SLA Special Comment

Almost didn't make it to a show again...missed my turn and had to double back to find the place. Only found it because I recognized a street from my Google Map directions.

The weather was summer-esque this past weekend and the building didn't exactly have air conditioning...so it was a bit balmy in there. Myself and a few other fans sat just outside the building to watch from a slightly cooler vantage point. The weather may have affected the energy level of the audience...SLA did say they would address that issue for future shows at that location.

The show also featured quite a few newcomers to the Midwest wrestling scene. Making their St. Louis-area debuts: Shawn Nautilus, Donnie Peppercricket, Brian Gott, Jaysin Strife, Gregory James, Jojo Bravo, and Jordan Jensen. The last three are ACW regulars...Strife and Peppercricket have made names for themselves elsewhere in the country.

It seemed like the show had a LOT of face vs. face matches and that probably didn't help the crowd reaction factor for the night. Even the Kentucky Buffet guys didn't totally work heel in their match.

Davey Richards was a last-minute addition to the show; he had a car accident that screwed up his previous travel plans for the week(Japan). His match was one of the few changes to the announced lineup as Gerald James was originally scheduled to face Matt Cage.

A.C.H. continues to impress; it looks like he's been branching out quite a bit as he's wrestled for Metro Pro and AAW recently.

"The Future" Donovan Ruddick(aka D.T. Porter) was in town and attended the show...good to talk to him as I hadn't seen him since he signed with WWE/FCW. He's still rehabbing from knee surgeries...hope to see him back in action soon on FCW's TV show.

Honestly have trouble remembering a lot of details about the show, strangely enough...the measuring stick is raised pretty far since St. Louis Anarchy brings in so many high-caliber outside talents. That's an odd "critique", I suppose, but there you have it.

As far as the rest of the month goes...next Saturday has both MECW and MMWA. 5/19(Kane Day~!) has SICW with Gerald Brisco appearing as well as the Midwest debut of his son Wes(FCW alumnus). Don't THINK anyone's running on Memorial Day weekend. IHW and Dynamo don't run again until June and SLA's next show is in July.
