-Jimmy Jacobs(w/ Jimmy Rave) d. Mike Mondo by rolling through an O'Connor Roll and holding the ropes.
-Matt Hardy, Rhino, & Steve Corino d. Jay Lethal, Michael Elgin, & B.J. Whitmer; the other members of SCUM interfered, zip-tying Lethal and handcuffing Elgin to the bottom rope outside the ring. Saturday CSCW Results From Swansea, IL
EDIT as I got a few of the details wrong on the finish of the main:
-NWA Central States Title Tournament Quarterfinal: Evan Money d. Dark Kunai via Crippler Crossface.
-Tournament Quarterfinal: Shane Fury d. Chris Logan with a rollup and handful of tights.
-Andy Dalton d. Jerome Daniels(w/ Byron Wilcott) via small package after Gregory James stopped Wilcott from interfering.
-Tournament Quarterfinal: Symon Phoenix d. Rick Ruby after a spear.
-John Epperson d. Jimmy D by DQ when Jimmy D hit Epperson with his baseball bat. Epperson wanted a restart but Jimmy D walked away from the ring...leading to Epperson challenging him to a no-DQ rematch at the next show(April 27th in Jerseyville).
-Tournament Quarterfinal: Deven Spade(w/ Garrett Williams d. Justa Mazing with a modified STF.
-Tournament Semifinal: Deven Spade(w/ Garrett Williams) d. Symon Phoenix by DQ when Phoenix low-bridged Spade out of the ring(caused a disqualification under NWA rules).
-Tournament Semifinal: Evan Money d. Shane Fury with a small package in a surprisingly quick matchup.
-Byron Wilcott(w/ Jerome Daniels) d. Gregory James(w/ Andy Dalton) to retain the NWA North American Title. The outside parties got involved, leading to Wilcott getting the cheap rollup pin on a distracted James(possibly with a handful of tights).
-Tournament Final: Evan Money d. Deven Spade(w/ Garrett Williams) to become the new NWA Central States Champion. Former titleholder Shane Somers was the special guest referee and wasted no time in enforcing his will on both Spade and Williams. Late in the contest, Shane Fury got involved leading to a physical altercation with Somers. Williams brought out brass knuckles, but then double-crossed Spade with a cheapshot from behind. Money delivered a roaring elbow and got the pin with a second ref making the three-count. Somers took more abuse after the match as it turned out that Money, Fury, and Garrett Williams were in cahoots the whole time...

WWE Smackdown
-Commentators: Michael Cole, Josh Mathews, & John Bradshaw Layfield.
-WWE Champion The Rock started the show...but, of all people, John Laurinaitis interrupted him. He tried to kiss up to Rock on the grounds of having a common enemy(John Cena)...but he got hit with the spinebuster and People's Elbow in response.
-Chris Jericho d. Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett(non-title); Wade turned his attention to Mike Mizanin at the broadcast table and it cost him as he walked into a Codebreaker for the Jericho win. Jericho mangled Johnny Fandango's name after the match which brought out the man himself...but only for some posturing from afar.

-Tag Team Champions Daniel Bryan & Women's Champion Kaitlyn Bonin(w/ Kane) d. Dolph Ziggler & A.J. Lee when Kaitlyn pinned A.J. after the spear.
-The Great Khali(w/ Natalya Neidhart & Hornswoggle) fought Jack Swagger(w/ Zeb Colter) to a double countout when Swagger got Khali in the Patriot Lock outside the ring. Swagger threw Hornswoggle into the ringside barricade, but then Ricardo Rodriguez came out on crutches and dared Swagger to attack him again. World Champion Alberto Del Rio jumped the barricade to brawl with Swagger and got him in the cross-armbreaker, then Rodriguez hit Zeb with his crutch before the heels retreated.
-Sheamus O'Shaunessy, The Big Show, & Randy Orton d. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro & The Rhodes Scholars(Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow). Show PUNCHed out Cesaro and threw Sandow into an RKO, then Sheamus pinned Rhodes after the Brogue Kick. The Shield members attempted to make their usual entrance, but the Sheamus/Show/Orton trio went right out through the crowd to meet them for a fight.

WWE NXT
Commentators: Jim Ross, Tom Phillips, & S. William Regal. Ring announcer: Howard Finkel(!).
Kaitlyn Bonin vs. Natalya Neidhart for the Women's Title: Well, Nattie HAS been winning lately, so good for her. I am quickly reminded that, in the realm of ring announcers, there's The Fink and there's everyone else. YAY WRESTLING~! as Natalya takes it to the mat, then they trade pin combos until Kaitlyn powers out of a Sharpshooter attempt. Nattie responds with a huge short-arm clothesline and that'll slow the pace JUST a bit. They trade abdominal stretches as the fans bring the dueling chants...heh. Kaitlyn rallies with a flying shoulderblock and fireman's-carry press into a gutbuster...for two. Spear is leapfrogged and Nattie double-legs her into the Sharpshooter...Kaitlyn's a long way from the ropes but she manages to get there, then pulls Natalya into the turnbuckles with her leg strength. Nattie tries a last-ditch charge but runs into the SPEAR and Kaitlyn retains her title! Mutual respect does occur afterwards...
Backstage, Tony Dawson interviews World Champion Alberto Del Rio about his feud with Jack Swagger.
Brodus Clay(w/ Funkadactyls) vs. El Local: I don't like the masked man's chances...but he puts up a surprisingly decent fight for a little while. However, one aerial move too many leads to Local literally falling flat on his face...and it's downhill from there. Big splash, good night.
The following announcement has been paid for by The Shield.
Dawson interviews John Cena about his WWE Title match with The Rock at WrestleMania.
We visit the commentary booth...where Kassius Ohno attacks Regal out of nowhere! The referee brigade arrives to get him out of there, but the damage has been done.
Randy Orton vs. Damien Sandow: Sandow enlightens us before the match...you're welcome. Standard-issue match between these two...we're down to J.R. and Phillips on commentary with Regal out of commission. Sandow puts up a pretty good fight, all things considered...but Orton maneuvers into the 3.0 backbreaker to stop his offensive. Hanging DDT follows, then the RKO and we're out.

WWE Raw
-Commentators: Michael Cole & Jerry Lawler.
-Johnny Fandango(w/ dance partner) didn't quite debut as he was attacked by Chris Jericho...leading right into the next match.
-Chris Jericho d. Dolph Ziggler(w/ A.J. Lee & Big E Langston) with the Walls Of Jericho. Langston took out Jericho afterwards and dropped him with the Big Ending...then Fandango came back out to attack Jericho. Fandango finished the assault with the guillotine legdrop.
-Mark Henry won a handicap match against Jimmy & Jey Uso when he pinned Jey after the World's Strongest Slam. Both Usos took post-match abuse.
-U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro d. World Champion Alberto Del Rio(w/ Ricardo Rodriguez on crutched after being Patriot-Locked last week) by countout(non-title). Zeb Colter came out as a distraction and Jack Swagger attacked Rodriguez at ringside; Alberto left the ring to fight him off but was counted out as a result. Alberto took out his frustration on Cesaro after the match with the cross-armbreaker takedown.
-Tag Team Champions Hell No(Kane & Daniel Bryan) d. The Prime Time Players(Titus O'Neil & Darren Young)(non-title) when Kane pinned Young after the chokeslammed. Dolph Ziggler, Big E Langston, & A.J. Lee watched from the entranceway.

-Mike Mizanin d. Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett(non-title) via figure-four leglock.
-The Shield(Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns) d. The Great Khali, Zack Ryder, & Justin Gabriel; Rollins pinned Gabriel when Ambrose put Gabriel in a bow-and-arrow hold and Rollins hit a kneedrop off the top rope. Khali took the triple-team powerbomb after the match(!) but Sheamus O'Shaunessy, The Big Show, & Randy Orton hit the ring to run off the Shield trio.
-The Rhodes Scholars(w/ Brie & Nikki Bella) d. Brodus Clay & Lord Tensai(w/ Funkadactyls). A catfight outside the ring distracted the wrestlers and Sandow snapped Clay's throat off the top rope, setting up Cody's Beautiful Disaster kick for the win.

-A.J. Lee d. Women's Champion Kaitlyn Bonin by countout(non-title). A.J. sidestepped a spear attempt and Kaitlyn hit the ringside barricade; Kaitlyn wasn't able to recover in time to beat the ten-count.
-The show closed with a panel of legends interviewing WWE Champion The Rock and John Cena; the panel consisted of Jerry Lawler, Booker T, Mick Foley, Dusty Rhodes, and Bret Hart. The verbal confrontation got physical and Rock escaped an F-U attempt before dropping Cena with the Rock Bottom.

Anarchy Wrestling TV #371
Commentators: Tim E.D. & Andrew Pendleton III.
Backstage: Jeff G. Bailey confers with Jagged Edge about dealing with Bryan Cassanova...then Jerry Palmer arrives to chat with Bailey. Palmer admits that he has a problem with Bailey's bashing of the military as it pertains to Cassanova...then Bailey gets on Palmer's case about his constant attempts to recruit former allies Iceberg and Slim J. Looks like tension in the ranks of The Elite...
Bu Ku Dao, Blake Wilder, & Bolt Brady vs. Brandon Parker, Kameron Kade, & Mr. B: That's a lot of B's. The face trio shows superb teamwork in the early minutes. Most of these gentlemen are newcomers to the promotion...in fact, it's Mr. B's Anarchy debut. Dao takes the requisite beating for his side, but he flippies his way into a hot tag to Bolt Brady. Welcome to Pier Six! The non-legal men take it outside and Brady maneuvers into a half-straitjacket backcracker on Mr. B for the win...well done. Parker and Kade check on Mr. B only to immediately turn on him...Kade stuns him with an enzuigiri and Parker plants him with a cradle DDT.
Joey Rhymer vs. Bobby Moore: The fans show serious dedication by singing the whole Barney theme to annoy the purple-clad Moore. Moore slows the pace to his liking, but a missed Vaderbomb opens the door for the underdog comeback. Moore stops him in his tracks with a turnbuckle Flatliner but can't put Rhymer away...and he wastes too much time with the trash-talking. Rhymer slaps him in the face and that pisses Moore off...he brings out the loaded elbowpad but Rhymer kicks it out of his hands. Moore goes after it and gets dropkicked out of the ring...but he catches a plancha and slams Rhymer on the edge of the ring. Moore keeps looking for his lost elbowpad, then goes for a chair...but misses the wild swing and Rhymer beats the ten-count for the surprise win! Rhymer wisely gets out of dodge before Moore can seek post-bell retribution...
Todd Sexton vs. Bo Newsom(w/ Miss Rachel): This one breaks down into a brawl on the floor before the match can even start...Sexton hits him with a water bottle and slams him on the floor while they're out there. Miss Rachel stays in the ring for her own safety...Sexton gets a hold of the wooden drink holder(Newsom hit Todd with it in a previous altercation) but Rachel hits him from behind with her clipboard to distract him. They FINALLY get the action into the ring, the opening bell rings just in time for Todd to reverse an Irish whip right into the referee. Sexton takes Newsom down into the Crippler Crossface and Bo's tapping, but YOUR senior official Brent Wiley(Todd's brother) orders a disqualification due to the pre-match attack. An irate Sexton demands a no-DQ rematch with Bo and WANTS Wiley to officiate...he dubs the Newsom/Rachel pair "Bo And The Ho".
The Movement(Najasism & The Vandal) vs. The Washington Bullets(Jon & Trey Williams): Winners get the next Tag Team Title shot at the Urban Assault Squad(Shadow Jackson & Nemesis). The Bullets turned on the Movement duo after a recent eight-man tag, leading to this grudge match. Najasism goes on the attack right away and they go to work on Trey...AP3 jokes that he wouldn't wish a Tag Title shot on either of these teams given the opposition awaiting them. Najasism & Vandal maintain the momentum against Jon but the Bullets finally get Najasism in their corner...Naja tries a flying rana off the ropes only to get blocked by Trey for a turnbuckle powerbomb!
Cue the face-in-peril segment...Jon boots Vandal off the apron for fun while Trey Stunguns Najasism on the guardrail. Naja won't quit, but Jon meets an aerial move off rope two with a pair of knees to the gut. Najasism gets some separation with a jawbreaker on Jon, then fights both men until finally forward-roling into a tag to Vandal! The house is on fire and Naja tags back in for some teamwork ending with a Najasism somersault neckbreaker on Jon onto Vandal's knees! Trey breaks up the ensuing pin attempt and disposes of Vandal, leaving Najasism in a two-on-one situation...double-team Ego Trip! Cover by Trey...only gets two! Jon tags in and they set up for one more double-team, but Vandal low-bridges Trey as Naja counters the wheelbarrow pickup by Jon into a victory roll and flash pin!
Next episode: 14-Man Mega Rumble plus Stryknyn defends the Young Lions' Title against C.B. Suave.

Comedy Part 482: Comedy For A Cause
Location: O'Fallon(IL) Moose Lodge
Emcee: Me
Guest Spot: Justin Crouch
Headliner: Dean Schardan
Feature: Bruce Veach
Feel like I did a good job on this show(despite a slight gaffe in Bruce's introduction). It had been a while since I'd done a show like this...that's why I made an effort to get out to some shows this past week in order to get back in practice. Was good to talk to Art Vieluf again...hadn't seen him in about a year. Didn't really do much new material but it may not have been the best place for that anyway. At any rate, I'm back to work tomorrow(weather permitting?) so I'll need to figure out how to fit open-mic shows into my personal schedule...

-Dolph Ziggler(w/ A.J. Lee & Big E Langston) d. Kofi Kingston; Big E stood in the way of a suicide dive so Kofi dove off the top rope onto Langston. However, Dolph hit a Fameasser on the floor, then threw Kofi back in the ring for the Zigzag and the win. Langston dropped Kingston with the Big Ending afterwards.
-Jack Swagger(w/ Zeb Colter) d. Chris Jericho. Johnny Fandango(w/ dance partner) made a big entrance to distract Jericho, then stepped up to kick him off the ropes as he attempted the Lionsault(Zeb had the referee's attention). -Brodus Clay & Lord Tensai(w/ Funkadactyls) vs. The Rhodes Scholars(Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow)(w/ Bella Twins) ended in a no-contest when an attempted Bella distraction led to a CATFIIIIIGHT~!(tm Joey Styles) outside the ring. The guys left the match to break things up...

Comedy Part 481: After Midnight
Location: Fitz's
Emcee: Jon Venegoni
After: Ryan Dalton
Before: Jim Scariot
Went up fairly late in the show...tried to dust off some jokes that I hadn't done in a long time. The audience's attention was divided for a lot of the show, but I feel like I did okay under the circumstances. Had a good time...and got a new personal best on the Ms. Pac-Man game(279,100). To coin a phrase: Score. :-D

Pro Wrestling Collision #4
Commentators: Kevin Hunsperger & Jerome Cusson.
Kyle Sykes & K.C. Jackson vs. King ENT(Chase & Matt King): Chase is alone in the ring as his opponents enter...but Matt runs out to attack Sykes & Jackson from behind. The good guys turn the tide and Sykes hits Chase with an Asai moonsault to the floor! Things settle down into standard tag rules after the chaotic start...neither side holds the edge for too long. Sykes gets a flurry of offense, but Chase pins Jackson after their K-2 double-team finisher(modified F-5 by Chase spun into a Diamond Cutter by Matt). Sykes helps his partner to his feet afterwards...
The "all-star" trio of Hatton/O'Riley/Hills is ready for the main event...
El Matadoro is interviewed about his upcoming match but the language barrier is a slight problem...
Shane Rich vs. Blake Steel: This is Rich's first match in a long time due to an injury layoff. YAY WRESTLING~! Rich shows no signs of the dreaded ring rust, but Steel yanks him into the turnbuckles by the arm to slow him down. Rich rallies and gets a near-fall after a spinebuster but Steel stops him with a throat thrust. Rich escapes Steel's Apex Slam finisher and stuns him with an enzuigiri...but Steel blocks a superplex attempt. Cross-bodyblock off the second rope is caught(!) and Rich powers him into position for the TKO, then hooks a dragon clutch for the tapout!
Nicely done, but there's little time to celebrate as Bull Bronson attacks Rich as he's leaving the ringside area! Bronson abuses refs and security guards as they try to restore order...even ring announcer Bob Fester gets knocked down in the chaos. Promoter Chris Hagstron is irate and orders Bronson away from ringside, yelling that he has been SUSPENDED for his actions...
Frank Wyatt vs. El Matadoro: This is Wyatt's debut...he's a big boy at well over 300 pounds. Drew Robbins fills in as ring announcer in the absence of Bob Fester. It would appear that squash is in season...Wyatt destroys Matadoro both in and out of the ring. The referee finally puts on a five-count in the corner and Wyatt gets disqualified when he won't stop the beating. El Matadoro technically "wins", but he doesn't look like a winner as Wyatt dishes out more abuse after the bell.
Heavyweight Champion Heath Hatton, No Limits Champion Joey O'Riley, & Farmer Billy Hills vs. Team Overkill(Matt Cage, Christian Rose, & Zakk Sawyer): Plenty of history in this one...O'Riley beat Cage in the Collision Cup Tournament quarterfinals only to lose to Rose in the semis...Hatton defeated Rose in the finals. On top of that, Sawyer stole a win in a recent triple threat match involving Hills. Everyone gets a turn in the early action...Heath cleans house with dropkicks, then O'Riley hits all three heels with Samoan Drops before flattening them with a running shooting star press. Cage uses a unique kick combo to slow down Billy Hills, but Hills powers both Cage and Sawyer out of the ring. Heath low-bridges Rose out to join his partners, then Hatton dives off the apron onto all three! Joey follows with a huge no-hands plancha...it's breaking down in Carbondale! Will the farmer fly? YES, suicide dive!
The momentum shifts a few times in the next several minutes...O'Riley takes some punishment but Hatton tags into the fray and cleans house along with Billy Hills. Cage dumps Hatton out of the ring, leaving Hills on his own...Rose slams the farmer off the second rope, then Cage lands the Macho Elbow and Sawyer follows with a frog splash! Rose adds a corkscrew swanton bomb and covers but Heath just barely breaks up the pin. Unfortunately that leaves him in a three-on-one situation...he fights them off but the numbers catch up to him. Heath takes out Rose and Sawyer with a dual missile dropkick but Cage lariats him from behind...for two. Cage stuns him with a roundhouse kick but Heath blocks a double-underhook move to hit his falling DDT finisher! Heath tags in O'Riley to finish things but Rose tries to enter the fray with the ring bell in tow...in the chaos, the referee misses Sawyer punting O'Riley below the belt! Cage capitalizes with a Codebreaker on Joey for the cheap win...
Hatton isn't happy about how the match ended...he says he wants to fight Cage at the next show. Cage is fine with that but wants the belt to be on the line...Heath agrees to it and it would appear to be official. However, Cage crosses the line when he insults Hatton's young daughter...Hatton blows his top and the locker room empties to break up the ensuing brawl...

WWE NXT
Commentators: Tony Dawson & S. William Regal. Ring announcer: Byron Saxton.
Justin Gabriel vs. Leo Kruger: The South Africans have never seen eye-to-eye dating back to their FCW days...Regal says they even had the same trainer(Donny Britz). Headlock exchange to start...Kruger pulls the hair so Gabriel returns the favor, showing more aggression than usual. A shot to the throat slows Gabriel down and Leo targets the arm, keeping him down with an old-fashioned hammerlock. A mid-ring collision out of nowhere leaves both men down and they slug it out from their knees, but Kruger hits the spinebuster...for two. Leo goes for his London Dungeon submission hold but Gabriel backdrops his way out of the setup, starting the full-fledged comeback...a nice flying kick off the second rope gets a near-fall for Gabriel. Cue Educated Feet(tm Jim Ross)...but Leo still kicks out a two. Blue Thunder Bomb...gets two. Kruger tries to crawl out but Gabriel pulls him back in the ring to hit an STO. 450 Splash...no, Leo rolls to the apron, then thumbs Gabriel in the eye when he grabs him. Big clothesline from behind sets up the London Dungeon in the middle of the ring...but Gabriel somehow manages to reach the ropes! Unique hammerlock version of the Stroke sets up his finishing hold again...and this time Gabriel has nowhere to go but Tapout City. PSYCHOLOGY~!
Renee Young interviews Audrey Marie about her rivalry with Sasha Banks...now Sasha knows the identity of her rival and can't do anything about it.
Regal enters the ring to address his issue with Kassius Ohno...he apologizes for interjecting himself into Ohno's business in recent months. He doesn't want Ohno to turn into someone like him who has to live with a lifetime of regrets...this disappoints Ohno as he once idolized Regal. Ohno remembers traveling with that C.M. Punk guy to learn from Regal way back in the day...and Regal helped him get on WWE's radar. However, Ohno now feels like he doesn't need Regal's advice any more and thinks Regal has become a joke in the "twilight" of his career. Ohno says the legacy of Regal's career was joining Vince McMahon's "club"...prompting a punch that puts him on his backside! Ohno backs off as Regal agonizes over losing his cool once again...
Paige Knight vs. Bayley Rose: Bayley is making her NXT debut after working the indy circuit as Davina Rose...this is Paige's return to action after being injured by Summer Rae. It's no understatement that Paige is one of the most popular wrestlers on NXT, male or female. Bayley quickly targets the previously-injured arm and makes a fine accounting for herself...but Paige takes her down by the leg out of nowhere and gets the tapout with the Texas Cloverleaf. Summer Rae tries a run-in, but Paige sees her coming and Summer backs off.
Tag Team Champion Adrian Neville vs. Luke Harper(w/ Bray Wyatt & Erick Rowan): With Neville's partner Oliver Grey on the shelf thanks to the Wyatt Family, Adrian challenged one or both members of the Family to get his payback. Neville launches a dropkick right out of the gate but a simple fist to the face from Harper slows him down a bit. Neville tries to speed things up again with the Educated Feet, but he gets Stungunned and Protobombed...for two. Luke slows things down for a while and wears him with a Body Breaker, prompting Regal to drop Bruno Sammartino's name as The Living Legend once used that hold. Neville fights out but IT'S THE BIG FOOT...for two. Harper keeps going for pin covers, forcing him to exert energy to kick out...PSYCHOLOGY~! Neville finally rallies against his larger opponent with a big roundhouse kick from the apron, then a springboard dropkick...for two. Rowan approaches the ring but Neville sees him coming and takes him out with a somersault plancha! Low-bridge sends Harper to the floor and Neville follows him out with a springboard moonsault! Back in the ring, Neville tilt-a-whirls into a DDT as Wyatt's literally on the edge of his rocking chair seat...and he jumps up to argue with the ref as Neville goes to the turnbuckles. Neville fights off Rowan but Harper uses the opening to slam Neville off the top rope...discus lariat follows and that's the ballgame!
The Wyatt Family members look to do some post-match damage...the injured Oliver Grey tries to help but is quickly beaten down. Bo Dallas enters the fray and now IT'S BREAKING DOWN IN ORLANDO! The Tag Champs get it together long enough to double-clothesline Rowan out of the ring, leaving the good guys to stand tall at the end of the show.
Justin Gabriel vs. Leo Kruger: The South Africans have never seen eye-to-eye dating back to their FCW days...Regal says they even had the same trainer(Donny Britz).

Visited one of the newer open-mic shows in the St. Louis area...the bar was crowded but they paid attention to the show after a little while. Had a more traditional set on this night, mixing the newer material in with the tried-and-true jokes...I think I did pretty well. Now deciding on my plans for Thursday night...Fitz's? No Name Comix? Maybe both?

Location: Westport Funny Bone

I hadn't been to the Funny Bone in a few months...it had been called to my attention that I fall back on the "same old same old" far too often. Because of that, I made it my goal to ONLY do newer material. My set was shorter as a result...don't think I even saw the first light cue(my time was 3:01, I later learned). I need to motivate myself to write even though I haven't been going to as many shows recently...hopefully this vacation week will get the creative juices flowing again.

MMWA Special Comment
Say what you will about South Broadway(and many people do), but they draw good crowds and earning money is what counts in a business.
I like the booking lately...more coherent, good focus on the belts, AND they're making an effort to set up matches for the next show. Thumbs up to that. We've got Osborne-Jackson for the big belt, Espy-A.J. for the junior belt, Jimmy D-Blunt(plus James and Texan in the mix) for the T.V. belt, Kings-Lumberjacks for the tag belts(eventually)...not bad.
Mephisto's face turn is...interesting. Might be a tough sell but the first match went well enough. Wilder's pretty good for his limited experience level.
Re: Webmaster Stevie K...once again, the Power Glove fails to work.
If that was J-Mal Swag's first match ever, it was definitely a solid outing...will be interested to see how he does after this.
Brian James defeating The Big Texan definitely counts as a major upset in my book...perhaps putting himself in the mix of title contenders.
Heavyweight Champion Dave Osborne had other commitments this weekend, leaving KDHX poster boy Gary Jackson to face the challenge(?) of Flaming Freddie Fury instead...
Had a hunch about "Arachnia"'s true identity...no, no Brad Armstrong.
So they set up THREE matches for next month's show: Osborne-Jackson, Espinosa-Williams, and Blunt/James vs. D/Texan. That'll work!
Doing a comedy show on O'Fallon, IL this coming Saturday...there are no wrestling shows in the immediate area though Pro Wrestling Collision is in Carbondale that night. The following weekend has Central States Championship Wrestling's inaugural event in Swansea...interested in seeing that show.

Saturday MMWA Results From St. Louis, MO
Before A.J. Williams' opening matchup, Jr. Heavyweight Champion Brandon Espinosa attacked him which led to a wild pull-apart brawl. Commissioner Tim Miller ruled that the two would pick each other's opponents for the night under the threat of suspension if either man attacked the other again.
Mephisto d. Andrew Wilder with a Michinoku Driver. Before the match, Mephisto said he had spent more time with his family recently and wanted to turn over a new leaf, apologizing for his past underhanded actions.
Moondog Rover d. Webmaster Stevie K; after an epic battle between Moondog's bone and Stevie's Power Glove, Rover got the rollup pin.
Jr. Heavyweight Champion Brandon Espinosa d. J-Mal Swag in a non-title match after a superkick(perhaps sending a message to his rival A.J.).
Brian James d. The Big Texan; James withstood a chair assault outside the ring and scored the upset win with the sitout gourdbuster.
Gary Jackson d. Flaming Freddie Fury with the Texas Cloverleaf. Gary was upset that Heavyweight Champion Dave Osborne was not there to defend his title, but Tony Casta said that Osborne had contractual obligations elsewhere this weekend. Casta guaranteed that Jackson would get his title rematch at the April 6th show.
A.J. Williams d. Arachnia after the superkick. Arachnia was a "debuting" masked wrestler who gave Williams a good fight...but after the bell, he hit A.J. with a low blow from behind and unmasked to reveal that he was really Brandon Espinosa. In response, Tim Miller said that Espinosa must defend his title against A.J. at the April show!
Battle Royal Champion Chase King & Matt King fought The Lumberjacks(Abe & Gabe) to a no-contest; even two referees couldn't maintain order in this one as all four men brawled in and out of the ring.
Jimmy D d. Phil E. Blunt to retain the T.V. Title. The Big Texan interfered by hitting Blunt with a chair behind the referee's back, then tripped up Phil E. and held his foot as Jimmy D got the pin. Texan chokeslammed Blunt afterwards but Brian James ran off the heels...leading to a tag match being set up for the April show.

NXT + Impact
WWE NXT
Commentators: Tony Dawson & S. William Regal. Ring announcer: Byron Saxton.
Derrick Bateman vs. Kassius Ohno: Bateman was a surprise breakout performer on NXT4 but he's been plagued by injuries since that time. Ohno lures Bateman to the ropes and uses the CRAVATE~! to snap his throat off the top rope. Bateman has a solid outing and gets several near-falls out of his comeback. However, Ohno blocks the Sweet Meat Sizzler(had to look up the name of that move) and pushes him into the ropes for IT'S THE BIG FOOT...that's enough for the win. Ohno's not done as he glares in Regal's direction before locking Bateman in a version of the Regal Stretch...this prompts Regal to leave the broadcast position to break up the hold. Regal checks on Bateman and Ohno spins him around...only to get punched to the mat in response!
Renee Young interviews Bo Dallas...Bray Wyatt has got his attention.
Emma Tayla vs. Summer Rae: Regal apologizes for his "unprofessional" actions in the previous segment. I guess Emma's clumsy ring entrance is now a "thing" for her. After a good early run by Emma, Summer snapmares her into the bottom rope a few times to hurt the leg...she even uses a modified Indian deathlock. Summer does her own version of the primal scream to mock her rival Paige Knight, but that gives Emma a chance to fight back. However, a big spinning kick puts a stop to that and Summer gets the win. Match is over and heeeeere's Paige...Summer bails out of the ring in a hurry!
Renee interviews Tag Team Champion Adrian Neville...Oliver Grey is recovering from his injury from last week, but Neville wants to fight a member of the Wyatt Family next week.
Matt Striker interviews NXT Champion Big E Langston...his first title defense will be against Conor O'Brian and he vows to dominate.
Bo Dallas vs. Bray Wyatt: These two are blood brothers, but nowadays Bray has his own "family" and has cost Bo a few matches in recent weeks. They feel each other out in the opening minutes but Wyatt takes over with his size and power edge. Bray stops a rally with a big uranagi but it only gets a two-count. Avalanche sets up the Rapture but Dallas fights out of the move, then hits the snap belly-to-belly suplex for the win out of nowhere! It looks like this issue has been settled, but Luke Harper & Erick Rowan attack Bo from behind as he leaves the ring! Dallas fights off the assault and throws Rowan into Harper, but Wyatt catches him from behind with the Rapture...this feud MUST CONTINUE~!
Renee interviews Justin Gabriel about his feud with Leo Kruger...sounds like they'll meet again next week.
Ricardo Rodriguez introduces World Champion Alberto Del Rio for a friendly visit, but he's interrupted by U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro. Cesaro wants to fight Alberto tonight, but Commissioner Dusty Rhodes has a different champion-vs.-champion match in mind...CHALK UP~!
NXT Champion Big E Langston vs. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro, non-title: This will be the toughest test to date for Big E...but he manhandles Cesaro like any other opponent. Cesaro stuns the big man with his trademark European uppercuts, then avoids an avalanche before driving Langston to the mat with a knee from the ropes. Cesaro impressively executes his deadlift gutwrench suplex on Big E and then slows him down with a sleeperhold...but Langston fights back with clotheslines and knees to the gut. Vader Attack(called the E Train by Dawson) levels Cesaro...but Corey Graves runs in for the DQ! Langston mows him down with the E Train as well, but Conor O'Brian shows up to un-even the odds. The two join forces to beat down the champion as the show wraps up...

-Robbie Terry d. Robbie Eckos with a fireman's-carry spinebuster.
-James Storm d. Christopher Daniels(w/ Frankie Kazarian) after a backcracker. The Bad Influence duo attacked afterwards and A.J. Styles came out...he hit Kazarian as Daniels backed off, but then clotheslined Storm before leaving the ring.
-Sting d. Tag Team Champion Austin Aries(w/ Bobby Roode) by DQ when the Aces & Eights attacked Sting. Hulk Hogan brought out a bunch of wrestlers to fight but the biker gang dominated.

-Hot Commodity(Tommy Penirelli & C.B. Suave), Brandon Parker, & Kameron Kade d. The Movement(Najasism & The Vandal) & The Washington Bullets(Jon & Trey Williams) when Suave pinned Najasism after Parker's cradle DDT. A few miscommunications between the face duos led to their downfall...and the Bullets turned on Najasism & Vandal after they seemed to make peace.
-Miss Rachel introduced Jeff G. Bailey & Jagged Edge...Bailey cued up a pre-recorded message from Heavyweight Champion Shaun Tempers. Tempers said he's injured and wouldn't be able to defend his title against Bryan Cassanova as scheduled. Bailey wanted to send Jagged Edge after Cassanova, but Cassanova seems to be absent as well for unknown reasons.
-Anthony Henry d. Todd Sexton; Sexton had issues with senior referee Brent Wiley(acknowledged as Sexton's real-life brother) and Wiley blatantly ignored Sexton's Crippler Crossface to tie his shoe. Todd confronted him and Henry rolled him up for the pin with a fast three-count by Wiley. As Todd interrogated Wiley after the match, Miss Rachel(w/ Bo Newsom) came out and reminded him that he would be suspended if he touched an official. That led to Bo attacking Todd, but Sexton fought back until Newsom laid him out with a wooden drink holder.
-Billy Buck d. Jacoby Boykins after two Buck Wild superkicks to retain the T.V. Title.

SICW Special Comment
Honestly not much to talk about in this one...heh.
Texan seems to be getting some cheers in East Carondelet, interestingly enough...despite some shenanigans with Moondog's ever-present bone, Texan won fairly cleanly.
Powers and James seemed to work fairly well together. Out-of-nowhere spot of the night was Powers putting James through the timekeeper's table with a legdrop off the apron...OW.
Rudolph and Dirden as a tag team...THE BRODYS UNITE~! Heck, call them "The Bruisers" and it would still work.
Good push for the Hargas-Kasa feud as Hargas continues his comeback from injury.
Ricky Cruz has a full plate these days...he's got Kasa, Powers, Flanagan, and (to a lesser extent) Vaughn all gunning for his title.
They teased a fan lumberjack strap match for the April show between Cruz and Flanagan...hmm.
MECW on the 23rd was cancelled due to a venue conflict. They've got a decision to make about the Heavyweight Title as Eric Allen will be out of action for a while.
The rest of the month: MMWA on the 16th, CSCW on the 30th.

Pro Wrestling Collision #3
Commentators: Kevin Hunsperger & Jerome Cusson.
Hey, I recognize those two fans(Corey and Emily)!
Promoter Chris Hagstrom introduces Shane Rich as the newest official member of the roster...good to see him back after his long injury layoff. The fans seem to think he's ready to return, but taking on Bull Bronson is a tall order. Enter Blake Steel...haven't seen him in quite a while. Rich wants to make his return to the ring and Steel is happy to volunteer himself as an opponent...that'll work.
Justice vs. Blake Steel: Wonder if Justice takes exception to Rich casually referring to this as a "warmup" for Steel. Blake is billed as being from "the closest mirror". Steel surprisingly controls a lot of the match against his larger opponent...Justice overpowers him in his rally, but Steel is able to muscle him up into torture-rack position and dump him face-first to the mat for the hard-fought win.
Alex Castle & Angelus Layne vow to win the gold in PWC...
The Kings Of The Armory(Sugar Dunkerton & Aaron Epic) vs. Oliver Grimsley & Eddie Graves: Saw Dunkerton earlier in his career when he competed for NWA Anarchy as Kareem Abdul-Jamar...he's now a regular for CHIKARA. Grimsley seems to have a Clockwork Orange motif. Grimsley & Graves were trained by the Dudley Boys/Team 3-D, we are told. The match threatens to turn into a dance party in the early minutes, but both duos show solid teamwork. Epic fights off a double-teaming and makes the hot tag to Dunkerton...the basketball court is on fire! The KOA guys clean house and they finish Grimsley with a Lightning Spiral/lariat called the Clash Of The Demonhead...Sugar gets the pin, nicely done. Unfortunately the celebration is short-lived as the members of Team Overkill(Matt Cage & Christian Rose, w/ Zakk Sawyer) attack...the KOA members fight them off, but Sugar wants a match RIGHT NOW.
The Kings Of The Armory(Sugar Dunkerton & Aaron Epic) vs. Team Overkill(Matt Cage & Christian Rose)(w/ Zakk Sawyer): The KOA members do well early, but Sawyer runs interference so Rose can cut off Dunkerton's momentum. Cage headbutts Dunkerton, leading me to wonder about the sliding scale of headbutt effectiveness in this particular case. Epic finally tags into the match and all hell breaks loose...KOA hit a double Shellshock on Cage(complete with marching action) and the commentators joke that previous Ryback victim Heath Hatton should stay away from the ring for the moment. The good guys set up for their finisher(see previous match) but Cage pulls Sugar out of the ring and runs him into the guardrail...and Rose rolls up Epic with feet on the ropes for the cheap win.
Tag Team Champions Brandon Espinosa & Ace Hawkins are ready to defend their belts.
Mikey McFinnegan vs. Bull Bronson: "The Big Mustache On Campus" manages to not die for a little while...he even hides under the ring for his own personal safety. Facial hair has really become a "thing" in wrestling lately, whether it be beards or mustaches...though I don't think it's gonna help Mikey here. McFinnegan does far, far better than I would have guessed as he gets near-falls off a Steamboat Press and a Lionsault. However, a flying rana off the top rope is countered into a huge Demon Bomb and that's the ballgame.
Brandon Espinosa & Ace Hawkins vs. Alex Castle & Angelus Layne for the Tag Team Titles: This is a unique first defense of the belts for Espinosa & Hawkins against an intergender duo...the champs don't want to hit a woman so Castle starts the match. Despite a cheapshot or two by Layne, Castle takes a lot of abuse from Espinosa & Hawkins before Layne tags herself in. Ace hestitates and Castle hits him from behind, then Layne nails Espinosa when he stops his partner from hitting her. The challengers work on Espy for a while...he gets a few surprise pin combos on Angelus but she kicks out each time. A double-team nearly backfires but the referee misses Espinosa tagging in Hawkins...Espy hits Castle with a uranagi and Hawkins lands the swanton bomb, but Layne takes out Espinosa with the Victory Layne(TKO)!. Hawkins teases hitting her, but Castle accidentally takes out his own partner with a running boot! Ace throws Castle to the floor and gets the pin on Layne...the champs retain and Castle is not happy.
