NXT + Impact

WWE NXT

Commentators:  Tom Phillips, Alex Riley, & S. William Regal.  Ring announcer:  Byron Saxton.

The Ascension(Konnor O'Brian & Rick Viktor) vs. Hunico & Donny Camacho for the NXT Tag Team Titles:  Hunico & Camacho upset the champs two weeks ago in a non-title bout, so here's their title shot.  That upper body tattoo on Hunico looks familiar for some reason.  The champions don't have the usual intimidation advantage as Camacho goes toe-to-toe with Viktor right out of the gate.  Viktor takes a beating for the first few minutes of the match as Regal and Riley snipe at each other...fun.  Viktor finally stuns Hunico with a flying knee strike and that turns the tide in favor of the titleholders.

The Ascension members keep Hunico isolated...but Hunico rolls up Viktor and then deadlifts him up into a modified powerbomb!  It's time for a race to tag...and tags are made on both sides!  Camacho rallies against Konnor but Viktor gets involved...only for Hunico to pull him out of the ring.  However, Camacho whiffs on a corner move and Konnor plants him with a full nelson slam.  Viktor pulls Hunico off the apron to prevent a tag and Konnor Flapjacks Camacho on top of that.  Tag to Viktor, Fall Of Man(legsweep/flying European uppercut combo), and Viktor pins Camacho to retain the Tag Titles.

Kassius Ohno vs. Alexander Rusev(w/ Lana Perry):  Rusev beat up Ohno two weeks ago, costing him a match to Tyler Breeze...this stemmed from Ohno beating Rusev's time in the Beat The Clock Challenge.  Ohno's bandaged up from that assault and Rusev overpowers him in short order.  Rusev drops him with a fallaway slam that turns into a Samoan Drop in midstream...well done.  Bearhuggery ensues along with a more general attack on the back...Ohno fires off a forearm smash out of the blue and gets a small package for two, then a basement dropkick for two.  Despite that flurry, Rusev mows him down as he hits the ropes...he hooks the Accolade(camel clutch) and that's all she wrote.  Referees can't convince him to release the hold but Lana calls him off.  Fare thee well, Kassius Ohno...perhaps you were the Hero NXT needed but not the one it currently deserves.

Backstage:  Bayley Rose hugs it out with Natalya Neidhart...they're got a tag match tonight.

We recap last week's incident between Antonio Cesaro and Byron Saxton...what does Mr. Regal have to say about this?  Regal simply says that if Cesaro has a problem with him, there's no need to take it out on someone else.

Natalya Neidhart & Bayley Rose vs. The Beautiful Fierce Females(Summer Rae & Sasha Banks):  Bayley's still hugging Nattie as they walk down the aisle...heh.  Bayley grabs Sasha in a sleeper right away and rams her face into the mat, then tags in Natalya for a double suplex.  Summer tags in only to get a drop-toehold from Nattie, then Bayley gets the tag and it's Summer taking a double suplex.  Sasha gets a tag and SHE runs into a drop-toehold from BAYLEY...but Sasha blocks a boot and goes nuts with multiple back slaps...ow.  The BFFs isolate Bayley, but Bayley fights off Sasha and it's HOT TAG NATTIE~!  Snap suplex, Michinoku Driver, and discus lariat set up the Sharpshooter, but Summer immediately breaks that up.  Bayley tags herself in and nails Summer, but Sasha boots her in the gut and finishes with the Union Jack neckbreaker(now called Bankrupt).  Summer is wonderfully bitchy in her victory gloating...

Backstage:  Leo Kruger's on a quest to be a Real American and his path goes through Sami Zayn.  Ta-ta...

Mojo Rawley vs. Scott Dawson(w/ Sylvester Lefort):  Presumably Mr. Rawley remains hyped.  Dawson has been compared to Arn Anderson...that's high praise at this stage of his career.  Dawson is relentless for the first few minutes, but a blind charge hits turnbuckles and Mojo makes the comeback.  Flying hip-check sets up the Earthquake buttdrop(Hyperdrive) and that'll do it!  Lefort makes Rawley another monetary offer, but it only sets up a dropkick from the blind side by Dawson.  This feud...MUST CONTINUE~!

Next week:  Bo Dallas vs. Adrian Neville in a lumberjack match for the NXT Title, plus The Ascension members have issued an open challenge...well, ANYONE could answer THAT.  Also, Chief Operating Officer Triple H makes an appearance for the 200th episode of the show.

Sami Zayn vs. Leo Kruger:  Zayn beat Kruger in Beat The Clock, so Kruger responded by attacking Zayn back.  Zayn showed up during Leo's match last week and distracted him, leading to Leo losing to Tyson Kidd.  So IT'S ON~! and the two go straight to fisticuffs!  Kruger cuts off Sami's momentum with a huge spinebuster and kicks him to the floor...the fans chant OLE~! as they're apparently fans of Los Matadores.  Kruger takes the fight to Zayn in and out of the ring, including a slam on the floor...but Zayn fires off a dropkick to get some separation.  Leo rolls out to the floor but Zayn follows him out, throwing him back in for a Steamboat Press...and a two-count.  Zayn sets up his finishing ropewalk tornado DDT, but Leo has it scouted and SWEEPS THE LEG~! causing Sami to crotch himself on the top rope!  Kruger wipes him out with the SLICE~! lariat and that's enough for the win.

Kruger decides he's not done and lines up for another Slice, but Zayn ducks it and clotheslines Leo out of the ring...then nails the no-hands somersault plancha!  Sami wails on Kruger and the referee brigade arrives to restore order...this feud MUST CONTINUE~!

TNA Impact

-Commentators:  Mike Tenay & Taz.
-Eric Young & Joseph Park d. Bad Influence(Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian).  Young resorted to punching his own partner in the head to bust him open; that set him off and he cleaned house on Daniels & Kazarian, finishing off Kazarian with the Blackhole Slam.  Young said that the reason why Joseph Park could never find his brother Abyss was because...wait for it...Joseph Park IS Abyss.
-Ethan Carter III vs. Jeremy Borash(the latest hand-picked opponent of EC3) never started as Sting interrupted the proceedings.  Sting challenged Ethan to either face him right then and there or "take a chance" for the first time in his life by entering the Feast Or Fired match...EC3 elected to enter Feast Or Fired.
-O.D.B. confronted Women's Champion Gail Kim and Lei'D Tapa during Gail's usual open challenge...the numbers caught up to her until Madison Rayne made a surprise return for the save.
-Austin Aries d. Chris Sabin(w/ Velvet Sky) with the brainbuster to win the X-Division Title.
-Feast Or Fired Match:  Briefcases were retrieved by Ethan Carter III, Shiima Xion, Chavo Guerrero Jr., & Phil Gunner.  Other participants:  Ken Anderson(who was taken out by a Bully Ray piledriver on stage before the match started), Curry Man(who walked out since he got the "fired" briefcase in a previous one of these bouts), Shawn Hernandez, James Storm, Samoa Joe, X-Division Champion Austin Aries, Chris Sabin, Norv Fernum, and Dewey Barnes.  EC3 declined to take part in a dive sequence and went for a briefcase instead.  Xion dumped Fernum and Barnes to the floor to get his case.  Hernandez assisted Chavo in getting to his briefcase.  It looked like Storm had a clear road to the final case, but his tag partner Gunner cut him off and got it instead.
