WWE 205 Live was a clip show, but it was announced that Buddy Murphy would defend the Cruiserweight Title at the Royal Rumble in a four-corner match.  The challengers would be determined by upcoming qualifying matches:  Kalisto vs. "The Man Of The Hour" Lio Rush, Akira Tozawa vs. Drew Gulak, and Cedric Alexander vs. Hideo Itami.
