WWE NXT

Commentators:  Tom Phillips, S. William Regal, & Renee Young.  Ring announcer:  Byron Saxton.

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Antonio Cesaro:  Cesaro gets in Saxton's face for some reason and Regal leaves the broadcast booth to pull Byron to safety...hmm.  (We're told that Byron accidentally stepped on the "Don't Tread On Me" flag and Cesaro took offense.)  Yoshi tries to take advantage with a rollup but only gets two...then Cesaro catches a spinning heel kick and slams him to the mat.  Antonio hits a spinebuster and then does the GIANT SWING~! with the fans counting along.  Cesaro glares at Regal before hitting a European uppercut, then wears Yoshi down with the Swiss Sleeper before finishing with the Neutralizer.  Well, that was decisive.

Backstage:  Devin Taylor interviews NXT Champion Bo Dallas.  We're all winners with our main event tonight...well, except for whoever faces him next week because that guy's losing.  C.J. Parker promo-bombs him to set up a match tonight...okay then.

NXT Champion Bo Dallas vs. C.J. Parker, non-title:  Parker gets an early O'Connor roll for two, but Bo kicks out the knee to slow him down.  We're told that C.J. felt like he was left out of the Beat The Clock Challenge...see, he beat Tyler Breeze a few weeks ago, but Breeze was in the challenge and he wasn't.  Parker fights out of a CRAVATE~! and hits the double-knees in the corner, followed by a Harlem Side Kick and forward-falling DDT...for two.  Parker goes to the top rope but Bo hits the ropes to trip him up, then hits the turnbuckle-walk bulldog(BO-dog?) for the win.

Backstage:  Devin interviews Emma Tayla.  She's been out of action with a head injury but she'll be back soon.  NXT Women's Champion Paige Knight interrupts to bring up the previous argument about their miscommunications...

Backstage again:  Natalya Neidhart confronts Paige about off-camera rudeness...according to Paige, Natalya thinks she's a big TV star now(watch Total Divas~!) and thinks she's too good for the puny women's division.  Sounds like a title match for next week.

Kassius Ohno vs. Tyler Breeze:  This is a rematch from Beat The Clock when Ohno defeated Breeze...but Alexander Rusev(whose time was beaten by Ohno last week) nails Ohno from behind!  Breeze just keeps taking selfies as referees and security guards check on Kassius...but Ohno enters the ring and wants to go through with the match.  Okay then...the opening bell rings, Breeze ducks away from the opening lockup attempt, Beauty Shot(spinning heel kick) and that's it.

Backstage:  The BFFs(Summer Rae, Sasha Banks, & Charlotte Flair) hang out but Bayley wants to talk to Charlotte...Charlotte walks away and Bayley challenges them to a tag match.  The BFFs wonder if Bayley has any friends left...we'll see.

Backstage:  Devin interviews Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville about tonight's main event.  Previous NXT Champions made it to WrestleMania and that's what their goal is.  Some tension arises as Zayn says he held the title in his hands, leading to Neville wondering if he's saying he wants it more because of that.

Tag Team Champions The Ascension(Konnor O'Brian & Rick Viktor) vs. Hunico & Donny Camacho, non-title:  Hunico & Camacho do well in the early going against Viktor...at least until Viktor stops Hunico with an STO and tags in Konnor.  The Ascension members drop Hunico with a double hiptoss into a powerbomb, then Konnor sends Camacho and himself to the floor with a Cactus Clothesline.  Viktor only gets a two-count on Hunico on the delayed pin attempt, then Hunico tilt-a-whirls into a small package out of the blue for the flash pin on Viktor!  The belts weren't on the line but we definitely have new contenders...

Sami Zayn vs. Adrian Neville:  These two tied for the best time in Beat The Clock so now they fight for the title shot at Bo Dallas next week.  We're told that Regal has been "called to the back" regarding the Cesaro situation, so Bo joins us for guest commentary.  YAY WRESTLING~!  Phillips says these two have wrestled all over the world, dating back to their first match in England in 2006.  Bo says Zayn has a bright future but isn't championship-caliber YET...heh.  FLIPPIES~! ensue with Adrian getting the advantage...the fans seem to be slightly in favor of Zayn(OLE~!) and Sami gets the edge on the next exchange.  Neville snaps off a rana and Zayn rolls out, but Zayn re-enters with an elbow and Adrian rolls to the floor himself.  Sami nails the no-hands somersault plancha!

A chop exchange ends in Zayn's favor and he nails a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker...for two.  Corner boot...misses and Sami tumbles out to the floor.  Adrian kicks Zayn away and then hits a top-rope Asai moonsault to the floor!  Back in, Neville nails the springboard dropkick...for two.  Enzuigiri hits, but Zayn blocks a handspring elbow to hit the Blue Thunder Bomb...for two!  Zayn catches him off the ropes in a Michinoku Driver...for two.  Zayn goes for the corner boot but Neville gets his own foot up...Adrian tries another handspring move and ends up on Zayn's shoulders...then spins into a snap rana...for 2 1/2!  Adrian goes to the ropes, roundhouse-kicks Zayn down...but Zayn cuts him off on the turnbuckles.  Superplex is blocked and Adrian headbutts Sami to the mat...Red Arrow(corkscrew shooting star press) HITS and Neville gets the hard-fought win!

Post-match tension ensues between the two, but the fans want them to hug it out...Adrian offers the hand and Zayn passes on the gesture in favor of the hug.  All righty then.

Next week:  Bo Dallas vs. Adrian Neville for the NXT Title plus Paige Knight vs. Natalya Neidhart for the NXT Women's Title.

Dynamo Special Comment

Last-minute addition to the wrestling show lineup...and on a Tuesday evening, no less. That being said, the show drew a pretty good number of people to the intimate venue. I've done comedy shows at Off Broadway so I'm familiar with the place. From talking to a few people, we agreed that it would be a good place for television tapings if Dynamo decided to go that route. If they run there again(preferably on the weekend), I'm sure they'll get an even better turnout.

With the Glen Carbon Sports Academy busy for soccer season, Dynamo is branching out to other venues...their first show of 2014 will be at the Stratford Inn in Fenton on Saturday, January 4th. They ran there several years ago when they were still under the NWA Central States banner.

Of course, wrestling shows on that side of the river fall under the jurisdiction of the benevolent(?) Missouri State Athletic Commission...so that resulted in a slightly altered(and compressed) talent roster. Your ring announcers were Ben Simon and Chris Roedel...even the ring announcers must be licensed in Missouri, for the record.

Mark Bland started the show by updating us on the title situation: Jake Dirden won the belt from Dan Walsh in Pittsfield under controversial circumstances and tonight is the rematch. That brought out Walsh and Dirden for some verbal sparring. Oddly the face/heel roles were reversed in Pittsfield as Dirden was the crowd favorite...Walsh initially won after hitting Dirden with the belt but the match was restarted, leading to Dirden's championship victory.

Geek Singh was a heel on this night...because no one likes tech support guys, AMIRIGHT? He tried to use his computer keyboard as a weapon but the referee stopped him, leading to Webb getting the win.

A lot of the triple threat was Parnell vs. Gallagher as Dark Shadows hid outside the ring...hey, live the gimmick. Hadn't seen Parnell go to the top rope too often but he pulled off a nice 450 Splash. It has been noted that the "Gentleman" gimmick seems better suited for a heel character; he seemed to be gimmickless for this one. I believe Gallagher called his finisher the "Champagne Supernova"...okay then.

This was the first Dynamo appearance for Espinosa in a long time and, I think, the first ever for Ace Hawkins. They've fought approximately five hundred times and also been tag partners, so it's safe to say they know each other pretty well. CHEAT TO WIN~!

Travis Cook was upset about his guys not being on the show. Hey, get the paperwork done next time. :)

It seemed like Magnuson was going to be the face against heel Kevin X, but the roles reversed over the course of the match as the fans were more familiar with Kevin. Solid bout.

The main event was really good...both survived each other's big moves(Dirden's chokeslam, Walsh's Paydirt TWICE) thanks to some delayed pin attempts. Dirden finally caught him in the Asiatic Spike...three arm drops later, Dirden had cleanly retained the title. Bland wasn't happy about handing the belt back to the champion but there was no controversy this time around.

The year wraps up in December with St. Louis Anarchy on Friday the 6th, MMWA at South Broadway on Saturday the 7th, and SICW on the 14th...as previously noted, Dynamo has the first show of the year on Saturday 1/4.

-Alabama Attitude(Mike Posey & Corey Hollis) d. Stryknyn & Joey Rhymer.  Stryknyn's scheduled tag partner Azrael was injured and the match started as a handicap bout, but Rhymer ran out to Stryknyn's corner after a few minutes.  Miss Rachel came out to distract the referee as Stryknyn speared Hollis, leading to B.J. Hancock attacking Rhymer at ringside and Anthony Henry running in to spear Stryknyn.  That led to Henry putting Hollis on top of Stryknyn and the referee returned to the ring to count the pin.  The heels dishes out a post-match beatdown until Slim J ran them off with a barbed-wire bat(!).  Stryknyn said he would team with Rhymer against Henry and Hancock at Fright Night...that'll work.
-Shaun Tempers & Se7en(w/ Jeff G. Bailey) d. The Washington Bullets(Jon & Trey Williams) to retain the Tag Team Titles; Tempers hit Jon with the Rude Awakening and got the pin as Se7en chokeslammed Trey.  After last week's double DQ between Jeremy Vain & Brodie Ray Chase and the Urban Assault Squad(Shadow Jackson & Nemesis), Bill Behrens set up a Texas Tornado triple threat match for the titles at Fright Night.
-Geter d. Steven Walters with the big splash to retain the Heavyweight Title.  Promoter Franklin Dove said that the Fright Night cage match with Mikael Judas would have a special guest referee:  Iceberg!

Comedy Parts 505-6: Jilly's Plus

Location:  Jilly's
Emcee:  Bobby Jaycox
Lineup:  Me, Stryker Spurlock, Jon Venegoni, Scott James

Location:  Elmo's
Emcee:  Micaela Mohr
After:  Nathan Orton
Before:  Joshua Slobe

The second part of the night was a game-day decision...the discussion essentially went like this:  Stryker:  "Want to go to Elmo's?"  Me:  "Sure, why not?"  I did a longer set at Jilly's(around ten minutes) and tried not to repeat any material at Elmo's...easier said than done.  Jilly's had a really good crowd and it was a lot of fun.  Elmo's didn't have too many non-comics on this particular night, but we still had fun with it.  Sounds like there won't be any Jilly's shows for the next little while...was a fun room for shows and hope to be back there again soon!

Comedy Part 504: Jilly's Eve

Location:  Fitz's
Emcee:  Jon Venegoni
After:  Justin Luke
Before:  Amy Milton

It was a pretty good crowd tonight and I felt like I did well with most of my new material.  Some of the jokes need more added to them, but it was good to get the ideas out there.  Would like to get out to shows more often, but gas is still pricey and the personal budget has to take precedence sometimes...that's my own fault for bad spending habits and hopefully I'll be back in safer financial ground soon.  I'm performing at Jilly's tonight at 8 along with Bobby Jaycox, Jon Venegoni, Scott James, and Stryker Spurlock...hope to see you there!

Impact + Superstars

TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay & Taz.
-Heavyweight Title Tournament:  Brutus Magnus d. Samoa Joe in a falls-count-anywhere match.  Joe charged at Magnus, but Magnus moved and Joe ran head-first into a chair wedged in the ropes.  Magnus got the pin on the arena floor after that.
-Abyss vs. Joseph Park didn't happen as Abyss didn't show up.  Bad Influence(Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian) insulted Park repeatedly until he left the ring.
-Women's Champion Gail Kim(w/ Lei'D Tapa) d. Candice LeRae(non-title) after the Eat-The-Feet.
-Heavyweight Title Tournament:  Bobby Roode d. James Storm in a Florida Death Match.  Roode dominated after hitting Storm in the head with a beer bottle but Storm refused to stay down.  Phil Gunner threw in the towel when Roode teased a Death Valley Driver onto a barbed-wire board.
-Ethan Carter III d. Shark Boy with the One-Percenter(headlock driver).
-Ken Anderson d. Bully Ray(w/ Brooke Tessmacher) in a no-DQ match to disband the Aces & Eights; Anderson would have been forced to leave TNA if he lost.  Mike Knux interfered but took a piledriver on the floor.  Brooke tried to throw in the hammer, but Anderson got it and nailed Bully before finishing with the Mic Check.

-Johnny Fandango(w/ Summer Rae) d. Tyson Kidd with the guillotine legdrop.
-Los Matadores(Fernando & Diego)(w/ El Torito) d. Hunico & Donny Camacho when Fernando pinned Camacho after the double torture-rack drop.

-Brutus Magnus d. Tag Team Champion Robbie Eckos with the Kingsland Cloverleaf.

WWE NXT

(My downloaded version of the show clipped out a good bit of the opening segment, some backstage stuff, and the entire Hunico/Camacho match...had to dig up the the missing parts.)

Commentators:  Byron Saxton, S. William Regal, & Alex Riley.  Ring announcer:  Alexa Bliss.

NXT Champion Bo Dallas(w/ party hat) is here to celebrate his successful foreign tour.  He's been updating his newsletter on his travels...everyone loves him!  He's got a slide show of highlights...the fans say NO~! and Bo says "Okay, great!"  The slide show is wonderfully cheesy with Photoshops galore.  He fought Justin Gabriel...good kid, he beat him.  He hugged an ill fan and the doctors say that fan's health improved by 50%!  There's a shot of him with Bigfoot...that wasn't supposed to be in there.  They offered him baked goods in other countries...and he's got cookies for everyone!

Oh yeah, here's General Manager John Bradshaw Layfield to welcome him home.  Someone else is back and isn't quite as happy to see Bo:  Sami Zayn!  Bo asks if Sami's there for a cookie...not likely.  JBL deems this interruption to be a lack of respect and the reason he was suspended for a month.  Zayn wants another chance to take the title off that "delusional cheeseball"...heh.  JBL threatens another suspension...but he'll do What's Best For Business(tm) and reinstate Zayn.  Dallas isn't bothered by this...he already beat Zayn, after all, and he just seems like a sore loser.  Sami says he has no problem working his way back up the ladder...and JBL says we'll have a Beat The Clock Challenge tonight to determine Bo's next challenger.  That'll work...cue "cheeseball" chant.

Colin Cassady vs. Alexander Rusev(w/ Lana Perry), Beat The Clock Challenge:  We're told that Enzo Amore is out with an injury...aww.  This is portrayed as an uphill battle for Big Cass even though he's got a height advantage.  Rusev goes for a lot of pin attempts which makes sense in this format...but a diving headbutt off the second rope hits nothing but mat.  Cue the Cassady rally...a high knee gets two.  Elbowdrop gets two.  Stinger Splash hits nothing but turnbuckles, so Rusev sends him to the opposite corner, rams him in the midsection, and locks on the Accolade(camel clutch)...Big Cass somehow manages to reach the ropes but he's been worn down.  Rusev dishes out more abuse until he can hook the Accolade again...and the second time's the charm as Rusev gets the tapout win in 5:33.

Backstage, Devin Taylor(who?) interviews Adrian Neville.  He settled things with Corey Graves last week and now he's got an opportunity in the Beat The Clock Challenge.

Backstage again, Devin interviews Bayley Rose.  She's upset about Charlotte Flair turning on her...they were like Spongebob and Patrick!  She met her dad, taught her how to pogostick, and even did the Robot...but they're no longer friends and Bayley says she'll let her fists do the talking when they meet again.

Kassius Ohno vs. Tyler Breeze, Beat The Clock Challenge:  Thanks to the magic of prerecording, it looks like we'll see Ohno on this program for a little while longer.  Ohno has no time for selfies and Breeze gets upset when his pre-match preening is interrupted.  Regal notes that once the initial time is set, every wrestler's eye is on the clock in the other bouts.  Riley wonders why Byron keeps going to Regal for the analysis...Regal notes that his thirty years and international experience would probably trump "200 matches and carrying The Miz's bags".  HA!

Ohno gets a small package out of nowhere for two, rollup for two, and backslide for two...but Breeze stuns him with an enzuigiri that sends him for the floor.  The commentators argue over whether Breeze should try to get him in the ring for the pin or take the countout win...Tyler does get him back in the ring and only gets a two-count.  The timer ticks down as the fan support is divided with dueling chants...Breeze keeps up the pressure but can't keep Ohno down.  Breeze lines up the Beauty Shot(spinning heel kick) but Ohno ducks it and covers...for two.  Sunset flip-style cradle...for two.  Death Blow(Rude Awakening into roaring elbow) misses and Breeze gets an O'Connor Roll for two...Ohno rolls through for two.  We're down to a minute left...Ohno tries a double-leg pin, Breeze rolls through, Ohno rolls through THAT into a sunset flip for the flash pin at 4:48!

Hunico & Donny Camacho vs. John J. Hornigan & Chris Rothwell:  It looks like the lowrider bike was wished well in its future endeavors.  Don't blink...Camacho picks up Rothwell(I think), tags Hunico, then completes the Samoan Drop.  Add a swanton bomb by Hunico and we're done...that was fast.  Devin Taylor interviews them at ringside...they're gunning for The Ascension at the Tag Team Titles.

Backstage, Dan Devone(who?) interviews Ohno about his win...but Lana interrupts to complain about her man Rusev being out of the running.  Ohno tells "Natasha" to inform "Boris" that he's no joke.

Adrian Neville vs. Aiden English, Beat The Clock Challenge:  Neville is considered a favorite based on his speed, but English tries to keep him grounded despite the FLIPPIES~!  English gets frustrated and that costs him as Adrian hits a back suplex out of nowhere.  Educated feet are unleashed but English rolls away after being slammed near the corner.  English gets him with a swinging neckbreaker...for two.  English sets him up on the top rope which seems like a bad idea...sure enough, Neville fights him off and nails the Red Arrow(corkscrew shooting star press) for the win with three seconds to spare(4:45)!

Tag Team Champions The Ascension(Konnor O'Brian & Rick Viktor) accept Hunico & Camacho's challenge...

Sami Zayn vs. Leo Kruger, Beat The Clock Challenge:  I like how this BTC doesn't have obvious winners and losers...normally it's a foregone conclusion and just a matter of how long it'll take for the win to happen.  Bo joins us to watch the match from the entrance stage...that won't be distracting AT ALL.  Leo goes on the attack but Zayn hits a cross-body for two.  He gets a backslide for two, rollup for two...and Kruger nails him in the throat to slow him down.  Leo grounds him and keeps going for pins but only gets two-counts.  Sami goes topside out of nowhere for a Steamboat Press...only getting two.  Leo stuns him with a European uppercut to regain control...more pin attempts result in more two-counts.  Regal notes that repeated pin covers force the opponent to expend energy to kick out.  Zayn rallies on offense and a high-altitude dropkick gets two.  Corner boot misses and Kruger rolls him up for two.  Sami flips out of a back suplex but runs into a spinebuster...for two.  Leo sets up the SLICE~! lariat(wasting a lot of time, as Regal notes) and nails it...for two.  He keeps going for the pin but Zayn crucifixes him on the mat for the three-count...at 4:45?  Uh-oh...here's JBL to make the decision:  It was a tie, so next week it'll be Zayn vs. Neville.  The winner of that match will challenge Bo Dallas for the NXT Title on the following week's show...hey, sounds fair to me.

-Alberto Del Rio d. Santino Marella with the cross-armbreaker takedown.
-Johnny Fandango(w/ Summer Rae) d. Kofi Kingston; the match spilled out of the ring and Kofi threw Fandango into Miz at one point.  Miz tried to get involved and the distraction led to Fandango rolling up Kofi with a handful of tights for the cheap win.

SICW Special Comment

It was another packed house in East Carondelet for SICW's monthly offering. Didn't make it last month but it looks like they had a full venue for Hacksaw Jim Duggan's appearance. Promoter Herb Simmons was even joking that they'll need a bigger building at the rate they're going. :)

Jake Parnell worked as a face at last month's show(where he faced Alexandre Rudolph) and he was a face again for his match with Waco. Given the outcome of the main event, will Waco maintain his character?

The tag match was scheduled to have Flash Flanagan teaming with Bull Bronson, but Ax Allwardt teamed with Bronson and Flanagan wrestled Brandon Gallagher in a separate match. I had a feeling they would move toward a Ricky Cruz-Bronson feud and we're already getting a no-DQ match in December. Bronson had set up to Vaderbomb Eads after the match but Cruz hit him in the back with a chair...only for Bull to shrug it off and confront him. Eep.

Still seems odd to see Gallagher as a face. Good bout with Flanagan and it had a finish one would normally expect out of someone like Low-Ki(Tree Of Woe double-stomp).

Bobby D vs. Joker was a decent little brawl.

Is Flash Flanagan's SICW time just about up? Well, he was technically "fired"...but I imagine Ron Powers will give him an official sendoff at the next show.

Kasa escaped with the title by the skin of his teeth...this is the second time Powers has had him beaten before someone interfered for the disqualification. However, it looks like Jake Dirden may be riding his recent momentum to a future championship opportunity...we shall see. Kasa doesn't have an opponent scheduled for December yet...just saying.

If Gary Jackson had lost to The Big Texan, it would have put a serious crimp in his challenge to Mepisto at the December MMWA show...heh. Neither outcome(Gary retiring or Texan unmasking) seemed likely at the time...and wrestling retirements are a running gag in their lack of permanence.

Notably, Texan had been getting increasingly positive reactions in East Carondelet despite his heel status...to the point where the crowd was almost 50/50 for this particular bout. It seemed like Waco's backfired interference, Texan's voluntary unmasking, and the handshake with his long-time rival solidified him as a face for good.

Dynamo is running a show at Off Broadway next Tuesday...it sounds like soccer season has the Glen Carbon Sports Academy booked solid for the next little while. From what I understand, they're also planning to run at the Stratford Inn in Fenton soon.

After the Dynamo show, December has St. Louis Anarchy's Yuletide Terror in December...and the monthly offerings from MMWA and SICW will most likely wrap up the year.

As always: #yaywrestling

WWE Raw

-Commentators:  Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, & John Bradshaw Layfield.
-WWE Champion Randy Orton d. Brad Maddox in a non-title no-DQ match; the referee stopped the bout as Orton repeatedly pummeled Maddox with a microphone.
-Big E Langston d. Curtis Axel with the Big Ending to win the Intercontinental Title.
-The Big Show d. Ryback; Ryback actually hit the Shellshock but only got 2 1/2.  He tried for the Jackhammer but Show powered out of it and PUNCHed him for the win.  Orton tried a run-in only to get speared right away.
-The Real Americans(Antonio Cesaro & Jack Swagger)(w/ Zeb Colter) d. Mike Mizanin & Kofi Kingston; Kofi made a blind tag late in the match and Miz responded by dropping off the apron when Kofi went to tag out.  That left Kofi to tap out to Swagger's Patriot Lock.
-Women's Champion A.J. Lee(w/ Tamina Snuka) d. Vickie Guerrero(non-title) with the Black Widow.
-Dolph Ziggler d. Damien Sandow in a "Broadway Brawl" after trapping him in a drum and hitting him with a guitar.
-"R-Truth" Ron Killings & Xavier Woods d. Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal(w/ Heath Slater); Woods pinned Drew after the Lost In The Woods(Eat-The-Feet).
-Daniel Bryan, C.M. Punk, Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Goldust, & Jimmy & Jey Uso d. The Shield(U.S. Champion Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, & Seth Rollins) & The Wyatt Family(Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, & Erick Rowan) when Punk pinned Ambrose after the Go 2 Sleep.  The Real American ran in to join the post-match heel attack, but Rey Misterio Jr. made a surprise return to help the good guys clear the ring.

Comedy Part 503: Late Nick's

Location:  Nick's Pub

With the Jilly's show on Friday, I wanted to get back into practice...I have a few days off work this week so I decided to stop by Nick's Pub for their weekly open-mic on Sunday night.  I was mostly trying out new jokes...some did better than others, needless to say.  Planning on getting to Fitz's on Thursday and maybe one or two other shows this week...depends on how I can fit it into my alleged sleep schedule.

Champion Matt Taven, & Tag Team Champions reDRagon(Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish)(w/ Truth Martini, Scarlett Bordeaux, & Kasey Ray) in an elimination tag match.  Eliminations:  Cole pinned Alexander after superkicking him out of a springboard move.  Cole eliminated Coleman when he blind-tagged into the match as Taven was hitting the Climax(headlock driver), then pinned him with the Florida Key(straitjacket German suplex).

Elgin(fighting on his own after Lethal fell off the top rope with Kasey Ray and went through a table) pinned O'Reilly after a short-arm clothesline.  Lethal got back into the match but fell prey to a cheapshot superkick and brainbuster onto the knee before being pinned by Cole.  Elgin fought back and made Taven tap out to the Crippler Crossface, then eliminated Fish with the spiral bomb.  After a lot of near-falls, Elgin finally pinned Cole with a sitout superbomb.

After the match, Jay Briscoe entered the ring with a black bag and hit both Elgin and Cole with it...then opened it to reveal his own customized title belt, claiming to be the "real World Champion".

Anarchy Wrestling TV #407

-Commentators:  Bret Wolverton & Jonathon Feldner.
-Anthony Henry & B.J. Hancock(w/ Miss Rachel) d. Kameron Kade & Jeremy Foster; Henry locked Kade in the Texas Cloverleaf and B.J. hit a kneedrop off the top rope before getting the pin.
-T.V. Champion Bobby Moore challenged Wildside to put his mask on the line against his title at Fright Night.  Moore blindsided Wildside as he was leaving the ring and pulled off the mask...but Wildside had another mask under the first one.
-Dango Wynn won a triple threat match with The Vandal and Jean-Pierre Royere.  Jean-Pierre tried to steal the pin after Vandal hit the Zigzag on Wynn, but Wynn reversed him into a crucifix pin.
-Wolverton interviewed Joey Rhymer in his first appearance since being injured by B.J. Hancock a few months ago...he challenged B.J. to a match at Fright Night.  Miss Rachel came out to answer on B.J.'s behalf and repeatedly insulted him before finally slapping him.  Rhymer went after her and she quickly backed off...
-Jeremy Vain & Brodie Ray Chase vs. The Urban Assault Squad(Shadow Jackson & Nemesis) ended in a double DQ as all four men brawled in and around the ring.
-Next week:  Geter vs. Steven Walters for the Heavyweight Title, plus Shaun Tempers & Se7en vs. The Washington Bullets for the Tag Team Titles.

Saturday SICW Results From East Carondelet, IL

-Promoter Herb Simmons announced that Bushwhacker Luke Williams would be appearing at SICW's January show.
-Waco d. Jake Parnell after an atomic facebuster.
-Chaz Wesson d. Max Archer with a sunset flip.
-Ricky Cruz & Daniel Eads d. Bull Bronson & Ax Allwardt; Cruz superkicked Ax and Eads hit a flying Superman Punch off the second rope for the win.  Bronson beat down Eads after the match, leading to a confrontation with Cruz...Ricky challenged Bull to a no-DQ match at the December show.
-Flash Flanagan d. Brandon Gallagher.  Flash got the win after he hung Gallagher upside-down in the corner, then hit him with a double-stomp from the top rope.  Flanagan was extremely vocal about Ron Powers getting the title shot later in the night after he had defeated Powers two months ago.
-Bobby D fought Joker to a double countout as the two brawled outside the ring.
-Ron Powers d. Classic Champion Ken Kasa(w/ Travis Cook) by DQ; Powers had Kasa set up for the piledriver when Flash Flanagan ran into the ring and attacked Powers with his kendo stick, leaving him bloody.  An irate Herb Simmons proceeded to FIRE Flanagan on the spot, leading to Flash blowing his top and trashing Larry Matysik's metal walker!  Jake Dirden finally hit the ring to run off Flanagan, leading to a tense handshake between Powers and Dirden.  Powers asked Herb Simmons to book Flanagan for one more match in SICW:  Powers vs. Flanagan at the December show.
-Jake Dirden d. Dave Vaughn(w/ Travis Cook) via chokeslam in a hard-fought matchup.
-Gary Jackson d. The Big Texan in a career-vs.-mask match.  Waco came out to ringside during the bout and attempted to interfere after referee Jim Harris was knocked down.  However, his attempted loaded-mask headbutt from the top rope hit Texan by mistake as Gary moved out of the way.  Jackson threw Waco out of the ring and headbutted Texan to the mat, then dropped an elbow for the win as referee Harris recovered to make the three-count!  Gary had saved his career...and after much hesitation, Texan finally removed hjs mask and shook Gary's hand.

WWE NXT

Commentators:  Byron Saxton, S. William Regal, & Lord Tensai.  Ring announcer:  Kendall Skye.

Charlotte Flair & Bayley Rose vs. Summer Rae & Sasha Banks:  The BFFs have not been Being Stars(tm) lately as it relates to Bayley.  Sasha has glammed up her entrance attire with a jacket and shades.  Bayley offers hairbands to the opponents...they are not impressed.  Charlotte starts with some technical wrestling on Sasha, including a unique bridging hammerlock.  The fans want Bayley so she tags into the match...only to get caught in the wrong corner right away.  Good one, fans!

The match continues as Regal and Tensai alternate between light-hearted jabs at Byron and each other...heh.  Bayley hits a belly-to-belly suplex on Sasha out of nowhere and goes for the tag...only to get slapped by Charlotte!  Ladies and gentlemen, we have a heel turn...never trust a Flair!  Charlotte adds the exclamation point with the handspring Diamond Cutter...the heels don't know what's going on but Sasha takes what is offered and gets the pin.  Charlotte raises the hands of Summer and Sasha...looks like the BFFs have a new member.

Donny Camacho vs. Aiden English:  SPOTLIGHT PLEASE~!  Camacho overpowers English right away...English begs off but Camacho isn't buying it.  Camacho does a mocking bow followed by a back suplex and legdrop.  However, English escapes a Samoan Drop attempt and hits the Director's Cut(cobra clutch Side Effect) out of nowhere for the win.  The fans want an encore and get it...the fans throw roses into the ring and Regal is thoroughly impressed.  He "borrows" Tensai's handkerchief from his jacket pocket to wipe his eyes, then blows his nose noisily into it...bwahahaha.

Backstage:  Alexander Rusev and Lana Perry enlighten us in (presumably)Bulgarian.

Mason Ryan vs. Danny Burch:  I don't see this being competitive...Burch does manage to brawl his way into a brief advantage.  Ryan finally decides that playtime is over...Stungun, IT'S THE BIG FOOT, and cobra clutch slam end it.

Next week:  NXT Champion Bo Dallas returns~!

Adrian Neville vs. Corey Graves, best-of-three-falls match:  These guys were NXT Tag Champs not too long ago, but Graves turned on Neville after they lost their rematch to The Ascension.  Adrian starts fast with a dropkick, going for a lot of early pin attempts.  Graves slows him down with an elbow and tries to ground Neville...Adrian fires back with flying forearms, a leg lariat, and an Oklahoma roll for two.  FLIPPIES~! ensue and Adrian stuns Corey with a roundhouse kick from the apron, then nails the Red Arrow(corkscrew shooting star press) for the first fall just like that!  We get a helpful scoreboard for emphasis.

After a short rest period, Graves rolls out to regroup only to eat a baseball slide.  Adrian takes the fight to his opponent and the match breaks down into a slugfest on the floor...Adrian goes for his finisher again but this time Corey rolls out of the ring...then kicks out the knee when Neville goes after him.  Graves abuses the injured limb with gusto, including some ringpost abuse and a half-crab.  The commentators wonder if Adrian would be better off submitting to end the fall and get a break, but he fights his way back into the bout and gets a sunset flip...for two.  Neville kicks him away but Graves stops him with the leg dive, then hooks the Lucky 13(Fuller Leglock)...Adrian tries to tough it out but finally taps out.

The score is even, but now Neville's got a bad wheel and the rest period isn't much help.  Neville keeps fighting despite the injury, but one good kick to the leg stops him in his tracks.  Graves goes for the leg dive but is met with a dropkick to the head...and Adrian gets a two-count.  He goes to the third floor(literally pulling himself up the ropes), but the leg gives way and he falls badly on the turnbuckles.  Corey goes for the leg and hooks the Lucky 13 again...this time he HAS to escape and he somehow gets to the ropes.  Graves stays on the leg and goes for the hold one more time...and Adrian small-packages him for the flash pin and the win!

-Ken Anderson d. Mike Knux with the Mic Check.

-Heavyweight Title Tournament Submission Match:  Kurt Angle d. Austin Aries with the Crippler Crossface; Bobby Roode watched the match from the entranceway.

MMWA Special Comment

Good crowd at South Broadway...as one of my friends noted, the MMWA shows draw a very diverse group of people.

Per ring announcer Ben Simon, the match times(which I should note more often): 5:47, 2:42, 8:11, 3:58, 6:11, 8:10, 11:52, 9:57, 9:19.

Whitechapel earned points from me for "Tag me, Cujo!" The tag match only went about five minutes and I'm okay with that.

I don't know if the Tag Team Titles are still in play or if that was just a misdirection on Espinosa's part to tease a Mephisto win in the tournament. The mic work lasted longer than the actual match...yes, a lot of finishes on this night involved some sort of distraction or interference. There was one scary moment where A.J. backdropped Mephisto too close to the ropes and he practically landed on his head...eep.

Hadn't seen Steve Sharp in a long time...I read he was also at the Alton show on Friday. He worked a handful of GCW shows, usually doing stuff with his brother Kevin X. Think I also saw him in a dark match at a WWF Raw taping under the name Ali Stevens.

Jimmy D was still sporting the Red Sox jersey from the CSCW show...he was even announced as hailing from Boston. Well played.

Referees don't get enough notice in wrestling, especially on the independent scene. Jim Harris has been a mainstay official with both MMWA and SICW for as long as I can remember and next month's South Broadway event will be his final show...best of luck to him.

The Lumberjacks are also retiring next month...they held the MMWA Tag Team Titles many times and there's not much left for them to do with the belts seemingly out of play. Don't see them work many other places.

Odd bit of continuity as James and Osborne fought in the semfinals of LAST year's tournament, but this time the result was different. Was the post-match handshake a tease of a face turn for Osborne?

The wording of Gary's stipulation wasn't entirely clear as "if Gary loses" means something different than "if Gary doesn't win the title". He could have won by DQ or countout, but Mephisto made sure he officially lost to ensure the stipulation came into play. It might put a crimp in Jackson's challenge to Mephisto if he has to retire at the hands of The Big Texan next week...hmm.

Espy and Mephisto's plan backfired in a big way in the finals...they wanted to rig another DQ win for themselves, but senior official Jim Harris overruled it and said the match would continue. That left Mephisto ripe for the proverbial pickings...and Brian James won this year's King Of St. Louis Cable Tournament, earning a title shot of his choice. It'll probably go toward the Heavyweight Title, but they worded it so that it could be used for any championship at any time. I guess it's a Money-In-The-Bank sort of deal, but the title matches been set up in advance for the past two years.

The in-ring content was solid for the most part. On the bright side, the ropes stayed up and no one crashed and burned on a dive attempt.

Things are slowing down for the end of the year...SICW is next weekend but there's nothing for the two weekends after that. December only seems to have St. Louis Anarchy's Yuletide Terror as well as the monthly offerings from MMWA and SICW. CSCW's next show announcement was for January and I haven't heard anything from Dynamo about their next show.

Williams a job(cleaning his house, driving his car, working in his field) if he would lay down for him but Williams emphatically refused that "offer".
-King Of St. Louis Cable Tournament Quarterfinal:  Battle Royal Champion Mephisto d. T.V. Champion A.J. Williams(non-title); Jimmy D distracted Williams and the referee, allowing Mephisto to hit A.J. with brass knuckles and get the pin with feet on the ropes.

Battle Royal Champion Mephisto to win the tournament.  Espinosa blatantly hit Mephisto with his title belt at one point(in an attempt to get James disqualified), but senior referee Jim Harris said they wouldn't pull the same trick again and ordered the bout to continue.  With Mephisto stunned, James put him away with the sitout gourdbuster to win the tournament.
