-Commentators: Tom Phillips & Corey Graves.
-The Revival(Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder) kicked off the show by vowing to become the first two-time NXT Tag Team Champions...they said that American Alpha(Jason Jordan & Chad Gable) were pretty good amateur wrestlers, but they wouldn't beat them again. Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano interrupted the promo, but Dawson & Wilder blew them off as two "undersized bearded" guys who were simply "good hands". They suggested that the two go back to their bingo halls, but Ciampa reminded them that they lost to Jordan & Gable in Dallas. Wilder said that they had at least BEEN champions...they left the ring, but Gargano wouldn't leave it alone and said they were running away. That brought them back into the ring, but Ciampa & Gargano cleared them right back out...looked like the setup for a main event to me.
-Backstage: Cathy Kelley interviewed Shinsuke Nakamura about his Takeover match with Austin Aries; Nakamura predicted that Aries would bow down to the King Of Strong-Style...
-Tye Dillinger d. Buddy Murphy after a Death Valley Driver onto the knee (5:09).
-Earlier today: Corey Graves conducted a sitdown interview with NXT Champion Samoa Joe and Finn Bálor. Joe maintained his mindset that Bálor should have fought for Joe's opportunity; instead, Joe had to "jump through hoops" for his title shot. He blamed the medical personnel for holding him back in Dallas when he was bloodied. Bálor vowed that he wouldn't be saving himself for future things in next week's cage match...the interview ended in a staredown between the two.
-Austin Aries d. Elias Samson with the Last Chancery (4:34). Afterwards, Aries said he would prove himself at Takeover against Nakamura.
-Arriving at Takeover: Andrade "Cien" Almas.
-Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano d. The Revival(Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder); Dawson superplexed Gargano, but Gargano small-packaged him on the landing for the flash pin (6:56 aired). Dawson & Wilder beat down Ciampa & Gargano after the bell, laying out Ciampa with the Shatter Machine(Flapjack-into-Codebreaker)...they threatened to destroy Ciampa's knee, but Jordan & Gable made the save and the two teams brawled.
-General Manager S. William Regal presided over the contract signing for the Takeover match between NXT Women's Champion Asuka Urai and Nia Jax. Nia said she wasn't impressed by Asuka...Asuka may have beaten Bayley Rose for the title, but she broke Bayley and she's not scared of Asuka. Asuka yelled at Nia in Japanese and said she SHOULD be scared...Asuka attacked, but Nia avoided one of her signature kicks and dropped her with a powerbomb.
