MECW Special Comment
Fun show with the two best matches being completely different styles...yay variety.
The show-opening talk segment went long to the point where Mr. K was apologizing for it afterwards...
The officiating has improved a ton compared to the previous few shows...good to see.
Aiden Young made a surprise debut for MECW and then won with a little bit of outside help. Slight referee hiccup as the official clearly saw McDarby come out, then turned back around to argue with Myranda(finally have her official name) so McDarby could KO Mizfitt.
Kharfu's growing on me. Could use some actual gear though. No clue who the mysterious masked monster(alliteration~!) was, but he has a bunny rabbit so we should cheer him.
The time announcement kinda gave away the draw finish, but Santel and Anthony are the two guys who can go long in a technical match like this. Anthony's powerbomb is good enough that it shouldn't just be a near-fall. Anthony's oddly respectful to opponents considering he's portrayed as a loose cannon(thus the shackles gimmick). Gosh darn it, these two will just have to wrestle again to settle things between them. WOO~!
Chaotic finish to the Great Plains Title matchup...it wasn't clear it Ryte even had a proper cover on Allen when Mr. K made the three-count. Here's a minor point of authority...who has the final say, the official assigned to the matchup or the guy running the place?
The tag title match had a really random ending as Anthony just started beating everyone up. He had a long night, wrestling the twenty-minute match earlier in the night and then working quite a bit of the tag match.
I joked that the main event gimmick was essentially a low-budget table match, especially since most of the door spots involved the doors being propped up on two chairs to form makeshift "tables". They had some killer spots for the "falls", particularly the curbstomp. Reno appeared to tweak his knee at one point when he slipped on a springboard move but he was able to continue the matchup and they worked with it.
CONTINUITY~! as Mr. K had brought up his previous history with Eric Allen, plus the Mannix-Allen feud resurfaces after being on the back burner for the better part of the past year. Unfortunately I missed the 30:00 Ironman Match last year but I hope to be in attendance for the sixty-minute version...we shall see.
AAPW ran a TV taping in Marion, IL on Sunday...didn't see any results and I don't know if I'll be able to see their program in my area(hope they put it online in some form). Reportedly Sinclair Broadcasting pulled ROH Heavyweight Champion Davey Richards from the show, presumably because it was a television taping.
Next week is Labor Day weekend so no local rasslin. September is a bit light on the shows in general so it looks like MMWA at South Broadway, SICW in East Carondelet, and then a doubleheader with MMWA running an afternoon show in Hillsdale followed by MECW that night.

Saturday MECW Results From Wood River, IL
Sinn Enterprises interrupted Mr. K at the start of the show...after Mike Anthony's altercation with a fan at the previous show, Mr. K demanded that Anthony be brought to the ring in shackles before his match later in the evening.
Aiden Young d. Mizfitt Manners(w/ Miranda); Miranda argued with the referee as Manners hit an Ace Crusher on Young, but Mauler McDarby knocked out Mizfitt with his hammer allowing Young to get the surprise win in his MECW debut.
Count Kharfu(w/ Sarin Sinn) d. Mauler McDarby; Miranda resurfaced at ringside and caused another distraction, allowing Mizfitt to blind McDarby by spitting water(?) in his face. That allowed Kharfu to get the win after a backcracker...the members of Sinn Enterprises continued their assault after the match, but a huge masked man(holding a stuffed rabbit?) entered the ring and double-chokeslammed Kharfu and Manners.
Shawn Santel wrestled Tag Team Champion Mike Anthony(w/ Sarin Sinn) to a 20-minute time-limit draw to retain the Independent Title in a total technical-style matchup. Mr. K ejected Sinn from ringside before the match began. The two shook hands after the match and Mr. K said he would set up a rematch at the next show(9/24).
Barry Ryte d. Great Plains Champion Eric Allen(w/ Lovely Leon Alexander) by DQ; Mr. K appointed himself special enforcer after Allen's cheap victory over Ryte at the previous show. Ryte had Allen cornered, but Allen delivered a mule kick that took out both Ryte and the referee. Ryte was able to recover enough to hit the Ryte Of Passage and Mr. K jumped in the ring to make a three-count, but the original referee called for Allen's disqualification due to the low blow. Mr. K said he would arrange a rematch for the 9/24 show in a best-of-three-falls contest...and hinted that he had another idea for said matchup that he would reveal at a later time.
Badd Company(Evan Money & Buddy Roberts Jr.) d. Tag Team Champions Mike Anthony & Sarin Sinn(w/ Mizfitt Manners, Count Kharfu, & Miranda) by DQ; the match degenerated into chaos as Anthony snapped, destroying both opponents and even decking his own partner at one point before blatantly bashing Money with a chair.
Bailey Mannix d. Justin Reno in a "Let's Make A Deal Match" to retain the Heavyweight Title; the rules stated that you could only win by putting your opponent through three of the five doors available in the matchup. Mannix got the first "fall by setting up Reno on a door set up across two chairs, then delivering a chairdrop from the second turnbuckle. Reno scored the second point with a brutal curbstomp to smash Mannix through a door propped up against the turnbuckles, then notched another point by suplexing Mannix through a door set up across two chairs. Mannix evened the score by dropping Reno through a door set up across two chairs with the Mannix Depression(his modified Death Valley Driver). The end came after the referee was accidentally knocked down by Mannix and the two wrestlers fought on the ring apron with a door set up across two chairs on the floor; Eric Allen(w/ Leon) ran into the ring and hit both men, sending them flying through the door. The referee recovered to see only Reno in the wreckage of the final door and awarded the victory to Mannix.
After the match, Allen accused Mannix of ducking him since their clashes over the Heavyweight Title last year. Allen claimed that Mannix never truly defeated him in their thirty-minute Ironman Match and he never verbally submitted in their I Quit Match...so he issued a challenge for the anniversary show in November for a SIXTY-minute Ironman Match!

Comedy Part 387: Write-In Comedian
Location: Comedy Etc. II
Emcee: Dan Schmidt
After: Robert Friday
Before: Dominic Cilano
Fortunately, I was written into the show after not having made the original list. Pretty good crowd as this week is an SIUE promotion(half price admission with SIUE ID!). Did quite a few new jokes...hate to look at notes while on stage, but it's tough to work in new jokes unless they really fit into the overall flow of the set. Am trying to rework one particular joke since I heard someone do something similar at the Funny Bone last night...I think I can fit one particular part into a different premise and still use it. At any rate, busy comedy weekend ahead...Mike Pace at Comedy Etc., John Roy at the Funny Bone, J.C. Sibala's birthday show on Friday night. Woo.

WWE NXT5.com
Darren Young interrupted Matt Striker's opening spiel and eventually attacked him, bringing S. William Regal out of the broadcast booth to run him off.
Oh, your hosts are Todd Grisham and Regal.
Trent Baretta vs. Tyson Kidd: One of these guys might just win a match! YAY WRESTLING~! We're still in Canada so the crowd is decidedly pro-Kidd. Kidd misses an inside-out slingshot legdrop and Trent delivers a corkscrew Asai moonsault to the floor that doesn't leave either guy in good shape. Kidd fights out of a superplex to deliver a top-rope Frankensteiner...but Baretta rolls through into a sunset flip attempt only for Kidd to roll through THAT into a Sharpshooter attempt. Baretta counters THAT into a victory roll for a close two-count. Mutual clotheslines leave both men down and give us a chance to catch our collective breath. Strike exchange ends in a Gobstopper Knee...for two. Dudebuster DDT is blocked and Kidd gets the Canadian Mapleleaf but Trent barely makes it to the ropes. Suddenly the MYSTERIOUS~! Japanese music starts and the kanji appears on the Titantron...the distraction is enough for Baretta to recover and hit the Dudebuster DDT for the upset win!
A.J. Lee(w/ Hornswoggle) vs. Maxine Perez(w/ Derrick Bateman): Regal brings up the fact that Grisham is taking his leave from WWE to join ESPN...good luck to him, he can hang out with Jonathan Coachman. Maxine keeps it simple with general heel tactics, which is probably for the best. A.J. gains some momentum and Bateman goes after Hornswoggle as a distraction, allowing Maxine to get the cheap rollup pin. Titus O'Neil hits the ring just in the nick of too late...

WWE Raw
-WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio(w/ Ricardo Rodriguez) d. John Morrison(n/t) with the cross-armbreaker takedown.
-Eve Torres(w/ Women's Champion Kelly K) d. Nikki Bella(w/ Brie) via snap neckbreaker. Kelly delivered the K-2 on Brie after the match; Beth Phoenix & Natalya Neidhart came out to observe after the match.
-Alex Riley d. Jack Swagger(w/ Vickie Guerrero) via rollup when Swagger was distracted by an argument between Vickie and U.S. Champion Dolph Ziggler outside the ring.
-Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne d. The New Nexus to win the Tag Team Titles; Kofi hit Trouble In Paradise from the apron on David Otunga, allowing Bourne to get the win with the shooting star press. HEY, Matt's a WWE titleholder...who'da thunk it? WOO~!
-Santino Marella's match never happened as he was attacked by Mike Mizanin & "R-Truth" Ron Killings. They have a combined catchphrase now, be afraid.
-John Cena d. C.M. Punk after the second F-U of the match when Punk was distracted by Kevin Nash's presence. WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio and Johnny Ace were both at ringside for the match, which decided Alberto's challenger for Night Of Champions. Nash's presence was notable because Ace had told COO Triple H earlier in the night that Nash had been in a car accident and H left the building to check on him...hmm... Anywho, Alberto attacked Cena after the match, upset that he had been dismissed as the "third wheel" in the whole situation...

NWA Anarchy TV #290
Your hosts are Tim E.D. & John Johnson.
C.B. Gibson & Tommy Daniels vs. The Hate Junkies(w/ Dan Wilson): Gibson pulls out a nice reversal, turning a tilt-a-whirl slam attempt by Stryknyn into a mid-air inverted DDT. However, Dany Only boots Gibson off the apron to prevent a tag. The Hate Junkies finish off Gibson with the Hate Crime(assisted superbomb), then Only dishes out a severe beating on Daniels to prevent any attempt at a save before covering for the three-count.
Billy Buck vs. Bo Newsom vs. Aden Chambers, three-way dance: Johnson elects to remain at the broadcast table while his protege Chambers is competing. Buck clears the ring and the heels don't seem to be on the same page(only one can win!). Buck monkeyflips Newsom toward Chambers and Bo manages to somehow deliver a mid-air rana on Aden. Buck nearly wins with a German suplex on Chambers but Newsom breaks up the pin with a frog splash...and covers Buck for a near-fall. Newsom nearly superplexes Buck but Chambers cuts it off and sunset-bombs Bo to trigger the Tower Of Doom spot. The action continues with little downtime(YAY WRESTLING~!)...Buck superkicks Chambers, leaving him one-on-one with Newsom...Buck takes him down into the Sharpshooter and pulls him to the center of the ring, but Chambers springboards into the ring to deliver a double-underhook piledriver on Buck! That's enough for Chambers to pin Buck...oh, it's an elimination-style match.
Newsom gains an advantage and goes to the top rope, but delivers a flying chindrop to Chambers' boot...and Aden wraps up Bo in his own SMALL PACKAGE~! to get the three-count and win.
General Manager J.T. Talent comes out to address the T.V. Title situation...Jeff Lewis won the title last week, but the match was seemingly restarted. Lewis punched out the ref and BELTed Brodie Ray Chase before walking out with the belt...but if the match WAS restarted, you'd think that would mean the title-changing pin was null and void and Chase would remain the titleholder since the restart had a non-finish. Talent calls out Lewis...he declares that the championship controversy will be settled in the next match.
Brodie Ray Chase vs. Jeff Lewis vs. Steven Walters for the T.V. Title: Not quite clear who the incumbent champion is(Chase or Lewis), but I guess it doesn't matter in this sort of match since there's no championship advantage and one fall wins it. Lewis ducks out of the ring but gets double-teamed by the faces...this may be a long night for him. Jeff does his best to stay out of the line of fire and pick his spots while Chase and Walters do battle...Chase plants Lewis with the double-underhook DDT and THE STRAPS COME DOWN. However, Walters climbs the turnbuckles and delivers a missile dropkick on Chase, splashing down on Lewis in the same motion! Walters has the cover on Lewis, the ref counts three, and Steven Walters is your NEWWWWW NWA Anarchy Television Champion! Chase is in shock but does shake the hand of the new champ as Lewis agonizes outside the ring...

SICW Special Comment
If you're wondering about the MMWA/SICW situation, I think Missouri Wrestling Revival has you covered...I'll leave it at that.
A few surprises on the card(Brian Breaker, Jack Gamble, the returns of Sir Bradley Charles and Ryan Drago)...though one of the two feature matches was nowhere to be found(Gary Jackson vs. Mark Sterling). Didn't see either of them all night and no announcement was made; hopefully they can reschedule that.
Max Archer worked heel because he wore sunglasses to the ring. It's science. *nod*
Forgot about the over-the-top-rope DQ rule at first.
Hey, if Dave Vaughn is gonna be billed as "The Wrestling Machine", it's probably good for him to have a submission finisher. With all due respect, the MIC SKILLZ(tm) could use some work but practice makes perfect.
Saw that Drago has been teaming with Brett Young out in the Kansas City area as the "Mustache Mafia"...they need to hook up with Marion Fontaine and enter King Of Trios at this point. Eli Cottonwood could be their bodyguard.
Sucked to see Courageous get hurt early in his matchup...they wanted to keep going but he just couldn't work through it. Better to fight another day than risk further injury sometimes.
The elimination tag did surprise me as I was expecting Vincent to be out first...but I guess it worked better this way as it put Hargas in a two-on-one situation so he could overcome the odds. It also set up a future Powers-Hargas matchup...the impromptu "match" last night did have an opening bell, but they quickly brawled to the back with the referee, Chaz, and Vincent following so I guess you could just call it a no-contest.
With IHW, Dynamo, and SLA not running again until early October, September looks a bit sparse as far as wrestling shows go. Basically it'll be MMWA, SICW, and presumably MECW(which is on my itinerary for next week).

-Chase King d. Max Archer via rollup.
-Dan Walsh fought Eric Allen to a time-limit draw.
-Brian Breaker d. Waco(w/ The Big Texan) by DQ when Waco threw Breaker over the top rope. Texan was ejected early in the matchup for attempting to interfere. Breaker dropped Waco with a huge running powerslam after the match.
-Dave Vaughn d. Ryan Drago with the sleeperhold.
-Jack Gamble d. Johnny Courageous via ref stoppage; Courageous appeared to tweak his knee as he hit the ropes at one point...he wanted to continue wrestling but had trouble even standing and the ref finally called for the bell.
-Dave Vaughn was interviewed and said he had his sights set on the Classic Championship...Max Archer attempted to engineer his own promo time but was blown off by the ring announcer.
-The Big Texan d. Sir Bradley Charles via chokeslam.
-LaMarcus Clinton d. Bobby D with the Macho Elbow.
-Chaz Wesson & Chris Hargas d. Classic Champion Ron Powers & Sean Vincent in an elimination tag match. Shockingly Wesson was the first man eliminated when Powers snapped his throat off the top rope, then gave Vincent some illegal leverage on his pin cover. Hargas got a surprise win over Powers with a cross-bodyblock off the second rope, causing Powers to accidentally fall backwards over his own partner Vincent in the landing. Vincent was shocked to be left alone in the matchup and quickly fell prey to the F-5 to give Hargas the victory. Powers teased giving Hargas an impromptu match, but I don't know if it was official or not as they quickly brawled back to the dression room(there WAS an opening bell, so I don't know if it was just a quickie no-contest or what).

FCW TV 8/7
Your hosts are Matt Martlaro & S. William Regal.
Richie Steamboat vs. Percy Watson vs. Brad Maddox: Regal notes that Maddox is on his list of people whose faces he would never get fed up with punching...heh. Lots of rollups in the early going...got to catch a quick fall in this kind of match with a third party involved to break up pin attempts. The match boils down to Steamboat and Maddox with Percy down on the outside...Watson finally re-enters the fray to rally against Maddox. Percy baseball-slides Steamboat off the apron but misses the move on Maddox, causing him to land badly on the floor. Steamboat attempts to re-enter with a sunset flip but Brad blocks and holds the rope for the surprise(albeit cheap) victory!
Titus O'Neil vs. Erick Rowan & James Bronson(w/ Byron Saxton), Very Special Handicap Match(tm): Even General Manager Norman Smiley is fed up with the handicap matches, thankfully...
Titus O'Neil & Roman Leakee vs. Erick Rowan & James Bronson(w/ Byron Saxton): Not quite sure how the handicap match came about as even Norman didn't know how Saxton engineered it. A cheapshot from Rowan allows Bronson to take out Leakee with an STO, putting his team in control. Regal refers to the Rowan/Bronson team as a throwback duo...good way to describe them. Leakee comes back but Bronson reverses a whip into the corner, only to be met with a huge jumping knee strike...Leakee then vaults over Bronson into a unique rollup for the win out of nowhere! The heels immediately go on the post-match attack as Rowan chokeslams Leakee, then Bronson locks O'Neil in his modified short-arm scissors as Byron yells right in his face. The good guys won the battle, but the heels seem to have won the war on this night.
DeSean Bishop vs. Leo Kruger: I'd pick the guy who cut the promo on the champion last week...just saying. Bishop's got a size and power advantage, but gets too fancy and Kruger takes advantage with a legsweep from the floor as Bishop is on the apron. Kruger controls with a cravate hold, leading to a funny exchange between the commentators as Regal wonders if Martlaro will steal the call from him and Martlaro joking that it's one of the few holds he can name. Kruger delivers a flying gutdrop to Bishop's fist, but the momentum shift is short-lived as a corner splash hits turnbuckles. Kruger delivers a Flying Jalapeno and ends it with the Final Destination(swinging fisherman buster). We get a brief glimpse of Ricardo Rodriguez watching the match from ringside...hmm.
Briley Pierce still works here and he interviews FCW 15 Champion Seth Rollins. Pierce brings up Dean Ambrose...Seth says that his focus is on the championship right now. That brings out Ambrose to glare at the champion before leaving without a word...
Kaitlyn Bonin, A.J. Lee, & Caylee Turner vs. Sonia Yung, Audrey Marie, & Raquel Diaz: For the uninformed, Caylee is Christina Crawford(Alicia Fox's sister)...she made the jump from FCW to Tough Enough and now back to FCW. This will be my first look at Raquel(daughter of Eddy & Vickie Guerrero) in official competition. Caylee and Raquel start...Martlaro notes that Raquel hopes to do the Guerrero name proud and Regal jokes about why she's going by "Diaz" if that's the case...heh. Nice Northern Lights suplex by Turner(two-count), then tags are made to A.J. and Sonia. A quick cheapshot by Raquel puts A.J. at a disadvantage(CHEAT TO WIN~!), then Marie traps her in a bow-and-arrow hold. Ricardo returns to ringside, presumably for scouting purposes...or maybe he's just taking pictures. An ill-fated charge by Sonia lands her outside the ring...tag to Audrey, tag to Kaitlyn! Kaitlyn fumbles a bit on a sideslam, but she goes on to win with a backslide as her partners cut off Sonia and Raquel.
Bo Rotundo vs. Damien Sandow for the Heavyweight Title: Maxine Perez joins the broadcast table, severely flustering Regal. Bo hits the ring and cuts off an immediate assault by Sandow as the opening bell rings. The fight travels to the floor, but Sandow rams Rotundo backwards into the ring steps...ow. Back into the ring for a cover...and a two-count. Sandow maintains control, including feet on the ropes during a chinlock(HEEL~!). Martlaro does his best to call the match...meanwhile Regal and Maxine are sweet-talking each other. Blind charge hits turnbuckles, but Sandow cuts off Bo's attempted comeback with a swinging neckbreaker and throws him to the floor. Bo eats ringpost and Sandow gets a close look at the belt before they re-enter the ring.
Sandow finally makes the mistake of going to the turnbuckles and Rotundo cuts him off, delivering the superplex(WINDHAM~!). Cover...gets two. Corner clothesline hits, bulldog(Bo-dog?) is blocked once but not twice...two-count. Sandow tries to bail out of the ring to avoid a spear attempt, then forearms Rotundo when he attempts pursuit. Sandow pulls out the brass knuckles right in front of the referee(shades of Regal?)...the official confiscates the international object but that allows Sandow to thumb Rotundo in the eye before delivering a snap neckbreaker...for two! Another cover...for two. Again...for two. AGAIN...for two. Sandow argues with the referee and that costs him as he gets caught in an O'Connor Roll...for two. More ref arguing and this time Sandow takes a swing at the ref, missing wildly...and he turns around right into the spear from Rotundo! That's the ballgame and Bo retains the Heavyweight Title!
Next week: Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose for the FCW 15 Title! So long from the Sunshine State!
Richie Steamboat vs. Percy Watson vs. Brad Maddox: Regal notes that Maddox is on his list of people whose faces he would never get fed up with punching...heh.
FCW TV 7/31
Your hosts are Matt Martlaro & S. William Regal.
Seth Rollins vs. Rick Victor for the FCW 15 Title: Haven't seen much of Victor yet...notably, he has Kaval's old FCW theme music. Martlaro notes that Rollins has held the championship for about six months, which is an impressive title reign in this age of crash TV. Regal poses the question of how Rollins would fare against himself(a former WCW T.V. Champion)...would like to see that one, actually. The two trade quick pin attempts in the opening minute, exchanging multiple two-counts in a short period of time. Victor cuts off Seth's offensive with a Stungun and slows the pace a bit...Martlaro brings up that Victor was one of the last graduates from the Hart Dungeon, Tyson Kidd being the last. Seth rallies and hits a turnbuckle Flatliner, then follows up with a running curbstomp on a bent-over Victor for the first fall at around the four-minute mark.
Victor uses the referee as a shield as Rollins goes to the second rope, then clotheslines Seth hard to the floor...Rollins barely beats the count back into the ring, but is met with a huge running European uppercut in the corner and Victor gets the surprise three-count to even the score at around the five-and-a-half-minute mark.
Victor maintains control, but he needs to score another fall to win as a tie goes to the champion. Martlaro keeps questioning Regal about his other matters(specifically Maxine Perez), wondering if Regal's off his game for that reason. Seth fights out of a modified chinlock and nails a jumping enzuigiri, then fires off another one from the ring apron and follows with the springboard clothesline. We get a shot of Dean Ambrose watching the match intently, as he's been challenging Rollins for the past month or so. Somersault plancha by Rollins! Advanced Curbstomp misses this time but Seth hits an Asai moonsault...for two. Ten-minute mark arrives and the score is still tied...Victor cuts off Rollins on the turnbuckles but the superplex is averted and Seth can't quite get a sunset bomb from the ropes. MOMENTUM SWINGS~! ensue and Victor escapes the turnbuckle powerbomb but the running European uppercut in the corner misses this time. Victor tries for a catapult but Rollins counters into a victory roll out of nowhere at around the twelve-minute mark!
The score is 2-1 and the champion has the lead as the match devolves into a slugfest...Victor delivers a Blue Thunder Bomb into a backbreaker out of nowhere...for two! Two-minute warning...Victor yells at Seth to STAY DOWN and delivers a huge flying European uppercut...for two! Should have done the move in the corner, dude. Another cover...for two. One minute to go. Seth tries for another victory roll off the shoulders but Victor crotches him on the top rope. Second rope...flying European uppercut with Seth straddles on the ropes! Cover...Seth gets a foot on the ropes! Thirty seconds to go...cover again and Seth gets a HAND on the bottom rope. Victor pulls him away from the ropes and covers...for two-and-a-half! The time limit expires and Seth gets the win with a score of 2-1...but Victor had an impressive showing to say the least.
Briley Pierce still works here and he interviews Leo Kruger. Leo calls out Heavyweight Champion Bo Rotundo and vows to be the "dreamslayer"...
Earlier today in President Steve Keirn's office: Keirn met with General Manager Norman Smiley as well as former G.M. Maxine Perez(w/ Regal). Some sort of "charges" were dismissed but Norman's still in charge. Regal vouches for Maxine, but Keirn comments on certain footage they have of Regal & Maxine and Regal suddenly backs off...
Queen Aksana Raudoniene vs. Naomi Night for the Women's Title: Aksana has switched to dark hair, as seen recently on Smackdown. She comes out without the belt or the crown and simply says that the match isn't happening before walking away. Say what? G.M. Norman Smiley makes his entrance and Naomi will have a match tonight...
Naomi Night vs. Sonia Yung(w/ Audrey Marie): Regal is suddenly quite complimentary toward Norman...heh. Naomi's got a different hairstyle as well, it should be noted. This is my first look at Sonia in singles competition...she makes a good accounting for herself against the former champion and NXT competitor. Sonia whiffs on a suplex and Naomi finishes with the Nightmare leg lariat.
Briley Pierce still works here and he interviews Heavyweight Champion Bo Rotundo. Damien Sandow has been claiming that he's the rightful champion after his visual fall in a previous matchup. Rotundo has no problem granting Sandow another title shot if Damien wants to prove he's the true titleholder...
Kenneth Cameron vs. Erick Rowan(w/ Byron Saxton & James Bronson): Byron's arm is still in a sling as a result of his previous encounter with Titus O'Neil...of course Saxton enlightens us. Cameron is one of many British imports to FCW in recent months...Regal mentions Robbie Brookside as one of Cameron's trainers. Rowan overpowers him in short order...Cameron gets a short-lived advantage by clipping the leg but a suplex attempt goes very, very badly. Cameron is welcomed to Chokeslam City shortly thereafter and that's the ballgame. Bronson adds a post-match short-arm scissors and that brings out Titus O'Neil to run off the heels. O'Neil gets in a few shots on Rowan before he escapes the ring...but the issue is not over, of course.
Husky Harris vs. Lucky Cannon: Cannon is the former Heavyweight Champion...but not long after losing the title, he was upset by Husky(who happens to be the new champ's brother). Lucky is dealing with someone who has no qualms with fighting dirty, but Cannon clips the leg to get an edge. They're also speculating that Husky was the one that shoved Cannon in the ice machine a few weeks back...and we're told that Harris isn't exactly denying it. Heh. Wave Of The Future is blocked and Lucky gets a rollup with a handful of tights...for two. Husky hits the uranagi and Lucky rolls to the corner for safety...blind charge nearly hits turnbuckles but Husky turns around and the two bump heads. Lucky complains to the ref...providing enough distraction for Damien Sandow to run out and hit Husky with a chair! That brings out Bo but he runs into another chair strike from Sandow...the damage has been done and Cannon gets the cheap three-count after IT'S THE BIG FOOT.
Next week: Bo Rotundo vs. Damien Sandow for the Heavyweight Title. So long from the Sunshine State!

Comedy Part 386: Being Their Guest
Location: Comedy Etc. II
Emcee: Dan Schmidt
Feature: Brian Sawin
Headliner: Brad Tassell
Hadn't had a weekend guest set in a while...good to get one. Kind of a tough crowd, but it was still an improvement over Wednesday night and I felt like I did a good job. Should have dressed better for the set rather than going in just jeans and a T-shirt, as was pointed out to me. Been trying to pay more attention to the emcee sets at the shows so I can learn what I've been doing wrong in that regard...need to take notes as my memory has been Swiss cheese lately. :P

TNA XPlosion
Your hosts are Jeremy Borash & Taz.
Alex Shelley vs. Douglas Williams(w/ Brutus Magnus), XPlosion Championship Challenge Tournament: Magnus has a bye to the finals, so he faces the winner of this matchup...and he joins the broadcast team for the night. YAY WRESTLING~! and all that. Borash asks Magnus which title he would target if he wins the tournament...after some dancing around the issue, he says the Tag Team Titles(which would work out well if we get an all-British Invasion final since they both get a title shot in that case). Magnus notes that he wrestled Williams in one of his earliest matches, so they have met in the ring before. Williams gains the edge in a strike exchange, ending in a gutwrench suplex...for two. Chaos Theory is attempted but Shelley counters into a bodyscissors cradle...for two, and Williams goes straight into a modified surfboard out of that! @LX won't surrender and Williams releases the hold...then he escapes a Sliced Bread #2 attempt and connects with a suicide dive! Back in the ring, Williams goes to the top rope but Shelley cuts him off with a jumping enzuigiri. Williams fights out of a superplex and hits a kneedrop off the top(!)...for two. Chaos Theory is blocked, so is Sliced Bread #2, but @LX hits a back kick to the gut and finally hits SB#2 for the hard-fought victory...the tournament final will be Alex Shelley vs. Brutus Magnus...Magnus is surprisingly unfazed by his partner's loss, simply saying he'll see Shelley in the finals.
WWE Superstars.com
Your hosts are Jack Korpela, Matt Striker, Josh Mathews, & Scott Stanford.
Trent Baretta vs. Wade Barrett: Wade pulls out some moves we haven't seen out of him before, including a nice dropkick. A missed boot on the floor allows Trent to hit a Whisper In The Wind off the barricade...ow. Baretta escapes Wasteland, Wade blocks the Dudebuster DDT, then Wade blocks a rana and heaves him straight up into a second attempt at Wasteland and hits it on this try for the victory.
Brodus Clay vs. Jose Vargas: Confusing...Brodus was on the Smackdown portion of Superstars two weeks ago, the Raw side last week, and now back on the SD half. Whatever the brand, squash is still in season...avalanche and Fall Of Humanity(big-guy cross-body of death) end it in short order.
Santino Marella vs. Primo Colon: Welcome to the bottom of the totem pole. Santino wins with the Cobra in short order despite Primo's efforts to target the arm used to deliver said devastating finisher(*snicker*).
Zack Ryder vs. Drew McIntyre: Zack's made quite a name for himself lately, including a recent upset win over The Chosen One on this very program. The fight quickly spills out of the ring and Drew gains control after a spinebuster into the side of the ring(OW). Ryder shows that Drew's not the only one who can use the ring to his advantage, snapping Drew's throat off the top rope and whipping him hard into the ringpost. Ryder stomps a mudhole in the corner, culminating in the Broski Boot...that gets two. Rough Ryder is countered into a Demon Bomb...for two! Strike exchange ends in a big boot from McIntyre...for two. Future Shock is blocked and Drew attempts a gutwrench suplex, but Zack flips up and over and hits the ropes to land the Rough Ryder for the win!
TNA Impact
Brother Devon vs. Scott Steiner, Bound For Glory Series: Steiner wins with a Flair Pin(appropriately) out of nowhere...Samoa Joe attacks Devon after the match. Devon's sons enter the ring to confront Joe but "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero runs in to ensure nothing bad happens to them and Joe backs off.
X-Division Gauntlet: Mark Haskins d. Alex Shelley with a half-nelson knee strike(Painkiller, sayeth Wikipedia). Haskins d. Robbie Eckos(w/ Cookie Bayless) via rollup. Shiima Xion d. Haskins via 450 Splash. Jesse Sorensen d. Xion with an inverted swinging neckbreaker. Sorensen d. Anthony Nese with the inverted swinging neckbreaker. Sorensen d. Kid Kash by countering a Moneymaker attempt into a rana pin. Austin Aries d. Sorensen via brainbuster...Aries didn't have to do much as Kash planted Sorensen with the Moneymaker after losing his fall of the gauntlet. X-Division Champion Brian Kendrick confronted Aries after the match...Aries walked away from Kendrick's offered handshake, so Kendrick attacked him and they brawled until referees separated the two.
Mickie James d. O.D.B.(w/ Jacquelyn Moore) with the jumping DDT. The story is that O.D.B. and Jacquelyn are under "probation" to earn contracts if they behave themselves, so they're not supposed to cheat.
Rob Van Dam vs. A.J. Styles, Bound For Glory Series: Jerry Lynn was seated in the front row and complained to the referee about a pin count after RVD hit Rolling Thunder. Styles made the comeback and raised the knees to block the five-star frog splash, then eventually hit the Pele Kick...but Lynn pulled the ref out to complain about the count, causing Styles to win by DQ and RVD to lose more points in the BFG Series.
Mexican America(w/ Sarita Stock & Rosita Fly) d. Beer Money Inc. to win the Tag Team Titles; Jeff Jarrett and Karen Angle-Jarrett did commentary. Rosita ran interference which brought the Jarretts into the picture...Shawn Hernandez ended up pinning Robert Roode after knocking him out with Jarrett's Mexican Title belt(did he win it from Konnan?).

Your hosts are Todd Grisham & S. William Regal, your emcee is Matt Striker.
We start off with Titus O'Neil, A.J. Lee, and Hornswoggle...but the mini-soap opera(so to speak) is interrupted by Derrick Bateman. Cue the war of words...Hornswoggle and O'Neil leave the ring to run off Bateman but Maxine Perez returns to attack A.J. from behind. The plot thickens...
J.T.G. vs. Tyson Kidd: So who's the face in this matchup? With J.T.G.'s most recent rival having bid adieu, he decides to be the face for the night...Kidd's still got his own issue with Yoshi Tatsu. The commentators push Kidd's impressive in-ring performances in recent weeks...hope that means SOMETHING for him. Kidd gets a modified Canadian Mapleleaf out of nowhere for the surprise tapout...but Kidd's music is interrupted by some foreboding music and a Japanese kanji symbol on the Titantron. I suspect Yoshi may be coming back for revenge very soon...
Matt Striker vs. Darren Young: Striker sets this up with a pretty good pre-match promo...and he wastes no time in taking the fight to Young once the bell rings. Young bails out of the ring and Striker kicks his hand into the ring steps, then delivers a hand DDT(!) in the ring and rolls into a Fujiwara armbar...nice. Young reverses into a pin attempt(two-count) and then cuts off Striker with a clothesline. Striker fights out of a Rude Awakening on the apron only to take a back suplex onto the edge of the ring. Young controls, but Striker nicely blocks a slingshot shoulderblock and hits a hanging Ego Trip in one motion! Cover nearly gets the win but Young gets a foot on the bottom rope. Striker escapes a Strongbuster attempt to hit a backcracker...for two. Striker attempts a La Majistral cradle, but Young rolls straight through to pick him up in the Strongbuster(another cool sequence), hitting the move to gain the victory.
Titus O'Neil vs. Derrick Bateman(w/ Maxine Perez): Bateman introduces Maxine as his new girlfriend...hmm. O'Neil comes out solo as presumably Hornswoggle is staying with his injured soulmate. Titus has plenty of motivation to get revenge for his mentor, but Bateman cuts off O'Neil's early offensive flurry with a dropkick. Bateman actually controls for quite a while, but O'Neil fires back with a huge shoulderbreaker and then blocks the Mantastic DDT before delivering a fallaway slam. Bateman rolls out of the ring and Maxine checks on him, but O'Neil follows his opponent to the floor...O'Neil throws Bateman back in, but a well-timed foot grab by Maxine is enough distraction for Derrick to get the quick rollup pin.

WWE Raw
-John Morrison d. "R-Truth" Ron Killings in a falls-count-anywhere match after suplexing Truth into a set-up chair on the floor and following up with a running knee strike to knock Truth out of the chair.
-Women's Champion Kelly K & Eve Torres d. The Bella Twins when Eve pinned Nikki Bella after the moonsault. The Divas Of Doom(Beth Phoenix & Natalya Neidhart) sarcastically applauded the victory from the entranceway.
-COO Triple H had claimed that he didn't know Kevin Nash would be at SummerSlam, but Nash said that he got a text message saying to take out the winner of the match. That brought out C.M. Punk...a verbal exchange ensued which was as snarky as you might expect.
-Jack Swagger d. Alex Riley with the Doctor Bomb(after considerable effort); U.S. Champion Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero were on commentary and Vickie distracted the ref leading to the finish.
-Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne d. Tag Team Champions The New Nexus(n/t) when Bourne pinned Michael McGillicutty after Kofi's Trouble In Paradise followed by the shooting star press.
-Alberto Del Rio(w/ Ricardo Rodriguez) d. Rey Misterio Jr. to retain the WWE Title; Rey hit the 619, but Alberto got the knees up to block the splash off the top and small-packaged him for the three-count. Alberto continued the assault and attacked Rey's arm after the match, bringing out John Cena for the save.

MMWA Special Comment
Crowd was a bit down from recent events in both numbers and energy...hmm. Someone asked me if I thought the MMWA/SICW split had anything to do with it...I do wonder if the division of talent is having that kind of effect on the overall attendance at both shows, though SICW seems to be doing well enough for itself. (NOTE: I was informed that Saturday night featured both a Cardinals game and a Rams preseason game, so that was probably a factor...)
Fine opener between Archer and Osborne with Archer picking up the slight upset(as Osborne has been winning more since going heel).
Surprising to hear on Saturday that Mephisto would be working the show...I also wondered about the fact that he and Sean Vincent would be in the same locker room since Vincent's split from IHW wasn't very pleasant. Hadn't seen Mephisto wrestle in a while and I think Tony Raze was coming off an injury, so there may have been bits of ring rust in the encounter...it was an entertaining brawl, at any rate. I noted to my friends that with the regulation ring attire and the haircut, Mephisto doesn't really LOOK like a wrestler named "Mephisto" any more...heh. :)
Odd booking to have the Vaughn-Blunt rematch later in the show instead of setting up something for next month. Some history between the two as Vaughn ended Blunt's last Heavyweight Title reign, but it was a triple threat match and Vaughn pinned Gary Jackson(so Vaughn had never beaten Blunt before this).
This was my first live look at Mark Merrik(who attended the East Carondelet tryout last summer and wrestled as "Bill Murray")...he debuted last month against Courageous and faced Espinosa here. He looked solid in the ring given his limited experience. Espy's stock continues to rise with another appearance in the PWI 500 and recent bigger-name matches in the area(he beat El Generico at a show on Sunday). Espy threw out a challenge to absent Heavyweight Champion Gary Jackson...we'll see if that turns into anything.
Courageous-LMC was a tough sell for the audience as a face/face matchup(as was Jamie Lyte vs. Jackal on Friday). The fans want a reason to be emotionally invested one way or the other and they weren't really into this one even with a championship at stake. With all the belts floating around, there hasn't been enough emphasis put on their importance in my opinion.
Nick Ridenour is licensed to referee in Missouri so he was chosen to officiate the main event...shortly after Phil E. raided his merchandise table and swiped some T-shirts. Vaughn finally gets a win over Blunt, though it was partially thanks to a biased ref and an uncooperative cornerman(who seemed to assist Blunt in the first match but then didn't want to hand over his briefcase in the second match).
Anywho, SICW next weekend with Gary Jackson vs. Mark Sterling as well as Chaz Wesson & Chris Hargas against Ron Powers & Sean Vincent...MECW the weekend after that.

NWA Anarchy TV #289
Your hosts are Tim E.D. & John Johnson.
Brodie Ray Chase vs. Jeff Lewis for the T.V. Title: These two fought a few weeks ago with Chase emerging victorious in a close matchup. Both men are two-time holders of this particular belt...in fact, Lewis was the first holder of the Anarchy Television Championship. Lewis held the Anarchy Heavyweight Title at one time, so his resume is rather stacked. The two trade some close near-falls in the closing minutes of the matchup...but Lewis sneaks in a Flair pin with feet on the ropes to win the title for the third time! Johnny Dangerous runs out to tell the referee what happened and the official seems to call for a restart, but Lewis decks the referee! Other refs come out to check on the original official...meanwhile, Lewis BELTs Brodie and hits him with the Roll Of The Credits. Guess that restart didn't take and the title change is official...
Mega Rumble: Winner gets a title shot of his choice...eliminations are by pinfall, submission, or being thrown over the top rope to the floor. #1 is C.B. Gibson, #2 is the debuting Nick Wilson. Tim E.D. fills us in on the T.V. Title situation...since the match WAS restarted and had a no-contest finish, that means Brodie Ray Chase IS still the T.V. Champion. #3 is Chris Mayne, giving Johnson a proverbial horse in the race and putting Gibson at a disadvantage.
#4 is Tommy Daniels and he comes to the aid of his tag team partner. #5 is Jacoby Boykins, putting both Ambassadors in the match and persuading Johnson to briefly head to ringside for "moral support". Boykins dumps Gibson with little trouble, then sends Daniels out in short order. Wilson tries to call a truce but falls victim to the powerbomb/backcracker combo...Mayne pins him just as #6(Johnny Dangerous) hits the ring.
The numbers are against Dangerous and he takes a beating...#7 is Dangerous' partner Lane Vasser(coincidence~!). The momentum swings back and forth until Vasser clotheslines Mayne out! Boykins takes a brief double-team beating...#8 is Bo Newsom and he gets Dangerous with the SMALL PACKAGE~! to eliminate him. Bo bides his time on the ring apron as Vasser and Boykins fight it out...a suplex battle lands Vasser on the apron and Boykins sends Lane FLYING to the floor with a huge shoulderblock. The final entrant(#9) is Skirra Corvus and he goes on offense against Newsom, but Boykins cuts him off. Corvus low-bridges Boykins who lands on the apron, but a miscue by Newsom sends Jacoby to the floor! That leaves Corvus and Newsom...Bo nearly wins with a spinebuster, but Corvus flips out of a back suplex attempt and maneuvers straight into the Graveyard Shift(his version of the curbstomp) for the three-count and victory!
Shaun Tempers vs. Steven Walters for the NWA North American Title: YAY WRESTLING~! to start...we're reminded that Walters upset Tempers shortly before Shaun won the belt. Walters goes for several quick pinning combinations in the early going...when Walters attempts a backslide, Tempers bails out of the ring(that's how Walters beat him in the previous match...PSYCHOLOGY~!). Steven follows him out with a suicide dive, but Tempers is able to turn things around not long after that. Johnson reminds us that while Walters has been known as a tag team competitor with The New Wave, he took then-NWA National Heavyweight Champion Phil Shatter to the limit not that long ago. (Where DID Derrick Driver disappear to, anyway?)
Walters goes into El Big Comeback, getting a close near-fall with a Steamboat Press. Tempers runs Walters back into the corner and follows up with a Northern Lights suplex(w/ leg hook)...for two. Walters gets in an O'Connor Roll...for two, and the kickout sends him into the turnbuckles. Rude Awakening is nearly countered into a backslide but Tempers counters out of THAT into an attempted cobra clutch/Temper-Pedic...Walters runs him into the turnbuckles to escape that, then nails the jumping enzuigiri. Walters attempts the backslide but Tempers uses the turnbuckles to his advantage once again, then FINALLY hits the Rude Awakening to win and retain the title.

Dynamo Special Comment(updated)
Will keep this short, another show tonight(MMWA at South Broadway in St. Louis)...
Fun time at the show, pretty good turnout.
Good to see Jackal again, I swear he looks exactly the same. Opener was face/face, was hoping for someone to go heel but it didn't take place. Hadn't seen Dice in an active role at a local show in quite some time...the Church Of Karrington continues to grow.
Pete Madden losing to Dirty Hector Sanchez(Vince Russo would love that name) was a bit of a shocker, but it looks like retribution may be forthcoming for our resident urban luchador at the next show. Some odd music choices for the night but the strangest had to be The Human Wrecking Ball entering to the dogs-barking version of Jingle Bells. WTF?
Walsh's win over Makaze made him the next contender to the NWA Missouri Title, so I presume he'll be challenging Karrington at the October event. Magic Man made a grand entrance on a miniature motorcycle and hit Walsh with it during the match...heh.
Kennedy & Rich may need a bit more time to gel as a unit...tough to follow the Kennedy/Karrington duo as far as teamwork goes.
Wyatt ripping on Trent Stone for "spearing curtain-jerkers" was an odd if unintentional slight on Alexandre Rudolph(who lost to Stone via spear earlier in the night and is hardly a "curtain-jerker").
MsChif-Stacey was probably my favorite match of the night. Some odd spots as Stacey tried for submission holds but MsChif acted like she barely felt them due to her flexibility...heh. The finishing sequence saw Stacey get desperate and try to flirt with the ref before slapping him...that gave MsChif the opening to spit the green mist in Stacey's eyes while the referee wasn't looking.
Odd match placement to put Karrington-Charles last as I figured Wyatt-Shorty would get that slot, having been set up at the previous show. They may have lost the crowd a bit in that regard...in Karrington's earlier promo spot, it might have helped for SBC to come out and respond as he hasn't worked any Dynamo shows so the fans may not have been familiar with him.
Onward, at any rate...no idea what's on the bill for South Broadway tonight, guess we'll have to wait and see. Rest of the month looks like SICW next week and MECW the week after that. SLA and IHW don't run again until early October...

TNA XPlosion
Douglas Williams(w/ Brutus Magnus) vs. Shawn Hernandez(w/ El Anarquia, Sarita Stock, & Rosita Fly): The referee ejected everyone from ringside at one point, but Anarquia hid under the ring in the chaos. Sarita & Rosita came back out for a distraction, allowing Anarquia to jump in for a cheapshot. Hernandez set up for the Border Toss, but Magnus jumped the guardrail and ran into the ring to BOOT Hernandez in the face...that allowed Williams to get the fall with a jackknife pin. Next week's semifinal matchup will be Williams against Alex Shelley...the winner of that match faces Magnus in the finals.

Comedy Part 384: Back Again
Location: Comedy Etc. II
Emcee: Dan Schmidt
After: J.C. Sibala
Before: Preston Vaughn
Not much to say, just glad to make the list again. One new joke kinda worked, the rest was kinda ehh. I went fairly early so I could make an excuse like "the crowd wasn't warmed up", but maybe it was just a crappy set for the most part...oh well. Hope to check out at least one of Mark Poolos' shows at Comedy Etc. this weekend.

WWE NXT5.com
Your hosts are Todd Grisham & S. William Regal...notably the open has been shortened to just the still-active rookies. We seem to be losing our pros faster than our rookies these days. Your emcee is Matt Striker(Maryse Ouellet is still recovering from a recent injury, I believe).
Darren Young disrupts a potential egg-carrying challenge...thank goodness. He's gonna ride that "main-evented SummerSlam" thing for all its worth, isn't he? Striker even calls him on that...talking about his past instead of his future. Young promptly decks Striker and challenges him to a one-on-one match.
Justin Gabriel vs. Tyson Kidd: Regal has some insight, nothing that he wrestled Gabriel's father at one time. Oh yeah, Gabriel's first WWE match involved him pinning Regal(we're not mentioning the other participants in said match). Regal drops Lance Storm's name as well, saying Kidd has been training with him recently. Nice thing about the internet shows is that the matches generally get more time...yay wrestling.
Gabriel rallies and connects with a corkscrew plancha, then hits a springboard cross-body but Kidd rolls through for a close near-fall. Gabriel counters a Sharpshooter attempt into a modified Koji Clutch but Kidd makes the ropes. Gabriel goes topside but Kidd cuts him off on the ropes and hits a series of jumping enzuigiris before springboarding into a top-rope Frankensteiner! Cover...gets 2 1/2. Kidd gets frustrated and runs into a Blue Thunder Bomb...for 2 1/2. Kidd takes Gabriel down out of nowhere with a modified Canadian Mapleleaf and Regal picks up on the Lance Storm connection that he mentioned earlier...Gabriel reverses into a modified sunset flip...for two. Gabriel hits an STO out of nowhere...third floor...Fall From Grace...nails it(from a good distance, by the way) and that's the ballgame!
Matt Striker vs. Darren Young: Striker is fired up, but Young cuts him off with a neckbreaker on the ring apron. Young targets the arm, throwing Striker shoulder-first into the ringpost...Striker manages a desperation half-sunset flip for a two-count but Young delivers an overhead suplex. Young tries for a submission with a cravate hold but Striker counters out of it and hits a Gory Bomb(shades of Young's former mentor Chavo Guerrero Jr.)! Striker's nose appears to be bloodied...reversal sequence ends in the Golden Rule(briefly the Zack Attack) and Striker gets a CLOSE near-fall. Blind charge hits turnbuckles and Young hits the Strongbuster to get the duke.
Daniel Bryan finally makes his return to NXT in a backstage segment...he won't be at ringside for Bateman because he feels like Bateman's making a fool of himself lately. Heh.
Titus O'Neil(w/ Hornswoggle & A.J. Lee) vs. Derrick Bateman: Bateman attempts to brawl his way into an advantage and actually does well for himself in that regard. Titus overpowers Bateman who takes out the leg in response, but O'Neil blocks a sunset flip for the surprise pin. Bateman tries for the post-match attack and turns his aggression toward the leprechaun, but the midget escapes harm as usual and Bateman runs into the Clash Of The Titus. Hornswoggle adds a tadpole splash for fun.
