Midweek wrestling

WWE Main Event

Yes, I'm watching this on Wednesday night on Ion like a commoner...heh.

-Commentators:  Tom Phillips & Byron Saxton.
-Daniel Bryan d. Kane when he escaped a chokeslam attempt, going up and over Kane into a sunset flip/rollup pin.
-Nikki Bella(w/ Brie) d. Alicia Fox(w/ Aksana Raudoniene) after the torture-rack drop.
-The New Age Outlaws(Road Dog & Billy Gunn) backed out of their Tag Team Title rematch with injury claims...Raw General Manager Brad Maddox said they had promised a title match and would deliver.
-Jimmy & Jey Uso d. Los Matadores(Fernando & Diego)(w/ El Torito) to retain the Tag Team Titles when Jimmy pinned Fernando after the splash off the top rope; The New Age Outlaws did commentary.  Billy pushed down El Torito after the match and took a flying rana off the apron from the little bull.  Gunn ended up in the ring with Los Matadores and the masked men lifted him up into a springboard dive by El Torito.

AAW Pro Wrestling TV #1

All-American Wrestling runs in the Chicago area, primarily in Berwyn, Illinois.  I know most of these people in some form...others I recognize by name only.  This is their debut show and it can be found on YouTube on the AAW channel...let's do this.

Your hosts are Phil Colvin & Derek St. Holmes, Esquire.  There are no DQs and no countouts(though the referee can end a match at his discretion).

Manager Kevin Harvey(w/ Keith Walker & Nikki Knight) enlightens us.  Michael Elgin ended Walker's recent winning streak, but Harvey claims some controversy with the finish.  I barely recognize Nikki(formerly "pNut") with the dark hair.  They call out Elgin for a rematch...

"Unbreakable" Michael Elgin vs. "The Human Massacre" Keith Walker(w/ Kevin Harvey & Nikki Knight):  I think Walker was under a WWE developmental deal at one time...he also competed for WLW in this neck of the woods.  It doesn't take long for these two to fire up...a rare case where neither side can easily outpower the other.  Elgin tries to go aerial, but the top-rope move lands him in an overhead suplex from Walker.  Elgin rolls out and Walker sends him into the guardrail a few times...then chokeslams him onto the ring apron!  Baldo Bomb in the ring...gets 2 1/2.  Elgin comes back with a spinning backfist, but Walker escapes the powerbomb setup only to take a released German suplex.  Elgin rushes Walker with a series of running corner clotheslines...seven...eight!  They trade waistlocks and Elgin catches Walker in a sitout Bossman Slam...for two.  KICK WHAM...no, Walker backdrops him to counter the powerbomb setup.  Now it's Walker's turn to dish out some corner abuse followed by a fisherman buster...for two!

Walker sets up another chokeslam but Elgin fights out, delivering a roaring elbow to the back of the head.  Deadlift superplex?...no, Walker pulls the leg to trip him up.  Walker blocks a Brogue Kick and hits a Goozleplex...for 2 1/2!  Walker LARIATOOOOO is blocked...ditto for Elgin...and Walker hits a released German suplex.  Elgin jumps right up and hits the move on Walker...Walker likewise jumps up and hits another released German on Elgin!  Elgin catches a charging Walker with a boot and follows up with a roaring elbow...Tweek Phoenix runs in only to get tossed right out of the ring by Elgin.  Elgin stuns Walker with an enzuigiri...Phoenix grabs the foot and gets kicked away, but the distraction is enough for Walker to hit the LARIATOOOOO~!  Cover...for 2 1/2!

Walker goes for his own powerbomb but Elgin blocks...Elgin backdrops Walker and rolls through into a deadlift powerbomb of the big guy!  Brogue Kick...another to the back of the head...spinning backfist...and Demon Bomb!  That'll do it!  (Match time:  9:40)

Heritage Champion "Money" Matt Cage speaks his mind...he's about opportunity and he'll give a "young upstart" that opportunity.

The hosts mention previous holders of the Heritage Title like Elgin, A.C.H., Jimmy Jacobs, and Arik Cannon, leading up to our first championship match of the program...

"Money" Matt Cage vs. Mallaki Matthews for the Heritage Title:  Cage refuses the handshake offer with a headbutt...ouch.  Cage goes on the attack from there, looking to make an example out of his challenger...Mallaki fires up with strikes and gets a surprise rollup for two.  Cage stops him with a kick to the shin and knee to the face in rapid succession, then a jumping leg lariat for two.  Cage wastes time and pays for it as he takes a drop toehold into the turnbuckles...time for the comeback!  Cage reverses a whip into a Stunner, but Mallaki comes up with a neat legsweep/sideslam move...for two!  He goes back to the strikes, but that's Cage's came and he returns fire.  Go 2 Palm Strike... gets 2 1/2!  Mallaki hits a Flying Chuck out of nowhere and Cage rolls to the floor to regroup...Mallaki follows him out, but Cage yanks his leg and he takes a nasty fall on the ring apron.  Back in the ring, Cage wraps it up with a Codebreaker to retain his title.  (Match time:  4:07)

Scarlett Bordeaux fixes her hair and complains about creepy guys...hey, wait a minute.  Anywho, she's with Heavyweight Champion "Sugar" Shane Hollister and doesn't have time for the riffraff.

Colt "Boom Boom" Cabana vs. Tweek Phoenix(w/ Kevin Harvey & Nikki Knight):  Cabana bears a striking resemblance to former WWE superstar Scotty Goldman.  You may also know him as one of the Second City Saints along with Ace Steel and some guy named C.M. Punk.  Tweek once teamed with his twin brother Dash but is flying solo these days.  Cabana starts the match by snapping his towel at Nikki...heh.  This is Tweek's first match in a few months due to an injury layoff...Colt doesn't quite break clean as he has a hold of Tweek's ear.  Phoenix goes for a cheapshot on the break and gets backdropped out of the ring.  Tweek turns up the aggression and slows the pace a bit...but Colt goofs around with his flashy reversal sequence and ends in a sliding folding press for two.  Nicely done.  :-D

Phoenix runs the ropes, but Colt demands he stop before yanking him to the mat by the arm.  Tweek tries the same trick but Cabana just rolls through and armyanks him again...bwahahaha.  Cabana takes him to the mat but Phoenix brawls his way into an advantage...Colt monkeyflips Tweek, but Tweek tries the same move and Colt simply kneels down on him for a two-count.  Nikki trips up Cabana and gets chased around the ring(running straight through Harvey's cheapshot attempt)...Tweek cuts him off with a swinging dropkick through the ropes.  Tweek holds Colt for a slap from Nikki(no-DQ!) before taking the fight back into the ring.

Nikki tries to choke Colt on the ropes, so Colt responds by copping a feel...hmm...anywho.  She yells at him for it and he nearly gets another handful before Phoenix cuts him off.  Cabana returns fire as things break down into fisticuffs...BIONIC ELBOW~!  Well, he is wearing polka dots.  He goes for the flying butt-bump in the corner but runs into a flying clothesline...for two.  Phoenix to the third floor...but the splash hits nothing but mat!  Cabana goes to the top rope...Tweek rolls away, but Colt lands on his feet and hits a ground-level splash for two!  Colt goes for a fireman's-carry move but Nikki pulls Tweek's foot to get him out of it.  Colt gets a hold of both Harvey and Nikki...and rubs Harvey's face in Nikki's chest!  Didn't see that coming...in the confusion, Tweek removes his boot and nails Colt with it.  Cover...for 2 1/2!  Discus lariat...for 2 1/2!  Nikki throws in her own boot...but Cabana removes HIS own boot and lays out Phoenix with it.  Colt hooks the Billy Goat's Curse(reverse Boston crab) and gets the tapout...okay then!  (Match time:  9:34)

Eddie Kingston closes the show...some of those other wrestlers are pretty good.  Kingston's not the greatest athlete, but he's a fighter...'nuff said.
