Connelly snapped after the fall, delivering powerbombs to both Warhorse and Gary, and Vega took advantage to steal a fall on Warhorse (6:19). Wyatt made Vega tap out to the figure-four leglock (9:08), only for Gary to quickly cover Wyatt for the pin while Wyatt's legs were still tied up in the hold on Vega (9:12). -"The too turn't Lucha Unicorn" Laynie Luck d. "The Gunslinger" Mat Fitchett(w/ "Spitfire" Davey Vega) to win the Gateway Heritage Title. Vega repeatedly interfered before finally being ejected by referee Sean Orelans, leading to Fitchett blatantly hitting Orleans. Laynie was able to deliver the Unicorn Cutter(flying Cutter off the secone rope) and the newer Anarchy official ran into the ring to count one, two...and then flip off Laynie, revealing himself to have been paid off by Fitchett. Fitchett recovered to hit the flying knee strike and cradle piledriver for a CLOSE near-fall. Orleans regained his wits and pulled Fitchett's official out of the ring to deck him, then resumed officiating the match...Laynie hit one more Unicorn Cutter and locked on the STF for the tapout, making her the first female holder of the Gateway Heritage Title (15:11)!
-NOTES: Great crowd as usual and several famliar faces got spots on the pre-show. SLA is a good place to get noticed as one of this area's most visible independent companies. I still haven't gotten the name of the blond official who started a few shows ago and now we know why he came on board (as a heel official aligned with Fitchett). I've been wondering if the time is right for STL Anarchy to finally introduce Tag Team Titles; are there enough regular teams for it? The final Lethal Wrestling Alliance Tag Champs were the Hooligans(Devin/Itchy & Mason Cutter) and I'm sure the brothers would once again be in the mix if tag gold became a thing here. It'll already be a busy weekend in the wrestling world with AEW All Out as well as WWE/AAA Worlds Collide; on the local front, several area promotions have shows tomorrow night: Illinois Elite Wrestling in Granite City, IL; SICW in Columbia, IL; and MMWA in south St. Louis, MO. Take your pick, plenty of talented people out there who can put on an entertaining show!
Good night, good luck, and #yaywrestling.
