Dynamo Special Comment 12/15/18

Now, as promised, a special comment about the Dynamo Pro Wrestling show on Saturday, December 15th at FUBAR in St. Louis, Missouri.

DISCLAIMER:  I'm biased.  Deal with it.

Your ring announcers were Chris Roedel & Luke Roberts; your referee was Scott Ramsey.

The night began with a ten-bell salute for "T.N.T." Keny G(arrett), who had been associated with Dynamo in recent years and also promoted High Voltage Wrestling in this area.  His daughter Santana has been making waves in independent wrestling for the past several years, including appearances in WWE/NXT and TNA Impact.  Keny had me over to his house to watch WrestleMania XXX, which was cool of him.

New Tag Team Champions The Unlikely Heroes(Jackal & "Mr. Mustache" Ricky Rodriguez) kicked off the show with some Christmas carols, accompanied by Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer(or a dude in a costume who was a reasonable facsimilie).  Rodriguez wore a red and white suit for the Christmas holidays along with a cowboy hat that has since become a regular part of his attire.  The champions were prepared for their challenge later in the night, but they were attacked from behind by the seemingly reunited Agents Of Chaos(Viktor Von Stein & Xavier Shadowz).  The Tag Team Title match had been scheduled to be a rematch from DeSoto with the Unlikely Heroes defending against the Arch City Mercenaries(Tony Esteem & Jimmy LaFleur), but the Agents would be added to make it a triple threat match.

"The Valedictorian" Keon Option vs. "Mr. Excitement" Christopher Adams vs. Ezra Zealous:  Adams made a return appearance after his impressive Dynamo debut in Desoto the previous month.  Former Tag Champ Option had been looking for a signature win to move into title contention, while relative newcomer Zealous was hoping to get on the radar.  In this style of match, it often comes down to the most opportunistic competitor; after Option delivered two axe kicks to Adams, Ezra disposed of Option and stole the pin on Adams in 8:13.

"The Empress Of Evil" Rahne Victoria vs. Savanna Stone for the Women's Title:  Somehow I feel that these two are destined to do this forever...hopefully we can see some new faces in the mix soon.  Savanna seemed to have the momentum in her favor and nearly got the win after a close-range superkick, but Ezra Zealous stuck his nose into things and pulled Savanna off the pin cover.  That led to a DQ win for Savanna in 8:57...Keon Option made another appearance to fight off Zealous, leading to co-promoter Crystal Yount ordering an impromptu tag match (playa).

"The Valedictorian" Keon Option & Savanna Stone vs. Ezra Zealous & Women's Champion "The Empress Of Evil" Rahne Victoria:  Some promotions are less strict than others about physical interactions between the male and female competitors...this was more of an intergender match than a mixed tag.  The women primarily continued their own hostilities while Option and Zealous picked up where they left off in the opening triple threat bout.  Nothing was settled between the women, but Option got a measure of revenge by pinning Zealous after the jumping Flatliner(aka Paydirt) in 9:55.

The Unlikely Heroes(Jackal & "Mr. Mustache" Ricky Rodriguez) vs. The Agents Of Chaos(Viktor Von Stein & Xavier Shadowz) vs. The Arch City Mercenaries(Tony Esteem & Jimmi LaFleur) for the Tag Team Titles:  This was a rematch from the show at South Broadway in November where Jackal & Rodriguez captured the titles from the Agents (though they pinned the Mercenaries for the win in that bout).  While it seemed like the Agents were back on the same page, tension erupted once again after a miscommunication between the partners.  The two argued and then fought all over the building, leading the Heroes and Mercenaries to decide the outcome.  Esteem & LaFleur had an underhanded plan in place (with triple threat matches being no-countout-no-DQ by default):  The remaining challengers isolated the titlists from each other and LaFleur zip-tied Rodriguez to the guardrail, leaving Jackal to fend for himself...the perennial underdog stayed in the fight, but a low blow by Esteem made the difference as he finished off Jackal with the headlock driver in 14:40.  For the second time in as many months, Dynamo Pro saw the crowning of NEWWWWW Tag Team Champions!

Intermission~!  Official Ben Simon Concession Count(tm):  Water, Snickers bar, and Twix bar.

"The Wind Of Destruction" Makaze vs. "The Caramel Bear" C.J. Shine for the Heavyweight Title:  These two had crossed paths a few times in the Dynamo ring; Shine scored an upset win over the masked veteran early in his career.  Shine scored a DQ win over champion Makaze earlier in 2018 to make himself 2-0 against The Wind Of Destruction, but Makaze got his revenge in DeSoto.  Shine had won the vacant title in a triple threat match with "The King Of Chaos" Ricky Cruz and Keon Option, but Makaze issued an impromptu challenge to the new titleholder and defeated his worn-down adversary to become the champion once again.  Shine had a chance to reclaim the gold here, but he didn't count on Makaze's allies getting involved in the matchup...he seemed to have the win after the TKO, but Viktor Von Stein made an appearance to distract the referee.  Makaze brought in a chair, but didn't use it as a weapon...he banged it up on the mat, then threw it to Shine and dropped to the mat.  The official turned around and saw the scenario, disqualifying Shine in 11:38 to give Makaze the DQ win.

Mike Outlaw vs. Outtkast for the D-1 Title:  The inaugural D-1 Champion(and two-time titleholder) finally got an opportunity to reclaim the title...Outtkast won an eighteen-man tournament to become the first champion, beating Elvis Aliaga and Jayden Fenix(now known as Jayden Dominic Rose) in the final.  Outtkast lost the belt to his longtime Bumrush Brothers tag team partner Shorty Biggs but regained it a month later...he lost it to "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin in early 2017.

Outtkast has been around a long time(almost exclusively competing for Gateway Championship Wrestling and Dynamo Pro) but still knows his way around the ring, giving Outlaw the fight of his life.  Outtkast targeted Outlaw's leg in the early going in an attempt to slow him down and hamper his ability to fly off the ropes...of course Outtkast can still take to the air himself, delivering a top-rope headscissors takedown(shades of Super Calo).  Outtkast hit his Case Study finisher but Outlaw managed to get a foot on the bottom rope.  Outlaw fired back with a middle-rope springboard European uppercut, but Outtkast cut him off on the turnbuckles and the two fought for the advantage.  Outtkast attempted a top-rope Case Study(I'm not even sure how that would WORK) but Outlaw fought him off, then delivered a flying tornado DDT off the second rope!  Outlaw quickly scaled the turnbuckles again and delivered the High Noon elbowdrop from the top, scoring the pin to retain his title in 15:52!  I thought this was a tremendous matchup and was a great way to cap off the show.

I'M ALMOST DONE WITH 2018.  MY GOD.  Just one more show to recap and I can get to THIS year.  WOO~!

That's my special comment for this, the seventy-ninth wrestling show I attended in the year 2018.  Good night, good luck, and #yaywrestling.
