Threw out a few random ideas during my set...have a few things I want to write out in the near future.  Glad my car issues weren't too serious...I want to get to more shows but I also want to conserve gasoline(and thus money) to some extent.  Guess we'll see how the summer pans out...

-A.J. Styles d. Tag Team Champion Christopher Daniels(w/ Frankie Kazarian) after the Asai moonsault/inverted DDT.  Daniels & Kazarian attacked after the match; Kurt Angle made the save but the numbers caught up to him as well and both men were left laying after being BELTed.

Comedy Part 453: O'Shay's

Location:  O'Shay's
Emcee:  Marcus Newstead
After:  Kelsey McClure
Before:  None(on last)

Didn't make the list at the Funny Bone, so I decided to check out the weekly open-mic at O'Shay's since I didn't have to work the next day.  Unfortunately the audience had thinned a bit by the time I got on stage, so not many of the remaining people were still paying attention.  Also reeeeeally needing to write out some new jokes...I have some ideas in mind, anyway.  Onward to Etc.!

WWE Raw

-Commentators:  Jerry Lawler & Michael Cole.
-Alberto Del Rio(w/ Ricardo Rodriguez) d. U.S. Champion Santino Marella(non-title) with the cross-armbreaker takedown.
-"R-Truth" Ron Killings & Kofi Kingston d. Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger(w/ Vickie Guerrero) to retain the Tag Team Titles when R-Truth pinned Swagger after the Paydirt.
-Daniel Bryan d. WWE Champion C.M. Punk in a non-title match; A.J. Lee came out during the match in a Punk T-shirt.  Bryan got the win after dropping Punk face-first on an exposed turnbuckle(Bryan had removed the pad earlier).  Kane attacked Bryan with a chair after the match and chokeslammed him on the chair, but A.J. passed another chair in to Punk who used it to fight off Kane.
-Intercontinental Champion Christian Cage d. Mike Mizanin(non-title) with the Killswitch followed by the frog splash; Cody Rhodes did commentary for the match.  Miz complained after the match about not being rewarded for his contribution to Team Johnny at WrestleMania...so Randy Orton came out to give him an RKO.
-World Champion Sheamus O'Shaunessy d. David Otunga(non-title) via Brogue Kick.
-Brodus Clay(w/ Funkadactyls) vs. The Big Show never started as Show destroyed Brodus at ringside, then laid out R-Truth and Kofi when they tried to help.

AAPW TV

-Bull Bronson d. Chocolate Thunder.
-Jay Spade d. Matt Cage by DQ to advance in the No Limits Title tournament.
-G.T. Vega d. Zakk Sawyer.
-Livewire McGuire fought Jeremy Wyatt to a no-contest to retain the Heavyweight Title; this was the match where Wyatt broke a bone in his leg, putting him on the shelf for several months.  The  no-contest came about when Mike Masters got involved in the match and then got into a fight with a ringside fan(leading to Masters being fired from the promotion).

FCW TV 5/27

Commentators:  Jim Ross & Chris Russo.  Ring announcer:  Caylee Turner.

Mike Dalton, C.J. Parker, & Jason Jordan vs. Alexander Rusev, Jiro Takizawa, & Garrett Dylan:  This is the in-ring TV debut for Dylan...he's the son of actor Kris Kristofferson.  J.R. jokes that Dylan's the only heel without a flag and Jiro's the only heel without a last name, then follows up by saying that Dylan seems to resemble someone famous...heh.  Jordan ends up in the wrong corner after Jiro distracts him, allowing Dylan to deliver an old-school Stungun.  Dalton escapes that predicament to tag in Dalton...the house is on fire!  Rusev puts a stop to that by shoving Dalton off the top rope...that'll alter the momentum a bit.  Rusev overpowers Dalton with a chain of four hiptosses in a row...nicely done.  Dalton finally gets out of trouble with an enzuigiri on Dylan, then makes the tag to Parker!  C.J. dropkicks Rusev and Jiro off the apron, then delivers a swandive headbutt on Dylan but Rusev and Jiro break up the pin attempt.  Dalton and Jordan deal with the outside parties with a pair of suicide dives but Dylan yanks Parker by the hair...only to fall prey to a victory roll from the mat for the flash pin!

Aiden English vs. Leo Kruger:  Haven't seen much of English...he's got a tough test against the former two-time Heavyweight Champion.  Russo mentions Kruger's championship banner, causing me to realize that Seth Rollins doesn't have a banner yet...hmm.  Kruger busts out the stump puller(tm Evil Doink The Clown)...wow.  Kruger dominates the matchup but things go awry when he delivers a flying gutdrop to English's fist...however, Kruger cuts him off in short order with a spinebuster.  One sleeperhold later, Kruger secures the victory.

Kassius Ohno enlightens us, addressing his old friend Antonio Cesaro.  Cesaro cost him last week's contenders' tournament match and Ohno vows to get revenge by knocking him out.

Raquel Diaz vs. Paige Knight(w/ Sofia Cortez) for the Women's Title:  So who's the face in this matchup?  Paige turns up the aggression, shifting the fan sympathy in Raquel's direction...but a superplex fight turns into a sunset bomb of sorts from Diaz.  Raquel comes back with some Eddy mannerisms leading into a legdrop, then the Three Amigos...for two.  Sofia gets a chair as Diaz sets up the Gory Bomb, then distracts the ref while sliding the chair into the ring.  Raquel gets the chair first...but throws it to Paige and falls to the mat.  The ref turns around...and guess what he thinks.  Raquel wins by DQ to retain her title, taking a page out of her father's playbook!

Briley Pierce & Colin Cassady enlighten us with newfound New York accents...

Seth Rollins vs. Bo Rotundo for the Heavyweight Title:  Rotundo is going for an unprecedented third FCW Title win...his previous reign did not end in the ring as he forfeited the belt due to injury.  Big ol' staredown sets the tone during the ring introductions, but they do shake hands before the matchup.  Extended lockup to start...YAY WRESTLING~!  The commentators note that Bo's wrestling for the third straight week, plus Rollins had a tough non-title match with Big E Langston last week.  Seth gets the edge by transitioning from an O'Connor Roll attempt straight into a back suplex...he keeps Bo grounded on the mat but Bo counters a headscissors into a bridging pin attempt...for two.  Jackknife cradle...for two.  Rotundo goes on offense but Seth blocks the bulldog, then Bo blocks a superkick to hit the bulldog on the second try.   Bo lines up for the spear, but Seth leapfrogs him and Bo tumbles through the ropes for the floor.

Rollins follows him out with the suicide dive as J.R. wonders if Seth's back is still bothering him from last week's match.  The count is on, but both men re-enter the ring before ten.  Advanced curbstomp misses, spear is countered by a leapfrog and rollup attempt, but Bo rolls through only to eat the Avada Kedava...for 2 1/2!  A kick combo sets up another advanced curbstomp attempt but Rotundo blocks it, then a mid-ring collision leaves both men down again.  Seth fights back from the apron and goes to the ropes but Bo cuts him off...Rollins fights him off and sets up a Phoenix Splash...Bo rolls away but Seth lands on his feet, only to be caught with a spear off the ropes!  Cover...for 2 1/2!  Seth rolls to the floor to regroup and Rotundo interrupts the referee's ten-count because he wants to win it in the ring.  Bo throws him back in but Seth small-packages him...for two.  Spear misses and Bo eats turnbuckles, allowing Rollins to finally hit that advanced curbstomp...but he can't cover right away and only gets 2 1/2!

The two fight to their feet and slug it out...Seth finally hits an enzuigiri and then a turnbuckle powerbomb!  God's Last Gift hits and that finally gets the three-count for Seth Rollins to retain his title!

So long from the Sunshine State!

NWA Anarchy TV #330

-Commentators:  Tim E.D. & John Johnson.
-Vandal & Brandon Parker d. Zach Daniels & Joey Rhymer when Vandal pinned Rhymer after the Eye Of The Hurricane.
-Jeff G. Bailey enlightened us...in the background:  NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion/NWA North American Champion Shaun Tempers, Tag Team Champions Se7en & Bryan Cassanova, Bo Newsom, Jacoby Boykins(w/ John Johnson), and Jerry Palmer.  Palmer said he would talk to Shadow Jackson again, then drew the battle lines...you're either with the NWA Elite or you're against them.
-C.B. Gibson(w/ Tommy Daniels) d. Jacob Ashworth(w/ Skirra Corvus); the referee got distracted by Corvus chasing Daniels around the ring, giving Daniels the opening to hit Ashworth with a low blow.  That set up Gibson's rollup pin for the victory.
-The Hate Junkies(w/ Dan Wilson) d. Tag Team Champions Se7en & Bryan Cassanova(w/ Jeff G. Bailey) by DQ when Jacoby Boykins ran in after the Junkies hit a lariat/spear combo on Cassanova; The NWA Elite members retained the titles due to the disqualification.  The Urban Assault Squad and Brodie Ray Chase made the post-match save and Brodie joined Tim E.D. in the broadcast booth for the main event...
-Jacoby Boykins(w/ John Johnson) d. Nemesis(w/ Shadow Jackson); Palmer came out to talk with Shadow, leading to a ringside argument.  Nemesis was distracted and fell prey to Boykins' powerslam for the three-count.
-Backstage, Jackson confronted Palmer but was assaulted by the NWA Elite before he could put his hands on the former promoter.  Palmer delivered the finishing blow with his axhandle before Nemesis and the other wrestlers arrived to run off the heels.

FCW TV 5/20

Commentators:  Chris Russo & Byron Saxton.  Ring announcer:  Caylee Turner.

Corey Graves & Jake Carter(w/ Abraham Washington) vs. The Ascension(Conor O'Brian & Kenneth Cameron) for the Tag Team Titles:  The Ascension members set up for a Doomsday Device on Graves, but Carter clips O'Brian behind the referee's back as A.W. has the referee's attention.  That allows the champs to hit an over-the-shoulder powerslam/DDT combo to give Graves the pin on Conor.

Women's Champion Raquel Diaz enlightens us...she's happy about not having a title defense but Paige Knight(w/ Sofia Cortez) comes out to issue a challenge.  Sounds like a match for next week.

Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins vs. Big E Langston, non-title:  The commentators wonder about the wisdom of taking this matchup when Seth has a title defense next week.  Rollins has an uphill battle against a much larger opponent, but he hangs onto the ropes to escape a Big Ending attempt.  He shoves Langston off into the turnbuckles, then delivers a spinkick to the gut and follows up with the advanced curbstomp to get the duke.

Antonio Cesaro addresses the unwashed masses; he feels like he was cheated in last week's matchup against Kassius Ohno.  He says we've seen the last of him in FCW...we shall see.

Richie Steamboat vs. Brad Maddox for the FCW 15 Title:  These matches are normally very technical in nature, but Maddox prefers to play the chicken heel role and immediately goes into duck-and-run mode.  The strategy pays off as Brad avoids a blind charge into the corner and Steamboat hits the ringpost shoulder-first...Maddox follows up with a single-arm DDT and targets the arm.  Richie fights back but Maddox hits the Dealbreaker(running jumping reverse Stunner) out of nowhere for the first fall at the three-and-a-half-minute mark!

The referee backs Maddox off and gives Steamboat a moment to collect himself...but Brad immediately goes back on the attack.  Maddox goes for a submission with a Fujiwara armbar but Steamboat escapes that predicament and fires back.  Powerslam out of nowhere cues the comeback...he hits the spinaround neckbreaker, then follows up with the superkick to even the score at the seven-minute mark!

Maddox shoves Steamboat off the top rope to the floor to regain his advantage, getting a close near-fall as we hit the ten-minute mark.  Maddox goes back to the arm, but toys with him a bit too much and Richie gets an O'Connor Roll...for two.  The kickout sends Steamboat throat-first into the middle rope and Brad capitalizes with a Flying Jalapeno...for two.  Brad ditches the gameplan out of nowhere to hook a half-crab...well, it does potentially neutralize the superkick.  Three minutes to go and Steamboat barely reaches the ropes to escape.  Brad talks trash and goes for the half-crab again but Steamboat small-packages him...for two.  Two minutes left.  Panic mode hits as Maddox desperately hooks a camel clutch...but now there's only one minute to go and Richie gets to the ropes again.  Brad seems to be out of ideas and continues to talk trash, then leaves the ring and goes for a chair.  He wastes too much time and is met with a superkick on re-entry, but the time expires before Richie can get a fall so it's a 1-1 draw and Steamboat retains the medallion.

Bo Rotundo vs. Kassius Ohno, Contenders' Tournament:  The winner of this match challenges Seth Rollins for the Heavyweight Title next week; Rotundo beat Leo Kruger and Ohno got a questionable DQ win over Cesaro to reach this point.  If I'm not mistaken, Rotundo is vying for his first title shot since forfeiting the belt due to injury.  Russo notes that the winner will move on to his third match in as many weeks against Seth, so that person may be worn down a bit...PSYCHOLOGY~!  In the meantime, YAY WRESTLING~! as the two trade holds and near-falls on the mat.  Ohno gets the advantage with a Buff Blockbuster, then focuses his attack on the head and neck.  CRAVATE~!  Kassius controls the pace, but Rotundo cuts him off and catapults him into the turnbuckles...time for El Big Comeback!  Powerslam...gets two.  Corner clothesline hits but the bulldog is blocked and Ohno rolls him up...for two.  O'Connor Roll...for two.  Roaring elbow is ducked, but Ohno blocks Bo's O'Connor Roll attempt and blasts him with a basement dropkick!  Bo rolls all the way out of the ring after that, then Ohno drops him with a huge dropkick through the ropes.  Kassius sends him back into the ring, but Cesaro suddenly appears to bash Ohno with his satchel while the referee is with Bo!  No one in the ring saw the interference...and Bo takes what is offered and covers Ohno for the three-count to win his title shot!

Next week:  Seth Rollins vs. Bo Rotundo for the Heavyweight Title, plus Raquel Diaz vs. Paige Knight for the Women's Title.  So long from the Sunshine State!

ROH + SICW

ROH TV

-Commentators:  Kevin Kelly & Nigel McGuinness.
-This episode featured highlights of the Border Wars iPPV, including Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas regaining the Tag Team Titles from the Briscoe Brothers in a Fight Without Honor(after Haas choked out Mark Briscoe with an ether-soaked rag).
-Rough few weeks for Davey Richards heading into Border Wars...auto accident, Kyle O'Reilly not in attendance due to a death in his family, Jim Cornette not in attendance due to problems at the border.  In other words, Davey won't have anyone watching his back during the main event.
-Kevin Steen(w/ Jimmy Jacobs) d. Davey Richards to win the Heavyweight Title; the piledriver was legal for the match.  Steve Corino sat with the commentary team but didn't say a word.  The turning point of the match came when Richards had Steen in the anklelock and Steen hung onto the turnbuckles in an attempt to escape, pulling the middle pad off the bolt.  Steen kicked Richards away, causing him to hit his head on the exposed steel...he followed up with a sleeper into a German suplex, then the package piledriver to win the match.  Promoter Cary Silkin refused to present the belt to the champion(as he's always done in the past) and Corino entered the ring to confront Steen...only to embrace the new titleholder.

Feature:  Brent Terhume
Headliner:  Matt Holt

Between the Foam show and tonight's guest set, recent Fridays haven't exactly been a confidence booster with regards to audience reaction.  They didn't get too energetic at all tonight, though Brent and Matt got some good laughs.  Hopefully I can get some new jokes written in the near future and pull out of this mini-slump I've been in.

Comedy Part 451: Throwbacks

Location: Comedy Etc. II
Emcee: Andrew Hagen
After: Ryne O'Burns
Before: Spud

Since I haven't written a lot of new jokes lately, I've been trying to dust off older material and improve it. It's funny to realize that some of the newer comics hadn't heard those particular bits. I am working on a few new ideas...trying to do more material based on my personal interests. It helps to connect to the audience on some level...I remember a recent Funny Bone show where people specifically mentioned a Transformers reference in one of my jokes. Perhaps that's the creative path I should be taking...we shall see.

NWA Anarchy TV #329

-Commentators:  Tim E.D., John Johnson, & Brett Wolverton.
-Steven Walters d. C.B. Gibson via elevated DDT.
-Seth Delay d. Brandon Parker with the Macho Elbow to retain the T.V. Title.
-Tommy Daniels(w/ cane) came out to give his partner Gibson a pep talk, then called Jacob Ashworth to the ring as well.  Ashworth wasn't buying what Daniels was selling...but then Gibson turned on Ashworth!  Gibson and Daniels hit Ashworth with Total Elimination...Skirra Corvus made the save but Daniels laid him out with the cane and they hit Corvus with a Rockerplex for good measure.
-The Urban Assault Squad members conferred backstage only to cross paths with the NWA Elite(Se7en, Bryan Cassanova, & Jerry Palmer).  Palmer made a sales pitch to Shadow Jackson based on their past alliance...of course Shadow had no interest in joining Palmer's side.
-NWA Anarchy Heavyweight/NWA North American Champion Shaun Tempers, Tag Team Champion Se7en, Bryan Cassanova, Bo Newsom, & Jacoby Boykins(w/ Jeff G. Bailey & Jerry Palmer) d. Azrael, The Urban Assault Squad, & The Hate Junkies(w/ Dan Wilson); Palmer hit Shadow in the previously-injured ankle with his axhandle, allowing Boykins to get the win with a powerslam.  The post-match heel beatdown commenced but Mikael Judas arrived to help...then Brodie Ray Chase announced Tempers vs. Azrael for the Heavyweight Title at the next show.

SICW Special Comment

Strong turnout(said to be around 300) for the show in East Carondelet featuring an appearance by Gerald Brisco as well as the final blowoff to the Ron Powers/Ricky Cruz feud. It was noted to me that this would be the night to make a strong showing since Brisco could give you a good recommendation in WWE...

Don't know how much the opposide sides of the MMWA/SICW promotion reflect on each other, but Max Archer and LaMarcus Clinton have been feuding on the SICW side for a few months. LMC challenged Archer for the MMWA Jr. Heavyweight Title the previous week in a losing effort but pinned him in the tag match here. On a side note, LMC recently made his OVW debut against Rob Terry...congrats to him on that milestone.

Texan and Bobby D have fought about five hundred times in the past several years...still never quite expect Bobby to pull off aerial moves like the somersault plancha that started the matchup.

Travis Cook returned to managing at last month's show and re-aligned himself with old protege Dave Vaughn...most tremendous. Good matchup with a double countout finish so the feud MUST CONTINUE~!

Ken Casa made his SICW debut and picked up his first win since his return to action...good to see. Getting used to the John Wu Dropkick as a finisher.

Waco pinned Chaz in the tornado tag match last month, so CONTINUITY~! as they fought one-on-one this month. Solid matchup with Wesson evening the score on this occasion.

Don't recall if Shorty has worked SICW in the past; I think this was my first time seeing him in a match in East Carondelet. Rudolph has improved in the ring, good for him.

Had seen Wes Brisco a handful of times on FCW TV...I don't know why he was released but it did seem like he was injured a lot. They seem to be working on a face turn for Vincent but he had to be the subtle heel for this matchup...they did shake hands after the match and Gerald Brisco raised both of their hands.

Powers had been champion for slightly over a year and Cruz has been chasing him for a good portion of that title reign. Gary Jackson was the referee and allowed a lot of leeway since it was Ricky's last shot at the title...he even let it go when Powers delivered a blatant low blow and when Texan & Waco interfered. Eventually he did get fed up and ejected the masked men from ringside, leading to the finishing sequence with several good near-falls. Nice to see a special guest ref play it straight for a change.

I mentioned a few times that it's rare to see a long-term feud play out in independent wrestling...especially with all the conflicts that arise from overlapping show dates, travel problems, etc. It's also refreshing to see the face decisively win a feud...nowadays, that seems to have been labeled "predictable".

Anywho...no local shows on Memorial Day weekend. Will be back in the swing of things for June with Dynamo and IHW, among others.

WWE Raw

-Commentators:  Jerry Lawler & Michael Cole.

-Daniel Bryan d. Kane by DQ; WWE Champion C.M. Punk did commentary for the match.  Punk got up with a chair(looking for payback from Smackdown) but Bryan took it away from him...only for Kane to see him with the chair and attack.  Kane laid out Bryan with the chair(getting disqualified) and chokeslammed Bryan twice...Punk "checked on" Bryan after the match and then locked him in the Anaconda Vise.

FCW TV 5/13

Commentators:  Chris Russo & Byron Saxton.  Ring announcer:  Caylee Turner.

Kassius Ohno vs. Antonio Cesaro:  The Kings Of Wrestling explode!  This is part of a four-man mini-tournament with the winner getting a shot at Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.  They tease their finishers early but THEY KNOW EACH OTHER~! so they settle into a technical exchange.  YAY WRESTLING~!  Ohno gets off a Flying Jalapeno but Cesaro yanks him into the turnbuckles to halt his momentum.  Ohno flips over the ropes in an impressive feat of agility...he backdrops Cesaro the floor, fakes him out with a backflip off the middle rope, then finishes with a huge baseball slide through the ropes!  The ref has to force a break, allowing Cesaro to sneak in a thumb to the eye.

The fans seem to have chosen Ohno as their favorite in this matchup...Cesaro backdrops him but Ohno somehow comes up with a sunset flip for two.  Cesaro cuts him off and impressively hits the deadlift gutwrench suplex...for two.  Cesaro maintains control for a while, but Ohno raises the knee to block an elbowdrop.  Ohno rallies and hits a flippy CRAVATE~! neckbreaker...for two.  Roaring elbow is countered by a drop toehold that sends Ohno throat-first into the middle rope...Cesaro rolls him up with a handful of tights...for two!  Cesaro rushes him with a huge spinebuster...for two!  Neutralizer is countered with a double-leg pin...for two.  They trade BOOTs and Ohno readies the roaring elbow...but Cesaro pulls the ref into the knockout blow!  The match degenerates into a huge brawl as two other refs enter the ring to check on their compatriot...finally the locker room empties to separate the combatants!  The bell rings...so what's the decision?  The referee rules that Ohno wins by DQ since Cesaro put his hands on the referee...but that doesn't end the war between Ohno and Cesaro!  Order is finally restored...Ohno advances in the contenders' tournament.

Benicio Salazar vs. Bray Wyatt(w/ Eli Cottonwood):  Wyatt enlightens us before the match and shakes the luchador's hand.  From there, squash is in season as Wyatt destroys Salazar in short order, finishing with the Rapture(Wave Of The Future).

Brad Maddox enlightens us...he has a shot at FCW 15 Champion Richie Steamboat next week.  They have some history as Brad has been on the receiving end of Steamboat's superkick on more than one occasion.  Maddox feels like he's got the advantage because he has nothing to lose...we shall see.

FCW 15 Champion Richie Steamboat vs. Rick Victor(w/ Sofia Cortez & Paige Knight), non-title:  Victor has Steamboat well-scouted as he avoids the ARMDRAG~!, but Richie hits it on the second try.  Victor turns it around by pulling Steamboat backwards into the turnbuckles, keeping him grounded for several minutes.  Richie powerslam him out of nowhere and mounts the comeback, hitting the spinaround neckbreaker...for two.  Third floor...but the ladies distract him and Victor blasts him with a huge European uppercut!  Victor capitalizes with a double-underhook powerbomb...but can't cover right away and Steamboat kicks out at 2 1/2.  Victor goes for a chair, but it's a ploy to distract the ref as Paige holds Steamboat for a flying rana off the turnbuckles from Sofia!  Victor runs back in for the cover...for 2 1/2!  Double-underhook powerbomb...is blocked and Richie maneuvers into position to nail the superkick for the win!  Steamboat barely has time to celebrate before Maddox runs in to drop him with the Dealbreaker(jumping reverse Stunner)...Brad grumbles that he has to wait a week before their actual match, then takes his leave.

General Manager Summer Rae interviews Tag Team Champions Corey Graves & Jake Carter along with their manager Abraham Washington.  Next week, Graves & Carter defend against The Ascension(Conor O'Brian & Kenneth Cameron), hyped as "undefeated"...busy show.

Bo Rotundo vs. Leo Kruger, contenders' tournament:  A LOT of history here as they feuded when Bo was champion...Kruger claimed credit for the injury that ended Rotundo's title reign in a forfeiture.  Bo's temper immediately gets the best of him and Kruger takes a cheapshot over the referee's shoulder.  Rotundo turns it around and goes on offense, planting him with the bulldog and setting up for an early spear attempt...but Leo rolls to the ropes for safety.  Kruger dumps Bo to the floor, then works on the neck to wear him down for a potential sleeperhold.  CRAVATE~!  Leo blocks a re-entry sunset flip and holds the ropes, but the ref catches the cheating and Rotundo completes the move...for two.  Kruger quickly cuts him off but can't keep him down...John Wu Dropkick(!) gets a two-count.  Final Destination(swinging fisherman buster)...only gets 2 1/2!  Leo gets frustrated and pummels Bo on the mat, then catches him in the sleeperhold...but Bo runs him into the turnbuckles to escape.  They trade countermaneuvers and Kruger hits the ropes...only to get SPEARED on the rebound for the Rotundo victory!

Next week:  Bo Rotundo vs. Kassius Ohno in the contenders' tournament, Richie Steamboat vs. Brad Maddox for the FCW 15 Title, and Corey Graves & Jake Carter vs. The Ascension for the Tag Team Titles.  So long from the Sunshine State!

This was my first time at the venue...fun show for the most part. Oh well...just shows me that I need to do more bar shows and longer sets. I don't feel like I did well on this night...not much I can do about that but live and learn.

Cactus-Clotheslined Tommy "Crimson" Mercer over the top rope and went out to the floor themselves.  X-Division Champion Austin Aries threw out Brutus Magnus.  Robbie Eckos threw out his own bouncer Robbie Terry from behind, but then T.V. Champion Brother Devon eliminated Eckos.  Garett Bischoff low-bridged Devon out of the ring, but was quickly tossed out by Styles.  Styles and Aries had a great exchange but Phil Gunner threw Aries out of the ring to eliminate him...then A.J. followed by dumping Gunner to the floor for the win.
-Jeff Hardy d. Ken Anderson; Anderson hit a Regal Roll but Hardy countered the pin attempt into a crucifix for the three-count.
-Gail Kim won a triple threat match with Velvet Sky and Brooke Tessamacher to retain the Women's Title; Velvet hit the In Yo Face(sitout Pedigree) on Brooke but Gail threw Velvet out of the ring and stole the pin on Brooke.
-Kurt Angle d. Samoa Joe by fighting out of the muscle buster setup and getting a sunset flip/rollup pin.

Comedy Part 449: Added Again

Location: Comedy Etc. II
Emcee: J.C. Sibala
After: Jerry Files
Before: Josh Slobe

Once again, glad to be added to the existing list for a show this week. Doing a longer set for the first time in a while on Friday at Foam, so wanted to dust off some material I hadn't used in a while. Fun audience for the show. Not sure if I'll make it to any of the weekend shows(Marc Price & Rain Pryor) since I'll be at Foam on Friday; may try to make it to the late show on Saturday(traffic permitting)...

Comedy Part 448: Ending The Night

Location: Westport Funny Bone
Emcee: Joe Lehnig
After: Charlie Winfrey
Before: None(on last)

Glad to get penciled in last night...feel like I did okay. Never ended on the wrestling joke before but it seemed to work in that spot. Lately I've been a bit frustrated because I haven't written a lot of new jokes and don't feel like I've been progressing with regards to my comedy performances. Maybe a break would be a good idea...I've been occupied with a lot of other things lately.

MECW Special Comment

Another good crowd at MECW.

The Sarin Sinn ownership storyline seems to have been swept under the rug. Commissioner Bailey Mannix ran the show with Mr. K out of town, Eric Allen's Heavyweight Title win wasn't overturned, Justin Reno was suspended for "two shows", and it seems like Shawn Santel is now officially Tag Champ with Mike Anthony.

The ref seemed like he was a bit green...I thought it didn't look that professional for someone to officiate the matches in jeans and a T-shirt. I can appreciate plugging the sponsor for the show, but still...

Ace Hawkins made a reference to his WWE PPV appearance, noting before the handicap match that "two is greater than one". When Anthony and Santel saved Logan from a Conchairto, they joked that "three is greater than two". :-D

In general, the wrestling was good...there were rough spots but that happens sometimes. Maybe I'm too forgiving in that regard(and that's been pointed out to me recently). On the other hand, so-called "smart marks" are often accused of being too negative and watching just to complain about the product...and I don't want to be that way. Gotta find that middle ground, you know? Of course, I'm sure a comment about how I've never been in the ring belongs somewhere in here...

Espinosa and his crew worked both this show and MMWA at South Broadway, which was eventful in its own right...Dave Vaughn won the T.V. Title from Chase King(who didn't have the most spectacular ot title reigns) and Gary Jackson regained the Heavyweight Title from Espy. Hope to check out the match between Ricky Cruz and Ken Kasa(got the spelling right now) once it's Youtubed.

Was concerned about Aarons' neck after Allen's finisher...yikes.

At any rate, had a good time...next week is SICW(train permitting).

-X-Division Champion Austin Aries d. Bully Ray(n/t) with the Last Chancery.

NWA Anarchy TV #328

Commentators:  Tim E.D. & John Johnson.

Jeff G. Bailey kicks off the show to enlighten us...he brings out Tag Team Champion Se7en and Bryan Cassanova to celebrate their victory at Hardcore Hell.  Bailey says everyone will have to pick a side and he introduces two men who have chosen their side:  Anarchy/North American Champion Shaun Tempers and Bo Newsom.  Last but not least is their new buddy Jerry Palmer...he doesn't feel like explaining his actions just yet, but does say that promoter Franklin Dove dragged the product down and he hates the fans for supporting the new boss.

Enter Dove with Commissioner Brodie Ray Chase by his side...Brodie decides they should nip things in the bud right now.  They're joined by Azrael and The Hate Junkies(w/ Dan Wilson)...The Rev got powder in the eyes at Hardcore Hell and a little birdie told him the culprit was Jeff G. Bailey.  Next we're joined by the Urban Assault Squad...they've had plenty of history with the Hate Junkies but they have common enemies at the moment.  Looks like a potential ten-man tag but Lane Vasser is absent at the moment...

Jacob Ashworth & Skirra Corvus vs. Andrew Pendleton III & Bobby Moore:  Corvus does well early against Pendleton, but a blind tag allows Moore to surprise Corvus with a low-altitude clothesline.  Corvus comes back with a jawbreaker and makes the hot tag to Ashworth...the house is on fire and AP3 gets planted with the Ashes-To-Ashes.  That leaves Moore alone in the ring and Corvus takes out Pendleton with a plancha...but Tommy Daniels decides to interject himself into the matchup.  That distraction is enough for Moore to level Ashworth with the flying boot and get the pin.

Joey Rhymer vs. Najasism(joined in progress):  Najasism hits some impressive offensive moves...but Jacoby Boykins hits the ring and cleans house on both men.  Johnson leaves the broadcast table as Boykins destroys Rhymer with a triple powerbomb...oh yeah, finish is a no-contest.  Najasism gets military-pressed into a huge spinebuster.  Big splash on Rhymer, huge powerslam on Najasism...and Boykins finally dumps both wrestlers out of the ring as Johnson gets a microphone.  Johnson has picked his side and so has Boykins...he offers their services to the NWA Elite.

John Skyler vs. Anthony Henry for the Young Lions' Title:  Skyler won the title at Hardcore Hell under somewhat dubious circumstances.  Brett Wolverton joins Tim E.D. at the broadcast booth in Johnson's absence, but Johnson returns all too soon to reclaim his seat.  In the meantime, YAY WRESTLING~!  Fine matchup between these two...Henry rallies to hook the Texas Cloverleaf but Skyler barely reaches the ropes.  Skyler snaps the throat off the top rope and does a modified version of his usual slingshot spear, turning it into a rollup and transitioning into his own Cloverleaf!  Henry counters into a victory roll...for two.  Skyler argues with the ref...and Henry one-ups him in the move-stealing department with his own slingshot spear!  Cover...for two.  Henry goes to the top rope but the champ cuts him off...Henry gets the better of the exchange on the turnbuckles and nails the frog splash!  Cover...for 2 1/2!  Henry attempts the Cloverleaf again but Skyler kicks him through the ropes...only to walk into an enzuigiri from the apron.  Henry tries to re-enter with a ropewalk DDT but Skyler blocks and hits the move himself!  He immediately transitions from THAT into the Sliced Bread #2...but only gets 2 1/2!  The match turns into a strike exchange and that leaves both men down...both get up at the same time but Skyler tilt-a-whirls into a Russian legsweep.  Skyler doesn't go for the pin and instead climbs the ropes...Henry cuts THAT off.  Top-rope Frankensteiner hits, Skyler rolls through for a sunset flip attempt but Henry counters THAT by grabbing the legs and turning him over into the Cloverleaf!  He's in the middle of the ring and Skyler has nowhere to go but Tapout City...we have a new Young Lions' Champion!

The celebration is cut short as Pendleton and Moore hit the ring to attack the new champion along with Skyler.  They tease a spike piledriver, but Billy Buck makes a surprise return for the save!  Pendleton eats a Buck Wild superkick and Moore(who had taken credit for putting Buck on the shelf) makes a hasty retreat...

Next week:  Azrael/Urban Assault Squad/Hate Junkies vs. Shaun Tempers/Se7en/Bryan Cassanova/Bo Newsom/Jacoby Boykins.

ROH + SICW

ROH TV

-Commentators:  Kevin Kelly & Nigel McGuinness.
-Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas d. D-Line(Bodysnatcher & Black Ice) when Haas made Bodysnatcher tap out to the Haas Of Pain.
-The Colony(Fire, Soldier, & Green Ant) d. Ophidian & Los Ice Creams(Ice Cream Jr. & El Hijo De Ice Cream) when Fire Ant pinned Ophidian after the Anthill(Soldier & Green held Ophidian in horizontal position while Fire climbed on his partner's shoulders to deliver a huge splash); Ultramantis Black did commentary for the match.
-Jay Lethal d. Ricky Reyes with the Lethal Injection(rope-handspring Diamond Cutter).
-Heavyweight Champion Davey Richards d. Rhino(w/ Truth Martini & Roderick Strong) in a non-title match; Davey leapfrogged a Gore attempt and got the pin with a sunset flip.  The House Of Truth members attacked after the match until Jay Lethal made the save.

Saturday MECW Results From Wood River, IL

Bailey Mannix was in charge of the show for the night with Mr. K out of town...

Dave Osborne d. Chase King with a cobra clutch suplex.

Brandon Espinosa & Ace Hawkins claimed to have attacked Shorty Biggs the night before, so the scheduled no-DQ tag match became a handicap match.  Ace Hawkins reminded the fans that "two is greater than one"...

Chris Logan vs. Brandon Espinosa & Ace Hawkins ended in a no-contest when Tag Team Champions Mike Anthony & Shawn Santel ran off Espy and Hawkins as they set up for a Conchairto on Logan.  Mannix announced a triple threat title match for the next show(June 23rd).

Mannix conducted a brief interview with Heavyweight Champion Eric Allen, noting that former champ Justin Reno had been suspended for two shows.

Indepedent Champion Count Kharfu d. Great Plains Champion Mauler McDarby(non-title); Kharfu attempted to bring McDarby's shillelagh into the match but the referee took it away.  In the confusion, Kharfu knocked out McDarby with his briefcase and got the cheap pin.

Aiden Young(now in a cowboy gimmick) d. Gamertag Fury816 by countout when Gamertag walked out on the match.

Tag Team Champion Shawn Santel(w/ Mike Anthony & Mauler McDarby) vs. Jordan McEntyre ended in a no-contest; Santel appeared to injure his shoulder when he hit the ringpost at one point in the match.  McEntyre seemed to show concern and even helped Santel to his feet, but then he dropped Santel with a single-arm DDT.  Mannix ordered an impromptu match for McEntyre against Santel's partner Anthony...

Jordan McEntyre d. Tag Team Champion Mike Anthony; Santel came back out in an attempt to help Anthony, but it backfired as McEntyre kicked Anthony into Santel and got the win after a double-underhook piledriver.

Eric Allen d. Brandon Aarons with the Shortcut after a competitive matchup to retain the Heavyweight Title.

FCW TV 5/6

Commentators:  Jim Ross & S. William Regal.  Ring announcer:  Caylee Turner.

Mike Dalton & Jason Jordan vs. Leo Kruger & Brad Maddox:  Interesting pairings here.  The faces use quick tags to do some early damage to Kruger, but Kruger backs Dalton into the wrong part of town and Maddox rakes the eyes.  Dalton takes some abuse for his side but stuns Maddox with an enzuigiri before making the tag to Jordan.  Jordan plants Maddox with a gourdbuster and follows up with a running Blockbuster but Kruger breaks up the pin.  That brings Dalton into the ring and he fights with Kruger...but Maddox surprises Jordan with a flying reverse Stunner to get the three-count.

Women's Champion Raquel Diaz vs. Audrey Marie vs. Paige Knight(w/ Sofia Cortez), non-title:  Always appreciate J.R.'s commentary, though he seems unusually sedated in his FCW appearances.  Raquel and Paige team up on Audrey, but it inevitably backfires and only one lady can win this matchup.  Raquel hits the Gory Bomb on Paige but Audrey breaks up the pin...Raquel follows up with the Three Amigos on Audrey...but after the second suplex, Paige jumps forward into an opportunistic cover on the champ and gets the surprise pinfall!

Richie Steamboat vs. Antonio Cesaro for the FCW 15 Title, thirty-minute time limit:  These two fought to two prior draws(one in a standard fifteen-minute match, one in a twenty-minute contest).  Staredown, shoving, YAY WRESTLING~!  Richie gains control with a turnbuckle-walk armdrag and targets the arm.  Cesaro makes the mistake of trying to trade chops with Steamboat...um, no.  ARMDRAGS~!  Richie goes for a lot of pin attempts in the first five minutes...a wise move in this format.  Cesaro ducks into the ropes to stall, then delivers an elbow to the gut...he attempts an O'Connor Roll, but Steamboat rolls through and bridges for a flash pin around the six-minute mark!

Cesaro freaks and charges at Richie only to be thrown to the floor...then Steamboat follows up with a plancha before bringing things back into the ring.  Cesaro holds the rope to block a rollup, but ARMDRAGS~! leave him back down on the mat.  The match degenerates into a slugfest of sorts but Cesaro has the power advantage there...Steamboat gets a backslide for two, but Cesaro delivers a forearm to the kidneys and a back suplex...for two.

We take a commercial break at the ten-minute mark...and during the break, Cesaro evens the score by hanging Steamboat up on the ropes and delivering a running boot to the side of the head.  It's now 1-1 and Richie starts firing back...but he gets dumped over the ropes and hits the ring steps on the way down to the floor!  Cesaro picks up Steamboat on his shoulders to put him back in the ring(as the commentators wonder if should have just taken the countout)...and the ensuing cover only gets a two-count.  Cesaro slows the pace, focusing his technical attack on the head and neck as we reach the fifteen-minute mark.  Deadlift gutwrench suplex...for two.  Richie strikes back and gets some separation with a back suplex, but Cesaro elbows him in the face and tries for a Flair Pin with feet on the ropes...for two.  Richie rallies out of nowhere and goes to the top rope...but Cesaro rolls through the Steamboat Press and gets a cheap pin with a handful of tights around the nineteen-minute mark!

Cesaro's now up 2-1 and Richie's ticked off, but he misses a Flying Jalapeno as we reach the twenty-minute mark.  Cesaro controls the pace as he can now win by running out the clock...he sets up the cradle face-first piledriver(Regal calls it the Gotch-Style Neutralizer) but Richie counters with a backdrop.  Cesaro comes back to stun him with a close-range European uppercut...for two.  Another...for two.  One more...no, Richie ducks and gets another backslide...for two.  Cesaro floors him with ANOTHER European uppercut and goes for the kill, but Richie surprises him with a small package out of nowhere to even the score around the twenty-four minute mark!

The match breaks down into a brawl as we enter desperation mode...Richie gets the advantage in that exchange and goes topside once again for a big chop!  Cover...for two.  Spinaround neckbreaker...for two.  Cesaro blocks a Rude Awakening but eats a dropkick...for two.  Three minutes to go.  Richie climbs the ropes again...but misses the moonsault!  Gotch-Style Neutralizer...HITS...but only gets 2 1/2!  Two minutes to go!  He sets up a Ricola Bomb, but makes the mistake of talking trash instead...Richie's superkick misses, Cesaro's lariat doesn't...two-count!  One minute to go.  Cesaro hits a chain of three deadlift gutwrench suplexes...for two!  Thirty seconds!  Ricola Bomb is set up again but Richie slides down the back into a sunset flip...for two!  Cesaro gets back up but walks right into a superkick and that gives Richie a fall at 29:55!  The time limit expires and Steamboat retains the medallion with a score of 3-2!

So long from the Sunshine State!

-Commentators:  Josh Mathews & S. William Regal.  Host:  Matt Striker.
-Striker & Regal kicked off the show...after the recent backstage attacks, Regal was advised to hire new security officials.  On the orders of Johnny Ace, those officials just happened to be...Tyler Reks & Curt Hawkins.  They're on some form of probation and Regal told them to behave in no uncertain terms.
-Maxine Perez(w/ Johnny Curtis) d. Tamina Snuka with the dragon clutch after Tamina missed the Superfly Splash.  Maxine was trying to act nice in order to appease Regal...but she still had to be re-handcuffed to Johnny Curtis after the match.
-J.T.G.(w/ Alicia Fox and new ring attire) d. Yoshi Tatsu with the Shoutout(spinaround neckbreaker).
-Reks & Hawkins crossed paths with Curtis & Maxine backstage...the new security guys passed along the key to the handcuffs as a peace offering.
-Percy Watson talked with Kaitlyn Bonin backstage...Derrick Bateman showed up and tensions rose over the backstage attacks and Derrick being embarrassed on Smackdown against Ryback.  Bateman walked away...only to be whacked in the knee off-camera!  Kaitlyn found a pair of glasses at the scene of the crime, but Bateman didn't SEEM to think it was Percy...  (Notably, Percy hasn't worn the glasses in months...)
-Tyson Kidd & Percy Watson d. Michael McGillicutty & Johnny Curtis when Percy pinned McGillicutty after the Percycution.  The two were met by Reks & Hwakins after the match as they confronted Percy about the glasses found at the scene of Bateman's attack...they attacked Kidd and physically pulled Watson back to the locker room area.

-Brooke Tessmacher d. Velvet Sky with the atomic facebuster; Women's Champion Gail Kim attacked Brooke after the match, finishing with the Eat-Defeat.
-Tommy "Crimson" Mercer d. Matt Morgan by countout; Bully Ray attacked Morgan before the match and laid him out with a chair, leading to Morgan being stretched from the ringside area.  Crimson told the referee to ring the bell and count Morgan out, thus preserving his undefeated streak.

-Brother Devon d. Robbie Eckos(w/ Robbie Terry) with the spinebuster to retain the T.V. Title.
-Rob Van Dam won a non-title four-corner match with Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode, Jeff Hardy, and Ken Anderson; Roode took a Twist Of Fate from Hardy and a Mic Check from Anderson, but Hardy and Anderson took each other out of the game at that point.  That gave RVD the opening to hit the five-star frog splash on Roode for the three-count.  The stipulations of the match:  Hardy or Anderson would take RVD's place in the Sacrifice title match if they won.  Roode would hand-pick his challenger out of the three if he won.  Since RVD won, he got to pick the stipulation:  A ladder match.  The show ended with the sudden return of Abyss...
