June 20th marked the five-year anniversary of my first time on a comedy stage...woo. I've come a long way, but as Thursday indicated, a comedian will never completely stop bombing(more on that in a moment). That was a Monday and I probably should have checked out the O'Malley's open-mic...it's not that long of a drive and I've heard the shows have been getting really good. Did pretty well at the Funny Bone open-mic, at any rate. I really need to work harder on my newer material...again, more on that in a bit.
Wednesday, Landon Meyer wrote me in to host the show...I feel like I did well in that regard. Had a few good quips in between comics. Pretty good audience as several newer people brought friends(WOO~!). Hope we can keep that going in the future...
Art Vieluf asked me to emcee the Thursday night show this week...the crowd was smaller but they seemed to be interested in the show. However, my set didn't go very well...it happens. One audience member who had seen me before said that she had heard my jokes before...I recall doing SOME newer jokes, but I did fall back on my tried-and-true material for the most part. I also stumbled over the headliner's introduction rather badly...ugh. Hopefully I can turn things around in the upcoming weeks...don't know if I'll get any guest sets this weekend or not. May check out one of Tommy Johnagin's shows at the Funny Bone this weekend, will probably stop by Etc. tonight.
