WWE NXT
(Again, the edited version of the show left out some things and rearranged others...)
Commentators: Byron Saxton, Alex Riley, Renee Young, & Tom Phillips. Ring announcer: Alexa Bliss.
Last week: An unidentified off-camera interviews asks Antonio Cesaro about his recent encounter with S. William Regal. Cesaro says that he hope Regal knows better than to get involved in his business. Leo Kruger steps into the picture...they have a mutual enemy in Sami Zayn, who Kruger is facing next week. They start planning something, but finally remember the camera's presence and confer in private.
Paige Knight vs. Natalya Neidhart for the NXT Women's Title: This is a tough test for Paige against a former WWE Divas' Champion. Tense handshake to start, then YAY WRESTLING~! Paige breaks the stalemate with a headbutt and gets near-falls with an O'Connor Roll and jackknife cradle, but Nattie bridges out into a backslide for her own pin attempt. Paige gets a hold of the leg, but trash-talks rather than take advantage and Natalya turns it around into her own leghold. They settle into some mat wrestling until Nattie gets a rollup for two, then she goes for the Sharpshooter but Paige grabs for the ropes to escape.
Paige turns up the aggression to gain control...Riley tells us that Natalya turned a handshake offer into an armhold during the commercial break and Paige took offense. So who's the face in this one, anyway? Paige yanks the hair to keep Nattie down and that doesn't seem too sportsmanlike(sports-woman-like?). Hey, abdominal stretch, don't see that too often any more. Nattie fights out of the hold and reverses into her own...sounds like the fans are slightly in favor of Paige here. Paige hiptosses her way out of the hold and beats down Nattie in the corner, then knees her repeatedly in the ropes. However, Nattie grabs the leg again and takes Paige down to the mat...but they both hit the ropes and dueling cross-bodyblocks leave both women down. Paige misses a legdrop and Nattie rallies...snap suplex and Michinoku Driver(!) get two. Discus lariat...gets 2 1/2. Nattie gets the Sharpshooter this time and pulls Paige to the middle of the ring, but Paige is still able to crawl to the ropes...then uses her leg strength to pull Nattie into the turnbuckles! Both women are slow to get up...but Paige hits the Paige Turner out of nowhere and that's enough for a big win to retain her title! They make nice after the match...good for them.
Backstage: Alexander Rusev and Lana Perry chat in notEnglish. Tyler Breeze(still taking selfies) thanks Rusev for the help last week against Kassius Ohno...but Lana shoos him away even as he's inviting them to a party. "I'll send you the e-vite!"
Backstage, Dan Devone interviews Mojo Rawley. He's been on a roll and, yes, is still hyped. The promo is interrupted by Sylvester Lefort and Scott Dawson...Lefort wants to recruit Rawley, but Rawley feels like Lefort's been keeping money from his proteges. Dawson notes that the checks are sometimes late...or unsigned...but things are really cool with his manager! The checks are in the billbox! At any rate, we've got a match between these two set for next week.
Aiden English vs. This Guy Part Deaux: English's musical entrance cuts off his opponent's introduction...ah well. The fans indulge with dueling "Let's Go English"/"Let's Go This Guy" chants. Aiden wins with the Director's Cut(cobra clutch Side Effect) in short order and the fans do get their encore. He takes a bow and the fans throw roses into the ring.
As English leaves, Cesaro enters...he wants to apologize to Byron for mistreating him last week. He asks Byron to come to the stage...Byron is understandably hesitant but does take him up on the offer. They shake hands, but Antonio felt like he should have known better than to touch his flag. He apologizes in five languages...but he's not done as he wants Saxton to join him in a "We The People" salute. Byron puts his hand on his heart but doesn't sound too thrilled to recite the slogan, so Cesaro snaps on him again. He keeps looking to the entranceway for Regal to intervene, but he's not around this week so Cesaro slaps the taste out of Byron's mouth.
Last week: Our off-camera interviews asks Sami Zayn about the main event result. He's disappointed about losing, but he wishes Adrian Neville the best of luck and says he's still after Da Belt. Before he can wrap up his thoughts, Kruger ambushes him from behind...ta ta, Sami!
Tom Phillips steps in for Byron at this point...
Tyson Kidd vs. Leo Kruger: Kruger picked on the injured Kidd during an in-ring interview On This Very Program(tm) back in February, so we have this match. These guys start fast as Kidd has a lot of pent-up aggression to get out...Leo kicks him away for a moment but it doesn't last. Kruger finally roughhouses his way into an advantage...Kidd gets a boot up, but Leo grabs it and hits a leg Stunner!
Now Leo's focused on the previously-injured leg...he even gets Kidd in his own Sharpshooter! Sami Zayn suddenly appears at ringside, taking issue with the previous cheapshot...and Kidd gets Leo in a rolling prawn cradle for the flash pin!
Off-Camera Interviewer talks to Hunico & Donny Camacho about their non-title win over The Ascension last week...they get a shot at the belts next week.
Bo Dallas vs. Adrian Neville for the NXT Title: Neville defeated Zayn for this title shot after both got the same time in Beat The Clock. Riley tries to figure out the "Man Gravity Forgot" nickname for Neville, then teases Renee about her flirtatious conversation with Bo last week. YAY WRESTLING~! and FLIPPIES~! ensue, putting Dallas on the defensive right away...Adrian gets a few early two-counts and Bo rolls out of the ring to regroup. Adrian tries to break clean but Bo's not quite as nice, allowing him to get in a flying forearm for his own two-count.
Neville tries to fight out of a chinlock but gets repeatedly whipped into the turnbuckles...then Dallas follows up with a bulldog for two. Bo shows a bit of frustration when he can't put Neville away, but the DON'T STOP BO-LIEVING~! kneedrop off the middle rope hits nothing but mat. Adrian kicks the exposed knee en route to the comeback...educated feet fly, Bo rolls out, and Neville follows him out with a twisting somersault plancha! Neville throws him back in and covers...for two. Adrian slams him and goes up for the Red Arrow(corkscrew shooting star press) but Bo rolls out AGAIN...only for Neville to follow him to the floor again with a major plancha! Both men are down and the count nears ten...Neville beats the count and it looks like Bo's fully capable of doing so well, but he drops back to the floor instead! Neville wins by countout...but titles don't change hands that way and Bo Dallas retains the NXT Championship.
Next week: Zayn vs. Kruger, Ascension vs. Hunico/Camacho for the tag titles, Ohno vs. Rusev, Mojo vs. Dawson, and Summer Rae/Sasha Banks vs. Bayley Rose and a partner of her choosing.
TNA Impact
-Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz.
-Heavyweight Title Tournament Table Match: Jeff Hardy d. Bobby Roode. At one point both men fell off the apron and through a table at the same time, but the referee let the match continue until there was a definite winner. Hardy got the real win after kicking Roode off the apron, causing him to fall through a table on the floor.
-Ethan Carter III(w/ Rockstar Spud) d. Earl Hebner, forcing the senior referee to lay down while Earl's son Brian made the three-count.
-Tag Team Champions The Bro Mans(Robbie Eckos & Jessie Godderz)(w/ Shiima Xion) d. James Storm & Phil Gunner(non-title) by DQ. Storm hit the Last Call superkick on Jessie, but Robbie spit beer in Gunner's face and Gunner beat the hell out of him in response. The ref tried to pull Gunner off Robbie and Gunner shoved him away, resulting in the disqualification.
-Women's Champion Gail Kim(w/ Lei'D Tapa) d. Laura Dennis(Cherry Bomb)(non-title) after the Eat-The-Feet. O.D.B. saved Dennis from a post-match attack.
-Heavyweight Title Tournament Last-Man-Standing Match: Brutus Magnus d. Kurt Angle. The referee was bumped and Kurt hit the Olympic Slam, but Roode ran in to clothesline Angle from behind and lay him out with a Death Valley Driver. The referee recovered to count both men down and only Magnus got to his feet before ten. Roode jumped Kurt after the bell but Jeff Hardy made the save...leading to a staredown with fellow tournament finalist Magnus.
-Next week: The Feast Or Fired Match, Chris Sabin vs. Austin Aries for the X-Division Title, and Eric Young/Joseph Park vs. Bad Influence.
