NXT, XPlosion, Impact

WWE NXT5.com

Your hosts are Josh Mathews & Matt Striker.

Johnny Curtis interrupts the show-opening segment...Derrick Bateman tries to buddy up to his former tag team partner from FCW, but Curtis declares Maxine to be too good for Derrick. At any rate, Striker announces O'Neil/Watson vs. Curtis/Bateman for the main event...that'll work.

Trent Baretta vs. Tyson Kidd: These two had a tremendous series of matches in the past year...this promises to be no different. A plancha fakeout spot leads to Kidd catapulting Trent into the ringpost outside the ring...ow. Mutual clotheslines leave both men down, then Trent rallies with a jumping enzuigiri and a huge Steamboat Press...for two. The momentum shifts a few times until Baretta nails the Gobstopper Knee...for two. Dudebuster DDT is blocked and Kidd spinkicks him in the mush, then kills him dead with a sick brainbuster...for two?!? Kidd kicks Trent out of the ring and charges...but Baretta fends him off and nails a Whisper In The Wind off the barricade! Back into the ring for a slingshot elbowdrop...for two. Top-rope Frankensteiner is set up, but Kidd blocks it and hangs onto the leg for a half-crab! Kidd pulls him away from the ropes and that's enough for the tapout victory.

Backstage, Curtis/Bateman/Maxine continue to bond...then J.T.G. hits on Tamina Snuka only to be interrupted by Jimmy & Jey Uso. The Usos & Tamina used to hang out...CONTINUITY~! J.T.G. says that he's "super fly"...Get It?(tm)

Jimmy Uso(w/ Jey) vs. J.T.G.(w/ Tamina Snuka): Tamina causes a distraction long enough for J.T.G. to dropkick Jimmy off the turnbuckles, giving J.T.G. his first sustained advantage. Jimmy makes a comeback but J.T.G. escapes the Samoan Drop to hit a Dantastic neckbreaker...for two. J.T.G. gets an O'Connor Roll...for two. Jimmy catches him out of nowhere with the pop-up Samoan Drop before finishing with the top-rope splash.

Titus O'Neil & Percy Watson vs. Johnny Curtis & Derrick Bateman: Curtis & Bateman were actually FCW Tag Team Champions for a short time, defeating Los Aviadores for the belts before losing them a few months later to Xavier Woods(formerly Austin "Consequences" Creed) & Wes Brisco(son of Hall-Of-Famer Gerald Brisco). Now they're in a love triangle of sorts with Maxine in the middle. Striker references La Parka with regards to the skeletal designs on Curtis' ring attire...anywho, standard tag formula ensues and hell breaks loose as is tradition. The referee gets occupied with Percy, allowing Bateman to break up the Clash Of The Titus on Curtis. Curtis & Bateman deliver a lariat/clip combo behind the referee's back, allowing Curtis to get the three-count on O'Neil. Curtis & Bateman glare at each other, then Bateman grabs Maxine's hand and walks away from ringside...but Maxine gives a look back in Curtis' direction as they depart.

TNA XPlosion

Your hosts are Jeremy Borash & Taz.

Eric Young vs. Rob Terry(w/ Robbie Eckos) for the T.V. Title: Notably, Terry once won this belt(then called the Global Title) from Young. Robbie E does the honors of opening the velvet rope for his bodyguard. Borash says that Young refuses to shave his beard until he gets a Heavyweight title shot. As it stands right now, that would revive the old rivalry between former tag partners Young and Bobby Roode...hmm. I have to note that the country of Wales has contributed both Rob Terry and Mason Ryan to the wrestling world...um, yeah. After Young's traditional comedy spots, Terry tosses him out of the ring and Robbie gets in a cheapshot or two. Terry overpowers Young and sets up a superplex, but Young bites his way out of it and kicks Eckos away. The Steamboat Press is caught, but Young escapes a running powerslam attempt and gets a crucifix for the flash pin!

TNA Impact

Your hosts are Mike Tenay & Taz.

Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode starts the show...the motivation was simple. He discovered at Bound For Glory that nice guys finish last, then he saw his tag team partner reach the top first and did what he had to do to win the belt. James Storm wants a piece of his former friend and Sting makes it so for tonight with the belt on the line.

Tommy "Crimson" Mercer vs. "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero: The commentators do all they can to make us think that Pope could actually win...um, no, He has a good showing and spikes Crimson with a killer DDT...but he goes to the turnbuckles once too often and gets caught in the Red Sky for Crimson's victory.

Garrett Bischoff vs. Phil Gunner(w/ Ric Flair & Eric Bischoff): Gunner is supremely confident, but Garrett shows that he knows some moves as he hits a few armdrags, a hiptoss, and a backdrop. Gunner bails out of the ring and Flair blows his top, decking the referee for the DQ. Hey, remember when Gunner pinned Sting?

Oh nos! Someone has attacked James Storm backstage!

Jesse Sorensen vs. Shiima Xion: FLIPPIES~! Xion misses a 450 Splash and Sorensen gets the duke with his inverted neckbreaker finisher. Enter Kid Kash with a contract for a triple threat X-Division Title match at Turning Point: Austin Aries vs. Kash vs. Sorensen. Jesse signs it but Kash provokes him into a fight...enter Aries to BELT his rival. Aries teases a brainbuster, but instead throws Sorensen to Kash for a sick Moneymaker.

Gail Kim & Madison Rayne(w/ Karen Angle-Jarrett & Traci Brooks) vs. Women's Champion Velvet Sky & Mickie James for the Women's Tag Team Titles: Gail & Madison won the belts from Tara Varon & Brooke Tessmacher last week and they're already defending the titles. Karen causes a distraction at a key moment and Velvet hits the double-underhook X-Factor on Rayne, but Gail is legal and hits Velvet with Eat-The-Feet to pin the Women's Champion. If that happens Sunday, Gail will have double gold...

T.V. Champion Eric Young & Ronnie Ortiz-Magro vs. Robbie Eckos & Rob Terry: Ronnie's ring time is limited but he does manage a clothesline and bodyslam on Eckos. Young delivers his killer Macho Elbow on Eckos, then holds off Terry long enough for Ronnie to splash Eckos for the victory.

A.J. Styles vs. Christopher Daniels: Yeah, we're blowing this off on free TV. Of course the match is tremendous for the time it gets. Rob Van Dam stops Daniels from using a screwdriver as a weapon again...that distracts him momentarily and it's enough for A.J. to deliver a Death Valley Driver onto the knee and then move straight into the Styles Clash for the win.

Jeff Hardy, Ken Anderson, & Abyss vs. Jeff Jarrett, Bully Ray, & Scott Steiner(w/ Karen Angle-Jarrett): Abyss is a surprise partner for the face side...much to the chagrin of the Immortal trio. Tenay notes that the face team is comprised completely of FORMER Immortal members. Fast-paced six-man tag...Anderson takes some abuse, then Hardy tags in and rallies until Jarrett cuts off a swanton bomb attempt on Ray. That allows Steiner to hit a major Samoan Drop off the turnbuckles, putting Jeff in peril. Abyss gets hot tag number two and chaos breaks loose...Hardy hits the Twist Of Fate and swanton bomb on Ray, Jarrett hits the Stroke on Hardy, Anderson Mic Checks Jarrett, and Steiner belly-to-belly suplexes Anderson. However, Abyss is legal and reverses a Steiner whip into the Blackhole Slam for the three-count!

Bobby Roode vs. James Storm for the Heavyweight Title: A still-bloody Storm still comes out to fight and goes right after the champ...but quickly collapses due to his injuries. Roode appears to be sympathetic and even helps Storm to his feet...but then realizes the match isn't officially over and rolls him up for the pin. Ha ha. Styles and Frankie Kazarian hit the ring along with Sting but Roode was just leaving with his belt...A.J. is ticked at his former stablemate. He and Sting realize that we have a pay-per-view in three days with no main event, so why not Roode defending against Styles? That'll work.
