TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Josh Mathews & Taz.
-The show opened with Bobby Roode, who was still carrying the Heavyweight Title belt.  He vowed to get revenge on Eric Young and then called the champion Bobby Lashley to the ring to return his belt.  Roode told Lashley that he was owed a rematch and wanted it tonight...but Austin Aries made his entrance with his Feast Or Fired briefcase in hand.  He was followed by Montel Vontavious Porter who wanted his own title shot...Lashley said he'd fight all three of them in a four-corner title match.
-Taryn Terrell won a triple threat match with Gail Kim and Madison Rayne to retain the Women's Title when she pinned Rayne after the Diamond Cutter (5:57).
-Tommy Dreamer called out Eric Young for turning his back on Bobby Roode...he warned him to not burn his bridges with friends or the fans.  Young wasn't interested in Dreamer's message, but Dreamer asked Young if he had even ASKED for the title shot that he felt Roode owed to him.  That led to EY hitting Dreamer with a cheapshot and dropping him with the piledriver...he struck the timekeeper and brought in a chair, but Roode arrived to run him off.
-Brutus Magnus met with Bram Cameron at a bar to work out their issues...Magnus says his Feast Or Fired briefcase benefits them both since it's for a Tag Team Title shot.  Magnus said that Bram needs to get his temper in check before it derails his career again...and Magnus has a family to support nowadays.  Bram seemed to calm down and they talked things out...but then Bram attacked Magnus in a secluded section of the bar.
-Jeff Hardy d. Tag Team Champion Abyss in a Monster's Ball Match; the two brawled in the backstage area before the match officially started in the ring.  The rest of The Revolution(James Storm, The Great Senada, Manik, & Koya Sheba) got involved, but Matt Hardy assisted his brother with a kendo stick and The American Wolves(Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) ran out to help as well.  Jeff sunset-bombed Abyss off the turnbuckles onto thumbtacks, then finished with the swanton bomb (9:10).
-Rockstar Spud & Mark Andrews d. The Bro Mans(Robbie Eckos & Jessie Godderz)(w/ D.J. Shiima Xion, Angelina Love, Ethan Carter III, & Tyrus Clay); Spud hit the Acid Drop on Robbie E and Andrews got the pin after a shooting star press (2:35).  Tyrus attacked Spud and Andrews after the match while EC3 bad-mouthed the pair, setting up a handicap match at Lockdown next week.
-Bobby Lashley won a four-corner match with Bobby Roode, Montel Vontavious Porter, and Austin Aries to retain the Heavyweight Title when he pinned Aries after the spear (8:54 aired).  Eric Young had pulled Roode out of the ring and attacked him with a chair to take him out of the match.  Samoa Joe and Kenny King joined M.V.P. and Young in attacking everyone after the match...Kurt Angle and Phil Gunner ran off the B.D.C.
-After the match, Roode challenged Young to face him in the cage at Lockdown.  Angle said he had officially recruited Gunner for his team...Aries volunteered his services as well.  Angle extended the invitation for Lashley to join his team...Lashley turned him down and left the ring.
-Next week on the Lockdown edition of Impact:  Team Angle vs. Beat Down Clan in Lethal Lockdown, Roode vs. Young, Revolution vs. Hardys for the Tag Team Titles, Spud & Andrews vs. Tyrus, and Amazing Kong vs. Jessicka Havok.

Midweek wrestling

AAW Pro Wrestling Seasons 2 Episode 15

-Host:  Dave Prazak.  Commentators:  Phil Colvin, Jerome Cusson, & Derek St. Holmes.
-Breaking News:  All hell broke loose when Heavyweight Champion Eddie Kingston called out the locker room...and then Silas Young returned to blindside Kingston with a chair.
-"The Stache" Marion Fontaine & Zero Gravity(Brett Gakiya & C.J. Esparza) d. Justice Jones, Davey Vega, & Tony Kozina when Esparza pinned Kozina after the Flippy Cup 2.0 (Esparza suplexed a running Gakiya into a mid-air 450 Splash) (10:48).  Jones attacked Zero G after the match but "The Madman" Paco Gonzalez made the save.
-Backstage:  Scarlett Bordeaux was interviewing potential new proteges...Tag Team Champion Markus Crane was a bit too straightforward in his verbage and she took a pass.  Next up ws "Supercop" Dick Justice...he still couldn't see too well thanks to his own pepper spray so Scarlett said no.  A.C.H. entered...but Scarlett said the time for interviews was up.  Dick Justice wandered back into the room to interrogate SOMEONE...A.C.H. took his leave.
-"The Money" Matt Cage d. Johnny Gargano with the Money Clip(fireman's-carry boosted into a roundhouse right) (17:24).
-Backstage:  Heavyweight Champion Eddie Kingston congratulated Josh Alexander on giving him a tough fight.  Next up for him is Davey Richards...but he's oddly happy to be back at war with Silas Young.

Lucha Underground Episode 12

-Commentators:  Matt Striker & Vampiro.
-Backstage:  Promoter Dario Cueto met with Brian Cage during his workout...Cueto admired Cage's forwardness and said he would be getting his title shot at Prince Puma tonight.
-Fenix d. Mil Muertes(w/ Catrina Perez); Muertes delivered a superplex, but Fenix small-packaged him after the landing for the flash pin (3:45).
-The Crew(Cortez Castro, Mr. Cisco, & Bael) d. Super Fly, Aero Star, & Argenis when Castro pinned Aero Star after hitting the 3-D-into-Codebreaker double-team finisher with Cisco (10:55).
-Earlier today:  Vampiro did a sitdown interview with Lucha Underground Champion Prince Puma and Konnan.  He shook Puma's hand and wanted a word with the new titleholder, but Konnan insisted on doing the talking for his protege.  Vampiro gets tired of Puma not being allowed to speak for himself...the two nearly come to blows but Puma gets between the two.  There's a lot of prior bad blood between Vampiro and Konnan...
-Prince Puma(w/ Konnan) d. Brian Cage by DQ to retain the Lucha Underground Title; Cage pushed the referee into the rope as Puma went to the top turnbuckle, then blatantly kicked Puma in the groin for the disqualification (10:12).  Cage continued the abuse with a Gory Special into a Flatliner...Cage shoved the ref again, leading to Konnan hitting Cage across the back with his cane to stop a chokeslam attempt.  Cage beat down Konnan and laid him out with Puma's title belt, busting him open...he followed that up by ripping the title belt's strap in half.
-In Cueto's office:  Angela Fong confronted Dario and said she was looking for someone.  Cueto didn't know who she was talking about...her only response was "Matanza".

Comedy Part 545: Hey Guys, It's Hump Day

Location:  Hey Guys Comedy
Emcee:  Me
Lineup:  Barry Pultman, Gary Reinhardt, Greg McClintock, Joe "The Animal" Lancey, Brandon Judd, Caleb Mahoney, Gary Schultz, Amy Watson, Kurt Bobb, Rex & Echo Selix

It was a busy night as I was hosting and keeping time...decent audience for the show.  Got to try out a few new things and they went over pretty well.  I want to encourage everyone in the Metro East to support this club...it's a great place for shows and it's cool for local comics on the Illinois side to have a place to perform.  There are some really good upcoming shows...this coming weekend has Marc Price(Family Ties) as the headliner and next weekend has Bob Zany of Bob & Tom Show fame.

WWE NXT

-Commentators:  Tom Phillips, Jason Albert, & Alex Riley.
-Wesley Blake & Buddy Murphy d. The Lucha Dragons(Sin Cara & Kalisto) to win the Tag Team Titles; Kalisto hit the Salida Del Sol(sitout asai DDT) on Murphy, but Blake had made a blind tag and caught Kalisto in a victory roll-ish pinning combination for the three-count (4:00).  Wait, WHAT?!?
-Backstage:  NXT Champion Charlotte Flair confronted Bayley Rose over her actions on last week's show...they have to team up tonight, but they may not be on the same page.  Bayley said she was inspired by Sami Zayn putting niceness to the side for the sake of winning a championship.
-Elsewhere backstage:  Tyler Breeze said he would be watching the rest of the contenders' tournament very closely...
-NXT Title Contenders' Tournament:  "The Man That Gravity Forgot" Adrian Neville d. Tyson Kidd (11:44 aired).  During Kidd's entrance, there was a "glitch" in the video as if someone was hacking into the programming...I made out the name "Solomon".  About damn time, Mr. Crowe.  After the match, Greg Hamilton interviewed Neville and he vowed to regain his title.
-Backstage:  Sasha Banks said that she and Becky Lynch would win tonight...and Sasha said that Becky would "do the right thing" in the upcoming four-corner Women's Title match.  After Sasha left the room, Becky said she WOULD "do the right thing"...win the title.
-Elsewhere backstage:  New NXT Tag Team Champions Wesley Blake & Buddy Murphy celebrated their win...they'll defend their belts any time against anyone.
-NXT Women's Champion Charlotte Flair & Bayley Rose vs. "The Boss" Sasha Banks & Becky Lynch ended in a no-contest.  A miscommunication led to Bayley hitting Charlotte by mistake, then Charlotte attacked Bayley and the opposing team joined the brawl until the referee threw the match out (5:51).
-Backstage:  Devin Taylor interviewed Finn Bálor about his semifinal match with Hideo Itami next week...Itami joined the interview and they each vowed to do whatever it takes to win.
-Backstage again:  Devin interviewed Emma Tayla; Emma said things didn't go as planned on the main roster, so she's looking to start anew back at NXT.  She faces Carmella Van Damme next week.
-NXT Title Contenders' Tournament:  Baron Corbin d. Bull Dempsey with the End Of Days(short-arm Blackhole Slam into mid-air Flatliner) (1:32).
-Backstage:  Devin interviewed Corbin about his tournament win, but Dempsey interrupted to say things weren't over between them...
-NXT General Manager S. William Regal presided over the contract signing with NXT Champion Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.  Regal declared that any physical contact meant the cancellation of the match.  Zayn signed the contract but Owens hesitated since it was a non-title match.  Owens said it wasn't personal, just business...he fights to be the best and the title means more money and a better life for his family.  Regal was reluctant to make it a title bout but Zayn was willing to put the belt on the line...so Regal conceded and made it a championship match.
-Next week:  Itami vs. Bálor and Neville vs. Corbin in the contenders' tournament plus Emma vs. Carmella.

Q'N'D 2015 Royal Rumble Dork Stats

#1 & #2 Entrants:
Mike Mizanin & "R-Truth" Ron Killings

Awesome Truth exploded!  Was wondering if Damien Sandow would be #2...no such luck.

Final Entrant(#30):
Dolph Ziggler

After drawing #1 twice previously, Ziggler was due for some better luck...too bad he didn't last very long.

Winner:
Roman Reigns(#19)

A rare middle-of-the-pack entry for the winner...wonder if they'll get to the point where every number has won the Rumble at some point?

Runner-Up:
Alexander Rusev(#15)

The last part of the Rumble played out oddly with Reigns eliminating Show and Kane, Rock making the save when they attacked him, and THEN Rusev reviving on the floor after he'd practically been forgotten about.  It even fooled the timekeeper as I'm pretty sure I heard the bell ring after Show and Kane's eliminations.

Endurance Mark(per Wikipedia):
Bray Wyatt(46:58)

Honorable mention to Rusev(35:17).

Most Eliminations:
6(tie between Wyatt, Rusev, and Reigns)

They made a big deal out of Kane getting the cumulative elimination record with his run near the end of the match.  He had been right behind Shawn Michaels, but he passed his mark with his four eliminations(most of which were assisted by The Big Show).  Kane holds the record for the most Royal Rumble appearances with 16...make it 18 if you count Dr. Isaac Yankem, D.D.S. and Diesel The Second.

Anarchy Wrestling TV #468 (Seasons' Beatings Part 3)

-Commentators:  Brett Wolverton, John "The Body" Johnson, & Jerry Palmer.
-The Devil's Rejects("The Angel Of Death" Azrael & "The Lethal Dose" Stryknyn)(w/ "The Reverend" Dan Wilson) won a triple threat match with The Big F'n Deal("Wrestling's Most Dangerous Weapon" Geter & Brian Blaze)(C) and William Huckaby & Joe Black to win the Tag Team Titles; Azrael hit Huckaby with the Superman Punch and Stryknyn got the pin after the spear (9:18 aired).
-"The Priest Of Punishment" Mikael Judas, "The Temptation" Shaun Tempers, & "The Seven-Figure Deal" Ace Rockwell(w/ "The Reverend" Dan Wilson) d. "The No-Pain Train" Iceberg, "The Deadly Sin" Se7en, & Jagged Edge(w/ Agent/Attorney Jeff G. Bailey) when Tempers pinned Iceberg after the Rude Awakening (10:49 aired).

Note:  WWE Raw will be a clipshow tonight due to weather conditions in the area of the scheduled event.

WWE Royal Rumble

Antonio Cesaro & Tyson Kidd(w/ Adam Rose, Natalya Neidhart, & Rosebuds) d. Big E Langston & Kofi Kingston(w/ Xavier Woods); Kidd kicked out of an O'Connor Roll by Kofi that sent him straight into Cesaro's European uppercut from the arena floor.  After that, Kidd hit the swinging fisherman buster on Kofi for the win.

The Ascension(Konnor O'Brian & Rick Viktor) d. The New Age Outlaws(Road Dog & Billy Gunn) when Konnor pinned Gunn after the Fall Of Man(legsweep/flying European uppercut combo).

Jimmy & Jey Uso d. Mike Mizanin & Damien Sandow to retain the Tag Team Titles when Jimmy pinned Miz after the top-rope splash.

The Bella Twins(Women's Champion Nikki & Brie) d. Paige Knight & Natalya Neidhart; Brie pulled Paige off the apron to prevent a tag, then Nikki pinned Natalya after a running forearm smash.

Brock Lesnar(w/ Paul Heyman) won a triple threat match with John Cena and Seth Rollins(w/ Jamie Knoble & Joey Mercury) to retain the WWE Title when he pinned Rollins after the F-5.

Royal Rumble:
#1 Mike Mizanin
#2 "R-Truth" Ron Killings
#3 Buh-Buh Ray Dudley(!)...he and R-Truth double-teamed Miz and gave him the 3-D, then Buh-Buh eliminated Miz.
#4 Luke Harper...Buh-Buh threw out Truth as Harper was entering.
#5 Bray Wyatt...he and Harper briefly reunited and Bray eliminated Buh-Buh.
#6 Curtis Axel...Erick Rowan attacked Axel in the aisleway and entered the ring to join his former family members.  However, it wasn't a happy reunion as Wyatt & Harper ganged on him...Rowan nearly got Harper out but Wyatt dumped them both out of the ring.  (I guess Axel was disqualified or something.)
#7 The Boogeyman...they had a weird-off until Wyatt eliminated him.
#8 Sin Cara...he took a Sister Abigail and Bray dumped him out.
#9 Zack Ryder...Bray ate a Broski Boot but Wyatt threw him out.
#10 Daniel Bryan
#11 Johnny Fandango(w/ Rosa Mendes)
#12 Tyson Kidd
#13 Stardust...Bryan eliminated Kidd.
#14 Diamond Dallas Page(!)...Diamond Cutters were dished out for most of the field.
#15 U.S. Champion Alexander Rusev(w/ Lana Perry)...he quickly eliminated DDP and Fandango.  Wyatt eliminated Bryan with an assist from Rusev.
#16 Goldust
#17 Kofi Kingston
#18 Adam Rose(w/ Rosebuds)...he was quickly eliminated by Rusev, then Rusev threw out Kofi as well(after Kofi's usual near-misses).
#19 Roman Reigns...he quickly disposed of Goldust and Stardust.
#20 Big E Langston
#21 Damien Sandow...Miz tried to enter in his place but Reigns nailed Miz.  Sandow had a good offensive flurry before being eliminated by Rusev.
#22 Jack Swagger
#23 Ryback
#24 Kane
#25 Dean Ambrose
#26 Titus O'Neil...Reigns and Ambrose immediately double-clotheslined him out.
#27 Intercontinental Champion Wade "Bad News" Barrett
#28 Antonio Cesaro
#29 The Big Show...he and Kane double-teamed Ryback out, then Show eliminated Swagger.
#30 Dolph Ziggler.  Ziggler eliminated Barrett and Cesaro, but got PUNCHed by Show...Show and Kane dumped Dolph out after that.  Wyatt ate a PUNCH as well and was double-dumped by Show and Kane(though he set the endurance mark for the night).  That seemingly left Reigns and Ambrose against Show and Kane...but the size mattered and Show & Kane double-teamed and eliminated Ambrose.  Show and Kane got their signals crossed and tangled on the ropes, leading to Reigns dumping both over the top rope.  Show & Kane attacked Reigns and double-chokeslammed him, but THE ROCK made an appearance to clean house on the big guys.  Rusev suddenly re-emerged from the arena floor(he hadn't been eliminated), but Reigns speared him and threw him out to win the Rumble.

Comedy Parts 543-4: Hey Guys, Two More Shows

Location:  Hey Guys Comedy
Emcee:  Me
Feature:  Rob Neville
Headliner:  Mike Merryfield

The first Saturday show had the best crowd of the weekend...it was a lot of fun and things went really well.  I tried to switch up my material at these two shows compared to the ones on Friday.  The second show had a smaller audience but they were still cool...always appreciate the opportunity to perform on the weekend shows.  Thanks to Bruce Veach for giving me the hosting spot and to Rob and Mike for their performances...good times.

TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Josh Mathews & Taz.
-Feast Or Fired Match:  Robbie Eckos retrieved the first briefcase with an assist from Velvet Sky (1:18).  Rockstar Spud got the second briefcase by standing on Samuel Shaw's back as he was slumped over the turnbuckle (4:21).  Aries teased a dive with everyone else on the floor, but instead climbed the turnbuckles to grab the third briefcase (5:46).  Bram nearly got the last briefcase, but he got sidetracked by Gunner and Brutus Magnus took advantage to secure the last briefcase (7:46).  Other participants:  Crazzy Steve, Phil Gunner, Jessie Godderz(w/ Angelina Love), Samuel Shaw, Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, Bram Cameron, and D.J. Shiima Xion.
-Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley d. Kenny King(w/ Montel Vontavious Porter, Samoa Joe, & X-Division Champion Low-Ki) by DQ(non-title) when the Beat Down Clan broke up the pin after Lashley's spear (2:38).  M.V.P. told Lashley that if he wanted his stolen title belt back, he'd have to fight him on the street.
-Gail Kim d. Jessicka Havok by DQ; Havok kept attacking an injured Gail and shoved the referee when he tried to back her off (4:04).  Havok set up for a chokeslam but LIGHTS OFF LIGHTS ON and Amazing Kong was in the ring to confront Havok.  The two finally fought and Kong clotheslined Havok out of the ring.
-Koya Shera(w/ Tag Team Champions James Storm & Abyss, The Great Senada, & Manik) d. Tigre Uno after a Skyhigh (1:04).
-X-Division Champion Low-Ki & Eric Young d. Kurt Angle & Bobby Roode; M.V.P. and Samoa Joe distracted Angle and the referee, allowing Young to break up Roode's Crippler Crossface on Low-Ki with a chair to the back of the head.  That allowed Low-Ki to get the pinfall on Roode (5:13).
-Jeremy Borash(w/ Rockstar Spud) vs. Ethan Carter III(w/ Tyrus Clay) ended in a no-contest; EC3 spit on Spud and Spud rushed the ring to attack him (1:50?).  Tyrus laid out Spud with a heart punch, but British Boot Camp winner Mark Andrews jumped the guardrail to help his friends.  Spud hit a somersault plancha off the top rope onto Tyrus and Andrews followed up with a shooting star plancha on Tyrus!
-Matt Hardy d. Tag Team Champion James Storm with a small package (5:08).  Abyss attacked Matt after the match and held him for Storm's Last Call superkick.  Abyss brought out his nail-filled 2x4, but Jeff Hardy made the save before he could use it.  Jeff challenged Abyss to a Monster's Ball Match on next week's show.
-Christy Hemme presided over the Feast Or Fired briefcase reveal:  Rockstar Spud got the X-Division Title shot.  Brutus Magnus got the Tag Team Title shot...will he team with Bram?  Robbie Eckos(w/ Velvet Sky) protested that VELVET grabbed the briefcase, so she should open it...and that briefcase contained the pink slip, so Velvet was fired.  By process of elimination, that meant Austin Aries got the Heavyweight Title shot...woo.
-The show closed with the Lashley/M.V.P. street fight...the two brawled into the building until the other members of the Beat Down Clan and Eric Young assisted M.V.P. in attacking Lashley.  Kurt Angle and Bobby Roode finally ran off the heels and Roode picked up the title belt, taking a good long look at it before starting down Lashley.

Comedy Parts 541-2: Hey Guys, Hosting This Weekend

Location:  Hey Guys Comedy
Emcee:  Me
Feature:  Rob Neville
Headliner:  Mike Merryfield

I stopped by Dean Schardan's show at Hey Guys on Thursday and Bruce Veach asked me if I could host the Friday shows...then tonight he asked if I could host on Saturday as well.  Works for me.  The audiences for both shows were a lot of fun(my cousin and his friend were at the late show) and we had a good time...as host of a weekend show, I didn't want to stray too far from my standard formula.  I'll probably change things up a bit at tomorrow's shows, but not too much...hope to see some of you there!

-The Hooligans(Devin & Mason Cutter)(w/ "Buck Nasty" Bucky Collins) d. Zero Gravity(Brett Gakiya & C.J. Esparza) in a Berwyn Street Fight; Mason pinned Gakiya after The Hooligans delivered a Conchairto with a third chair wrapped around Gakiya's head and neck (13:38).

SICW Special Comment

Now, as promised, a special comment about Saturday's Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling show at the Community Center in East Carondelet, Illinois.

DISCLAIMER:  I'm biased.  Deal with it.

The local wrestling scene has exploded in the past year or so as the number of promotions has practically doubled.  It started with World League Wrestling moving to Troy, Missouri and running shows closer to the greater St. Louis area.  Several new promotions started in 2014 and early 2015:  Pro Wrestling Championship Series, High Risk Wrestling, the revival of Pro Wrestling Epic, and now World Powerhouse Wrestling.  The schedule will be very busy in the upcoming months, though not in the next two weeks.

Your ring announcer was Drew Abbenhaus; your referees were Terry Riley, Denny Thomas, and Keith Smith.

A little girl named Morgan sang the National Anthem...fine job.

Promoter Herb Simmons started the show with an update on Larry Matysik's medical condition, encouraging the fans to sign the giant get-well card for him.  I wish I'd visited him at Memorial Hospital while he was there, but it sounds like he's being moved to a nursing home.  It can't be easy to undergo such a drastic change in one's lifestyle and physical condition...all the best to him and hopefully we'll see him again soon.

"The Don Mega" Shorty Biggs vs. "Wildchild" Curtis Wylde(w/ Wyldefyre):  This was Wylde's first one-on-one match in several years after returning in a tag match at the December show.  It was mostly a comedy match in the early going, but it turned more serious once Wyldefyre's distraction allowed her man to take over.  Shorty rallied, but a tripup by Wyldefyre allowed Curtis to get the small package pin in 8:17 and score his first win in SICW.

Keith Smith Jr. vs. "Dead Sexy" Daniel Gunner:  This would explain the sudden influx of new officials...Jay King is still recovering from his heart surgery(he was in attendance for the show).  I believe Terry Riley was a semi-retired South Broadway referee (he officiated at the John Blackheart benefit in November).  This was Keith Jr.'s first one-on-one matchup; his pro debut was a few years ago at an SICW event where he teamed with his father against Sean Vincent & Travis Cook.  He also teamed with his father and Chaz Wesson at the GCW reunion show in late 2012, defeating Ian Storm(aka Ken Kasa), Chris Hargas, & David Cox.  Keith Jr. teamed with his father at the Blackheart benefit in a DQ win over Ricky Cruz & Attila Khan...and that was his entire in-ring history as far as I know.

Of course, singles competition is a different animal from tag matches; you can't just tag out to rest or collect your thoughts.  I thought he did well for a first effort, but the slight experience edge made the difference on top of some underhanded tactics.  Gunner won with a rollup and feet on the ropes for leverage...the rookie referee Denny Thomas didn't see the illegal tactic and counted the fall in 6:40.

Herb interviewed Big Daddy; the manager was accompanied by not only Red River Jack, but also Gary Jackson and Daniel Eads.  It was interesting to see RRJ in the house as I was half-expecting him to disappear with Ron Powers' official return to action.  Big Daddy talked about expanding his stable...he had a checkered past with Gary Jackson but respected him.  Also, he wanted to guide the career of a young talent, so he recruited Daniel Eads as well.  Big Daddy claimed to be a changed man, but you can never be too sure in the wrestling business.  At any rate, Travis Cook came out with his guys:  Ken Kasa, Attila Khan, and Bubba Troll(?).  It had already been announced that Bull Bronson was absent and Khan would be replacing him in the match with Powers; the war of words grew in tension until the referees had to keep everyone separated.  The promo segment segued directly into the next matchup...

"The Man Of Tomorrow" Daniel Eads(w/ Big Daddy) vs. Bubba Troll:  Travis didn't stick around for the match and neither did the other parties from the previous interview...I guess Troll was just there to fill out the heel side in Bronson's absence.  I have mixed emotions on Troll as he's a heel but wears the retro video game T-shirts.  I get the feeling Eads will be on the radar of the big companies in a few years once he has more experience.  Troll made the mistake of climbing the ropes...he missed a splash off the second rope and Eads won with a jackknife cradle in 4:34.

Cue intermission numero uno...the get-well card does bear my signature, yes.

"The Old School Warrior" Chaz Wesson vs. Ax Allwardt:  The ongoing series between the "old school warriors" continued here.  This seemed like their best match with each other...Ax tried a Flair pin with feet on the ropes, but this time referee Denny Thomas waved off the pin after noticing the illegal leverage.  Nice bit of continuity there.  Chaz fought back to win with a powerslam in 8:08.

"Your Canadian Hero" Sean Vincent vs. Brandon "Espy" Espinosa:  Espy's nickname seems redundant.  This was set up by last month's tag match where Vincent and Bobby D defeated Espy and Curtis Wylde...Vincent offered a handshake only for Espinosa to kick him in the groin.  This was Vincent's first singles match in over two years and it was quite a trial by fire as they went long here.  They had a solid match and I imagine their future bouts will be even better once Vincent works off more ring rust.  I had a conversation with someone about how the different promotions have different audiences, so you'll see guys work differently in front of one audience than they would in front of another.  Espy's a good example of that since he works for just about every group in the area.  They traded near-falls until the match ended in a 15:00 time-limit draw...as you'd expect, Vincent wanted five more minutes and Espinosa didn't.  Gosh darn it, they're just gonna have to wrestle each other again.  Gosh darn it.

"Night Train/Great One/Gorgeous" Gary Jackson & Big Jim Hoffarth(w/ Big Daddy) vs. "The King Of Chaos" Ricky Cruz & "Ironman" Ken Kasa(w/ Travis Cook):  There seemed to be trouble in paradise at the beginning as Ricky took exception to Cook's introductions of the team.  Ricky was never OFFICIALLY managed by Travis; it was just an alliance of convenience for his feud with Ron Powers/Red River Jack.  Add in the fact that Kasa won the Classic Title from Ricky under dubious circumstances...that powder keg was bound to reignite at some point.  Speaking of powder, that was the source of the problem in this matchup:  Travis tried to throw powder in Jackson's eyes, but Gary ducked and Ricky was momentarily blinded by mistake.  Cruz spent a minute or so at ringside cleaning his eyes...and then walked away from the match.  Is he turning face across the board?  Travis followed Ricky to the backstage area as he attempted to convince him to come back...but that left Kasa all by his lonesome against Gary Jackson and Jim Hoffarth.  Kasa tried to keep Gary from making the tag, but that didn't last and Hoffarth finally got in to overpower Kasa.  Hoffarth tagged Jackson back in for the finish and Kasa tapped out to the Texas Cloverleaf in 8:42.

Cue intermission numero dos...

Flash Flanagan vs. "Dirdey" Jake Dirden for the Classic Title:  Dirden hadn't received a shot at the title since Kasa held it; he had a few battles with Flanagan in the past with the sides even at one win apiece.  Dirden's pinfall over Flash was in a tag match with Ron Powers providing an assist; Flanagan's win was with the aid of the ropes for illegal leverage.  These guys had a pretty solid matchup...I could see this turning into a long-term issue, but it's hard to tell exactly how the championship picture will work out.  Flanagan's plan centered around damaging Dirden's hand in an attempt to neutralize Dirden's main weapons:  The Asiatic Spike and the chokeslam.  Oddly, Dirden made the same mistake that Troll did earlier by going for a move off the ropes...he missed the diving headbutt off the second turnbuckle and Flash DDTed him for the clean win in 10:06.  That was the longest match of the night; they don't have to be marathons, is what I'm saying.

Ron Powers vs. Attila Khan(w/ Travis Cook):  Interesting placement for this to be the finale.  I didn't expect it to be a technical classic and it definitely fit that bill.  It was an all-out fight and the referee seemed to allow a LOT of leeway for the first several minutes.  Powers hit Khan with a chair outside the ring, then they brawled to the backstage area and re-emerged with Powers choking Khan with a rope.  Once things were back in the ring, Khan and Cook passed the dreaded international object back and forth to keep the ref from seeing it...that allowed Khan to gain a sustained advantage by using the weapon.  Travis got in at least one cheapshot with his cane, of course.  This all led to Powers getting a hold of Khan's weapon and blatantly attacking Khan with it, drawing a DQ in 8:26.  KHAAAAAN~!

Anywho, the top two matches for the next show have already been announced.  Red River Jack will face Attila Khan(hmm...) and Flanagan will defend the Classic Title against Gary Jackson in Gary's "last shot at the title".  Flanagan and Jackson traded wins late last year so this SHOULD settle the score...we shall see.

Nothing local in the next two weekends...Metro Pro Wrestling has a show on Saturday 1/31 in Kansas City.

-Matchmaker Nigel McGuinness came out to address the issue of last week's no-contest in the top-contender match involving "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin, "The Sicilian Psychopath" Tommaso Ciampa, and Todd Hanson...Heavyweight Champion Jay Briscoe said he would face all three of them in a four-corner match.
-Jay Briscoe d. Matt Taven(w/ Michael Bennett & Maria Kanellis-Bennett) with the Jay-Driller(double-underhook piledriver) to retain the Heavyweight Title (8:14 aired).  Bennett blindsided Jay with his "Title Of Love"(formerly Jay's customized title belt) and Maria bad-mouthed him until Mark Briscoe ran them off.  Mark challenged Bennett & Taven to a tag match on behalf of himself and his brother...

SICW Wrestling Explosion

-Commentators:  Herb Simmons & Drew Abbenhaus.
-Sean Vincent & Bobby D d. Brandon Espinosa & Curtis Wylde(w/ Wyldefyre); Wyldefyre tripped up Vincent at one point, but a miscommunication caused Wylde to accidentally knock Espinosa off the ring apron. Vincent capitalized by rolling up Wylde for the pin; he offered a handshake to Espy after the match, but Espy kicked him below the belt before walking away.
-Promoter Herb Simmons interviewed Travis Cook about the Ron Powers/Red River Jack situation.
-Flashback to August 1984:  Bruiser Brody & Stan Hansen d. Terry Funk & Dory Funk Jr. by countout when Terry(legal) brawled with Hansen(not legal) outside the ring as Dory battled Brody in the ring.

Saturday SICW Results From East Carondelet, IL

-Promoter Herb Simmons started the show by updating the fans on Larry Matysik's medical condition, inviting the fans to sign the giant get-well card for him.
-"Wildchild" Curtis Wylde(w/ Wyldefyre) d. "The Don Mega" Shorty Biggs; Wyldefyre tripped Shorty behind the referee's back, leading to Wylde capitalizing with a small package pin (8:17).
-"Dead Sexy" Daniel Gunner d. Keith Smith Jr. with a rollup and feet on the ropes for illegal leverage (6:40).
-Herb Simmons interviewed Big Daddy, who was accompanied by Red River Jack, Gary Jackson, and Daniel Eads.  Big Daddy talked about expanding his stable, but was interrupted by Travis Cook and his crew(Ken Kasa, Attila Khan, & Bubba Troll).  The referees had to keep everyone separated to prevent a fight from breaking out.
-"The Man Of Tomorrow" Daniel Eads(w/ Big Daddy) d. Bubba Troll via jackknife cradle after Troll missed a splash off the second rope (4:34).
-"The Old School Warrior" Chaz Wesson d. Ax Allwardt.  Ax initially won with a double-leg pin and feet on the ropes, but the referee(same one as in the Gunner-Smith match) caught the underhanded tactic this time and allowed the match to continue.  Wesson went on to win with a powerslam (8:08).
-"Your Canadian Hero" Sean Vincent fought Brandon Espinosa to a time-limit draw (15:00).
-"Night Train/Gorgeous/Great One" Gary Jackson & Big Jim Hoffarth(w/ Big Daddy) d. "The King Of Chaos" Ricky Cruz & "Ironman" Ken Kasa(w/ Travis Cook).  There was tension on the rulebreakers' side from the get-go as Cruz took exception to Cook proclaiming Kasa to be the former and future Classic Champion.  During the bout, Travis tried to throw powder in Jackson's eyes but accidentally blinded Cruz with it when Gary moved out of the way.  That led to a huge argument between old rivals Cruz and Kasa, followed by Ricky walking out on his team.  Kasa tried to keep Jackson from tagging out, but Hoffarth finally got the tag and overpowered Kasa.  Gary tagged back into the match to get the tapout win via Texas Cloverleaf (8:42).
-Flash Flanagan d. "Dirdey" Jake Dirden to retain the Classic Title; Dirden missed a diving headbutt off the second rope and Flanagan got the pin after a DDT (10:06).
-Attila Khan(w/ Travis Cook) d. Ron Powers by DQ.  It didn't take long for the match to get out of hand as the fight spilled out of the ring and Powers bashed Khan with a chair.  They brawled to the backstage area and Powers choked Khan with a rope before the referee finally restored some level of order.  Khan repeatedly used a foreign object to attack Powers, passing it back and forth to Travis Cook to keep the referee from finding it.  However, Powers finally got a hold of the weapon and blatantly attacked Khan with it, leading to the referee calling for the disqualification (8:26).

TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Josh Mathews & Taz.
-The show started with the newly-named Beat Down Crew(Montel Vontavious Porter, Kenny King, Samoa Joe, & Low-Ki) speaking their minds.  "Showtime" Eric Young made an appearance...he's not a part of the Clan, but he was upset about Bobby Roode not giving him a Heavyweight Title shot when EY gave HIM a shot as champion.  Also, Roode never called or visited him in the hospital when he was injured in the act of defending his friend...but it was M.V.P. who contacted him and he saw the light.  M.V.P. introduced new Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley...but he didn't show up and he got Kurt Angle instead.  Joe confronted him, leading to a match...
-Samoa Joe d. Kurt Angle; a ref bump and punt to the groin gave him the opening to hook the Kokita Clutch for the tapout (joined in progress; 6:13 aired).  The rest of the B.D.C. and Eric Young re-entered the ring for the post-match beatdown but Bobby Roode ran them off with a chair.
-Roode addressed the events of last week, vowing to make Eric Young pay for his betrayal.
-In a clip from Impact Unlocked, Mike Tenay interviewed Brutus Magnus...now that he's a family man, he's found a new purpose in his career.
-The Hardy Boys(Jeff & Matt) d. The American Wolves(Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) when Matt pinned Edwards after a Big Ending(Matt)/Twist Of Fate(Jeff) combo (10:09).  Tag Team Champions "Cowboy" James Storm & Abyss watched the match from the balcony along with The Great Senada, Manik, and new recruit Koya(aka Mahabali Shera).
-Next week:  The Feast-Or-Fired Match.
-Ethan Carter III got into the control room to bug ring announcer Jeremy Borash over the headsets.  Since Borash was telling Rockstar Spud that EC3 would get what was coming to him, EC3 challenged Borash to a match.
-"Showtime" Eric Young d. Bobby Roode in a no-DQ match; Young raked the eyes to escape the Death Valley Driver and threw Roode head-first into a chair in the corner, then got the win after a piledriver on another chair (5:35 aired).  M.V.P. and King came out to add insult to injury...
-The Beautiful People(Angelina Love & Velvet Sky)(w/ Robbie Eckos, Jessie Godderz, & D.J. Shiima Xion) d. Women's Champion Taryn Terrell & Brooke Tessmacher; Brooke was distrated by Robbie E and Velvet rolled her up with a handful of tights (2:27).  LIGHTS OFF LIGHTS ON and Amazing Kong appeared in the ring to beat up the Beautiful People...Kong dropped Angelina with the Implant Buster and then chokeslammed Xion.  Enter Jessicka Havok...El Big Staredown with Kong ensued and referees and security had to keep them separated.
-Backstage:  EC3 cornered Borash and goaded him into accepting his challenge.
-Elsewhere backstage:  Manik and James Storm introduced us to the newly-renamed Koya.  He debuts next week.
-Low-Ki(w/ M.V.P., King, & Joe) d. Austin Aries to win the X-Division Title; the B.D.C. distracted the ref as Aries had Low-Ki in the Last Chancery, leading to Aries taking them out with a low-flying suicide dive.  However, King tripped Aries on the top rope and Low-Ki hit the Ki-Krusher to win (6:50).
-Afterwards, the B.D.C. and Eric Young called Lashley out to the ring...M.V.P. said the Heavyweight Title belonged to all of them, but Lashley disagreed with that point of view.  M.V.P. acted like they would part ways on good terms...but then the heels gang-attacked Lashley.  Ladies and gentlemen, we have a face turn.  The B.D.C. left a bloody Lashley in the ring and M.V.P. walked out with the title belt.

Lucha Underground Episode 10

-Commentators:  Matt Striker & Vampiro.
-Recappage:  Chavo Guerrero Jr. turned on Blue Demon Jr., Prince Puma was pinned by Fenix in a ten-way match, and Puma rebounded from that loss to become the first Lucha Underground Champion.
-Promoter Dario Cueto met with Fenix in his office, awarding him the first shot at Puma's title by virtue of that recent pinfall.  Fenix made it clear that he fought for himself, not Cueto.  Angela Fong was seen in the office window, apparently eavesdropping on the conversation...
-Brian Cage won a four-way dance with Angèlico(from South Africa), Aero Star, and Argenis(brother of Mistico/Sin Cara The First).  Cage pinned Argenis after a pumphandle faceplant (5:09), Cage pinned Aero Star after a discus lariat (5:35), and Cage pinned Angèlico after the discus lariat (6:01).
-Chavo Guerrero Jr. entered the ring and sat down to enlighten the people...he wanted to apologize to Blue Demon Jr., but did it in the most backhanded way possible.  Demon rightfully didn't trust Chavo...when Chavo tried for a cheapshot with brass knuckles, Demon saw it coming and beat him down.  Demon went for a chair to avenge Chavo's initial attack...Chavo begged off but Demon was having none of it, hitting Chavo in the head and then across the back.
-Drago fought King Cuerno to a double countout.  The fight got out of hand quickly and Cuerno brought out a table, but Drago avoided a chairshot and superkicked Cuerno.  With Cuerno laid out on the table, Drago made a huge leap from the roof of Cueto's ringside office to splash his rival through the table!  The referee's count reached ten shortly after that (3:21).
-Prince Puma d. Fenix after the 630 Splash to retain the Lucha Underground Title (12:11).  Brian Cage attacked the worn-out champion after the match, laying him out with a discus lariat and spinebuster before deadlifting him into a double powerbomb.

WWE Smackdown
