I'm a bit behind...time to catch up.
Commentators: Kevin Hunsperger & Executive Producer Chris Hagstrom.
Edmund "Livewire" McGuire kicks off the show...his "final title shot" ended in Heavyweight Champion Mike Masters getting blatantly disqualified with a low blow to hang onto the belt. Owner Sean Chambers said he wouldn't get any more opportunities, but McGuire feels like something else is up...then Hagstrom enters the ring to say his piece. He reminds everyone that Chambers threw in the towel to bring about the title change in the first place...and he feels like Livewire deserves another shot. Chambers isn't in the building, but Hagstorm passes along the message that Masters will defend against Heath Hatton on an upcoming TV show. Hagstrom can't make a championship match for whatever reason, but he says he CAN make a top-contenders' match and the winner of that match will get the next title shot after Hatton...
Edmund "Livewire" McGuire vs. The Mississippi Madman: Madman is a former Heavyweight Champion and his previous title reign ended in controversial fashion(as Hagstrom noted)...this is a tall order for McGuire on rather short notice. I was at the show where Madman defeated Livewire for the title a few years ago...these guys are no strangers to each other. Madman shrugs off the early fisticuffs and dominates with his size advantage...McGuire finally gets an opening after a missed elbowdrop but can't keep the Madman down for long. Avalanche sets up a potential Fifth Floor Slam(tree slam), but Bull Bronson(recent Madman rival) comes out and distracts him. That allows Livewire to recover and deliver the superkick...but it only staggers the big man. A second superkick STILL doesn't knock him down...but Bronson trips up McGuire and crotches him on the ringpost! The referee calls for the bell and it's a DQ win for McGuire...he earns another title shot but Madman has been screwed out of another opportunity. Madman yells at Hagstrom over the revolting development...
Joey O'Riley addresses his No Limits Title tournament match with tag team partner Jay Spade tonight...they're friends but only one can advance in the tournament.
Rebecca Raze vs. The Great Cheyenne: Have seen both of these ladies in Midwest competition...Raze was a three-time GCW Tag Team Champion with Sean Vincent. These two fought at an IHW show last year. Cheyenne starts by attacking from behind...Raze fights back but can't get anything going for long. Cheyenne gets the surprisingly quick win via running powerslam.
More from the sitdown interview with Shane Rich...he's proud of how far AAPW has come in the past few years. He recalls his first AAPW Title win over Homical Steven Davis as a career milestone. He recalls meeting Billy Gunn and getting the chance to work on episodes of WWE Raw and Smackdown.
A.T. Brooks vs. Truk Thompson: I don't see this being too competitive. Truk gives him a few free shots and it's mostly downhill from there. Thompson swats away a cross-bodyblock and tosses A.T. out of the ring, then borrows a fan's phone to take a picture...heh. Brooks gets off a dropkick in the ring, but that's about it...Thompson finishes with the Crimson Tide(military press dropped into a World's Strongest Slam).
Joey O'Riley vs. Jay Spade, No Limits Title Tournament: These two are "Team xXx" under friendlier circumstances...the winner of this match will face K.C. Jackson in the finals. Spade gets the streamer treatment from some ringside fans. We get clean breaks in the early going but we'll see how long that lasts. They feel each other out in the opening minutes...YAY WRESTLING~! Joey teases a punch but stops himself. Spade scores a few early two-counts as they keep it on the mat for now. The action spills out of the ring momentarily and O'Riley gets the advantage out of that...back in the ring, Joey hits a backflip uranagi(FLIPPIES~!) out of nowhere for a near-fall. Spade rallies with a flying elbow off the second rope and then a Steamboat Press for his own close two-count.
Now it's Joey's turn to rally...he nails a slingshot DDT but can't cover right away and only gets two. Counter sequence ends in Joey hitting his own Steamboat Press...for 2 1/2. They exchange pinning combinations and two-counts until mutual clotheslines leave both men down. They finally start trading fists...Joey hits a spinning kick but it only gets 2 1/2. He goes to the second rope but jumps off into a kick to the gut...Jay hits a weird modified double-arm DDT but Joey rolls out of the ring to escape defeat. Spade goes out to get him but he's practically dead weight...he finally gets him back in the ring and re-enters with a sunset flip but Joey rolls through for a buzzsaw kick! O'Riley crawls into the cover...for two. Joey counters Jay's double-arm DDT, Jay counters a full-nelson Stroke attempt and gets a rollup for two, then Joey rolls through into a modified small package for three!
Cue the post-match handshake and hug(SPORTSMANSHIP~!)...after that, Spade lets everyone know that "this is it for (him) for a while". He hasn't won much lately, but it's been fun and he wishes Joey the best of luck in the finals. Jay bids the fans farewell as we wrap up the show...
