NXT + Impact

WWE NXT

Commentators:  Tom Phillips, Alex Riley, & Renee Young.  Ring announcer:  Byron Saxton.

Earlier today:  Sylvester Lefort vented to the mystery blonde about his problems with Alexander Rusev...she retorted in Russian that he is HER client now.

Alexander Rusev(w/ Lana Perry and new theme) vs. Sylvester Lefort:  Our new gal finally gets a name in the entrance graphic.  Lefort quickly tries to talk(and pay) his way out of the impending beating...Rusev simply whips him into the ropes, clotheslines him to the mat, and locks on the Accolade camel clutch for the easy tapout.  Yes, that was the full play-by-play.

Backstage:  Bayley Rose(w/ Charlotte Flair) is happy that she got her headband fixed...enter Summer Rae & Sasha Banks to be the mean girls again.  Bayley wants to make new friends but Charlotte doesn't trust them...

El Local vs. Leo Kruger:  This would be the original El Local(who I've referred to as "Uno" in his recent tag matches on WWE TV)...don't see this going well for him.  Kruger hits a quick spinebuster and it's downhill from there.  Local gets off a boot but gets leg-swept off the second rope and literally thrown into the turnbuckles.  Slice lariat sets up three snap suplexes in a row, then he transitions from the third into a double-underhook guillotine lock for the tapout.

Backstage:  NXT Women's Champion Paige Knight and Emma Tayla have a heated discussion over their recent respective miscues...

NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension(Conor O'Brian & Rick Victor) vs. Travis Tyler & Troy McClain(non-title):  Squash would appear to be in season.  Fans:  "Let's Go, These Guys!"  I do like that chain of headlock takeovers that O'Brian does(Tyler being the victim).  McClain never makes it into the ring as Victor pins Tyler after the Fall Of Man(legsweep/flying European uppercut combo).

Mojo Rawley vs. Ty Dillinger:  As usual, there's no shortage of energy out of Rawley.  You may or may not know Dillinger as Shawn/Gavin Spears; he had a previous stint with WWE/FCW.  Fans seem to be into Mojo already, so that's a good sign for him.  Dillinger does slightly better than the usual cannon fodder on this show, but the chops turn out to be A Bad Idea(tm).  Rawley goes into the three-point stance en route to his comeback and finishes with the Earthquake buttdrop.

Next week:  Charlotte & Bayley vs. Summer & Sasha, plus Adrian Neville vs. Corey Graves in a best-of-three-falls match.

Kassius Ohno vs. Luke Harper:  The theme rules, but the vibe isn't quite the same with Bray Wyatt absent.  Ohno starts fast and the bout turns into a slugfest right away...don't think this'll be too technical.  Renee puts it well by saying that Harper is "farmboy strong" rather than "gym strong".  Harper dominates for a while and slows the pace...these guys match up well in the size department as neither guy's going to easily take down the other with the usual strikes.  Harper gives him a taste of his own CRAVATE~! at one point.  Ohno nails a roaring elbow out of the blue that sends Harper to the floor, then follows with a swinging dropkick through the ropes...that might alter things a bit.

Back in the ring, an Ohno senton gets two but Harper sends him back to the floor with IT'S THE BIG FOOT.  Kassius barely beats the count at nine but can't muster the energy to fight back.  Ohno gets a surprise rollup for two but Harper immediately mows him down again...rough night for Ohno so far.  GATOR ROLL~!(rolling facelock) keeps Ohno down for a bit and a catapult in the ropes doesn't help matters.  Ohno manages another burst of offense after a major dropkick...Buff Blockbuster(!) gets two.  Harper blocks a Rude Awakening and hits the sitout Bossman Slam...for two.  IT'S THE BIG FOOT~!...gets two.  Avalanche hits, but Ohno comes back with the roaring elbow out of nowhere...for 2 1/2!  Ohno keeps up the pressure but runs right into the discus lariat...and that'll do it.
