NWA Anarchy TV #286

Your hosts are Tim E.D. & John Johnson.

Ace Rockwell talks up the NWA North American Title tournament finals...can he win the big one? Shaun Tempers retorts.

General Manager J.T. Talent talks up the match to the fans in attendance...um, good luck living up to the hype, guys...NWA officials want no interference, so Talent has appointed a special ringside enforcer: Former promoter Jerry Palmer. Dan Wilson comes out with the modest request to do the play-by-play for the match alongside John Johnson...OLDSCHOOL.

Ace Rockwell vs. Shaun Tempers, NWA North American Title tournament finals: Metric asston of history between these two as they started out as tag team partners(Pomp & Circumstance) before Tempers went heel, sparking an ongoing rivalry that has lasted to this day. It should be noted that it was actually Dan Wilson who lured Tempers to the dark side. The tournament went like this:

Quarterfinals: Ace Rockwell d. Chrisjen Hayme at an NWA Main Event show; Kyle Matthews d. Chip Day at an NWA Pro South Wrestling show; Shaun Tempers d. Caprice Coleman at an NWA Anarchy show; Corey Hollis d. J-Rod at an NWA Rampage Pro Wrestling show.

Semifinals: Tempers d. Hollis at an NWA Chattanooga show, Rockwell d. Matthews at an NWA Anarchy show.

It doesn't take long for the trash-talking and shoving to begin, then we get an extende dlockup before Tempers fails to break clean in the corner(HEEL~!). Wilson notes that Rockwell is just a day removed from an I Quit Match with Andrew Alexander in NWA Chattanooga so who knows if he's 100%. Ace fires back with armdrags, forcing Shaun to bail out of the ring and regroup...he re-enters only to run into another armdrag. However, Rockwell goes to the well once too often and Tempers hangs onto the ropes, causing Ace to hit the mat hard as he goes for another armdrag. Tempers grabs a waistlock and keeps going back to that hold(a la Ace with the armdrags). Shaun blocks an O'Connor Roll attempt only to take a high knee to the back, sending him floorward once again.

Johnson relates some of the past history between the two where the grudge ran so deep that they used a claw hammer as a weapon against each other...those tactics won't be tolerated in this one. Ace goes out after Shaun and sends him back in the ring, but that backfires as Tempers dumps him on the top rope, then stuns him with a kick and knocks HIM to the outside with a rolling elbow. Ace nearly gets counted out but manages to re-enter the ring...Tempers would have been content to win by countout since he would win the title by any sort of victory. Rockwell fires up only to be reversed into a powerslam for our first two-count.

Tempers starts focusing his attack on the back, then attempts the Rude Awakening out of nowhere but Ace counters with a backslide...for two. Tempers cuts him off and once again slows the pace to his liking. Johnson mentions that this belt has been decided in the NWA Arena in the past when NWA Wildside alumnus Shawn Hernandez held the title. Tempers seems to set up his own backslide but turns it into a Gory Bomb...for 2 1/2. Tempers maintains methodical control...at least until Rockwell backdrops him over the top rope.

Tempers re-enters the ring only to eat a dropkick, kicking off a flurry of offense by Ace...but a Stinger Splash is met rather directly with a forearm to the face. Tempers charges...right into a spinebuster and that gets 2 1/2. Stinger Splash is avoided again, but Ace lands on the second rope, head-fakes, then jumps over into a sunset flip(a la Christian Cage) and rollup for 2 1/2. Rockwell delivers the airplane spin and it doesn't seem to do either man any good...in fact, Tempers recovers first with KICK WHAM BEELZEBOMB...for 2 1/2. Knee to the gut is countered into a rollup out of nowhere for 2 1/2...and Tempers gets a TRIANGLE CHOKE out of his kickout! Ace manages to power his way to the ropes to escape the hold, but it took a lot out of The Seven-Figure Deal...

Tempers wastes time arguing with the referee, thinking he had won with the triangle choke...and he runs right into Aces High...for 2 1/2! Tempers hits a desperation jawbreaker, but runs into another dropkick from Ace and both men are down. Cue the twenty-minute sell...oh wait, it's BEEN twenty minutes. Rockwell goes topside and dives, Tempers moves but Ace lands on his feet...Tempers hits Aces High on Rockwell! Cover...for 2 1/2! Back suplex attempt but Ace backflips out, landing on his feet and getting a rolling prawn cradle...for 2 1/2. Tempers snaps off the Rude Awakening out of nowhere! Cover...for 2 1/2!

Johnson starts to wonder about Ace's condition, citing his past neck problems...Tempers hooks a cobra clutch, perhaps looking for the Temper-Pedic. Ace runs at the ropes and stops short, sending Tempers flying through the ropes. Rockwell goes to the top but Tempers yanks the foot, dropping him rather painfully on the turnbuckle. Temper re-enters and attempts the superplex but Rockwell fights out of it...tornado DDT is blocked but Ace keeps fighting and hits DIAMOND DUST...for 2 1/2! Wilson notes that the move(which he calls the Ultimate Highlight) was similar to his part of the old Pomp & Circumstance double-team finisher...wow. Rockwell keeps up the pressure but gets caught in the Temper Tantrum(bridging head-and-arm suplex)...for 2 1/2.

Ace shoves Tempers back into the corner, hits a close-range Stinger Splash, tries the bulldog but gets pushed off...elbows Tempers back and hits the bulldog from a running start...for 2 1/2. The two slug it out in the middle of the ring...Tempers gets the upper hand for a moment but Rockwell will not die. Tempers blocks an Aces High attempt and gets the cobra clutch...Ace backs him into the turnbuckles repeatedly to break the hold. Tempers gets the hold again and this time Ace may be fading...the arm drops once, twice...NOT thrice. Ace tries to elbow out, but Tempers turns it into the Temper-Pedic(cobra clutch backbreaker) and maintains the hold, locking on the bodyscissors in the middle of the ring...Rockwell finally taps out! Shaun Tempers is the new NWA North American Champion!

Post-match, Ace grabs the belt...but he respectfully puts it on Tempers' shoulder and leaves the ring without incident. Announced match time: 32:30. We're out...yay wrestling.
