CCW Special Comment

Now, as promised, a special comment about Saturday's Cape Championship Wrestling show at the A.C. Brase Arena in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

DISCLAIMER:  I'm biased.  Deal with it.

With nothing in the immediate area for the weekend, Ben Simon talked me into carpooling down to Cape for CCW.  It was my first time seeing this particular promotion, so there were a lot of unfamiliar faces and storylines (Ben did his best to fill me in on what he knew).  The venue was a familiar one; Gateway Championship Wrestling ran shows in the A.C. Brase Arena over a decade ago.  I can remember making the solo drive up and down the highway at the time...my car had such a small gas tank that I usually had to fill up on the way there AND on the way back home.  (And fillups only cost about ten dollars...)  On the way to the show, we stopped at the world-famous and Von Erich-endorsed Pizza Inn in Jackson, MO...good times.  It's tough to screw up pizza as a rule, though I tend to favor the meat-lovers variety to the veggie-lovers.  (That might explain my current physique and blood pressure...)

This particular show was notable as it was "Caged Chaos" with every match taking place in a steel cage.  Most of the matches could be won by pinfall/submission/escape (with the exception of the main event).  I've only seen a handful of cage matches in person...a WWF TV taping in 1995 had Diesel vs. Yokozuna in a cage as the main event (I think it appeared on a recent "Unreleased" DVD).  I recall the Ultimate Wrestling Alliance having a three-vs.-three-vs.-three cage match in Dupo once...it was as much of a cluster as you might think.  Most of the independent show cage matches I've seen took place in Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling...the first was Jeremy Lightfoot vs. Jeff Hawkins.  The others took place at a December show a few years ago with a triple main event of cage matches (Sean Vincent vs. Curtis Wylde, Gary Jackson vs. Attila Khan, and Kahagas vs. Ron Powers vs. Flash Flanagan).

I saw a few familiar faces in Cape, particularly "Evil" Jim Yount and Sadie Blade as they were visiting special guest Jerry Lynn.  Several Dynamo Pro trainees were in the house for Lynn's seminar, including rookies Tootie Lynn Ramsey and Ricky Rodriguez; young wrestlers should learn as much as possible and Lynn is a great person to teach some of those lessons.

The show started off with some local podcasters(one of whom was the ring announcer) giving out year-end awards to the wrestlers...woo.

Your ring announcer was Shannon Young; your referees were C-LO~! Banks, Lane Austin, & Kelly Blankenship.

The Pinnacle(Hollis Giroux & Roger Matheus)(w/ Jeff O'Dell & Bodyguard Courtney) vs. The L.A. Hustlers(Bradley Diggs & Lamont Potts) vs. Blaster & Aaron Clay vs. "The Big Mustache On Campus" Mikey McFinnegan & Marko Stunt, cage match:  The match had Wargames-style entries with two men starting and each new participant entering at...I'll just say "intervals".  I saw at least one pinfall attempted before everyone had entered the cage, though usually it's set up that you can't win the match until everyone is in.  Out of these people, I know Giroux, Mikey, and Marko.  I feel like I've seen Clay at some point in the past but it's escaping me; he competes for Kansas City Xtreme Wrestling(along with Giroux).  Matheus is a big dude who's a regular for Stride Pro Wrestling.  Blaster is a big masked dude who was VERY popular with the fans.  Thankfully the Hustlers were easy to keep straight as Bradley is decidedly bigger than Lamont.  I'd been told that O'Dell's associate was simply "Bad Boy" but the CCW website has him as Bodyguard Courtney.

At any rate, your entries were:  Lamont and McFinnegan, Clay, Giroux, Blaster (giving us a member of each team in the match), Blaster, Bradley, Matheus, and finally Stunt (who had apparently had a falling-out with McFinnegan at a previous show but was his mystery partner here).  Hope to see more of the other parties from this match in the future; it's tough to get a read on people in this kind of chaotic brawl.  I believe the Hustlers work out of Arkansas.  Stunt did his best to fly around the cage and not get caught by the larger opponents in the match, but Matheus finally caught up with him and pinned him after a sitout powerbomb in 19:25.  Post-match, McFinnegan and Stunt were all buddy-buddy and Mikey asked him(on one knee) to be his regular tag team partner once again.

"The" Ace Hawkins vs. Otis Crowley, cage match for the MWR Missouri Title:  The MWR belt hadn't been defended in a few months as Ace had been out of the area for a while.  Ace had been battling Otis and his brother Jacksyn for months, leading to this bout.  Jacksyn cut a promo on the big screen, telling his brother to go to work...and it was a misdirection play as Otis jumped Hawkins from behind on the floor.  That led to several minutes of one-sided brawling on the floor before the match made it into the ring and OFFICIALLY started.  Crowley had the size advantage and had things going his way when the Crowleys' music hit again, prompting the entrance of Jacksyn Crowley in his mask.  However, all was not as it seemed...Jacksyn motioned for his brother to escape the cage for the win, but then slammed the door on him.  "Jacksyn" removed the mask, revealing himself to actually be "Lights Out" Adrian Surge!  As Otis realized what was happening, Hawkins pounced from behind with his somersaulting Ace Crusher and edged out the win in 9:50.  The new alliance of Hawkins and Surge may be trouble for the CCW roster in the upcoming months...

"Sexy" Sarge O'Riley vs. Van "The Man" Van Horn(w/ Jeff O'Dell & Bodyguard Courtney):  Sexy Sarge is a heavy-set guy in tiny trunks who enters to the song "Pornstar Dancing".  Van Horn is a more conventional egotistical character who uses the Ravishing Rick Rude "Stripper" theme.  From what I understand, Sarge started off in CCW as a character the fans didn't like but eventually began to cheer.  The ring announcer encouraged Sarge to give referee C-Lo a lap dance and it was done...yup.  Neither man seemed able to score a clear advantage, but O'Dell threw in handcuffs and Van Horn was able to cuff Sarge to the ring ropes...this allowed him to easily walk out the door for the win(after a LOT of playing to the crowd) for the win in 12:14.  Once the Pinnacle members had taken their leave, Sarge said that he had initially promised to leave CCW if he lost, but he wanted One More Match(tm) with Van Horn...ANY kind of match!  (As it turned out, this would set up a hair vs. hair match for the February show.)

Li'l Bit vs. Diamond Doll(w/ Jeff O'Dell & Bodyguard Courtney) for the Women's Title:  I could have sworn the challenger was scheduled to be Hayley Shadows, but O'Dell said it was supposed to be Nikki Lane and she was unable to make it.  At any rate, he brought out the masked Doll as the replacement opponent...I'm unfamiliar with either lady, but I'm given to understand that Li'l Bit bears a striking resemblance to another female competitor known as Marni Gras.  Doll focused her attack on the leg of the champion, leaving her severely impaired in her attempts to fight back.  Despite Li'l Bit's best efforts, Doll scored a surprisingly convincing win with a Dominator in 11:16 to capture the title!  Doll sought to do post-match damage but Sarah Summers hit the ring to confront her...that title match will take place next month, as I assume Li'l Bit will need some time to heal before invoking her rematch clause.

Intermission~!  Official Ben Simon Concession Count(tm):  Can of root beer, chili cheese Fritos, bottle of water.

Brandon Espinosa vs. Osby Tomlin(w/ RVM):  Tomlin is a big guy who has been more of an authority figure in recent CCW times than an active wrestler; he was introduced as CCW General Manager.  Tomlin wrestled at SICW a while back(I wasn't there but saw the match on Wrestling Explosion).  Espy brought the Black Lantern-inspired facepaint and "RISE" gear for the occasion (previously used for his ladder match with Ace Hawkins at South Broadway).  Tomlin had a chance to escape, but instead went for an elbowdrop off the cage and missed...he appeared to be injured and a security guard entered the cage to check on him.  However, the "guard" revealed himself to new Tomlin ally Bishop Kage and he sneak-attacked Espinosa before planting him with a vertical suplex into a sitout uranagi(aka Matt Morgan's Hellevator).  That allowed Tomlin to escape at his leisure for the win in 15:37...I suspect this issue is far from settled.

Brandon Barbwire vs. Dell Tucker(w/ Jeff O'Dell & Bodyguard Courtney):  This was announced as a top-contenders' match; Barbwire is the former Heavyweight Champion and has been fighting to reclaim his title.  After a pretty good brawl, the two both attempted to escape...but both appeared to touch the floor at the same time in 12:52 (Barbwire over the top, Tucker out the door).  C-Lo was the official in the ring and the other two were on the floor...one outside ref said Barbwire landed first while the other said that Tucker stepped down first.  It came down to C-Lo's decision, but he said that he saw both men touch down at the same time.  Barbwire was NOT happy with the decision, saying he'd been given the runaround on his title rematch for months and it was happening again.  The ring announcer then told us that a twenty-man Rumble-style battle royal would take place at the February show and winner of that match would get a title shot later in the night.  Barbwire was unsatisfied with that decision, saying he had to win ANOTHER match to get his title shot...

"The Best Of The Best" Austin Lane vs. Justin "The Juice" Smart for the Heavyweight Title, special referee Jerry Lynn:  This was announced as a cage match under "ECW rules", which basically meant that you could not win by escape and weapon use was encouraged.  Chairs and a table came into play, primarily provided by Smart's ally Bishop Kage...but when Kage tried to interfere directly by climbing the cage, Lynn took matters into his own hands by physically knocking him down from the inside!  Lane gained control and set up Smart on the table, climbing the cage wall and diving off the top of the cage with a huge splash!  Smart incredibly kicked out of the pin attempt after that, but Lane quickly locked him in an STF and Smart was forced to tap in 8:30!

I had the opportunity to officially meet a few people after the show I hadn't encountered in person such as Austin Lane and Osby Tomlin...I also crossed paths with L.V.K., who has battled Adrian Surge all over the Midwest(he's a regular for KCXW as well).  A whole bunch of the wrestling crew went to Denny's after the show, which I'm sure the restaurant crew was SUPER happy about...*snicker*  I recall going to that Denny's back in the GCW days, oddly enough...I went with the blueberry pancakes with sausage and hash browns.  Woo.

Hey, I got this done before the weekend...go me.

February looks like this:
-Saturday 2/3: World League Wrestling in Troy, Missouri
-Saturday 2/10: World Powerhouse Wrestling in O'Fallon, IL

-Saturday 2/17: Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling in East Carondelet, IL
-Sunday 2/18: Glory Pro Wrestling in Edwardsville, IL

That's my special comment for this, the sixth wrestling show I've attended in the year 2018.  Good night, good luck, and #yaywrestling.

Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Title at WrestleMania XXXIIII!

#23 NXT Women's Champion Ember Moon
Naomi walked on the edge of the barricade to get back in the ring after being thrown to the floor, but Nia threw her straight to the floor.
#24 Beth Phoenix
Beth briefly joined forces with her old tag team partner Natalya, but Nattie double-crossed and eliminated her.
#25 Asuka Urai
Asuka and Ember renewed their rivalry...Ember hit the Eclipse(flying Stone Cold Stunner off the top rope), but Asuka managed to throw her out.
#26 Mickie James
#27 Nikki Bella
Nikki eliminated Carmella.
#28 Brie Bella
#29 Bayley Rose
#30 Trish Stratus
Trish eliminated old rival Mickie.  Everyone ganged up on Nia to get her out.  Sasha took advantage of the aftermath of that elimination to throw out Bayley.  Trish Chick-Kicked Natalya out of the match...she attempted a Stratusfaction bulldog on Sasha but Sasha threw her out.  Sasha copped an attitude against the remaining competitors and had Asuka cornered, but the Bellas teamed up on her to eliminate her.  The Bellas tried to work together against Asuka, but Nikki eliminated Brie out of nowhere.  Asuka and Nikki battled to the ring apron, but a last-ditch kick by Asuka sent Nikki to the floor to give Asuka the win!  Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss and Smackdown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair were at ringside and entered the ring, but before Asuka could make a choice, RONDA ROUSEY made a surprise appearance...she confronted all three women in the ring, then stopped by the broadcast table for an extremely tense and hesitant handshake with Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley.

DPW Special Comment

Now, as promised, a special comment about Saturday's Dynamo Pro Wrestling show at the Concordia Turners Gymnasium in St. Louis, Missouri.

DISCLAIMER:  I'm biased.  Deal with it.

The weather and temperature greatly improved this past weekend (though it seems to be cooling back down) and there was a great turnout for Dynamo's first show of the year.  It was comparable to NWL's attendance the previous night and maybe even a few more...always cool to see the local wrestling groups draw good crowds.  Attendance was said to be around two hundred...woo.

Your ring announcer was Chris Roedel, your referee was Martin Kattich, and your video commentators were Luke Roberts and Patrick Brandmeyer.

"The Gypsy Warrior" Orion Creed vs. Roy "The Strangler" Lewis:  I have to note that I appreciate Lewis' use of "Three Little Pigs" by Green Jelly for his theme music.  This was a rematch from December when Creed made his DPW debut with a win over Lewis, so The Strangler was looking for payback.  This time around Lewis was able to counter Creed's inverted neckbreaker/corkscrew Stunner finisher into his cobra clutch, but Creed kicked off the turnbuckles into a pinning combination for the win in 10:42.  Lewis snapped after the bell, delivering a cobra clutch Russian legsweep before taking Creed down with the hold...this feud MUST CONTINUE~!

"The Hybrid Ace" Jon Webb vs. The Snitch:  The masked man provided the commentary team with a statement which included the names of several of his signature moves...we did our best to include them in our play-by-play.  He also had an extended soliloquy for Chris Roedel to read, but thankfully Webb's theme music played before Chris could get too far into the five-page manifesto.  Snitch made a point to ground Webb, but the Hybrid Ace made the comeback and delivered a knee strike that left his opponent seeing stars.  Snitch acted like his jaw had been broken and he was checked on by the referee as well as Roedel and co-promoter Crystal Yount...but he was playing possum and took the opportunity to deliver a cheapshot on Webb.  Snitch locked on a dragon sleeper(which he called the Silent But Deadly), forcing Webb into unconsciousness and causing the referee to call for the bell in 13:05!  Snitch walked away with a huge upset win to start his year off right...

"The Caramel Bear" C.J. Shine vs. Brandon Espinosa, D-1 Title Tournament:  Previous champion "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin had forfeited the title...he had not appeared for Dynamo since beating Outtkast for the belt last February, only defending it once at a Pro Wrestling Resurgence show.  Six qualifying matches would be held to determine who would move on to a six-way ladder match to determine the new champion.  These two have crossed paths in the past, but Shine has been traveling and gaining experience...despite Espy's experience advantage, it was a very competitive contest.  Espinosa delivered a brainbuster out of nowhere to get the duke in 9:42...his previous experience in ladder matches should prove useful in the upcoming D-1 Title bout.

Savanna Stone & Tootie Lynn Ramsey vs. Rahne Victoria & Bra'Nae:  Bra'Nae was making her St. Louis-area debut; she has competed for New Breed Wrestling in Missouri as well as Kansas City Xtreme Wrestling.  (KCXW is a group I'm not very familiar with, but perhaps I need to change that).  Tootie made her pro debut last month against Savanna, but Rahne interjected herself and it became a triple threat match which Rahne won.  With Savanna and Tootie decidedly on the same side, Rahne went outside the greater St. Louis region to find an ally and even the sides.  One wouldn't have known that it was only Savanna and Rahne's second non-mixed tag match ever and Tootie's first.  The rulebreaking duo went on the attack before the match even began and the match was full throttle from there.  Both sides showed excellent teamwork, but Rahne & Bra'Nae worked together at a key moment near the end...as Tootie went for a tag, Bra'Nae pulled Savanna off the apron.  Rahne capitalized with a Rock Bottom on Tootie and got the pin with feet on the ropes(HEEL~!) in 9:34!

Mike Outlaw vs. Hollis Giroux, D-1 Title Tournament:  The debuting Giroux faced a man making his return to Dynamo Pro after a year away...Outlaw got a great response from the fans.  Giroux had appeared for the Mid-Missouri Wrestling Alliance a few times in the past year but this was his first time in a Dynamo ring...he took Outlaw to the limit, but the hometown crowd inspired Outlaw to keep on fighting.  Outlaw countered several attempts at the, ahem, "Giroux-Home Driver"(double-underhook faceplant, a la Angel's Wings) and hit the High Noon top-rope elbowdrop for the win in 12:48!

Intermission~!  Official Ben Simon Concession Count(tm):  Just water.  Oh, and Brandon Aarons had some cookies to celebrate his upcoming birthday...sweet.

The Agents Of Chaos(Viktor Von Stein & Xavier Shadowz) vs. Edvin Kudic & Ricky Rodriguez for the Tag Team Titles:  The Agents had been antagonizing Rodriguez on social media and graciously offered him a title shot with a partner of his choice, thinking it'd be an easy night...but Kudic has been an inspired competitor in recent weeks and has plenty of prior tag team experience with Matt Kenway.  The challengers utilized sound strategy:  Stay the HELL away from the 300-pound Von Stein and isolate Shadowz.  Even when Von Stein got into the action, the challengers used a lot of quick tags and showed great teamwork for a first-time duo.  Once the champions got their act together, they were able to utilize their own quick tags to turn the tide in their favor.  Things broke down near the end and the upstart challengers nearly pulled off the upset, but Shadowz speared Kudic out of nowhere for the win in 13:40.  Rodriguez wasn't off the hook either, as Shadowz dropped him to the mat with the elevated neckbreaker and Von Stein added the Legdrop O' Doom.

"The Master Of Hairflips" Brandon Aarons vs. "Lights Out" Adrian Surge, D-1 Title Tournament:  These two crossed paths several times in 2017; they split a pair of matches at last year's Cinco De Mayo show(with Surge winning the first by DQ and Aarons scoring the victory in the no-DQ rematch).  Surge defeated then-Heavyweight Champion Aarons in the finals of the Riot On The River Tournament.  The two were tag team partners in December and beat new titleholder Makaze and "The Heartthrob" Jaden Roller...but now the two fan favorites would have to face each other with only one advancing to the D-1 Title ladder match.  The two knew each other very well and were able to counter each other's signature moves...when Surge hit the spinebuster, Aarons had enough presence of mind to roll to the ropes to avoid defeat.  Aaron rallied and hit the double-stomp off the top rope, but only got a near-fall.  Aarons' close-range superkick and Hairflip Suplex(half-nelson suplex) only got two-count as well, so he had to pull out something new:  A double-underhook piledriver!  That was finally enough to put Surge down for the count in 11:44, sending Aarons to the D-1 finals!  He will join Brandon Espinosa and Mike Outlaw as well as three contenders to be determined at a future event...

"The Wind Of Destruction" Makaze vs. "The Valedictorian" Keon Option for the Heavyweight Title:  Option had a big entrance for his first main-event singles bout...meanwhile, Makaze seemed more focused on antagonizing Chris Roedel.  He "apologized" for his harsh words on social media and offered a gift as restitution...which turned out to be an (empty) gasoline can.  In response, Roedel showed off his fire extinguisher (given Makaze's recent compulsion for arson).  A chair came into play as the referee struggled to keep the match within the rules...Option set up Makaze on the chair, but a flying elbowdrop only hit metal as the champion moved out of the way.  Makaze targeted the arm after that(PSYCHOLOGY~! EXPERIENCE~! LOUD NOISES~!).  Option rallied, but Makaze turned the tide as the fight spilled out of the ring...the masked man grabbed a chair only to see the referee take it away from him.  However, it turned out to be a misdirection ploy as Makaze grabbed the nearby fire extinguisher and knocked out Option with it!  That was enough for Makaze to score the tainted pin in a brisk 7:07.

I hung out for a bit after the show and officially met Bra'Nae, as well as chatting with a few other people...Dynamo had a strong start to the year and the stage is set for coming attractions, especially the upcoming ladder match to determine a new D-1 Champion!

There's nothing immediately local this weekend...but there are Saturday shows if you're willing to make a longer drive.  There's Cape Championship Wrestling in Cape Girardeau, Missouri with an all-cage-match event, plus Jerry Lynn working as a special guest referee for one of the featured bouts.  There's Zero-One USA in Mattoon, Illinois with a last-man-standing match between X-Division Champion Jake Parnell and Gary Jay, plus Madison Rayne defending their Women's Title against former champion Randi West.  Finally there's Gateway Elite Wrestling in Crocker, Missouri with Jack Gamble vs. Brandon Aarons in a hair-vs.-hair match...WAIT WHAT.

-Saturday 2/24:  Pro Wrestling Championship Series in Alton, IL

That's my special comment for this, the fifth wrestling show I've attended in the year 2018.  Good night, good luck, and #yaywrestling.

Royal Rumble Dork Stats(WOO~!)

#1 & #2 Entrants:
1988: Bret Hart & Tito Santana
1989: Demolition Ax & Demolition Smash
1990: Ted DiBiase & Koko B. Ware
1991: Bret Hart & Dino Bravo
1992: Davey Boy Smith & Ted DiBiase
1993: Ric Flair & Bob Backlund
1994: Scott Steiner & Headshrinker Samu
1995: Shawn Michaels & Davey Boy Smith
1996: Triple H & Henry Godwinn
1997: Crush & Ahmed Johnson
1998: Cactus Jack & Terry Funk
1999: Steve Austin & Vince McMahon
2000: D-Lo Brown & Brian Christopher
2001: Jeff Hardy & Bull Buchanan
2002: Rikishi Phatu & Goldust
2003: Shawn Michaels & Chris Jericho
2004: Chris Benoit & Randy Orton
2005: Eddy Guerrero & Chris Benoit
2006: Triple H & Rey Misterio Jr.
2007: Ric Flair & Fit Finlay
2008: Undertaker & Shawn Michaels
2009: Rey Misterio Jr. & John Morrison
2010: Dolph Ziggler & Evan Bourne
2011: C.M. Punk & Daniel Bryan
2012: Mike Mizanin & Alex Riley
2013: Dolph Ziggler & Chris Jericho
2014: C.M. Punk & Seth Rollins
2015: Mike Mizanin & "R-Truth" Ron Killings
2016: Roman Reigns & Alexander Rusev
2017: “Big Cass” Colin Cassady & Chris Jericho

Some unlucky people in that list...Bret, Flair, Shawn, DiBiase, Benoit, Bulldog, HHH, Rey, Dolph, Punk, Miz, and Jericho. Some people were stuck at #1 by a heel authority figure or even requested the spot...it does give one an opportunity to shoot for an endurance record.  The 2016 Rumble started with the two people who ended the 2015 version of the match.

Final Entrants:
Junkyard Dog(#20), Ted DiBiase, Mr. Perfect, Tugboat, Warlord, Randy Savage, Adam Bomb, Crush, Duke Droese, Undertaker, Vader, Chyna, X-Pac, Rikishi Phatu, Booker T, Undertaker, Bill Goldberg, Ric Flair, Randy Orton, Undertaker, John Cena, Big Show, Batista, Kane(#40), Big Show, Ryback, Rey Misterio Jr., Dolph Ziggler, Triple H, Roman Reigns

Taker is the luck-of-the-draw winner, getting #30 on three occasions(and often drawing a late entry at other Rumbles). Despite the advantage of the slot, it wasn't until 2007 that the final entry actually won the Rumble...and then it happened two years in a row. Rey finally got a better draw after starting the Rumble twice in previous years...though the fans weren't too appreciative. After drawing #1 twice previously, Ziggler was due for better luck and got it in 2015.  Likewise, HHH had drawn #1 twice and his "luck" changed in 2016(though "executive influence" may have played a part in his draw).

Winners:
Hacksaw Jim Duggan(#13 of 20), Big John Studd(#27), Hulk Hogan(#25), Hulk Hogan(#24), Ric Flair(#3), Yokozuna(#27), Lex Luger(#23)/Bret Hart(#27), Shawn Michaels(#1), Shawn Michaels(#18), Steve Austin(#5), Steve Austin(#24), Vince McMahon(#2), The Rock(#24), Steve Austin(#27), Triple H(#22), Brock Lesnar(#29), Chris Benoit(#1), Batista(#28), Rey Misterio Jr.(#2), Undertaker(#30), John Cena(#30), Randy Orton(#8), Edge(#29), Alberto Del Rio(#38 of 40), Sheamus O'Shaunessy(#22), John Cena(#19), Batista(#28), Roman Reigns(#19), Triple H(#30), Randy Orton(#23)

The winner often seems to come from the early or late entries...the middle of the pack seems to be the actual kiss of death. The winner only came from that field on three occasions(depending on how you count Duggan). #27 is popularly noted as the most successful slot, producing the winner on four occasions. The short list of multi-time Rumble winners: Hulk, Shawn, Austin, Cena, Batista, and HHH. (Batista drew #28 both times he won.) The #30 slot has only produced the Rumble winner on three occasions.

Runners-Up:
One Man Gang(#19 of 20), Ted DiBiase(#30), Mr. Perfect(#30), Earthquake(#22), Sid Justice(#29), Randy Savage(#30), Luger(#23)/Bret(#27), Davey Boy Smith(#2), Diesel(#22), Bret Hart(#21), The Rock(#4), Steve Austin(#1), Big Show(#26), Kane(#6), Kurt Angle(#26), Undertaker(#30), Big Show(#24), John Cena(#25), Randy Orton(#30), Shawn Michaels(#23), Triple H(#29), Triple H(#7), John Cena(#19), Santino Marella(#37 of 40), Chris Jericho(#29), Ryback(#30), Roman Reigns(#15), Alexander Rusev(#15), Dean Ambrose(#19), Roman Reigns(#30)

#30 seems to be the prime spot for the bridesmaid...1995 was the first time the Rumble ended with #1 and #2(though it was the abbreviated one-minute interval version)...it happened again in the sports-entertainment-heavy 1999 Rumble. 2003 was the first time the Rumble ended with #29 and #30(it happened again in 2008). 2006 was the first time it ended with a guy who started the Rumble(Rey at #2) and the final entry(Randy at #30).  #19 produced the runner-up in last year's Rumble and also in the first Rumble(though that one had twenty participants).

Endurance Marks(source: www.prowrestlinghistory.com):
Bret Hart(25:42), Mr. Perfect(27:58), Ted DiBiase(44:47), Rick Martel(52:17)(honorable mention to Greg Valentine at 44:03), Ric Flair(59:26), Bob Backlund(61:10), Bam Bam Bigelow(30:12), Shawn Michaels/Davey Boy Smith(38:41), Triple H(48:01), Steve Austin(45:07), The Rock(51:32), Vince McMahon/Steve Austin(56:38), Test(26:17), Kane(53:46)(honorable mention to The Rock at 38:42), Steve Austin(26:46), Chris Jericho(38:54), Chris Benoit(61:30), Chris Benoit(47:26), Rey Misterio Jr.(62:12)(honorable mention to Triple H at 60:09), Edge(44:02), Triple H(49:51), John Cena(22:11), C.M. Punk(35:21), Mike Mizanin(45:39)(honorable mention to Cody Rhodes at 41:57), Dolph Ziggler(49:51), C.M. Punk(49:25)(honorable mention to Seth Rollins at 48:30), Bray Wyatt(46:58)(honorable mention to Alexander Rusev at 35:17), Roman Reigns(59:50)(honorable mention to Chris Jericho at 50:50), Chris Jericho(60:13)(honorable mention to Sami Zayn at 46:54)

These vary wildly depending on the time intervals...it was set at two minutes with the first Rumble(only 20 entrants), changed to one minute in 1995, then varied from 2 to 1:30 to 1:00 over the years. Rey is the current holder of the endurance record with Benoit coming in second.

Most Eliminations:
12(Roman Reigns in 2014), 11(Kane in 2001), 10(Steve Austin in 1997), 8(Shawn Michaels in 1995, Shawn in 1996, Austin in 1999), 7(Hulk Hogan in 1991, Yokozuna in 1993, Lex Luger in 1994, Diesel in 1994, Steve Austin in 1998, Rikishi in 2000, Austin in 2002, John Cena and C.M. Punk in 2011, Braun Strowman in 2017), 6(tie between Bray Wyatt, Alexander Rusev, and Roman Reigns in 2014)
