-Somewhere, sometime since the end of last season: A funeral was held for promoter Dario Cueto with a rather small turnout...just the suited man who shot him and his father Antonio(who looks a lot like his son). The agent claimed that "gangbangers" killed Dario and that Antonio had been granted full control of Lucha Underground...but due to the shooting, they couldn't use the original temple in Boyle Heights. According to Antonio, the sacred seal in the ring meant the temple could be anywhere he wished; he would use an old icehouse(only used for beer storage) for his purposes. Dario's dying phone call was to his father...and the agent confirmed that his father was the one who ordered the "hit" on him. Antonio took the key to Matanza Cueto's cell from Dario's neck and closed the casket before departing...
-A ten-bell salute was held for Dario, but Antonio made his debut in the new temple to interrupt. He declared it to be his temple and dumped the portrait of his son out of the ring. He said that a new Lucha Underground Champion would likely be crowned that night, saying that Pentagon Dark would defend his title in a match that HE(not his son) invented, Aztec Warfare! Trios Co-Champions Willie Mack and Killshot were brought to the ring...Antonio noted that Dante Fox seemed to be "missing in action" and the #3 entrant would take his place as their partner. They didn't seem too happy with this arrangement...
-Aztec Warfare For The Lucha Underground Title:
#1 Trios Champion Killshot
#2 Trios Champion Willie Mack
#3 New Trios Champion Son Of Havoc
#4 Joey Ryan, who handcuffed himself to the ropes to avoid elimination
#5 "Mr. Pec-Tacular" Jessie Godderz
Killshot rolled up Mack for a pin to eliminate him (2:48).
#6 Lucha Underground Champion Pentagon Dark
Ryan uncuffed himself to attack Pentagon but fell prey to the pumphandle Michinoku Driver (4:01 aired). Pentagon hit the package piledriver on Killshot and Havoc delivered the shooting star press on his new partner to pin him (4:35 aired).
#7 Tommy Dreamer
Pentagon superkicked and pinned Godderz (5:20 aired).
#8 Mariposa
Mariposa got in some shots with Dreamer's kendo stick, but Havoc neck-rebounded off the top rope into a Diamond Cutter to eliminate her (7:23 aired). Pentagon speared Dreamer backwards into thumbtacks on the bleachers, then brought him back into the ring for a top-rope double-stomp and pinned him (8:18 aired).
#9 Vinnie Massaro(who had a pizza delivered before his entry)
Pentagon quickly disposed of Massaro with a pumphandle driver onto the pizza (9:41 aired).
#10 Shawn Hernandez
Hernandez slapped Pentagon, who retaliated with a superkick before breaking his arm with the hammerlock/armbar combo...the pinfall was academic after that (10:49 aired). Pentagon took out his last remaining opponent Havoc with a backcracker (11:24 aired).
#11 Johnny Mundo
#12 Ricky Mundo(subbing for Angélico)(w/ creepy doll)
Ricky assisted Johnny, but then turned him him with a rollup attempt for two. Mundo disposed of his old lackey with the Moonlight Drive(somersault neckbreaker) (14:25 aired).
#13 Fenix
#14 Jeremiah Crane
#15 Mil Muertes(w/ Catrina Perez)
Mil dominated at first, but the other competitors ganged up on him and blitzed him with offense; Fenix eliminated him after a top-rope double-stomp to the back of a bent-over Mil (18:15 aired). Catrina was not happy with the quick elimination and walked out on her man.
#16 Daga(w/ Kobra Moon)
#17 Chavo Guerrero Jr.
Crane set his sights on Chavo, but forgot about Pentagon who took him out with the pumphandle driver (20:17 aired). Chavo surprised Fenix with a brainbuster to eliminate him (20:37 aired). Mundo took out Daga with the Fin Del Mundo(corkscrew split-legged moonsault) (21:23 aired).
#18 King Cuerno
#19 Dragon Azteca Jr.
Kobra Moon re-entered the scene with Vibora in tow, sending him after Mundo to get revenge for Daga's elimination...
#20 Marty "The Moth" Martinez
As Marty made his entrance, Vibora delivered a chokeslam and Tombstone on Mundo...the Reptile Tribe made its exit and Marty simply had to cover Mundo for the pinfall (24:44 aired). Chavo took out Azteca with a chair, but Cuerno stole his "kill" and eliminated Azteca with his own frog splash (25:47 aired). Cuerno set up Pentagon for the Thrill Of The Hunt(fireman's-carry Michinoku Driver) but Chavo kicked him in the groin from behind, then pinned him after the Gory Bomb (27:16 aired). Pentagon ended Chavo's night with a close-range superkick (27:43 aired). That left Pentagon and Martinez as the final two; Marty had some close calls, but Pentagon finally beat him with the package piledriver to retain his title (31:40 aired)!
-Pentagon was the first reigning champion to retain his title in Aztec Warfare...he wasn't done yet as he broke Marty's arm with the hammerlock/armbar combo. New promoter Antonio Cueto wasn't done for the night...he said that his son would probably force him into another title defense right away, but he considers himself a much better promoter. So next week, Pentagon will defend against his "only son" Matanza Cueto!
