-Paul Heyman hyped his client Brock Lesnar; Mark Henry confronted him again but Lesnar took him down with the kimura and injured his arm.  The Big Show came out to confront Lesnar...Show overpowered Brock and Heyman told his client to fight another day.
-Alicia Fox & Aksana Raudoniene d. The Bella Twins(Brie & Nikki); Aksana pinned Brie after Brie missed a dropkick off the second rope.
-Rikishi Phatu & Too Cool(Scotty 2 Hotty & "Grandmaster Sexay" Brian Christopher) d. The 3-Man Band(Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre, & Jinder Mahal) when Rikishi buttdropped and pinned Mahal.
-Wade "Bad News" Barrett interrupted the legends' curtain call with his usual brand of commentary.
-Roman Reigns(w/ U.S. Champion Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins) d. C.M. Punk(w/ New Age Outlaws); Ambrose distracted Punk just long enough for Reigns to hit the spear for the win.  The Shield looked for the usual post-match beatdown but Jake "The Snake" Roberts(!) made a surprise appearance and the good guys turned the tide.  Punk took out Ambrose with the Go 2 Sleep and Jake dropped the snake on him to end the show.
-Other cameos on the show:  Nikolai Volkoff, Ted DiBiase, Irwin R. Schyster, Diamond Dallas Page, Booker T, Ron Simmons, The Godfather, Mean Gene Okerlund.

Dynamo Special Comment

The first indy wrestling show of 2014 didn't happen under the best of circumstances. The first weekend after the holidays can be rough...secondly, the weather forecast essentially said that Jack Frost had hooked up with Mother Nature and we'd be getting hit with 6-18 inches of afterbirth. On top of that, there was a comedy show with Jimmie "J.J." Walker on the same night...in the SAME BUILDING.

As it turned out, the Tsnownami didn't hit until long after the show had ended...but the attendance was low on this night thanks to the winter weather alerts. The fans in attendance had good energy, at any rate.

Belleville officially clocked in at fourteen inches of snow and it was negative-eight degrees when I got up for work on Monday morning. In short: Good times.

Absences from the lineup/talent roster: Outtkast(specifically stated to be a Missouri licensing issue), Bradley Charles, Geek Singh, Alexandre Rudolph(wrestled in Texas), Jake Parnell. Your ring announcers were Ben Simon & Chris Roedel.

Not the best omen: The middle rope popped loose during the introductions for the opener. The ring crew did a quick fix as they moved the bottom rope to the middle; they brought out a fixed/substitute bottom rope after that match was over. The Black Hand Warriors did an impromptu heel promo to bash Fenton and the Cardinals while the crew did their work.

The show started a bit after 7:00 and was over shortly after 9...I imagine they wanted to wrap up quickly so everyone could get home before the Snowmageddon hit. To that end, it was a fairly short show with only five matches on the card.

At the previous WLW show, Dark Shadows had unmasked to reveal himself as David DeLorean. DeLorean had been an active wrestler under that name as well, but he had been a face prior to the reveal. The opener was good though part of the finishing sequence was a bit rough...you could chalk it up to the tag team inexperience of Shorty Biggs & Evan Money, so there you go.
Dynamo's had a few gaps between shows in the past(apparently due to the venue availability of the Sports Academy)...now that they're running more consistently, authority figure Mark Bland is concerned about title defense frequency. We were informed that the Dynamo Tag Titles will be defended in February whether Outtkast is available or not. It seems like the Black Hand Warriors have a good case for a title shot, but the High Level Enterprise team(Jack Gamble & Jon Webb) has contended with both the Warriors and the Bumrush Brothers in the past year. Add in the Travis Cook Organization and The First United Church Of Karrington, among others...the tag division is getting busy.

Brandon Gallagher's moving up in the world...he got a decisive win over Ace Hawkins and now seems poised to feud with Dan Walsh. He is NOT a Smurf, I am told, nor is he Katy Perry.

Good to see Jack Gamble back at Dynamo...he returned to action at WLW in December. He and his family were in a bad car accident several months ago after an MMWA show and it's good to hear that they're all doing well now. One of my friends said Jon Webb resembles Shane Helms in his look...I can kinda see it. I'd call it an upset win over the well-traveled and more experienced Brandon Espinosa...Gamble stopped Espy from cheating and I could see that singles match happening down the line.

Dan Walsh DIDN'T use "99 Problems" for his entrance theme and it threw me off a bit. You never quite know if Kevin X will be a face or a heel, it would seem. Gallagher's interference came out of nowhere but it sets up a new feud, so I'm cool with that.

I sometimes wonder if Dynamo should revive the light heavyweight division...they have enough wrestlers in that weight class and it would give some lower-card guys something to do. Just a random thought.

The main event was...odd in a sense. Elvis Aliaga seemed to come out as a heel and the fans were ready to cheer for Jake Dirden as the champion of the home promotion. Dirden came out and acted heelish as well, so the fans weren't quite sure who to cheer. As the match progressed, Aliaga established himself as the face for the night...he put up a strong fight but Dirden got the win. Elvis never tapped or submitted but passed out from the Asiatic Spike. With WLW moving to Troy, Missouri, we'll probably be seeing more of their crew in the near future...don't know if this will be a full-fledged working relationship with
Dynamo, but we'll see.

Dynamo is running at Off Broadway again in February...Tuesday night is an awkward time of the week for a wrestling show, but it worked out surprisingly well the last time.

-Ken Kasa(w/ Travis Cook & Dave Vaughn) d. Jake Dirden to retain the Classic Title. Kasa attempted to destroy Dirden's hand to neutralize the Asiatic Spike and the chokeslam. Vaughn's interference backfired and Dirden finally got him in the Spike; however, Kasa kicked off the turnbuckles and flipped on top to get the pin as Dirden refused to release the hold.

-Kevin Blue d. Tommy Penirelli to retain the Young Lions' Title by countering an anklelock attempt into a small package.  Shaun Tempers did commentary and got a good look at the title belt after the match.
-Tag Team Champions The Urban Assault Squad(Shadow Jackson & Nemesis) bemoaned their lack of contenders...that brought out Iceberg & Slim J to dispute that point.
-Match 1 Of Best-Of-3 Series:  Bobby Moore d. Billy Buck in a falls-count-anywhere match.  Both men seemed to be injured after Buck hit Moore with a top-rope Samoan Drop onto a ladder bridging two chairs.  The two somehow managed to recover and brawled on the arena floor, leading to Moore knocking out Buck with the loaded-elbowpad forearm smash for the win.

Saturday DPW Results From Fenton, MO + Other Show Results

WLW Tag Team Champions The Black Hand Warriors(Michael Magnuson & David DeLorean) d. Dynamo Tag Team Champion Shorty Biggs & Evan "Money" Morris(subbing for Outtkast) in a non-title match.  Morris got Magnuson in an O'Connor Roll, but DeLorean clotheslined Morris over and Magnuson reversed the pinning combination for the win.

Executive Director Of Operations Mark Bland spoke to Shorty after the match.  Bland said the Dynamo Tag Titles hadn't been defended in a while and that they WOULD be defended in February whether Shorty had Outtkast with him or not.

Brandon Gallagher defeated Ace Hawkins.  Gallagher pushed the referee into the ropes to knock Hawkins off-balance as he was on the top turnbuckle.  That led to Gallagher getting the win with the Champagne Supernova(cradle back suplex).

Jon Webb(w/ Jack Gamble) scored an upset win over Brandon Espinosa.  Espy had already used the ringbell hammer for a cheapshot earlier in the bout, but when he tried it again, Gamble grabbed the weapon away from him.  Webb took advantage of the distraction to hit Sliced Bread #2 for the victory.

Kevin X defeated Dan Walsh in a hard-fought matchup.  Walsh appeared to be on the verge of winning but Brandon Gallagher showed up at ringside for no known reason.  Gallagher wasn't able to directly interfere, but the distraction was enough of an opening for Kevin X to finish with the Pavement Drop.  Gallagher talked trash to the fallen former titleholder after the bout...

In the champion-vs.-champion main event, Jake Dirden retained his Dynamo Heavyweight Title against current WLW Heavyweight Champ Elvis Aliaga.  Each man survived the best the other could dish out...Aliaga even kicked out of the pin attempt after Dirden's chokeslam.  After great effort, Dirden finally managed to catch Aliaga in his trademark Asiatic Spike.  Elvis never tapped out or verbally submitted, but he passed out from the pain and the referee had to call for the bell.

Kofi Kingston vs. Alexander Rusev(w/ Lana Perry):  Lana introduces Rusev in notEnglish and gets the "What" treatment from the fans^H^H^HUniverse Members.  Byron asks Regal about Cesaro and Regal merely says that he was beaten by the better man.  Meanwhile, Rusev dominates the early minutes of the bout and delivers a fallaway Samoan Drop of sorts.  Kofi fights back into things, but only momentarily as Rusev mows him down.  Kofi avoids a big splash and starts the real rally...a dropkick and flying clothesline finally knock Rusev off his feet.  Trouble In Paradise is signalled but he comes up with a double-jump half-turn cross-body off the top rope...for two.  Kofi hits a pendulum kick and goes upstairs again, but Lana climbs the ring steps in that corner...that's enough of a distraction for Rusev to slam Kofi to the mat.  Accolade(camel clutch) is locked on...after several agonizing moments, Kingston taps out and Rusev gets a huge win.

Backstage, Devin Taylor interviews Sylvester Lefort...with Scott Dawson injured, he's looking for new clients.  He talks to Bull Dempsey but dismisses him in short order...then Mason Ryan steps into the picture.  Ryan stuffs the monetary offer in Lefort's mouth and calls him an idiot...think that's a "no".

Natalya Neidhart vs. Emma Tayla:  This is to determine the top contender to NXT Women's Champion Paige Knight...how many of these has Emma won, anyway?  The commentators do note that Emma IS technically the number-one contender and was offended that Nattie jumped ahead of her in line for a title shot.  YAY WRESTLING~! to start...Phillips notes that both women trained in Calgary(Nattie in the Dungeon, Emma by Lance Storm) but Regal points out that Natayla has a huge experience edge.  Dueling chants ensue as Nattie gets the better of the technical exchange for an early two-count but Emma gets an O'Connor Roll for her own near-fall.  Some taunting by Emma fires up Natalya but Emma slides from the apron into the ring for a sunset flip...for two.  Emma gets the DilEmma(Tarantula) and Phillips even drops Tajiri's name...Tom's doing his homework!  Blind charge hits turnbuckle and Nattie hits the discus lariat...for two.  Emma fights out of an abdominal stretch but ends up in a modified surfboard hold...it takes a lot for Emma to fight out of that.  Nattie misses a legdrop but double-legs Emma into a Sharpshooter attempt...only for Emma to small-package her for two.  Emma doesn't miss a beat and hangs onto the leg to transition into the Emmalock(inverted STF)...and she gets the tapout win!  Regal puts over the fact that Emma outwrestled a submission specialist...Nattie raises Emma's hand and they dance together afterwards...okay then.

Sing-Off, Colin Cassady vs. Aiden English:  Renee Young is your emcee.  Big Cass is in a suit and tie for the night; we're told he was a "subway performer" in Queens.  English goes first with some "opera Italiano".  Cassady warms up a bit and it turns out he can carry a tune fairly well...go figure.  He ends it by calling Aiden SAWFT...and the fan response seems to be in his favor.  English is miffed and demands an encore...why not?  He trashes the fans in his second song to cement the fan support against him...so Colin does a modified rendition of "My Girl" with the phrase "You Suck" instead.  English finally snaps and clips Cassady's knee...looks like the original fan decision stands, but Regal says he still loves Aiden.  Bwahahaha.

Mason Ryan vs. Tyler Breeze:  Tyler's winter residence is in Brazil, for those keeping score, and his phone cover matches his fur coat.  Breeze is hesitant to start this off...but Lefort shows up at ringside and Breeze goes on the attack when Ryan's attention is diverted.  Ryan returns fire with a Stungun and slides out of the ring to clothesline Lefort out of his shiny shirt, but re-enters and walks right into the Beauty Shot(spinning heel kick)...that'll do it.  Selfie time~!

Next week:  The Ascension(Konnor O'Brian & Rick Viktor) vs. Hunico & Donny Camacho in a tornado match for the NXT Tag Team Titles.

Sami Zayn vs. Leo Kruger, best-of-three-falls:  OLE~!  Kruger goes straight into attack mode and takes the fight to the floor in short order.  Riley says he's never been in this kind of match...I swear he had one with Tyler Reks in FCW but I guess that doesn't count.  Leo slams him on the floor as we note that a countout is good enough for a fall, but Kruger still tosses him back in the ring for a pin attempt.  Sami catches him out of nowhere with an exploder suplex into the turnbuckles(ouch)...corner boot HITS and that's good enough for the first fall!

We return to the action as Zayn fights for a superplex, but he get dumped all the way down to the floor...potential countout?  Zayn barely beats the count at nine...only to get DDTed by Leo for a near-fall.  Kruger tries to whip Sami but he hangs onto the ropes for all he's worth...Zayn finally gets enough of a breather to fight back.  Spinning Blue Thunder Bomb...gets two.  Zayn goes to the ropes but Leo slugs him out of a springboard attempt, then pulls him into a hanging neckbreaker!  Cover...for two-and-a-half!  Kruger goes for his GC3(London Dungeon) submission hold but Zayn gets to the ropes to escape.  Sami goes up the ropes again and gets cut off...superplex is blocked and Zayn goes for the cross-body...nothing but mat!  Leo gets the GC3 this time in the middle of the ring...will Zayn submit?  He nearly taps out but he barely gets to the bottom rope.  Kruger beats him down out of frustration...Sami tries to fend him off and runs into a spinebuster.  Leo throws off the shirt and lines up for the Slice lariat...but Zayn ducks and grabs him in a modified Flatliner!  He hooks him in a Koji Clutch out of that...and Kruger has nowhere to go but Tapout City!  Not often you see a best-of-three-falls match end in two straight, but there you have it...

TNA Impact

-Madison Rayne d. Women's Champion Gail Kim(w/ Lei'D Tapa)(non-title) by countering Eat-The-Feet into a foward-roll cradle.
-Chris Sabin(w/ Velvet Sky) d. Austin Aries to regain the X-Division Title; Velvet reluctantly distracted Aries and the referee, allowing Sabin to punt Aries in the groin and get the win with a small package.
-Samuel Shaw d. Norv Fernum with a standing side choke submission(thanks, Taz).
-Bobby Roode & James Storm d. Kurt Angle & Phil Gunner; Rockstar Spud had ordered Angle and Roode to find partners for a tag match.  Storm was upset when Angle chose Gunner, so he went to Roode for a one-night Beer Money reunion.  Gunner got Roode in the Gun Rack but Storm broke it up with the Last Call superkick, allowing Roode to finish Gunner with the Death Valley Driver.
-Ethan Carter III called out Jeff Hardy with the full knowledge that he wasn't there...that brought out Sting to challenge him to a real match.
-Joseph Park d. Bully Ray by DQ when Ray punted Park in the groin right away.  Ray doused Park with lighter fluid and threatened to set him on fire until Ken Anderson ran in to stop him.  Ray doused Anderson with the fluid as well and held him off with a lighter as he backed out of the ring.
-The show ended with the coronation of new Heavyweight Champion Brutus Magnus by Dixie Carter(w/ EC3 & Spud).  Phil Gunner wanted to cash in his Feast-Or-Fired briefcase but was beaten down by Magnus, EC3, and Spud...however, A.J. Styles jumped the guardrail and clearned the ring before confronting Magnus with his original title belt.
