Royal Rumble Dork Stats(WOO~!)
1988: Bret Hart & Tito Santana
1989: Demolition Ax & Demolition Smash
1990: Ted DiBiase & Koko B. Ware
1991: Bret Hart & Dino Bravo
1992: Davey Boy Smith & Ted DiBiase
1993: Ric Flair & Bob Backlund
1994: Scott Steiner & Headshrinker Samu
1995: Shawn Michaels & Davey Boy Smith
1996: Triple H & Henry Godwinn
1997: Crush & Ahmed Johnson
1998: Cactus Jack & Terry Funk
1999: Steve Austin & Vince McMahon
2000: D-Lo Brown & Brian Christopher
2001: Jeff Hardy & Bull Buchanan
2002: Rikishi Phatu & Goldust
2003: Shawn Michaels & Chris Jericho
2004: Chris Benoit & Randy Orton
2005: Eddy Guerrero & Chris Benoit
2006: Triple H & Rey Misterio Jr.
2007: Ric Flair & Fit Finlay
2008: Undertaker & Shawn Michaels
2009: Rey Misterio Jr. & John Morrison
2010: Dolph Ziggler & Evan Bourne
2011: C.M. Punk & Daniel Bryan
2012: Mike Mizanin & Alex Riley
2013: Dolph Ziggler & Chris Jericho
2014: C.M. Punk & Seth Rollins
Some unlucky people in that list...Bret, Flair, Shawn, DiBiase, Benoit, Bulldog, HHH, Rey, Dolph, and then Punk. Some people were stuck at #1 by a heel authority figure or even requested the spot...it does give one an opportunity to shoot for an endurance record.
Final Entrants:
Junkyard Dog(#20), Ted DiBiase, Mr. Perfect, Tugboat, Warlord, Randy Savage, Adam Bomb, Crush, Duke Droese, Undertaker, Vader, Chyna, X-Pac, Rikishi Phatu, Booker T, Undertaker, Bill Goldberg, Ric Flair, Randy Orton, Undertaker, John Cena, Big Show, Batista, Kane(#40), Big Show, Ryback, Rey Misterio Jr.
Taker is the luck-of-the-draw winner, getting #30 on three occasions(and often drawing a late entry at other Rumbles). Despite the advantage of the slot, it wasn't until 2007 that the final entry actually won the Rumble...and then it happened two years in a row. Rey finally got a better draw after starting the Rumble twice in previous years...though the fans weren't too appreciative.
Winners:
Hacksaw Jim Duggan(#13 of 20), Big John Studd(#27), Hulk Hogan(#25), Hulk Hogan(#24), Ric Flair(#3), Yokozuna(#27), Lex Luger(#23)/Bret Hart(#27), Shawn Michaels(#1), Shawn Michaels(#18), Steve Austin(#5), Steve Austin(#24), Vince McMahon(#2), The Rock(#24), Steve Austin(#27), Triple H(#22), Brock Lesnar(#29), Chris Benoit(#1), Batista(#28), Rey Misterio Jr.(#2), Undertaker(#30), John Cena(#30), Randy Orton(#8), Edge(#29), Alberto Del Rio(#38 of 40), Sheamus O'Shaunessy(#22), John Cena(#19), Batista(#28)
The winner often seems to come from the early or late entries...the middle of the pack seems to be the actual kiss of death. The winner only came from that field on three occasions(depending on how you count Duggan). #27 is popularly noted as the most successful slot, producing the winner on four occasions. The short list of multi-time Rumble winners: Hulk, Shawn, Austin, Cena, and Batista. Notably, Batista drew #28 both times he won.
Runners-Up:
One Man Gang(#19 of 20), Ted DiBiase(#30), Mr. Perfect(#30), Earthquake(#22), Sid Justice(#29), Randy Savage(#30), Luger(#23)/Bret(#27), Davey Boy Smith(#2), Diesel(#22), Bret Hart(#21), The Rock(#4), Steve Austin(#1), Big Show(#26), Kane(#6), Kurt Angle(#26), Undertaker(#30), Big Show(#24), John Cena(#25), Randy Orton(#30), Shawn Michaels(#23), Triple H(#29), Triple H(#7), John Cena(#19), Santino Marella(#37 of 40), Chris Jericho(#29), Ryback(#30), Roman Reigns(#15)
#30 seems to be the prime spot for the bridesmaid...1995 was the first time the Rumble ended with #1 and #2(though it was the abbreviated one-minute interval version)...it happened again in the Russo-rific 1999 Rumble. 2003 was the first time the Rumble ended with #29 and #30(it happened again in 2008). 2006 was the first time it ended with a guy who started the Rumble(Rey at #2) and the final entry(Randy at #30).
Endurance Marks(source: www.prowrestlinghistory.com):
Bret Hart(25:42), Mr. Perfect(27:58), Ted DiBiase(44:47), Rick Martel(52:17)(honorable mention to Greg Valentine at 44:03), Ric Flair(59:26), Bob Backlund(61:10), Bam Bam Bigelow(30:12), Shawn Michaels/Davey Boy Smith(38:41), Triple H(48:01), Steve Austin(45:07), The Rock(51:32), Vince McMahon/Steve Austin(56:38), Test(26:17), Kane(53:46)(honorable mention to The Rock at 38:42), Steve Austin(26:46), Chris Jericho(38:54), Chris Benoit(61:30), Chris Benoit(47:26), Rey Misterio Jr.(62:12)(honorable mention to Triple H at 60:09), Edge(44:02), Triple H(49:51), John Cena(22:11), C.M. Punk(35:21), Mike Mizanin(45:39)(honorable mention to Cody Rhodes at 41:57), Dolph Ziggler(49:51), C.M. Punk(49:25)(honorable mention to Seth Rollins at 48:30).
These vary wildly depending on the time intervals...it was set at two minutes with the first Rumble(only 20 entrants), changed to one minute in 1995, then varied from 2 to 1:30 to 1:00 over the years. Rey is the current holder of the endurance record with Chris Benoit coming in second.
Most Eliminations:
12(Roman Reigns in 2014), 11(Kane in 2001), 10(Steve Austin in 1997), 8(Shawn Michaels in 1995, Shawn in 1996, Austin in 1999), 7(Hulk Hogan in 1991, Yokozuna in 1993, Lex Luger in 1994, Diesel in 1994, Steve Austin in 1998, Rikishi in 2000, Austin in 2002, John Cena and C.M. Punk in 2011)
Big runs of eliminations have often helped to push wrestlers...Diesel's dominance in '94 was the start of his big push. Reigns got the new elimination record in the 2014 Rumble and is one of the favorites in the 2015 Rumble.

WWE Raw
-E&C's opening promo and promise of a Five-Second Pose(tm) was interrupted by WWE Champion Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman...that led to a brief confrontation between Lesnar and John Cena.
-Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler d. U.S. Champion Alexander Rusev(w/ Lana Perry) by DQ(non-title) when Rusev stomped down Ziggler in the corner past the referee's five-count. Ryback saved Dolph from a post-match attack. Ryback talked about his career and said he'd had a tough road to success in WWE(acknowledging his past as Tough Enough contestant Ryan Reeves and Nexus member Skip Sheffield), but he would finally become a champion by beating Rusev.
-Women's Champion Nikki Bella(w/ Brie Bella) d. Natalya Neidhart(w/ Tyson Kidd)(non-title); Nattie knocked Nikki off the apron and Kidd caught her, causing tension between the couple(watch Total Divas Sunday nights on E~!). That distraction led to Nikki winning with the Rack Attack(torture-rack drop).
-Jimmy & Jey Uso d. Mike Mizanin & Damien Sandow to win the Tag Team Titles when Jimmy pinned Miz after the top-rope splash; Naomi Night celebrated with her husband Jimmy after the match.
-Wade "Bad News" Barrett d. Antonio Cesaro with the Bullhammer.
-Luke Harper d. Jack Swagger with the discus lariat.
-Roman Reigns d. Seth Rollins(w/ Jamie Knoble & Joey Mercury) by DQ when The Big Show(who was doing commentary) pulled Reigns out of the ring as he was setting up for the spear. Show threw Reigns over the broadcast table and then dumped the table on top of him.
-Long story short: Daniel Bryan isn't retiring and he's entering the Royal Rumble. Woo.
-The Ascension(Konnor O'Brian & Rick Viktor) d. Mike Mizanin & Damien Sandow when Konnor pinned Sandow after the Fall Of Man(legsweep/flying European uppercut combo).
-The show ended with The Cutting Edge Peep Show as Edge & Christian interviewed Seth Rollins(w/ J&J Security). Rollins brought out Big Show for his New Year's celebration, then called for Cena to come out as well...Rollins attacked Christian and had Show hold down Edge over the Money In The Bank briefcase. He threatened to advanced-curbstomp Edge on the briefcase unless Cena brought back The Authority. Cena had no choice and finally said that The Authority could return to power...Rollins went to deliver the curbstomp anyway and Cena rushed the ring, fighting Seth and his security until Show PUNCHed him out. Seth added a curbstomp on Cena...and Triple H and Stephanie McMahon came out to celebrate their return to power.
Anarchy Wrestling TV #464
-"The Undead Luchador" Supernatural d. El Gran Laredo via cross-armbreaker (4:49 aired). Supernatural earned a spot in the Young Lions' Title scramble match at Seasons' Beatings.
-"The Stray Cat" Brodie Ray Chase d. "The Violence Artist" Trever Aeon (4:48 aired); Aeon had attacked Brodie before the bell and beat him down at ringside for a couple of minutes before the match's official start.
-William Huckaby & Joe Black d. Shadow Jackson & "The Angel Of Death" Azrael; Huckaby locked Azrael in an inverted STF and Black added a superkick to the face, leading to the referee calling for the bell after three arm drops (5:21). Afterwards, Huckaby & Black complained about not getting any opportunities and vowed to take what they wanted...
-"The Real" Slim J d. Fred Yehi with the flying inverted DDT off the top rope (11:59 aired).
-"The No-Pain Train" Iceberg(w/ Agent/Attorney Jeff G. Bailey) d. "The Temptation" Shaun Tempers by DQ; Iceberg brought a chair into the ring, but he missed a Ground Zero splash with the chair and Tempers blatantly bashed him in the head with the weapon (4:41). Afterwards, Tempers challenged The Elite to a tag match at Seasons' Beatings whether he had any allies for the match or not.
-Next week: Billy Buck, Jacob Ashworth, & Jeremy Foster vs. B.J. Hancock, Joey Rhymer, & Lars Manderson.
HRW Special Comment
DISCLAIMER: I'm biased. Deal with it.
HRW was criticized a bit for higher ticket prices($15 when the average admission around this area is around ten dollars)...and this show raised the ticket price to $25 with the higher-level talent on the show. More than a few people were wondering about how the show would draw...but the attendance was around a hundred(ballpark guess on my part) and it turned out pretty well, all things considered.
The show lineup held up for the most part. A rematch between Justice Jones and Samson Walker had been set up, but Walker's name was absent when the full lineup was released and Jones was in a six-way matchup. Shane Hollister is out with an ankle injury(though, from the sound of his promo at AAW on Saturday, he's NOT retiring just yet). That turned the match into a five-way bout...then Justice Jones didn't appear at the show and it became a four-corner matchup.
Your ring announcer was Brian Thompson, your referees were Brian Stoltz and Nick Ridenour, and your video-on-demand commentators were Brian Thompson and Steve Murphy. I was switched to ringside photography while Ben Simon focused on videotaping duty.
Moose(w/ Magic Man) vs. Tony Kozina vs. Christian Rose vs. Blake Edward Belakis: Didn't catch Rose's current nickname. Fans more familiar with him have taken to heckling him by calling him a "big stupid bird"...I have no idea where that came from. I made a short list of wrestlers I'd like to see more often in 2015 and Belakis was on that list; he's more of a central Illinois guy and has been branching out a lot recently(Dragon Gate USA/EVOLVE, Full Impact Pro in Florida). The other three participants in the matchup took the immediate tact of ganging up on Moose...that worked momentarily and that was about it. As is oft the case in matchups such as this, any temporary allegiances broke down when it came down to the honor of the winning pinfall. Moose speared Rose for the pin in 5:45; it was a fine entertaining opener with the good guy winning to start things on a positive note.
"The Anarchist" Arik Cannon vs. Jonathan Gresham: Gresham established himself as the heel with a nice bit of possum-playing. Gresham is one of those guys who I haven't seen too often; he's obviously talented but lack of size has probably held him back(a quick search of the Internets has him at 5'4"). Even though the rules are relaxed in HRW, the refs tend to fall back on rule-enforcing habits; because of that, Gresham still felt like hanging onto the official so he wouldn't see a momentum-shifting mule kick to the Universal Weak Point. Gresham followed that up with an Oklahoma roll for the three-count in 11:24.
"The Kentucky Gentleman" Chuck Taylor vs. Jigsaw: It seemed odd for Taylor to be the fan favorite and Jigsaw to be the heel. Jigsaw was a LOT more vocal than I was expecting as he was talking trash right out of the gate. Taylor was once (in)famous for scaring kids and I joked at the time that booking Taylor as a face was like booking Chris Hero and telling him "no cravates"; it was just what he did. Jigsaw had a cup of coffee in TNA as Rubix and has been a big part of CHIKARA in recent years. Chuckie T has been all over the place, including CHIKARA and Dragon Gate USA/EVOLVE. Fine matchup, though it was one of the shorter bouts of the night; Taylor won with a pop-up sitout powerbomb in 6:13.
The Rock 'N' Shock Connection(Bolt Brady & "The Yoga Monster" Mike Sydal) vs. The New Midnight Express(w/ Beautiful Bobby Eaton): To be fair, Eaton WAS a heel for most of his career so it's only natural for a "New Midnight Express" to also be rulebreakers. Eaton's new team was revealed to be "Showtime" Bradley Charles(as "Bad Brad") and Tyler Cook(as "Tenacious Tyler"); I hadn't seen Cook in several years, but he's been a regular for Metro Pro and has also competed for WLW. SBC and Cook have been both tag partners and rivals in their careers; this was my first time seeing them as a team. Bolt worked most of the bout before finally going for the hot tag...and then Sydal dropped off the ring apron. Sydal walked to the other side of the ring, shook hands with Bobby, and then joined Brad & Tyler in attacking Brady...well, they ARE all Kansas City guys. That brought out Moose and Magic Man and the match was turned into an impromptu six-man tag on the fly...
Moose, Bolt Brady, & Magic Man vs. The New Midnight Express(Bad Brad, Tenacious Tyler, & Mike Sydal)(w/ Beautiful Bobby Eaton): Magic Man briefly tagged into the match and hit a tornado DDT on Sydal, then Moose cleaned house...but then Bolt tagged himself back into the match. That was a mistake as Bad Brad rolled him up with a handful of tights in a total match time of 10:59 (there was no bell to indicate a no-contest for the original match so I just counted it all as one match).
Cue intermission~! I'm getting too old to be on my feet for an entire wrestling show...
The Colony(Fire Ant & Silver Ant) vs. reDRagon(Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish)(w/ Tony Kozina) for the vacant Tag Team Titles: The Tag Title vacancy was a surprise; The Hooligans(Devin & Mason Cutter) defeated Team Overkill(Matt Cage & Christian Rose) at the first HRW show to become the first titleholders, but they hadn't been back to the promotion since then. Of course, the "thirty-day rule" tends to be flexible in wrestling (i.e. Brock Lesnar has gone far longer without a WWE Title defense than Daniel Bryan did). O'Reilly and Fish had their Ring Of Honor and IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Title belts with them; they're three-time ROH Tag Champs and second only to Jay & Mark Briscoe in that department.
For those unfamiliar with CHIKARA lore, there have been several different incarnations of The Colony. The group underwent a few changes as Worker Ant and Soldier Ant had their careers ended(though Soldier Ant recently returned as a member of The Flood); Carpenter Ant was a part of the group but turned out to be a saboteur, revealing himself to be Pinkie Sanchez. There have also been rival ant groups like The Swarm and The Colony Xtreme Force, but Swarm member assailANT would join the group in good standing and become the second Worker Ant. Fire Ant and Soldier Ant were Campeones De Parejas and won King Of Trios with Silver Ant(then known as Green Ant) in 2011.
At any rate, I'm pretty sure this was the first meeting between these two teams. It was really good and realistically could have gone either way, if only as it related to the mindset of "which team is more likely to be back for the next show?" Kozina interfered a few times, but the fan support was still divided between the two teams. After several close near-falls for each side, Fish finally got the pin on Silver Ant after the Chasing The Dragon(brainbuster/head kick combo) in 17:15. O'Reilly and Fish carried a lot of hardware out of the ring last night...
"Unbreakable" Michael Elgin vs. Uhaa Nation(w/ Magic Man): This was a rematch from the previous show when Elgin scored a hard-fought win. It was essentially face-vs.-face...however, the New Midnight Express came out to ringside midway through the match. This distracted everyone involved, then they made their move as Sydal pulled the ref out of the ring as Elgin had Nation in the Sharpshooter. Presumably they were getting revenge for Magic Man sticking his nose into their business earlier in the night. It was officially a no-contest at the 19:00 mark...then all hell broke loose as the heels attacked both men. Moose ran in for an assist, but then turned on Nation out of nowhere with a spear. He wasn't done as he chokeslammed Magic Man...promoter Frank Thurman tried to restore order, but Eaton punched him out and then cut off his ponytail. Bolt Brady finally ran him to help, but the heels' work was done and they took their leave.
A.C.H. vs. Ricochet for the Heavyweight Title: Was seriously geeked for most of this card but especially this matchup. Ricochet played the subtle heel even though he had his share of fans in attendance. A.C.H. gave Ricochet a late Christmas present in the form of a custom action figure...it was...interesting. Anywho, you really had to see this matchup for yourself; if you weren't at the show, invest in the video-on-demand once it's available online. A.C.H. picked up the win with the Hero's Grip(German suplex) in 17:17...good times.
That'll wrap up my 2014 in rasslin...I attended a grand total of 57 shows in this calendar year. I missed a couple of shows due to my unscheduled hospital stints and there were several evenings where I had to choose from the two or even three shows on the same night. All in all, it's a good time to be a wresting fan in the St. Louis area...woo.
January looks like this so far:
-Saturday 1/3: Dynamo in Fenton, MO
-Saturday 1/10: PWCS in Granite City, IL; MMWA in St. Louis, MO
-Saturday 1/17: SICW in East Carodelet, IL
Good night, good luck, and #yaywrestling.
P.S. We are all marks.
2014 Result Compilation: HRW

-Commentators: Herb Simmons & Drew Abbenhaus.
-Joined in progress: "Night Train/Gorgeous/Great One" Gary Jackson d. Mohamad Ali Vaez in a Texas Death Match; the loser of a fall had thirty seconds to get back to his feet or be declared the loser. Later in the match, Vaez was able to win a fall with the Akbar Clutch(cobra clutch out of the camel clutch position); Gary just barely got back to his feet after that hold. Jackson scored a tapout with the Texas Cloverleaf and it was Vaez's turn to barely beat the count. Gary reversed an Irish whip into a chair wedged in the corner and went to the top rope...Vaez cut him off and hit a superplex, but the referee counted both men's shoulders down as each had an arm draped over the other. -Commentator: Brett Wolverton.
-Miss Rachael(w/ Heavyweight Champion "The Modern Classic" B.J. Hancock & Lars Manderson) enlightened us to start the show...she claimed that Manderson would win the Mega Rumble and keep the title within the stable at Seasons' Beatings. Hancock & Rachael did commentary for the Rumble...
-Mega Rumble: The match started with Lars Manderson(#1) and Jacob Ashworth(#2). "The New Face Of Old School" Mike Posey was #3; he took advantage of the other two grappling on the ropes to dump them both out of the ring from behind. Fred Yehi was #4 as Ashworth and Manderson brawled back to the dressing room area...C.B. Suave was #5 and immediately attacked Yehi.
-"The Encore" Kevin Blue was #6 and went after Suave...William Huckaby was #7 and immediately threw out Yehi. Blue was triple-teamed by the three heels until "The Stray Cat" Brodie Ray Chase entered at #8...Chase fought off Suave and Huckaby until he got his hands on Posey. "The Real" Slim J was #9 and went right after Suave...Joe Black was #10 and joined forces with his partner Huckaby to double-team Blue, tossing him out of the ring. Huckaby & Black threw out Slim J, then showed no favortism as they dumped Suave as well(touching off another brawl on the floor). Brodie fought with Huckaby and Black, but the numbers caught up to him and Huckaby eliminated him. Posey tried to buddy up to Huckaby & Black, then ducked and ran out of the ring before hiding at ringside.
-"The Angel Of Death" Azrael was #11 and entered a three-on-one situation, but he managed to throw out Posey before being double-teamed by Huckaby and Black. They tried to get Azrael over the top, but "The Lethal Dose" Stryknyn was #12 and dumped all three men at once! T.V. Champion "The Technician" Todd Sexton(w/ John "The Body" Johnson) was #13 and stalled before entering the ring...only for Stryknyn to immediately clothesline him to the floor. "Wild" Billy Buck was #14 and Jagged Edge(w/ Agent/Attorney Jeff G. Bailey) was #15...Ashworth and Manderson brawled back out to ringside and Sexton entered the ring to blindside Stryknyn with the T.V. Title belt. That led to Jagged Edge booting Stryknyn out of the ring...Shadow Jackson was the final entrant at #16. Outtkast got the keys first and brought the chairs into play; this led to Dirden being hung from the Tree Of Woe with chairs sandwiching his head as Outtkast lawndarted the ladder into his face! The table proved to be sturdier than expected; Outtkast caught Dirden on the ladder and used the kendo stick for a White Russian Legsweep, sending both men crashing down onto the table. Undettered, Dirden chokeslammed Outtkast onto the table and it still didn't break! Outtkast somehow survived the assault and got the briefcase from the final ringpost, bringing out a metal spike...he nearly choked out Dirden with it, but Dirden was able to fight out of the predicament.
