Sure, let's do this a week after the fact...
Surprised to see Pete work the opener but he had a full night. Hadn't seen Ryan Drago before, fine showing and cool guy. I demand a triple threat mustache match with Drago, Brett Young, and Marion Fontaine. BOOK IT~!
Wasn't aware that Kevin X was in the military but there you have it. Best of luck to him. No truth to the rumor that Kevin's long-lost brothers Kevin XI and Kevin XII will be entering the tag team division...I apologize for that lame joke, but partial blame goes to Ben Simon for giving me the idea.
Nice surprise to see Sir Bradley Charles in the house...had been a while since I'd seen him at a show.
Potential heel turn for Archer...hmm.
Throwback finisher night...Pete finished the opener with a Northern Lights suplex, a cool move that I don't see used as a finisher very often. (Owen Hart finished with it shortly before his heel turn.) Kevin won with a bridging O'Connor Roll(which BOB BACKLUND once used as a signature finish). Vaughn won with a sleeperhold...that USED to be a dangerous hold, then a big finisher for a select handful of wrestlers, then a glorified chinlock. Dolph Ziggler brought it back into play as a legitimate finisher and Samoa Joe's Kokita Clutch(rear naked choke) is essentially a sleeper with a bodyscissors. On top of that, Texan defeated Pete(who admittedly had already wrestled AND done the armwrestling challenge) with an abdominal stretch, a finish that came out of absolutely nowhere.
While it would have been a big push for the injured Hargas to defeat Texan, it was probably the right move to just pull him out of the match to sell the injury(he DID take a piledriver, after all).
Ben had a good point...Chaz should have been a bit more upset about Hargas busting up his title match. Maybe that'll come into play in next month's tag match...meanwhile, Hargas may have also started an issue with long-time friend Dave Vaughn.
Fine matchup between Lucy and Stacey...haven't seen much of Lucy but I believe I saw one of Stacey's first matches ever in East Carondelet a few years ago against Alexis Lightfoot and she's done well for herself since then. Stacey is scheduled for the next Dynamo show against MsChif and has been working Metro Pro regularly as well as WLW. Lucy is another WLW product who has also been working MPW. Notably, Stacey's the face and Lucy's the heel in Metro Pro...heh. Larry Matysik reportedly had high praise for the match as well.
The main event was fine with an odd finish...Gary was complaining that Sterling wasn't legal when Vincent clearly made the tag. You'd think Jackson would have had a more of a problem with Sterling using the ropes for illegal leverage on the pin, but then HE WILL CHEAT IF HE HAS TO~! Cool that they already have two matches set up for the next show.
This weekend has IHW and MECW, next weekend has AAPW in Carbondale and I may have to decide whether or not to make the long drive for that...
