NXT + Impact

WWE NXT

Commentators:  Tony Dawson & S. William Regal.  Ring announcer:  Byron Saxton.

Dusty Rhodes meets with Bo Dallas and Corey Graves backstage...Graves returns the NXT Title belt that he "borrowed" last week, then Dusty announces a triple threat main event for the next shot at Big E Langston:  Dallas vs. Graves vs. Conor O'Brian.

Justin Gabriel(w/ Tyson Kidd) vs. Leo Kruger:  This stems from Kruger interrupting the injured Kidd's interview on last week's show...the rivalry between the South Africans dates back to their FCW days.  YAY WRESTLING~!  Regal notes that Gabriel's working a ground game because Kruger would be expecting the aerial attack...PSYCHOLOGY~!  Leo targets the arm after sending Gabriel shoulder-first into the ringpost...so Gabriel uses his feet to kick his way into a comeback.  Springboard cross-body gets two...he goes to the top, but Kruger snaps the arm off the rope, then mows him down with a clothesline...for two.  Leo tries a superplex but Justin fights back...sunset bomb!  Back to the third floor...450 Splash hits and Gabriel gets the win!  However, he war isn't over as Kruger swipes one of Kidd's crutches and jabs Gabriel in the ribs with it...this feud MUST CONTINUE~!

Aksana Raudoniene vs. Emma Tayla:  So who's the face in this match?  Emma has trouble with her skin-the-cat-esque ring entrance...hate when that happens.  Aksana goes on the offensive, but Emma lures her into a throat-snap off the top rope.  The match breaks down into mostly roughhouse tactics by both women...but Emma's insistence on mid-match dancing leads to her downfall as she runs into the Devo Drop(spinebuster) for the Aksana victory.

Backstage:  Renee Young reports that Bo Dallas has been attacked by SOMEONE...

Corey Graves vs. Conor O'Brian:  Bo Dallas can't compete in the scheduled main event so it's now a one-on-one matchup.  So who's the face in THIS one?  Graves would seem to be the underdog based simply on size, but he takes out the leg to gain an edge.  Corey surprisingly maintains control for a while but O'Brian finally fights his way back into the match.  Flapjack hits but THE LIGHTS GO OUT IN ORLANDO...and The Shield members beat down both men for the no-contest!  Long way to go for THAT finish...Graves takes the triple powerbomb and Conor gets laid out as well.  Dean Ambrose lets us know they haven't forgotten about NXT...Seth says things will get worse before they get better and Roman Reigns tells us to believe in The Shield.  Okay then.

TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay & Todd Keneley.
-Velvet Sky d. Tara Varon(w/ Jessie Godderz) to retain the Women's Title (referee Taryn Terrell).  Taryn ejected Jessie from ringside and Sky went on to win with the In Yo' Face(sitout Pedigree).
-Tag Team Champion Austin Aries d. Shawn Hernandez after knocking him out with a chain.
-Kenny King d. Rob Van Dam to win the X-Division Title.  Van Dam missed a 450 Splash and King got a near-fall, but the Royal Flush was enough to keep RVD down for the pin.
-Ivelisse Velez(formerly Sofia Cortez on NXT) d. Lei'D Tapa(niece of The Barbarian) with a guillotine lock (referee Taryn Terrell).
-Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy & Bully Ray d. Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian when Hardy pinned Daniels after the swanton bomb.

WWE Raw

-Commentators:  Michael Cole & Jerry Lawler.
-The show started with the fight between Vince McMahon and Paul Heyman...Vince got the upper hand which brought out Brock Lesnar.  However, Triple H made his entrance and the two brawled.
-Ryback d. Dolph Ziggler(w/ A.J. Lee & Big E Langston) with the Shellshock.
-Newest Hall Of Fame inductee(celebrity wing):  Donald Trump.
-Mark Henry d. The Great Khali after the World's Strongest Slam.
-MizTV featured a war of words between World Champion Alberto Del Rio(w/ Ricardo Rodriguez) and Jack Swagger(w/ Zeb Coulter).  Zeb claimed biased interviewing on the part of Mike Mizanin...leading to Swagger attacking Miz from behind.
-Randy Orton d. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro(non-title); Cesaro tried a flying move off the second rope but got RKOed in mid-air for the finish.
-"R-Truth" Ron Killings d. Cody Rhodes(w/ Damien Sandow) after the Paydirt.
-Tag Team Champions Hell No(Kane & Daniel Bryan) d. The Prime Time Players(Titus O'Neil & Darren Young)(non-title); per Vickie Guerrero & Brad Maddox, Kane had one arm tied behind his back and Bryan was blindfolded.  Kane got the winning pin on Young after the chokeslam.
-Jack Swagger(w/ Zeb Coulter) d. Mike Mizanin with the Patriot Lock.
-John Cena d. C.M. Punk after the second F-U of the match.

SICW Special Comment

Pretty good turnout for the show...will be interesting to see how the audience holds up now that they're running in Fairmont City on a more regular basis.

Face/heel scorecard: Bobby D worked face against Brandon Gallagher, Max Archer worked face against Alexandre Rudolph, Purple Passion worked face against Jake Dirden...I'm sending an imbalance in The Force with too many heels in one group. On top of that, The Big Texan has been a long-term heel but his opponent Brent Myers seemed to be working heel at times in their matchup.

Hadn't heard about Chris Hargas' car accident and injury; best of luck to him in his recovery.

It was a surprise to see Flash Flanagan...they seem to be setting him up as a regular with the promotion, especially with his ties to Puerto Rican wrestling and Ricky Cruz.

The sound guy had fun on this show...he antagonized Flanagan with "Another One Bites The Dust" after Flanagan complained about it, then cued up the Spongebog Squarepants theme after Travis Cook's proteges won their tag match.

Dirden and Texan may need to figure out who's gonna do the chokeslam when they're working on the same show...

Kasa & Vaughn's team won which made sense to push them in their respective issues with Ricky Cruz...Vaughn has the next title shot in East Carondelet while Kasa's still pushing the "two non-title wins over Ricky = ME CHAMPION". Wonder if Travis will have to make a choice between his two wrestlers in the near future.

Odd to end the show with two non-finishes, but I guess they're building to something at the next Fairmont City show on April 20th.

March looks like this:

3/2: Nothing scheduled
3/9: SICW in East Carondelet
3/16: MMWA in St. Louis
3/23: MECW in Wood River(doing a comedy show that night so I won't make it)
3/30: CSCW in Swansea

-Tournament Semifinal:  Heath Hatton d. -Ricky Cruz fought Ron Powers(w/ Big Texan) to a no-contest to retain the Classic Title.  Referee Keith Smith Jr. was knocked down early by an accidental boot from Cruz, then Powers punched out second official Jim Harris when Harris stopped Powers from using a chain.  Powers & Texan beat down Cruz until Gary Jackson made the save, setting up an impromptu tag match...
-Classic Champion Ricky Cruz & Gary Jackson fought Ron Powers & The Big Texan to a double countout.  This was a wild brawl from the opening bell as the four men fought all over the building.  Steel chairs came into play and the locker room emptied to restore order at the end of the night.

NXT + Impact

WWE NXT

Commentators:  Tom Phillips & S. William Regal.  Ring announcer:  Byron Saxton.

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Bray Wyatt(w/ Luke Harper & Erick Rowan):  This is Wyatt's official return to the ring after a long injury layoff.  Bray drops Yoshi with a uranagi and follows up with the HUNDRED HAND SLAP~! and avalanche.  Rapture ends it in short order...guess squash is in season.  Wyatt orders his family into the ring for some verbal abuse over last week's loss...he orders Rowan to slap Harper, then tells Harper to return the favor and even encourages them to brawl for a moment before settling them down.

Backstage, Renee Young interviews Sasha Banks about her secret admirer...she gets one more letter, but it's a fakeout as Audrey Marie attacks her from behind.

Xavier Woods vs. El Local:  Hadn't seen either of these guys too much lately.  Local does better than expected as Regal agonizes over the inexperience of his recent broadcast colleagues.  Woods gets the win after a tornado DDT...nicely done.

Backstage, Renee Young interviews a doctor about Paige's shoulder injury from last week.

Sasha Banks vs. Audrey Marie:  Wow, two feuds at one time in the NXT women's division.  Sasha is all business from the opening bell but Audrey cuts her off in a hurry.  Sasha counters a side backbreaker into a flying headscissors and makes a comeback, but falls victim to a wheelbarrow faceplant(called the Photo Finish by Phillips) and Audrey gets the win.

Backstage, Renee interviews Summer Rae...she's more concerned about her broken nail than Paige's injured shoulder.  She dubs herself the First Lady Of NXT...okay then.

Tony Dawson interviews the injured Tyson Kidd...he was wrestling at a house show and messed up his knee, then aggravated the injury by wrestling again the following night.  Dawson brings up C.M. Punk's recent compliment on WWE TV(calling him an underappreciated workhorse), but Leo Kruger interrupts and vows to end the career of the "wounded animal".  Kruger swats away Kidd's crutches, but Justin Gabriel(Kidd's tag partner and Leo's long-time rival) arrives to run him off.

NXT Champion Big E Langston vs. Conor O'Brian, non-title:  Guess the memo about referring to this brand of contest as "title-free" hasn't reached NXT yet.  CHALK UP~!  The early power battle seems to be a stalemate...at least until Big E gets the better of a brawling exchange and clotheslines O'Brian to the floor.  Conor takes control after a blind charge hits ringpost...this is the first time Langston has been in real trouble in a while.  O'Brian hits a full nelson slam for two, but Big E fights back as the match turns into a slugfest.  The referee takes his life into his hands by getting between the two powerhouses and he gets thrown down in the chaos, leading to a double DQ...bah.  Big E clotheslines O'Brian out of the ring again and stands tall...but Corey Graves hits him from behind out of nowhere and runs off with the belt!  Langston gives chase as we fade out...

TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay, Todd Keneley, & Taz.
-James Storm, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Shawn Hernandez, & Joseph Park d. Tag Team Champions Bobby Roode & Austin Aries, Christopher Daniels, & Frankie Kazarian when Chavo pinned Kazarian after a big splash off the second rope by Park.
-Rockstar Spud d. Robbie Eckos(w/ Robbie Terry) via victory roll.
-Velvet Sky won a four-way dance with Gail Kim, Brooke Tessmacher, and Tara Varon(C)(w/ Jessie Godderz) to win the Women's Title; Brooke Hogan watched from ringside.  Gail stole the pin on Tara after Velvet's In Yo' Face(sitout Pedigree).  Velvet pinned Tessmacher by rolling through an O'Connor Roll.  Velvet got the winning pin on Gail after the In Yo' Face.
-Samoa Joe d. Garett Bischoff by DQ when Wes Brisco interfered; Kurt Angle made the save.
-Rob Van Dam d. Kenny King with the five-star frog splash to retain the X-Division Title.
-The Aces & Eights(T.V. Champion Brother Devon, Ken Anderson, & Doc Gallows) d. Hulk Hogan, Sting, & Bully Ray.  Hulk never came out but was later dragged to ringside by other members of the gang along with Brooke.  Ray ran off to protect Brooke but that left Sting alone in the ring; Sting got Anderson in the Scorpion Deathlock but Doc broke it up with IT'S THE BIG FOOT and got the pin.

WWE Raw

-Commentators:  Michael Cole & Jerry Lawler.
-Mark Henry d. Sin Cara with the World's Strongest Slam.
-Mike Mizanin d. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro in a non-title no-DQ match with the figure-four leglock.
-World Champion Alberto Del Rio d. Dolph Ziggler(w/ A.J. Lee & Big E Langston)(non-title) with the cross-armbreaker takedown.  Langston laid out Del Rio with the Big Ending afterwards and Ziggler teased a cash-in, but Ricardo played keep-away with the briefcase long enough for Albert to recover and nail Dolph with an enzuigiri.
-Brodus Clay, Lord Tensai, & Naomi Night(w/ Cameron Lynn) d. Primo & Epico Colon & Rosa Mendes when Brodus pinned Epico after the stereo big splashes with Tensai.
-Jack Swagger(w/ Zeb Coulter) d. Tag Team Champion Daniel Bryan with the Patriot Act anklelock.
-The Shield(Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns) d. Ryback, Sheamus O'Shaunessy, & Chris Jericho; Jericho had Ambrose in the Walls Of Jericho, but Seth broke it up with a springboard knee trembler and Dean got the pin.
-Kofi Kingston vs. Damien Sandow never started as the two brawled before the bell; Sandow got the better of the fight but "R-Truth" Ron Killings returned from his injury layoff to make the save.
-Randy Orton d. Tag Team Champion Kane; Daniel Bryan came out as Kane was setting up for the chokeslam and Randy took advantage of the distraction by hitting the RKO for the win.
-The show ended with WWE Champion The Rock's "championship celebration"...he brought out a customized title belt after finally retiring the spinner belt.  Cena came out to confront him but was BELTed from behind by C.M. Punk with the spinner belt.

MMWA Special Comment

Another packed house at South Broadway...to the point where it was almost impossible to find a seat and some people had trouble seeing the action. In terms of business, I guess that's a nice problem to have.

I got to see Flaming Freddie Fury for the first time...yay? It seems redundant to have Fury on the roster at the same time as Brandon Espinosa's current character incarnation.

Speaking of which, Espinosa seemed to be a face in previous months, but he returned to his heelish ways by costing A.J. Williams his match against Jimmy D. Jimmy got booed enough after the match that he did a heel promo in response...which means Phil E. Blunt is returning a face.

Dave Vaughn had been MIA from South Broadway for several months due to Missouri licensing issues...they officially announced that he has become "exclusive to SICW" and the T.V. Title was vacated as a result.

I thought they had said last month that the Tag Team Title situation would be settled this month...but there was no sign of the belts in the Kings-Lumberjacks match. Good setup for a program between the only two teams in the group, at any rate.

Stevie K and Big Texan had a better match this month than last month and they had a decisive finish this time around.

Wilder wins! Wilder wins! Wilder wins!

Gary had been Heavyweight Champion for close to a year so I guess he was due to drop the belt...only odd in the sense that he's on the local KDHX billboards with the title in tow. Rematch imminent, of course. Rough month for Gary as he lost his challenge against SICW Classic Champion Ricky Cruz as well and now has lost the MMWA belt to Dave Osborne. The two King Of St. Louis Cable tournament winners have both gone on to capture the Heavyweight Title(it was Espinosa the previous year).

Upcoming: SICW in Fairmont City next weekend...don't think there's anything local in the first week of March. After that, there's SICW and MMWA...won't make it to MECW due to a comedy show. The last weekend of March has a new group(CSCW) running in Swansea so I'll probably be checking that out.

WWE Elimination Chamber

-Brodus Clay & Lord Tensai(w/ Funkadactyls) d. The Rhodes Scholars(Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow) when Brodus pinned Cody after stereo big splashes off the ropes.
-Alberto Del Rio(w/ Ricardo Rodriguez) d. The Big Show with the cross-armbreaker takedown(!) to retain the World Title.
-Antonio Cesaro d. Mike Mizanin by DQ to retain the U.S. Title.  Miz was working the leg to set up the figure-four leglock but Cesaro kicked his leg in such a way that Miz landed knee-first on Cesaro's groin...getting Miz disqualified for the low blow.
-Elimination Chamber entry order:  Chris Jericho and Tag Team Champion Daniel Bryan, Jack Swagger, Tag Team Champion Kane, Randy Orton, and Mark Henry.  Eliminations:  Henry pinned Bryan after the World's Strongest Slam.  Henry pinned Kane after the 'Slam.  Orton pinned Henry after IT'S THE BIG FOOT from Swagger, a Codebreaker from Jericho, and the RKO.  Orton pinned Jericho after the RKO, then Swagger rolled up Orton for the final pin.
-The Shield(Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns) d. John Cena, Ryback, & Sheamus O'Shaunessy; Ryback had Rollins up for the Shellshock but Reigns speared him and Seth fell on top for the three-count.
-Dolph Ziggler(w/ A.J. Lee & Big E Langston) d. Kofi Kingston after the Zigzag.
-Kaitlyn Bonin d. Tamina Snuka with the spear to retain the Women's Title.
-The Rock d. C.M. Punk(w/ Paul Heyman) to retain the WWE Title; the title could have changed hands on a countout or DQ.  The Rock Bottom only got a two-count...the referee got bumped and Punk hit the Go 2 Sleep for a LONG visual fall.  Rock came back with the spinebuster and People's Elbow and a second ref ran in to count...two.  The second ref was knocked out of the ring but Punk accidentally BELTed Heyman, leading to a second Rock Bottom for the pinfall.

Saturday MMWA Results From St. Louis, MO + Other Show Results

-Moondog Rover d. Flaming Freddie Fury with a World's Strongest Slam.
-The Big Texan d. Webmaster Stevie K after a chokeslam and big splash.
-Jimmy D d. A.J. Williams to win the vacant T.V. Title.  Williams hit a Macho Elbow but Jr. Heavyweight Champion Brandon Espinosa ran out to throw a chair in the ring.  As the referee was getting rid of the chair, Espinosa dropped A.J. with the Combover(cobra-clutch Stroke) which allowed Jimmy D to cover for the win.  Jimmy D's victory speech wasn't all that complimentary toward the fans in attendance...leading to Phil E. Blunt confronting the new titleholder.
-Brandon Espinosa d. Brian James to retain the Jr. Heavyweight Title.  James riled up Espy by repeatedly messing with his hair, leading to Espinosa jabbing him in the throat with his ever-present hairbrush before getting the cheap pin.
-Battle Royal Champion Chase King & Matt King fought The Lumberjacks(Abe & Gabe) to a no-contest when the referee lost control of the match.  All four men brawled in and out of the ring until referees and other wrestlers ran out to break things up.
-Andrew Wilder d. Draco Verdadero after an inverted swinging neckbreaker.
-Dave Osborne d. Gary Jackson to win the Heavyweight Title by countering a Texas Cloverleaf attempt into a small package pin.  The post-match interview set up a potential rematch between the two(likely at the March show).

NXT + Impact

WWE NXT

Commentators:  Tony Dawson & S. William Regal.  Ring announcers:  Summer Rae & Byron Saxton.

Mike Dalton vs. Axl Keegan:  Paige Knight storms past Keegan in the aisleaway and chases Summer out of the ring...then enters the ring to issue a challenge.  Keegan takes offense to his match being pre-empted and gets slapped...well, so much for our opener.  Enter General Manager/Commissioner Dusty Rhodes...he wants Paige to leave the ring, but Summer comes back out with another microphone to hurl threats.  Dusty gets caught in the middle of the CATFIIIIGHT...but Paige somehow hurts her arm in the chaos.

Backstage:  The trainer checks on Paige's arm.

Alex Riley vs. Corey Graves:  Graves attacked Riley after a bout two weeks ago, so we've got this grudge match.  Riley fires up to start, but a well-placed kick to the knee halts that momentum in a hurry.  Riley regains control with a suplex reversal and spinebuster, but Graves powers him out of the corner and clips the knee...The 13th Step(Fuller Leglock) follows and Riley is forced to tap out.

Paige Knight(w/ bandaged shoulder) vs. Summer Rae:  This will actually be Summer's in-ring television debut...Paige has been on a roll but she's going into this match with an injury.  Paige goes right after her opponent, but Rae kicks the arm and hits a single-arm DDT(psychology~!).  Paige makes a one-armed comeback but Summer gets a hold of the arm again and yanks it over the ropes.  Rae takes her out with a spinning kick...and that's enough for the pin, shockingly enough.

Backstage, Sasha Banks gets another love letter from her secret admirer...she'll meet her admirer next week.

Dusty brings the Tag Title belts to the ring for our main event...

Adrian Neville & Oliver Grey vs. The Wyatt Family(Luke Harper & Erick Rowan)(w/ Bray Wyatt), Tag Team Title Tournament Finals:  Neville & Grey defeated the 3-Man Band duo of Heath Slater & Drew McIntyre in the first round and then bested Kassius Ohno & Leo Kruger to reach the finals; The Wyatt Family beat Yoshi Tatsu & Percy Watson, then Bo Dallas & Michael McGillicutty to get to this point.  Bray Wyatt enlightens us...they're bigger, stronger, and more dangerous.  He tells his proteges to "follow the buzzards'...and thus we begin.

Grey gets the better of the opening exchange with Harper and nails the suicide dive, then the British competitors isolate Rowan with some quick tags.  The heels manage to overpower their opponents on a few occasions but can't seem to keep control for very long.  Grey finally ends up in the wrong part of town and Bray Wyatt SWEEPS THE LEG~! while he's on the apron.  Dusty confronts Bray and ejects him from ringside...that may change the complexion of this matchup.

Despite the absence of their manager, The Wyatt Family members dominate Grey...but two missed elbowdrops by Harper finally allow Grey to tag in Neville!  Adrian is a house afire and cleans house, tilt-a-whirling into a mid-air DDT on Harper!  Cover...gets two.  Neville stuns Harper with a roundhouse kick from the apron, then springboards...right into IT'S THE BIG FOOT!  Cover...Grey saves!  Rowan tosses Grey, but he gets sent to the floor himself by a mistimed discus lariat from his partner!  Neville takes out Harper with an enzuigiri...third floor...corkscrew shooting star press HITS and we have our first NXT Tag Team Champions!  Dusty presents the belts to the new titleholders and Dawson does the post-match interview...they're excited, yup.

Next week:  Big E Langston vs. Conor O'Brian for the NXT Title, plus an interview with the injured Tyson Kidd.

TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay, Todd Keneley, & Taz.
-Brutus Magnus d. Christopher Daniels(w/ Frankie Kazarian) after the Macho Elbow.
-Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe ended in a no-contest when Wes Brisco and Garett Bischoff attacked both men; Angle and Joe fought back until the Aces & Eights duo retreated.
-Jessie Godderz, Women's Champion Tara Varon, & Gail Kim d. "Party" Marty Scurll & The Blossom Twins(Hannah & Holly) when Gail pinned Hannah(I think) after the Eat-The-Feet.
-James Storm d. X-Division Champion Rob Van Dam(non-title) via Last Call superkick after RVD missed a (chair-free) Van Terminator.
-Tag Team Champion Austin Aries fought Tag Team Champion Bobby Roode to a double countout after both were distracted by the presence of Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Shawn Hernandez outside the ring.

-Match 5 Of 5:  Billy Buck d. B(r)o Newsom(w/ Miss Rachel) after the second Buck Wild superkick of the match to win the vacant T.V. Title.
-Seth Delay d. Mike Posey after hitting him with brass knuckles with the referee down; promoter Franklin Dove came out in a referee's shirt to make the three-count.
-Stryknyn won a four-way dance with Anthony Henry, Bobby Moore, and Jacoby Boykins to retain the Young Lions' Title.  Stryknyn pinned Boykins(thanks to a dogpile effort with Henry and Moore) after the spear; Henry pinned Moore after a hiptoss-into-knee-strike finisher.  Stryknyn countered Henry's Texas Cloverleaf into a small package for the final fall.
-Shaun Tempers(w/ Jeff G. Bailey) d. Brodie Ray Chase in a first-blood match to regain the Heavyweight Title.  Senior official Brent Wiley was very selective in his observations of the bloodshed(especially with Bailey wiping off Tempers' face with a towel at every opportunity).  Jagged Edge interfered and rammed Brodie into the ringpost, leaving Chase bloody and making Tempers the winner.
-Phil Gunner, Iceberg, Azrael, & Slim J(w/ Dan Wilson) d. Bryan Cassanova, Geter, & Tag Team Champions The Urban Assault Squad(Shadow Jackson & Nemesis)(w/ Jeff G. Bailey & Jerry Palmer) when Gunner pinned Nemesis after the PTSD Powerbomb.

-Chris Jericho d. Tag Team Champions Daniel Bryan after the Codebreaker to qualify for the Elimination Chamber.
-John Cena, Ryback, & Sheamus O'Shaunessy d. The 3-Man Band(Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre, & Jinder Mahal) when Cena pinned Mahal after the F-U.
-Jack Swagger(w/ Zebekiah Coulter) d. Zack Ryder with the Patriot Act(anklelock).
-Mike Mizanin d. Cody Rhodes by DQ when U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro(who was doing commentary) attacked Miz.  Cesaro repeatedly bashed Miz into the ringside barrier with a GIANT SWING~! after the bell.
-Brodus Clay & Lord Tensai(w/ Funkadactyls) d. Primo & Epico Colon(w/ Rosa Mendes) when Tensai pinned Epico after the running senton.
-World Champion Alberto Del Rio(w/ Ricardo Rodriguez) d. Damien Sandow(non-title) with the cross-armbreaker takedown.
-Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett d. Kofi Kingston(non-title) despite being attacked by Bo Dallas backstage before the match.  Wade ducked out of the ring to avoid the Trouble In Paradise, then trapped Kofi under the ring apron banner and FOREARMed him while he couldn't see it coming...Barrett got the pin after that.
-Tag Team Champions Kane d. Dolph Ziggler(w/ A.J. Lee & Big E Langston) after the chokeslam to qualify for the Elimination Chamber.
-WWE Champion The Rock closed the show...C.M. Punk(w/ Paul Heyman) provided the expected interruption and they fought, leading to Rock giving him a spinebuster.  Heyman tripped up Rock before he could hit the People's Elbow and Punk delivered the Go 2 Sleep, then left with the title belt...

MECW Special Comment

The crowd at MECW wasn't quite at the level as last month's but was still good...hate to miss any show but sometimes two groups just happen to run on the same night(SICW also had a show last Saturday).

Shawn Santel has been conspicuous by his absence lately...wonder if he's having injury issues again. McDarby's fallen down the card a bit in recent months, dropping the Great Plains Title to Evan Money and now losing in the opener while having his shillelagh shot practically no-sold by Joey.

For those keeping score: Mike Sydal and Bradley Charles were heels, Davey Richards turned heel(after fighting Kozina at last month's show), Tony Kozina remained a heel, Mark Sterling was a heel, Kyle O'Reilly remained a face, Matt King is a heel in MECW, Justin Reno seems to be a face(despite teaming with old ally Sarin Sinn a few shows ago), and Michael Elgin worked as a heel. Got all that?

Gosh darn it, we're gonna have to see Billy McNeil and Mike Sydal wrestle again to settle their issues. Gosh darn it.

Second MECW show in a row where the advertised Davey Richards singles match became a six-man tag on the fly...form your own opinions, I suppose. Richards' team worked as cowardly overselling heels which was just...odd. Don't know how many MECW fans watch Ring Of Honor's TV show, but the face/heel roles are reversed in ROH where Davey's the face and Kyle's the heel. Entertaining match, at any rate.

Chase King and Matt King(no relation, for the record) are faces and tag partners in MMWA...but faced each other with Matt King as the heel in MECW. Add that to the Davey/Kyle situation...I try to think in terms of comic books: The wrestling world's a multiverse and different people play different roles in each mini-universe. Or something.

I had wondered if they'd do a title change in the main event to set up a rematch...Allen retained, but they still set up a potential rematch so there you have it.

Touching on the SICW show: Bull Schmitt made his debut for the group: He was a WLW regular and has been working Metro Pro more recently. Flash Flanagan also made his first appearance with SICW...he has wrestled in Puerto Rico as Slash Venom and they seem to be pushing a potential feud with Classic Champion Ricky Cruz. Cruz scored a decisive win over Gary Jackson to retain his title; however, Ken Kasa is still claiming to be the uncrowned champion after pinning Ricky in a tag match in December and then beating him by DQ last month.

Anywho...the rest of the month has MMWA at South Broadway and then SICW in Fairmont City. Good times.

Pro Wrestling Collision Episode 1

-Commentators:  Kevin Hunsperger & Jerome Cusson.
-Promoter Chris Hagstrom kicks off the show and introduces the participants in the Collision Cup Tournament.  Hagstrom announces that the tournament was originally meant to crown a top contender to the Heavyweight Title, but Edmund "Livewire" McGuire was unable to fulfill his contractual obligations so the tournament would be for the newly-vacant title.
-Tournament Quarterfinal:  No Limits Champion Joey O'Riley d. Matt Cage(w/ Christian Rose & Zakk Sawyer); O'Riley countered a cobra clutch by kicking off the turnbuckles and landing on top for the pin.  Team Overkill gang-attacked Joey afterwards...Kyle Sykes made the save, kick-starting the next tournament matchup...
-Tournament Quarterfinal:  Christian Rose d. Kyle Sykes after a modified Go 2 Sleep.  Chase King watched the match from ringside.
-Tournament Quarterfinal:  Alex Castle(w/ Angelus Layne) d. Tag Team Champion Ace Hawkins(w/ Brandon Espinosa) by blocking a re-entry sunset flip and holding onto Layne for illegal leverage.
-Tournament Quarterfinal:  Heath Hatton d. Tag Team Champion Brandon Espinosa(w/ Ace Hawkins).  Espinosa fought off a run-in by Castle, but Castle retaliated by tripping him during a re-entry suplex and holding his foot as Hatton fell on top for the three-count.

Saturday MECW Results From Wood River, IL + Other Show Results

Joey d. Mauler McDarby(w/ Vern Harlow) in the opener; McDarby hit Joey with his shillelagh while Harlow distracted the referee, but Joey still caught McDarby with the chokeslam for the win.

Mike Sydal won a triple threat match with Bradley Charles and Billy McNeil when he rolled up McNeil with a handful of tights.

It looked like Chris Logan vs. Davey Richards would be a battle of respect...but Logan was the victim of a three-on-one attack by Richards, Tony Kozina, and Mark Sterling.  Kyle O'Reilly and Evan Money made the save and Mr. K ordered an impromptu six-man tag match...

Tag Team Champion Chris Logan, Kyle O'Reilly, & Great Plains Champion Evan Money d. Davey Richards, Independent Champion Tony Kozina, & Mark Sterling; Richards got Logan in the anklelock but Logan kicked him off into Kozina and then got the rollup pin.

Matt King d. Chase King after hitting a modified Russian legsweep and covering with feet on the ropes.

Justin Reno d. Jordan McEntyre by DQ due to McEntyre repeatedly shoving the referee away as he was beating down Reno.  McEntyre punched out the ref and hit Reno with a double-underhook piledriver, then protested the decision to Mr. K...who promptly suspended him!

Shane Fury d. Tag Team Champion Shorty Biggs(w/ Chris Logan); the ref was knocked down and Fury knocked out Shorty with the title belt before getting the three-count.  With the win, Fury earned himself and Marcello Spade a future shot at the Tag Titles.

Eric Allen scored a hard-fought win over Ring Of Honor star Michael Elgin to retain the Heavyweight Title.  Elgin survived Allen's Shortcut and then a running knee strike, then powered out of a sleeperhold by climbing to the second rope and falling backwards onto Allen.  Elgin set up for his finishing spiral bomb but Allen double-legged him down into a jackknife cradle for the flash pin!  Elgin professed respect for Allen after the match...only to deck him with the belt and then leave him laying after two powerbombs onto the gold!

NXT + Impact

WWE NXT

Commentators:  Tony Dawson & S. William Regal.  Ring announcer:  Byron Saxton.

Adrian Neville & Oliver Grey vs. Kassius Ohno & Leo Kruger, Tag Team Title Tournament Semifinals:  Ohno & Kruger defeated Alex Riley & Derrick Bateman last week to advance in the tourney; Neville & Grey beat Heath Slater & Drew McIntyre of the 3-Man Band.  Regal notes Grey's background, listing Johnny Saint as one of his trainers.  YAY WRESTLING~!  The good guys control the action with technical wrestling and quick tags in the opening minutes.  However, Kruger gets a timely tag(tm Jim Ross) and nails Grey from behind...that puts the established heel duo in command of the match for a while.

It sounds odd to hear Regal talk about DeGeneration X and the New Age Outlaws in the same breath as the Andersons and the Rock 'N' Roll Express when discussing great tag teams.  Grey gets a few flash pin attempts on Kruger but gets cut off from the tag...until he avoids a Stinger Splash and tags are made on both sides!  Neville is a house afire and dropkicks Leo off the apron, but he eats a boot from Ohno that sends him to the floor.  Ohno gets occupied with yelling at Regal, allowing Neville to recover with a huge half-twist somersault plancha!  He stuns Ohno with a roundhouse kick from the apron as Grey pulls Kruger off the apron, then hits the corkscrew shooting star press for the win!

Backstage:  Renee Young interviews Summer Rae...she got sick of being a ring announcer while Paige Knight got all the attention in the ring.  Apparently "Summer School" is always in session...

Mike Dalton vs. Conor O'Brian:  Dalton gets some token offense but that's about it...a Flapjack and a Legdrop O' Doom to the back of the head finish things in short order.  O'Brian demands a five-count, intending to send a message to the NXT Champion Big E Langston...and the message is received as the champ makes his entrance.  Big E one-ups him by hitting the Big Ending on Dalton before leaving the ring...

Backstage:  Paige Knight demands a shot at Summer Rae...Dusty tries to calm her down, but she vows to get her revenge next week.  Paige bumps into Sasha Banks on the way out...Paige is in no mood for chit-chat.  Dusty congratulates Sasha on her win...but he also has another message from Sasha's secret admirer.

We get a highlight reel of the NXT tournament for a spot in the Royal Rumble..  The first round saw Neville defeat Corey Graves, Kruger pin Xavier Woods, Bo Dallas upend Luke Harper, and O'Brian beat Grey.  In the semifinals, Kruger took advantage of a missed move by Neville to reach the finals...Dallas beat O'Brian with a surprise sunset flip.  Old rivals Dallas and Kruger met in the finals...Bo got the win with the snap belly-to-belly suplex to earn his spot in the Rumble.

Backstage:  Loving brother Bray Wyatt has a chat with Bo Dallas...Bo beat his boy Harper in the tournament and they'll cross paths again tonight.

Bo Dallas & Michael McGillicutty vs. The Wyatt Family(Luke Harper & Erick Rowan)(w/ Bray Wyatt), Tag Team Title Tournament Semifinals:  Dallas & McGillicutty beat Primo & Epico Colon in the tournament...Harper & Rowan defeated Yoshi Tatsu & Percy Watson.  The faces try the quick-tag game but the Wyatt Family members are just too big and strong for that to work.  Bo takes a beating but finally escapes a Rowan slam attempt to make the hot tag...MM powers Rowan up into a Saito Suplex, but Bray leaves his rocking chair for a well-timed foot grab.  The referee confronts him and ejects him from ringside...which is too bad as he misses McGillicutty's O'Connor Roll on Rowan.  Harper interjects himself with a big discus lariat...that's enough to keep MM down for the count as Rowan makes the cover.  Bray Wyatt has a talk with Bo and offers his hand...Dallas refuses the gesture and Bray orders the troops to surround the ring.  Bo is distracted and Wyatt hits Bo from behind, then drops him with the Rapture!  Wyatt shakes the hand of his fallen enemy...that's how we wrap things up.

Next week:  Neville & Grey vs. The Wyatt Family in the tournament finals for the Tag Team Titles.

TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay, Todd Keneley, & Taz.
-Rob Van Dam won a triple threat match with Kenny King and Shiima Xion to retain the X-Division Title.  King hit Xion with a Northern Lights suplex, but RVD broke up the pin with the five-star frog splash before covering Xion for the win.
-James Storm d. Jessie Godderz after the Last Call superkick.
-Bobby Roode & Austin Aries d. Chavo Guerrero Jr. & Shawn Hernanedez to win the Tag Team Titles.  The challengers had their issues, but got it together at the end thanks to Roode's low blow on Hernandez behind the referee's back.  Roode whipped Aries into a corner dropkick on Chavo, Aries whipped Chavo into Roode's spinebuster, then Aries finished with the 450 Splash.
-Brooke Tessmacher d. Women's Champion Tara Varon(non-title) after the atomic facebuster.
-Sting & Bully Ray d. T.V. Champion Brother Devon & Doc Gallows in a table match when Ray chokeslammed Devon through a table.  General Manager Hulk Hogan and Brooke celebrated with Sting & Ray afterwards.

TNA XPlosion
