Lucha Underground Season 3 Episode 11

Commentators:  Matt Striker & Vampiro.

Backstage:  Promoter Dario Cueto passed Gift Of The Gods Champion Johnny Mundo(w/ Taya Valkyrie) in the hall; Mundo vowed to win and hold both singles titles at once.  Mundo said that on the offhand chance that he doesn't win Aztec Warfare, he will be cashing in his belt for a title shot on next week's show.  Mundo proudly displayed his drawn #12, but Dario grabbed it out of his hand and ripped it in half...putting him at #2 and forcing him to deal with Matanza Cueto on his own.

During the opening announcements, Dario whispered to ring announcer Melissa Santos that #2 was supposed to be Sexy Star, but "now it's Johnny Mundo"...

20-Luchador Aztec Warfare for the Heavyweight Title:
#1 "The Monster" Matanza Cueto(C)(w/ Dario Cueto)
#2 Gift Of The Gods Champion Johnny Mundo
#3 Son Of Havoc
#4 Jeremiah Crane
#5 Pentagon Dark
#6 "The Darewolf" P.J. Black
#7 Mariposa
Matanza pinned Crane with a deadlift German suplex (7:36 aired).  Mariposa attempted to use her feminine wiles to distract Matanza, but that just earned her a chokeslam and Matanza pinned her (8:11 aired).
#8 Rey Misterio Jr.
#9 Dr. Wagner Jr.(w/ Famous B & Beautiful Brenda)
#10 Marty "The Moth" Martinez
#11 Jack Evans
Mundo & Black(who had been hiding under the ring) joined forces with their Worldwide Underground teammate to triple-team Havoc; Mundo & Black delivered a double superkick to the back of the head and Evans pinned Havoc after a corkscrew standing moonsault (12:56 aired).
#12 Sexy Star
#13 Ricky Mandel(subbing for the injured Ivelisse Velez)
Pentagon hit Mandel with a package piledriver and prepared to break his arm, but Black Lotus emerged with her triad of assassins:  Io Shirai, Kairi Hojo, & Mayu Iwatani.  The four women ganged up on Pentagon, getting revenge for Pentagon breaking Lotus' arm at Ultima Lucha Dos; Shirai finished with a Canadian Destroyer, allowing Mundo to pin Pentagon (15:44 aired).  Black pinned Mandel as an afterthought (15:50 aired).
#14 Mascarita Sagrada
Sagrada ran right into Matanza's Wrath Of The Gods(rewind powerslam) and was out (16:27 aired).
#15 Famous B(w/ Beautiful Brenda)
B found himself alone with Rey in the ring...Rey threw away his business card and delivered a 619 and springboard splash for the quick win (17:44 aired).  Misterio followed up with a victory roll on Marty The Moth to eliminate him (18:33 aired).
#16 Willie Mack
#17 Joey Ryan
Ryan once again brought handcuffs to attach himself to the railing, choosing the more solid metal railing by the entrance stairs as a better anchor.  Unfortunately, that put him right in the path of...
#18 Mil Muertes(w/ Catrina Perez)
Mil pulled Ryan away from the railing and broke the handcuffs in the process, pulling him into the ring.  Matanza dropped Wagner with a snap belly-to-back suplex as Muertes dropped Ryan with a Flatiner, leading to stereo pinfalls (21:28 aired).  That led to a renewal of the Matanza-Muertes rivalry...
#19 Kobra Moon
Evans tried to take out Mack with a sleeperhold, but Mack countered into a backpack Stone Cold Stunner and got the pinfall (22:43 aired).  Mack caught Black with a pop-up Stunner and Sexy Star assisted him in a dogpile pin on Black (23:02 aired).
#20 Trios Champion Drago
Drago had an immediate confrontation with Kobra Moon, leading to him pinning her with the Dragon's Tail(modified crucifix pin) (24:11 aired).  However, Matanza caught Drago's cross-bodyblock for a standing moonsault frontslam(!) to eliminate him (24:29 aired).  The remaining competitors(even Muertes and Mundo) finally decided to gang up on Matanza...the monster took a Bedazzled Knee from Mundo, a spear from Muertes, a Codebreaker from Sexy Star, and a flying roundhouse kick and Stunner from Mack.  Mundo added a Flying Chuck Kick, then Rey dropkicked him into position to hit the 619.  A springboard dropkick to the back put him in position for a second 619, but Matanza caught him.  However, Rey maneuvered into position for a Code Red and finally pinned the monstrous champion (26:53 aired)!

Matanza snapped and attacked Rey after his elimination, slamming him repeatedly into the guardrail and leveling a referee.  Matanza laid out Rey with the Wrath Of The Gods and even shoved Dario before finally leaving...in the meantime, Mundo took the opportunity to pin Rey (28:39 aired).  That brought us down to the final four:  Mundo, Sexy Star, Willie Mack, & Mil Muertes.

Sexy Star squared off with Mundo and Black & Evans ran back out to interfere as Rey was being stretchered out of the temple...but Angélico made a surprise appearance, diving off the roof of Dario's office with a cross-body onto the three members of Worldwide Underground!  Sexy Star took advantage of Angélico's death-defying move to drape an arm over Mundo for the three-count (31:02 aired).  Mack & Sexy Star tried to double-team Muertes, but Mil threw Sexy Star out of the ring and finished off Mack with the spear and Flatliner (32:16 aired).  Sexy Star seemed to be facing insurmountable odds, but she refused to back down...even after getting manhandled repeatedly by the huge masked man.  Mil brought out a table and chair, seeking to do serious damage before ending the match...but she countered a chokeslam into a DDT on the chair.  She hammered Mil in the head with the chair, but it took several shots before he went down...and she got a two-count.  Muertes set up to spear her through the table in the corner, but she avoided the spear and he crashed through the table...Sexy Star capitalized with a rollup...for two.  Mil punched her directly in the face and brought in a second table...he set up for a top-rope Flatliner through the table, but she fought him off and he crashed through the table.  She followed up with a double-stomp off the top rope and scored the final pin to win the Heavyweight Title (36:55 aired)!

Next week:  Sexy Star vs. Johnny Mundo for the Heavyweight Title.
