have had some heated political debates so they've already got some history.

I wonder if the current wrestling audience really "gets" the schtick of the old-school GCW crew like Nikki Strychnine and Jack Adonis. They've obviously not goody-goody faces and tend to cheat as an absolute first resort. The tag match turned into an impromptu no-DQ affair as Strychnine chased off the referee, leading to all four men brawling around the ring and chairs flying. Not sure why Steven Kennedy didn't wrestle on this show.

It's funny to think that MsChif used to wrestle the guys on a regular basis and win. Now it's unusual to see her against a male opponent...it was a competitive matchup but Dirden's been on a roll lately.

I was wondering why they set up Strychnine-Karrington a few days before the show...it was a tease of coming attractions as Karrington faked an injury, then threw his manager to the wolves and ran away.

If I really want to feel old, I simply recall that I first saw Billy McNeil vs. Dingo over a decade ago. Guess what? It's still a pretty cool match. Dingo seemed to play the subtle heel but the longtime fans still respect him.

Dynamo doesn't run as regularly as other groups so it's easy to forget that the Bumrush Brothers have been Tag Team Champions for over a year. They might be about due for a title switch in the near future...

With a face-vs.-face main event, there wasn't as much crowd heat as you might think. The stipulation was simply "no interference" and that was enough to keep people away from ringside...both guys threw their best shots and it took two Paydirts for Walsh to get the win. While they're pushing Walsh-Dirden, the post-match angle set up Walsh-Dingo at the next Glen Carbon show...maybe we'll get Walsh-Dirden at Pop's or in Pittsfield?

My schedule's been shuffled a bit...it looks like the comedy show will be on the 21st instead of the 14th. Also, as I noted, MECW on the 28th has been cancelled. Next Saturday will be SICW in Hillsdale as well as MMWA at South Broadway. SICW returns to East Carondelet on the 21st(will need to keep tabs on them through Wrestling Explosion). After that...October will be VERY busy. :)

WWE Raw

-Commentators:  Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, & John Bradshaw Layfield.
-The Cutting Edge returned in Toronto as Edge decided to interview Daniel Bryan instead of WWE Champion Randy Orton.  This didn't sit well with Orton and Triple H...and The Shield members dragged a beaten-up Christian Cage out to the stage.
-Kofi Kingston d. Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel(w/ Paul Heyman)(non-title) by DQ when Axel wouldn't stop beating down Kofi in the corner.  Heyman yelled at Axel(since a DQ on Sunday would mean he's left alone with C.M. Punk); Axel went back after Kofi and got wiped out by Trouble In Paradise.
-Bray Wyatt(w/ Luke Harper & Erick Rowan) d. Dolph Ziggler after the Sister Abigail.
-Natalya Neidhart, Naomi Night, & Brie Bella(w/ Cameron Lynn, Nikki Bella, Eva Marie, & Jojo) d. Layla El, Alicia Fox, & Aksana Raudoniene when Natalya made Alicia tap out to the Sharpshooter.  Women's Champion A.J. Lee did commentary.
-World Champion Alberto Del Rio d. "R-Truth" Ron Killings(non-title) with the cross-armbreaker.
-Santino Marella d. Antonio Cesaro(w/ Zeb Colter) with a hiptoss takedown into a flash pin combo.
-Damien Sandow d. Mike Mizanin via rollup after a distraction by Johnny Fandango & Summer Rae.
-WWE Champion Randy Orton d. Goldust(non-title); Goldust countered an RKO attempt into the Crossrhodes for a close near-fall, but fell to the RKO shortly after that.
