Yeahhhhh, I'm slacking on these.
Good turnout as usual for these guys. I give SICW a lot of credit for booking a solid all-around product. The belt is the focus(as it should be) and practically everyone has something to do.
Hey, Jimmy D got a full last name(Douglas)! Waco did more than we usually see out of him, including a somersault plancha. Weird countout finish to the match.
Matt Murphy's pre-match promo summed up the internet angle advancement we'd seen in the past few months...he felt like he deserved more respect as the protege of Harley Race but was set up to be steamrolled by Alexandre Rudolph in his debut appearance. Fine matchup with Brian James as well...
Gary and Chaz could make a good long-term team except that SICW doesn't currently have Tag Titles. I had wondered if it would be better to move the MMWA tag belts to the Illinois side since they'd have more talent to utilize without the restraints of Missouri licensing.
Vincent upsetting Vaughn was a surprise, plus it set up the post-match with Travis Cook being desperate enough to suggest an alliance with Ron Powers. Powers HASN'T gotten a title shot since losing the belt to Ricky Cruz(after Cruz got several shots at champion Powers). Promoter Herb Simmons did say Powers would have to work his way back up the ladder...and since losing the belt, Powers' matches have usually ended in DQ losses.
The Hargas-Powers match could have used a stretcher of some kind after Hargas took two piledrivers on a chair...ow.
Ricky's been showing a mean streak and bending the rules on a few recent occasions...call it fighting fire with fire but it's still unusual to see that out of a high-level face these days.
Travis attacking the referee came out of left field...and it had consequences as he was suspended and THEN dragged out of the building to local law enforcement officers. Bwahahaha.
No local wrestling last weekend but there was the Fozzy/I Have A Bomb show at Pop's...there were enough local wrestlers in the house that they could have put on a wrestling show if a ring had been present. Not really the concert-going type but I had a good time...
As the summer winds down, September is looking fairly busy...MECW on the 1st, Dynamo on the 7th, MMWA's double-header on the 8th, SICW on the 15th, and St. Louis Anarchy on the 29th. Good times.
