Dynamo Special Comment

Now, as promised, a special comment about the Dynamo Pro Wrestling show on Friday, September 21st at the Concordia Turners Gymnasium in St. Louis, Missouri.

DISCLAIMER:  I'm biased.  Deal with it.

On the heels of The Snitch winning the Riot On The River Tournament, Dynamo returned to its new home venue with a big main event for the Heavyweight Title.  The D-1 and Tag Team Titles would also be on the line, though only the main event was announced ahead of time...onward!

Your ring announcer was Chris Roedel; your referee was Jay King.  We weren't set up to record commentary live as Luke Roberts was out of town.

Outtkast vs. William Meyers:  Myers made his in-ring debut at the Cinco De Mayo show in the battle royal, but I believe this was his first one-on-one match...he had a tough test ahead of him in the form of the experienced multi-time champion.  Myers had a size advantage and Outtkast wasn't able to manhandle him as easily as most opponents.  The former D-1 Champion had trouble lifting Myers into position for the Case Study, but managed to hit his finisher for the win in 5:00.

"The Valedictorian" Keon Option vs. Camaro Jackson vs. Tony Esteem:  Esteem gained an early advantage in this one by clipping Jackson's knee...surprisingly, the fan favorite Option had no qualms about focusing his attack on the leg after that point.  Perhaps the former Tag Champ is changing his attitude to achive glory in singles competition?  Option was essentially the man in the middle compared to the definite fan favorite Camaro Jackson and the established rulebreaker Esteem.  Jackson was able to take out Esteem with a Shining Wizard, but Option hit the axe kick on Jackson and stole the pin on Esteem in 8:47...sometimes it's the best opportunist who picks up wins in this style of match.

The Agents Of Chaos(Viktor Von Stein & Xavier Shadowz) vs. Jackal & "Mr. Mustache" Ricky Rodriguez for the Tag Team Titles:  Jackal & Rodriguez held a non-title win over the champions and also got the better of the titleholders in a few other recent situations, including Rodriguez eliminating Von Stein to win a battle royal in Grafton.  Unfortunately, a sleeping giant may have been awakened as Von Stein had become increasingly unhinged in that time...even his own allies hadn't been safe from his wrath.  The challengers had a sound strategy:  Isolate Shadowz and stay the hell away from Von Stein.  As you might expect, that only lasted for so long before the big man got into the fray and the champions took control.  The underdog challengers nearly pulled out the win, but Shadowz delivered a low blow to Jackal behind the referee's back...after the Agents hit their fireman's-carry Flapjack/Diamond Cutter combo, Von Stein got the pin on Jackal in 10:15 to retain the Tag Team Titles.

"The Little Blue Dragon" Tootie Lynn Ramsey vs. Savanna Stone:  These two have had several strong matches with each other in recent times, but Savanna has been undergoing an attitude change...she was definitely the more aggressive of the two on this night.  The match degenerated into a brawl that ended up on the entrance stage at one point!  Tootie gave Savanna a great fight but it wasn't quite enough on this evening; Savanna picked up the win with a top-rope dropkick in 7:35.  After the match, Women's Champion "The Empress Of Evil" Rahne Victoria attacked Tootie with her crutch (she had been recovering from a recent injury)...and Savanna simply allowed it to happen and walked away.  The long-time rivals seemed to be finding some common ground...

Intermission~!  Official Ben Simon Concession Count(tm):  Coca-Cola, blue Gatorade, and a hot dog (handshake not included).

Mike Outlaw vs. "The Heartthrob" Jaden Roller for the D-1 Title:  Roller had been impressive in recent Midwest outings and had also made appearances as an extra on WWE programming.  Things nearly strayed from PG content when Roller's tights were pulled down during a sunset flip attempt by Outlaw, leading to Roller competing for about a minute or so afterwards with his rear end exposed before finally readjusting himself.  Despite this momentary hangup, Roller nearly scored the win after a Flatliner but Outlaw kicked out at 2 1/2.  Outlaw would rally back into the fight, retaining his title after the Mafia Kick in 9:40.

"The Wind Of Destruction" Makaze vs. "Lights Out" Adrian Surge, lumberjack strap match for the Heavyweight Title:  This was essentially no-DQ with the rest of the locker room at ringside with leather straps to (theoretically) keep the competitors in the ring.  Of course, nowadays "lumberjack match" tends to mean "save the interfering parties the trouble of running down the aisle".  A trip-up by Viktor Von Stein set the wheels in motion and soon enough the lumberjacks were all fighting amongst themselves, leading to Surge diving off the top rope onto Makaze and the rulebreaking ringsiders!  Surge nearly won with a Death Valley Driver but Xavier Shadowz broke it up...Surge had the numbers against him, but he fought off the Agents Of Chaos and avoided a chair attack by Makaze before hitting the spinebuste for the win and a NEWWWWW Dynamo Pro Heavyweight Champion in 11:18!  The long chase finally paid off with Surge ending Makaze's 328-day reign!

I'm in the middle of a triple-header weekend of wrestling as I wrap this up...hopefully I can eventually find the spare time to get (more) caught up.  I want to give most of these shows their just due, after all.
