WWE Raw

-Randy Orton d. Dolph Ziggler(w/ Vickie Guerrero) with the RKO; Wade Barrett watched the match from a skybox.
-Brodus Clay(w/ Naomi Night & Cameron Lynn) d. Tyler Reks with the Fall Of Humanity.
-World Champion Daniel Bryan d. WWE Champion C.M. Punk(n/t) by DQ when Chris Jericho attacked Bryan outside the ring and threw him into the barricade. Jericho then entered the ring and laid out Punk with the Codebreaker.
-New Hall Of Fame entry in the celebrity wing: Mike Tyson.
-Kofi Kingston d. Mike Mizanin via Trouble In Paradise; "R-Truth" Ron Killings did commentary for the match.
-Beth Phoenix d. Eve Torres with the Glam Slam to retain the Women's Title; Kane attempted to corner Eve after the match but John Cena made the save and pummeled Kane with the ring steps. Cena teased an F-U through the broadcast table but Kane escaped from his grasp.
-Triple H was about to future-endeavor General Manager Johnny Ace but was interrupted by the return of The Undertaker, teasing a Taker-H rematch at WrestleMania...

FCW TV

Your hosts are Chris Russo & S. William Regal, your ring announcer is Caylee Turner.

Calvin Raines vs. Kenneth Cameron: So who's the face in THIS matchup? Not much feeling-out in this matchup...they just go right after each other. The fans seem to side with Cameron so we'll go with that. This is Cameron's toughest test to date against a former Tag Team Champion...Raines looks for a running powerslam but Cameron escapes the move to snap Raines' throat off the top rope. One sitout jawbreaker later, Cameron picks up the victory.

Mike Dalton & Xavier Woods vs. Heavyweight Champion Champion Leo Kruger & Rick Victor: Dalton got a landmark win last week in the Grand Royale and came VERY close to upsetting Kruger for the title later in the show. Kruger and Victor's first attempt at teamwork goes awry and Woods takes advantage before tagging in Dalton. Dalton & Woods seem to work together very well...but Xavier ends up in the wrong part of town and eats a baseball slide from Kruger. Regal notes the mindset behind the European uppercut, saying that a closed-fist punch is an automatic disqualification in most countries so people use the forearm uppercut instead. Xavier finally makes the hot tag to Dalton after considerable effort...the house is on fire! Xavier takes out Kruger but whiffs on a plancha as Leo sidesteps him. Kruger runs interference to stop a top-rope move from Dalton...Dalton kicks him away, but Victor blasts Dalton on the turnbuckles with a huge European uppercut. Victor plants him with a double-underhook powerbomb and that's enough to score the three-count.

Backstage, Kruger consoles a crying Aksana Raudoniene...Leo goes to take care of things for her and she looks DEVIOUS~! as he leaves...

General Manager Maxine Perez(w/ James Bronson) meets with Abraham Washington in her office...she wants Abe to be her assistant. Washington is hesitant to play second fiddle to anyone but he does agree to it...however, she wants Abe to talk to "Dr. Bronson" first. Next is Danielle Moinet(w/ errand boy) to deliver some sort of message to Maxine...

Byron Saxton interviews Bo Rotundo...we haven't seen him in a few weeks. Bo's finally cleared to return to the ring...WOO~! He's ready to regain the Heavyweight Title he never lost in the ring...and that catches the attention of the champ, now accompanied by Aksana. Leo tells Bo that he needs to work his way back up the ladder...apparently Aksana claimed that Bo treated her badly and Kruger wants to stick up for her. Referees hit the ring to maintain order...meanwhile, Aksana looks DEVIOUS~!

Big E Langston vs. Antonio Cesaro: Looks like Big E is turning face as he sticks up for the good old U-S-A. Cesaro tries to push Big E backwards in the opening lockup and gets nowhere...then his attempt at a full nelson is largely ignored. Langston tosses Cesaro around with surprising ease...at least until Cesaro clips the leg. Big E powers out of a chinlock but misses a big splash, allowing Cesaro to keep him grounded. Cesaro takes the wind out of him with a series of double-stomps to the gut...ow. Big E hits a backbreaker out of nowhere and repeatedly powers Cesaro into the turnbuckles. The straps come down...but Cesaro seeks refuge in the ropes and gets in an eyepoke behind the referee's back. IT'S THE BIG FOOT connects and Cesaro locks on a combination cobra clutch/camel clutch for the tapout victory.

Damien Sandow vs. Richie Steamboat for the FCW 15 Title: So who's the face in THIS matchup? Sandow demands his spotlight and thanks the fans for their irrelevant opinions...okay, looks like Richie's the face for tonight. Both guys go for quick rollups in the opening minute. ARMDRAGS~!...take a guess who wins that exchange. Steamboat teases an early superkick and Sandow bails to the floor only to take a baseball slide instead. Steamboat re-enters via the top rope...big chop gets a two-count. Steamboat's on a roll but Sandow finally cuts him off with a shoulder to the gut. Half-crab attempt is blocked and Richie kicks him away...a superkick out of nowhere gets a three-count at the four-minute mark!

Richie tries another quick rollup for two before going back to the arm...dropkick and clothesline send Damien to the floor! We hit the five-minute mark, but this time Steamboat's baseball slide is blocked by Sandow raising the ring apron to trap him(FINLAY~!). Sandow beats him down and catapults him into the ring steps...that'll slow him down. In fact, Richie is counted out and that evens the score around the six-minute mark.

Sandow slows the pace...CRAVATE~! Steamboat chops back but runs into a facebuster...for two. We reach the ten-minute mark as the champion controls the pace...the superkick is blocked this time and a mid-ring collision leaves both men down. Both men are worn out and Steamboat bounces Sandow's face off the mat a few times...Russo notes that Richie has experience in this style of match so that will help him. Flying Jalapeno...gets two. Sandow levels Steamboat with a lariat out of nowhere...for two. Regal notes that Sandow was trained by Killer Kowalski...slam attempt is escaped and Richie gets an O'Connor Roll...for two. Sandow gets a jackknife cradle...for two. Steamboat tries the jackknife cradle himself...for two. Two minutes to go. Sandow overpowers his challenger and tries a back suplex, but Richie backflips out...and nails the superkick! However, Sandow falls through the ropes...one minute to go. Sandow is dead weight as Richie has to lift him back into the ring...he finally gets the cover...for two! Thirty seconds to go. Richie motions for Sandow to get up for another superkick, then realizes the clock is against him and goes for the kill...Damien suddenly small-packages him for two...Richie reverses the move into his own and gets three with ten seconds left on the clock! They go back after each other, but the time limit expires...and with a score of 2-1, Richie Steamboat is your newwwww FCW 15 Champion!

Next week: Bo Rotundo returns to the ring! So long from the Sunshine State!

WWE Royal Rumble

-Dark match: Yoshi Tatsu d. Heath Slater.
-Daniel Bryan won a triple threat cage match with The Big Show and Mark Henry to retain the World Title by escaping the cage.
-Women's Champion Beth Phoenix, Natalya Neidhart, & The Bella Twins d. Kelly K, Eve Torres, Alicia Fox, & Tamina Snuka when Beth pinned Kelly after the Glam Slam.
-John Cena fought Kane to a double countout; the brawl ended up backstage where Kane found the injured Zack Ryder and dragged him to the ring for a Tombstone. Cena tried to help but couldn't deliver the F-U and got chokeslammed.
-Brodus Clay(w/ Naomi Night & Cameron Lynn) d. Drew McIntyre with the Fall Of Humanity.
-C.M. Punk d. Dolph Ziggler(w/ Vickie Guerrero) after the second Go 2 Sleep of the match to retain the WWE Title; John Laurinaitis(I'm finally gonna try to spell out his name) made himself the outside referee but the match ending featured some shady officiating on his part with the original ref knocked down(the first ref made the decisive three-count).
-Royal Rumble!
#1 Mike Mizanin.
#2 Alex Riley...but Miz eliminates him in short order.
#3 "R-Truth" Ron Killings...he doesn't go out as easily.
#4 Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes.
#5 Justin Gabriel.
#6 Tag Team Champion Primo Colon. Miz throws out R-Truth.
#7 Mick Foley...he eliminates Primo.
#8 Ricardo Rodriguez...Foley dumps Gabriel.
#9 Santino Marella...DUELING COMEDY~! and he throws out Ricardo.
#10 Tag Team Champion Epico Colon...Foley dumps him quickly, but then Rhodes eliminates both Santino and Foley.
#11 Kofi Kingston.
#12 Jerry Lawler...he doesn't last long before Cody eliminates him.
#13 Ezekiel Jackson.
#14 Jinder Mahal.
#15 The Great Khali...he disposes of Mahal and Zeke in short order.
#16 Hunico.
#17 Booker T.
#18 Dolph Ziggler.
#19 Hacksaw Jim Duggan...however, Cody goes on a tear by eliminating Duggan, Khali, and Booker.
#20 Voldemort.
#21 Amazing Kharma(!). Booker and Lawler pull Voldemort out of the ring, thank God. Kharma eliminates Hunico only to be eliminated herself by Dolph.
#22 Sheamus O'Shaunessy...he ends Kofi's night.
#23 Road Dog.
#24 Jey Uso.
#25 U.S. Champion Jack Swagger.
#26 Wade Barrett...he throws out Road Dog.
#27 David Otunga.
#28 Randy Orton...hometown pop! Bye Jey, bye Wade.
#29 Chris Jericho...he tosses Otunga quickly.
#30 The Big Show...he cleans house, disposing of Swagger, Miz, Cody, and Dolph.

The final four are Show, Orton, Sheamus, and Jericho...Orton manages to eliminate Big Show but Jericho throws out Orton, leaving us with Sheamus and Jericho. In a surprise(to me, anyway), Sheamus throws Jericho over the top rope and then Brogue-Kicks him to the floor to win the Royal Rumble!

NWA Anarchy TV #313

Your hosts are Tim E.D. & John Johnson...more from Seasons' Beatings this week.

Steven Walters vs. Seth Delay vs. Mike Posey vs. Corey Hollis, ladder match for the T.V. Title: Hollis attacks Walters in the aisle as he makes his entrance...Posey joins the fun and Delay evens the odds. Posey is the first to go for a ladder but Delay jumps off the ring steps to dropkick the ladder back into his face! Delay and Hollis actually fight on the broadcast booth until Seth tosses Hollis down to the floor into Walters and Posey...then Delay launches a somersault dive off the table to take out all three opponents!

The ladders come into play as all four wrestlers fight in the ring...the Rave Approved teammates try to double-clothesline Walters with a ladder, but Walters ducks and Asai-moonsaults onto the ladder to take out both opponents! Posey and Hollis double-team Walters in the ring after disposing of a smaller ladder, but Seth dives off a huge ladder set up on the floor to nail both heels. Too many highlights to really call in this one...Posey and Hollis both climb the ladder and grab the belt at the same time, but neither will let it go. Walters and Delay cut them off, but all four crash down to the mat. Delay thinks he's won...confusion reigns as we figure out what's going on.

OK, no one could decide who actually came up with the belt, so they re-hang it and we're off to the races once again. Apparently Seth and Corey both had their hands on the belts as they fell...but that doesn't matter now. Posey and Hollis both climb for the belt but Walters and Delay dump them off...then they hit stereo planchas off the top rope! Delay limps back into the ring and goes for the ladder but his leg is in bad shape. Walters goes up the ladder but Seth cuts him off...and nails him with the brass knuckles! Ladies and gentlemen, we have a heel turn. Delay has all the opening in the world to climb the ladder and retrieve the belt...we have a new Television Champion!

John Johnson(w/ Ambassadors) complains about his team being left off the card...yay?

Mikael Judas vs. Se7en(w/ Jeff G. Bailey), no-holds-barred match: Judas wastes no time in blasting Se7en out of the ring with a running boot, then takes the fight to the floor. A fan lends Judas a chair...why not? Bailey teases involvement(perfectly legal in this match) but Judas sees him coming and Jeff G. backs off. They finally get back in the ring and the momentum swings a few times...Judas gains control, but takes too long to attempt El Crucifijo(wary of another fireball attack from Bailey?) and gets backdropped.

Se7en dominates for several minutes, but goes to the second rope once too often and takes a shot to the gut in mid-jump. Judas grabs a sleeperhold(!) and Se7en seems to be fading, but he powers out of the move to hit a sideslam. Bailey throws in a chair(no holds barred!) and Se7en uses it to choke out Judas. Se7en teases a chokeslam onto the set-up chair, but Judas fights out of the grip...Se7en grabs him again and Judas kicks him below the belt(no holds barred!). They trade shots until Judas finally gives him a drop-toehold to drop him on the chair. Judas bashes Se7en across the back with the chair, then sets Se7en up on the turnbuckles to put him in better position for El Crucifijo. He picks him up but THE LIGHTS GO OUT IN CORNELIA...the lights return and Lane Vasser is in the ring with Judas on his shoulders! Fireman's-carry sideways spinebuster! Se7en adds an anticlimatic elbowdrop and gets the pin after that...it looks like Vasser is the newest member of the NWA Elite! Se7en adds a post-match chokeslam and they put the boots to Judas...finally several wrestlers come out to help but the two powerhouses destroy everyone. Brodie Ray Chase comes out to restore order but Bailey and company are having none of it...they finally leave the ring and Bailey yells that all of this is on Brodie's head...

Heavyweight Champion Azrael and the Hate Junkies hype the remaining two Seasons' Beatings matches...the Junkies plan to destroy the Urban Assault Squad in their own kind of match. The Junkies also speak for Azrael, saying that he'll be adding more gold to his collection very soon.

NWA North American Champion Shaun Tempers enlightens us as well...he plans to target Pearce's surgically-repaired neck.

NWA World Champion Adam Pearce closes out the show...that match is next week.

Superstars & Smackdown

WWE Superstars.com

Your hosts are Josh Mathews, Matt Striker, & Scott Stanford.

Tyson Kidd vs. Jinder Mahal: Mahal's music now has Muhammad Hassan-esque chanting at the start of it...subtle~! Kidd slaps hands on the way to the ring...well, I was wondering who would be the face in this matchup. Kidd unleashes some aerial offense, nailing a somersault dive off the apron...but Jinder cuts him off and slows the pace. Striker reels off Royal Rumble factoids...I must note that the "winner gets a WrestleMania title shot" stipulation didn't start until 1993(the WWF Title was actually at stake in 1992). Kidd sticks and moves, delivering a basement dropkick and nearly winning with a rolling prawn cradle(OWEN~!). Kidd nails the inside-out slingshot legdrop to the back of Mahal's head but misses the Merosault...Mahal drops him with a Flatliner(another Hassan move!) and wraps things up with the camel clutch.

Women's Champion Beth Phoenix vs. Brie Bella(w/ Nikki), non-title: So who's the face in THIS matchup? It's been a while since we've seen Beth as she suffered an injury in a match with Alicia Fox. I'm guessing Beth will be the favorite in this one as she wins the opening shoving match. Nikki lends a hand at a key moment, pulling her sister out of the way of Beth's charge into the ropes. Beth turns things around and hits the slingshot suplex...then rams Brie into Nikki before delivering the Glam Slam. 1-2-3.

Kofi Kingston vs. Michael McGillicutty: Kofi is looking to bounce back from his recent Tag Team Title loss...who was his partner again? Stanford notes that Kofi was McGillicutty's mentor in the second season of NXT...had forgotten about that. Kofi has held singles and tag gold in the past while McGillicutty was tag champ with David Otunga...in fact, Air Boom(Kofi and that other guy) defeated them for the belts. Kofi fakes him out before connecting with a suicide dive for real...but McGillicutty blocks a swinging kick through the ropes to deliver a neckbreaker. Kingston comes back with a pseudo-Pele Kick to cue the comeback...Superman Punch, Boom Drop...but Trouble In Paradise misses. McGillicutty whiffs on a dropkick and Kofi hits the SOS, but MM grabs the bottom rope to escape defeat. McGillicutty snaps the throat off the top rope and lines him up for the Headturner neckbreaker, but a block-and-counter sequence ends in Trouble In Paradise for the Kofi victory!

WWE Smackdown

-Your hosts are Josh Mathews, Booker T, & Voldemort.
-Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes d. Justin Gabriel(n/t) via Crossrhodes.
-Sheamus O'Shaunessy d. Drew McIntyre with the Brogue Kick.
-Tag Team Champions Primo & Epico Colon(w/ Rosa Mendes) d. Yoshi Tatsu & Santino Marella(n/t) when Epico pinned Santino after the backcracker.
-Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett never officially started as the two just brawled...General Manager Theodore Long sent referees and wrestlers into the ring to break things up but several of them took RKOs as Wade retreated.
-Hunico(w/ Donny Camacho) d. Ted DiBiase Jr. with an Olympic Slam; Hunico and Camacho destroyed DiBiase's recently-injured wrist after the match.
-Brodus Clay(w/ Naomi Night & Cameron Lynn) d. Alex Riley with the Fall Of Humanity.
-Aksana Raudoniene d. Natalya Neidhart via rollup. Natalya attacked after the match and locked Aksana in the Sharpshooter but Tamina Snuka made the save with a Samoan Drop and Superfly Splash.
-The Big Show d. Mark Henry by countout after Henry suffered an injury during the match; World Champion Daniel Bryan(who spent the night stirring things up between his two Royal Rumble challengers) attacked Show with a chair after the match and got him in the LeBell Lock, but Show powered out of the hold and chokeslammed Bryan. Bryan ran away with his belt to close the show...

NXT, XPlosion, Impact

WWE NXT5.com

Your hosts are Josh Mathews & S. William Regal.

Titus O'Neil opens the show...but tag partner Percy Watson takes exception to his new attitude. O'Neil encourages him to turn to the Dark Side, but Percy says he's sounding like Darren Young right about now. Titus says that Percy is either with him or against him...Percy says he's against him, so Titus shoves him down. Emcee Matt Striker orders the match for later tonight.

Backstage, Striker is harassed by Tyler Reks & Curt Hawkins...but they're in action next.

Jimmy & Jey Uso vs. Tyler Reks & Curt Hawkins: SIVA TAU~! Hawkins nearly takes out Jey with an innovative faceplant but only gets a two-count. Reks throws in the walking stick, but Curt never gets a chance to use it as Jey superkicks him into dreamland. 1-2-3.

Derrick Bateman hangs out with Kaitlyn Bonin backstage...Kaitlyn lets him know that Johnny Curtis is lurking around somewhere...

Trent Barreta vs. Heath Slater: One of these guys might just win a match! Trent whiffs on an early plancha and Heath introduces him to the barricade and ring apron. Barreta tries to fire back but Heath cuts him off with a Booker T-esque jumping side kick...nicely done. Trent finally gets an opening when Slater eats turnbuckle on a missed Stinger Splash...jumping enzuigiri! Gobstopper Knee...gets two. Heath tries for a re-entry sunset flip but Trent blocks and catches him in a Northern Lights suplex...for two. Third floor...but Heath pops up to deliver a huge powerslam! Cover...for two! Trent small-packages him out of nowhere...for two. Trent maneuvers into a Dudebuster DDT attempt but Heath dumps him throat-first onto the middle rope. Slater follows up with a flying clothesline/neckbreaker variant and finally ends his long winless streak!

Striker interviews Johnny Curtis...but Bateman and Maxine Perez are quick to make their entrance. Curtis won't stop with the creepy comments so Maxine finally knees him in the lower regions...do we have an understanding? Bateman: "Absolutely!"

Alex Riley earns his money via quick backstage conversation with Percy...the main event is NEXT~!

Percy Watson vs. Titus O'Neil: This is more of a fight than a wrestling match, as you might expect. Solid contest, at any rate...Percy goes aerial to gain an advantage, hitting the OH YEAH~! Showtime Splash...for two. Percy-cution...no, Titus fights out of it and he hits the Clash Of The Titus out of nowhere! That's all she wrote...and Titus continues the abuse after the match. We need a save...Alex Riley! A-Ri clotheslines O'Neil out of the ring and stands tall to close the show...

TNA XPlosion

Your hosts are Jeremy Borash & Taz.

Velvet Sky vs. Angelina Love(w/ Winter Lea): Well, these two have some history...former Beautiful People tag team partners and now enemies. Angelina takes control after throwing Velvet to the floor, giving Winter the opportunity for a cheapshot or two. Velvet finally gets some separation via jawbreaker...looks like El Big Comeback to me. The two counter each other's finishers but Sky gets the win after a standard-issue DDT.

TNA Impact

Your hosts are Mike Tenay & Taz, your ring announcer is Christy Hemme.

The show starts with a backstage brawl between Jeff Hardy and Bully Ray...Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode un-evens the odds, then James Storm tries to help only to take a beating himself. Finally our bat-wielding executive Sting arrives on the scene and the heels retreat.

Mickie James vs. Velvet Sky vs. Tara Varon: Winner gets the next Women's Title shot at Gail Kim. Velvet breaks up Mickie's jumping DDT setup on Tara with a bulldog...however, Tara catches Velvet in the Spiderweb(fireman's-carry spun into a sideslam) to drop her ONTO Mickie! Tara covers Mickie for the surprise win, earning the title shot at Against All Odds!

Sting tries to call the parties in the show-opening brawl to the ring but can barely keep order long enough to set up the tag team main event...Storm suggests a table match and that sounds good to Sting.

Alex Shelley vs. Shiima Xion: X-Division Champion Austin Aries selected Xion to face Shelley in this contenders' match. Shelley wins a fast-paced encounter with Sliced Bread #2 after Xion misses with the 450 Splash, so there's another match for the pay-per-view.

Eric Young & O.D.B. vs. Winter Lea & Angelina Love: COMEDY~! O.D.B. pins Angelina after the BAM(TKO).

Tag Team Champion Matt Morgan(w/ Tommy "Crimson" Mercer) vs. Samoa Joe(w/ Brutus Magnus): The feud over the Tag Titles continues...Crimson beat Magnus last week, now their partners battle. Joe attempts to take out the leg with a spinning toehold, but Morgan kicks him off into the turnbuckles and gets the win after a discus lariat.

As Fortune Turns...A.J. Styles still can't get an answer out of Frankie Kazarian as it seems like Christopher Daniels is pulling Kazarian's strings for some reason. Daniels says he's going to Sting to demand Styles vs. Kazarian for the PPV.

Jeff Hardy & James Storm vs. Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode & Bully Ray, table match: Just as wild of a brawl as the previous encounters on this show...it ends with Hardy giving Roode the Twist Of Fate, then holding him on a table for Storm to deliver a Macho Elbow and smash him through. Ray lays out Hardy and Storm with a chair after the match, then brings in another table for a superbomb on Hardy(with Roode's assistance).

FCW TV

Your hosts are Chris Russo & Byron Saxton, your ring announcer is Danielle Moinet.

General Manager Maxine Perez(w/ Norman Smiley) introduces our opener...

Grand Royale: The rules(since they probably do need explaining): The wrestlers start outside the ring and have to get into the ring within thirty seconds. Once that time limit expires, the wrestlers in the ring start a standard battle royal...and the winner gets a Heavyweight Title shot in the main event. Practically the entire roster is assembled at ringside...and here we go! Holy crap, Eli Cottonwood lives! Seth Rollins doesn't quite make it in thanks to Antonio Cesaro hanging onto his foot...D-OH! Seth doesn't take it well and moonsaults off the top rope onto Cesaro and a bunch of other heels on the floor!

Anywho, our official list of fourteen competitors: Husky Harris, Dean Ambrose, Mike Dalton, Big E Langston, FCW 15 Champion Damien Sandow, Xavier Woods, Richie Steamboat, Roman Leakee, Tag Team Champions Brad Maddox & Briley Pierce, Hunico, Epico Colon, Kenneth Cameron, and Rick Victor. Everyone wisely gangs up on Big E and he's the first one gone. Husky is the next one to suffer a gang attack...he hangs onto the ropes but can't quite make it back in the ring and he's out. For the record, previous Grand Royale winners were Johnny Curtis and Calvin Raines. Sandow kicks Briley over the top rope, then Maddox tries to headscissors Epico out only to hit the floor himself. Xavier sends Hunico to the floor and we're down to eight...Xavier nails Steamboat with the Cactus Clothesline and they're both out. Remaining pairings are Dalton/Victor, Leakee/Sandow, and Cameron/Ambrose...Sandow comically hangs onto the ropes for dear life. Victor backdrops Ambrose over the top out of nowhere...Dean throws a tantrum in response. Leakee and Sandow had recent run-ins with champion Leo Kruger...the other three haven't exactly been top contenders, though Cameron's been pushed in the Ascension. Leakee nearly gets Sandow out, but he gets blindsided by Cameron and Victor and they dump him.

Now it looks like a three-on-one situation against Mike Dalton...Cameron tosses him but he skins the cat to re-enter. Cameron charges and gets low-bridged to the apron...then VICTOR charges and Dalton sidesteps, allowing the collision to send Cameron floorward! Dalton seizes the momentum and plants Victor with an elevated DDT, then throws HIM out! Sandow wastes no time in cutting him off...he throws him over the top rope but he lands on the apron and rolls back in. The fans get behind the underdog as Sandow tries to toss him AGAIN...and AGAIN Dalton hangs on and rolls back in. Sandow loses his cool and beats him down...then gives it one more try only for Dalton to turn the tables! Sandow hangs onto the ropes to save himself...and now he's mad. M-14 neckbreaker is blocked and Dalton counters into the elevated DDT...then one big clothesline sends Sandow to the floor! DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES? Mike Dalton wins the Grand Royale!

Byron gets the post-match interview with the winner...he's used to being the underdog and vows to upset the champion later tonight.

Jason Jordan vs. Abraham Washington: Abe now has Rikishi Phatu's "Bad Man" theme...um, okay. Washington unleashes a PIMP SLAP~! to start things off, firing up Jordan. Byron has warmed up to Abe again, notably. The In Yo Face setup turns into a legdrop instead of the usual elbow, so Jordan kicks out of the pin attempt at two. A second attempt at an In Yo Face legdrop misses the mark and Jordan goes on the attack...but Abe cuts him off with a swinging neckbreaker and that's enough for the three-count. Cue the post-match promo...he tries to interview the loser only to shoo him out of the ring instead. Heh.

Audrey Marie vs. Raquel Diaz, Women's Title vs. Queen's Crown: Okay, let's see if these stay unified this time. Russo says the crown ISN'T on the line...hopefully we get this figured out by the end of the match. Feeling out to start(not like THAT) and Audrey gets an early two-count with an Oklahoma roll. Audrey Matrixes and manevers into a flying headscissors, but Raquel cuts her off with a drop toehold and rolls her up...for two. Raquel keeps the advantage with heel tactics...a lot of hair-pulling and trash-talking ensues. Audrey gets a blind cross-body off the second rope out of nowhere but Raquel rolls through...for two. Despite the reversal, Audrey goes on offense and sets up for the Roundup...but Raquel blocks and maneuvers her into the Gory Bomb! Cover, pin and we have a new FCW Women's Champion! She wastes no time in gloating about her victory, as you might expect...

Leo Kruger vs. Mike Dalton for the Heavyweight Title: It took Dalton forever to even win a match in FCW competition...and now he's competing for the big belt in the TV main event. Will lightning strike twice for the Lance Storm trainee? Kruger stalls a bit, hoping to slow the momentum of his upstart challenger...but Dalton gets a crucifix for two. Sunset flip for two. Rollup for two. KICK WHAM...no, Kruger backs out to the ropes to avoid an elevated DDT. Kruger rakes the eyes over the referee's shoulder, that'll slow things down. Byron finally notes that Kruger is fresh while Dalton had to go through the Grand Royale just to get here. Dalton fires back with a jumping enzuigiri, but Kruger blocks another elevated DDT attempt by backdropping him to the floor.

Kruger keeps up the pressure with some ringside abuse...but Dalton won't stay down. Kruger takes his time in delivering a series of short-arm clotheslines...but only gets a two-count. Leo plants him with a huge spinebuster...for two. Second floor...legdrop misses! Leo tries going to the ropes again but eats a dropkick...then Dalton follows up with the top-rope Frankensteiner! Dalton is slow to cover...and gets two-and-a-half. Dalton fights for a tornado DDT but Kruger powers him off...and gets the sleeperhold! Dalton kicks off the turnbuckles and flips on top...for two-and-a-half! Kruger stays on him and nails a Jackhammer...for two-and-a-half! Final Destination(swinging fisherman buster)...no, Dalton counters out of it, KICK WHAM ELEVATED DDT! One...two...foot on the rope! Dalton tries to press the advantage but Leo rolls him up with a handful of tights...for two-and-a-half! Kruger grabs him in the sleeperhold again...and Dalton gives him a jawbreaker! Dalton tries to pull him down into a victory roll, but Kruger wheelbarrows him up into another sleeperhold! That finally takes the fight out of Dalton and Leo keeps him down for the submission victory...but it was far closer than anyone would have guessed.

Next week: Damien Sandow vs. Richie Steamboat for the FCW 15 Title. So long from the Sunshine State!

Comedy Part 426: Capping Off A Rainy Night

Location: Comedy Etc. II
Emcee: Matt Idoux
After: Kevin Bunetic
Before: None(on last)

Test-ran a few new ideas...they need some work but it's good to get them on the table, so to speak. I'm noticing certain jokes that I tend to "fall back on" and want to avoid those so I can work on other bits. The weather may have been a factor in the attendance but it was still a fun show. Some great shows at Etc. this weekend with Gabriel Rutledge and Jodi White...most tremendous.

Royal Rumble Dork Stats

#1 & #2 Entrants:
Bret Hart & Tito Santana
Demolition Ax & Demolition Smash
Ted DiBiase & Koko B. Ware
Bret Hart & Dino Bravo
Davey Boy Smith & Ted DiBiase
Ric Flair & Bob Backlund
Scott Steiner & Headshrinker Samu
Shawn Michaels & Davey Boy Smith
Triple H & Henry Godwinn
Crush & Ahmed Johnson
Cactus Jack & Terry Funk
Steve Austin & Vince McMahon
D-Lo Brown & Brian Christopher
Jeff Hardy & Bull Buchanan
Rikishi Phatu & Goldust
Shawn Michaels & Chris Jericho
Chris Benoit & Randy Orton
Eddy Guerrero & Chris Benoit
Triple H & Rey Misterio Jr.
Ric Flair & Fit Finlay
Undertaker & Shawn Michaels
Rey Misterio Jr. & John Morrison
Dolph Ziggler & Evan Bourne
C.M. Punk & Daniel Bryan

Some unlucky people in that list...Bret, Flair, Shawn, DiBiase, Benoit, Bulldog, HHH, and Rey to name a few. Some people were stuck at #1 by a heel authority figure or even requested the spot...it does give one an opportunity to shoot for an endurance record. (Rey FINALLY got a decent draw last year.)

Final Entrants:
Junkyard Dog(#20), Ted DiBiase, Mr. Perfect, Tugboat, Warlord, Randy Savage, Adam Bomb, Crush, Duke Droese, Undertaker, Vader, Chyna, X-Pac, Rikishi Phatu, Booker T, Undertaker, Bill Goldberg, Ric Flair, Randy Orton, Undertaker, John Cena, Big Show, Batista, Kane(#40)

Taker is the luck-of-the-draw winner, getting #30 on three occasions(and often drawing a late entry at other Rumbles). Despite the advantage of the slot, it wasn't until 2007 that the final entry actually won the Rumble...and then it happened two years in a row.

Winners:
Hacksaw Jim Duggan(#13 of 20), Big John Studd(#27), Hulk Hogan(#25), Hulk Hogan(#24), Ric Flair(#3), Yokozuna(#27), Lex Luger(#23)/Bret Hart(#27), Shawn Michaels(#1), Shawn Michaels(#18), Steve Austin(#5), Steve Austin(#24), Vince McMahon(#2), The Rock(#24), Steve Austin(#27), Triple H(#22), Brock Lesnar(#29), Chris Benoit(#1), Batista(#28), Rey Misterio Jr.(#2), Undertaker(#30), John Cena(#30), Randy Orton(#8), Edge(#29), Alberto Del Rio(#38 of 40)

The winner often seems to come from the early or late entries...the middle of the pack seems to be the actual kiss of death. The winner only came from that field on two occasions(depending on how you count Duggan). #27 is popularly noted as the most successful slot, producing the winner on four occasions.

Runners-Up:
One Man Gang(#19 of 20), Ted DiBiase(#30), Mr. Perfect(#30), Earthquake(#22), Sid Justice(#29), Randy Savage(#30), Luger(#23)/Bret(#27), Davey Boy Smith(#2), Diesel(#22), Bret Hart(#21), The Rock(#4), Steve Austin(#1), Big Show(#26), Kane(#6), Kurt Angle(#26), Undertaker(#30), Big Show(#24), John Cena(#25), Randy Orton(#30), Shawn Michaels(#23), Triple H(#29), Triple H(#7), John Cena(#19), Santino Marella(#37 of 40)

#30 seems to be the prime spot for the bridesmaid, actually...1995 was the first time the Rumble ended with #1 and #2(though it was the abbreviated one-minute interval version)...it happened again in the Russo-rific 1999 Rumble. 2003 was the first time the Rumble ended with #29 and #30(it happened again in 2008). 2006 was the first time it ended with a guy who started the Rumble(Rey at #2) and the final entry(Randy at #30).

Endurance Marks(source: www.prowrestlinghistory.com):
Bret Hart(25:42), Mr. Perfect(27:58), Ted DiBiase(44:47), Rick Martel(52:17)(honorable mention to Greg Valentine at 44:03), Ric Flair(59:26), Bob Backlund(61:10), Bam Bam Bigelow(30:12), Shawn Michaels/Davey Boy Smith(38:41), Triple H(48:01), Steve Austin(45:07), The Rock(51:32), Vince McMahon/Steve Austin(56:38), Test(26:17), Kane(53:46)(honorable mention to The Rock at 38:42), Steve Austin(26:46), Chris Jericho(38:54), Chris Benoit(61:30), Chris Benoit(47:26), Rey Misterio Jr.(62:12)(honorable mention to Triple H at 60:09), Edge(44:02), Triple H(49:51), John Cena(22:11), C.M. Punk(35:21)

These vary wildly depending on the time intervals...it was set at two minutes with the first Rumble(only 20 entrants), changed to one minute in 1995, then varied from 2 to 1:30 to 1:00 over the years. Rey is the current holder of the endurance record with Chris Benoit coming in second.

Most Eliminations:
11(Kane in 2001), 10(Steve Austin in 1997), 8(Shawn Michaels in 1995, Shawn in 1996, Austin in 1999), 7(Hulk Hogan in 1991, Yokozuna in 1993, Lex Luger in 1994, Diesel in 1994, Steve Austin in 1998, Rikishi in 2000, Austin in 2002, John Cena and C.M. Punk in 2011)

Big runs of eliminations have often helped to push wrestlers...Diesel's dominance in '94 was the start of his big push.

WWE Raw

-Your hosts are Jerry Lawler & Voldemort.
-Dolph Ziggler & U.S. Champion Jack Swagger(w/ Vickie Guerrero) d. WWE Champion C.M. Punk & John Cena. General Manager Johnny Ace took offense to Punk telling the referee to move aside so he could climb the ropes, distracting Punk long enough for Ziggler to get the pin via O'Connor Roll and handful of tights.
-Chris Jericho's Hi-Lite Reel featured him...finally talking for a moment to plug his participation in the Royal Rumble matchup.
-A falls-count-anywhere match between Zack Ryder(w/ Eve Torres) and Kane ended in a no-contest after Kane chokeslammed Ryder through a section of the entrance stage. John Cena chased Kane off but the damage had been done.
-Sheamus O'Shaunessy d. Jinder Mahal with the Brogue Kick; Wade Barrett did commentary for the match.
-Brodus Clay(w/ Naomi Night & Cameron Lynn) d. Heath Slater with the Fall Of Humanity; S. William Regal did commentary for the match on the heels of his dance showdown with Clay on Smackdown.
-"R-Truth" Ron Killings d. Mike Mizanin via Paydirt; the loss meant that Miz would be #1 in the Royal Rumble.
-WWE Champion C.M. Punk vs. John Laurinaitis(w/ David Otunga)(n/t) didn't happen; Johnny said his job performance was under review so he called off the match. Otunga attacked Punk only to be caught in the Anaconda Vice and then leveled with a big roundhouse kick. Ace tried to offer a handshake but Punk pulled him into the Go 2 Sleep. However, Ziggler nailed Punk from behind with the Zigzag to close the show.

Special Comment Extra

Regarding Vaughn's heel turn...there's actually a lot of motivation if you look at the history books. Vaughn lost the Heavyweight Title to Future due to interference, but he didn't get an immediate rematch and Gary got the first shot, winning the title. Vaughn pinned Gary clean to win the T.V. Title but never got a shot at the big belt to the best of my recollection. He was screwed out of the T.V. Title as well...then nearly beat Gary in the Lemay tournament only to fall victim to a last-gasp pin reversal. There's been plenty of reason for Vaughn to get frustrated...so there you have it.

NWA Anarchy TV #312

Your hosts are Tim E.D. & John Johnson...it's time for Seasons' Beatings!

Bo Newsom vs. Anthony Henry for the Young Lions' Title: Henry wastes no time in getting the action started...Johnson is not available for commentary so ring announcer Brett Wolverton joins Tim at the table. The fight ends up on the ring apron and Newsom stops Henry in his tracks with a falling inverted DDT onto the edge of the ring! Bo focuses on the back but Henry leapfrogs behind Newsom for a German suplex out of nowhere...for two. Henry endures a series of backbreakers to mount a full-fledged comeback...the two counter each other's suplex attempts but Bo hits a spinebuster...for two. Henry delivers a jumping enzuigiri and a huge running forearm smash...for two. He tries for a powerslam but Bo counters into the SMALL PACKAGE~!...and only gets 2 1/2! Newsom gives him a few insulting kicks but Henry takes him down into the Texas Cloverleaf, forcing Bo to go to the ropes. Bo decides to take his leave and Henry gives chase...the count reaches nine and Henry gets back in the ring, but Newsom does not. Henry wins by countout but doesn't win the Young Lions' Title.

Brodie Ray Chase makes his entrance...he admits that Bo's move was smart since he kept his title, but he decides to cover his bases for the rematch. How about a fan lumberjack/strap match? That'll work.

Skirra Corvus, Jacob Ashworth, & Dustin Knight vs. Andrew Pendleton III, Bobby Moore, & John Skyler: Johnson has rejoined the commentary team...lucky us. Skyler stops Knight from hitting a move off the second turnbuckle, allowing Moore to yank him to the mat by the leg. Knight takes a serious beating from the opposing trio...but Knight plants AP3 with a major DDT and finally makes the tag to Corvus! Corvus focuses on Skyler in the corner and Pendleton and Moore try to help, but Ashworth and Knight powerbomb them off the turnbuckles! Skyler tries to fight off Corvus, but Corvus pulls himself up from Tree Of Woe position to German-suplex him off the ropes! AP3 breaks up a potential Graveyard Shift, but Ashworth drops Pendleton with Ashes-To-Ashes. Corvus fights out of a double-team and Skyler's slingshot spear hits Moore by mistake! Corvus gets Skyler up on his shoulders and Knight delivers a Steamboat Press on Skyler from that position! That's enough for Corvus to pin Skyler for the victory.

Slim J & Bryan Cassanova vs. Armed & Dangerous(Lane Vasser & Johnny Dangerous) for the Tag Team Titles: It's a face/face battle for the belts...slight backstory as Slim J has trained many of the Cornelia up-and-comers including Vasser and Dangerous. Neither side holds a sustained advantage for several minutes...the commentators talk up Vasser's recent increased aggression as as well as a potential Cassanova/Vasser showdown. Cassanova powers Dangerous to the mat, then tags in Slim J who delivers a moonsault off his partner's shoulders! Slim J is isolated from his partner after Dangerous hits a somersault neckbreaker off the second rope, but Dangerous goes for the move again and Slim fights out to hit a top-rope Frankensteiner! Finally the powerhouses tag into the match to square off...J and Dangerous re-enter the fray(Dangerous tags himself back in) only to be caught in mid-air by their respective opponents. Cassanova TKOs Dangerous as Vasser delivers a fireman's-carry spinebuster on J...both make the cover and the referee makes a three-count! Vasser wasn't aware of the tag and it was Cassanova's pin on Dangerous that was counted so the champs retain. Vasser blows his top and grabs one of the title belts...BELT to Cassanova! BELT to Slim J! BELT to his own partner Dangerous! Ladies and gentlemen, we have a heel turn...and Slim J is left bloody on the mat.

MMWA Special Comment

Big crowd for the first South Broadway show of 2012...only one match was announced ahead of time, but it was a big title matchup that had been built for the past few months.

The first half of the show had solid in-ring action...when Mauler came out with a bullrope, I joked that I finally knew who took Poodoo The Cow's cowbell. :-D A bit surprised that Courageous got the win over Archer, but Archer's feuding with the ring announcer in SICW and Courageous still has his rematch clause for the Jr. Heavyweight Title. Osborne faced the Jr. Heavyweight Champion again(honestly don't remember if it was a title match) but it took a lot from Hawkins to keep him down.

Onward to the second part of the event...Tony Raze and Jimmy D had a falling-out after Jimmy(under the Waco mask) cost Raze and Big Texan the Tag Team Titles at the Lemay show. Raze and Jimmy had a shot at the Lumberjacks at the December show but didn't win the belts, resulting in Jimmy bringing his brother Frankie D out of retirement for this grudge match. The match...um...yeah...it wasn't very good. Nope. Not good at all. Nope. Nope. They fought to a draw(mistakenly announced as a double countout at first by ring announcer Ben Simon) which means they'll be fighting AGAIN! WOO~!

My initial speculation was that Cruz-Vaughn would have an indecisive finish of some kind to set up a rematch, but Vaughn's post-match attack did that quite effectively even with Cruz getting the decisive victory. Really good contest here; the rematch should be tremendous as well.

With the last two Gary Jackson-Brandon Espinosa matches ending with run-in DQs, they set this up as a lumberjack match. Sadly, that stipulation in recent years has meant that they're simply saving the interfering wrestlers the trouble of running all the way from the backstage area to get involved(as we saw on Smackdown). The Cruz-Vaughn issue spilled over into this matchup, resulting in Espinosa finally capturing the title...I hadn't even realized that Gary had held the belt for over a year(he won it from Future in December 2010).

Espy now holds both the Heavyweight and T.V. Titles in MMWA as well as the PWE Heavyweight Title...he also takes credit for training both Ace Hawkins and Dave Osborne who are well-decorated in their own young careers. I can recall some of the first few times I saw Espy in action and how he emulated Eddy Guerrero...and I noted the irony of his big title win resulting from someone else's spear and then a frog splash(a la Eddy's WWE Title victory). :)

It seemed anticlimatic to tack a battle royal onto the show after it peaked with the title match...it was already past 10:00 and people were starting to leave. Several storylines in the night worked into the battle royal, particularly Cruz/Vaughn(as Cruz eliminated Vaughn to end his title reign) and American Riders/Texan/Raze. I believe Osborne was a Tag Champ in PWE but this was his first singles title victory...nicely done.

Elsewhere this weekend, Tyler Priegel won the NMW Heavyweight Title from Ryan Phoenix. ROH experienced a mini-invasion from CHIKARA as Jigsaw & Hallowicked faced Tag Team Champions The Briscoe Brothers, upsetting them in a non-title match. It was a bad weekend to be a champion as T.V. Champion Jay Lethal lost a non-title encounter to Tommaso Ciampa. Eddie Edwards was unable to compete due to a staph infection.

Nothing local next weekend...3XW has a big show as NWA Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce will be defending against Jeremy Wyatt next Friday. February looks like IHW on the 4th, MMWA on the 11th, SICW on the 18th, a benefit show in Bethalto on Sunday the 19th, and SLA on the 25th. Dynamo doesn't run again until April and MECW is off until March.

Saturday MMWA Results From St. Louis, MO

-Chase King d. Mauler with the Paydirt.
-Johnny Courageous d. Max Archer via jumping enzuigiri.
-Ace Hawkins d. Dave Osborne with the somersault Ace Crusher off the top rope to retain the Jr. Heavyweight Title.
-The American Riders(Jimmy D & Frankie D) fought The Big Texan & Tony Raze to a fifteen-minute time-limit draw.
-Ricky Cruz d. Battle Royal Champion Dave Vaughn(n/t) via swinging fisherman suplex. Vaughn attacked Cruz after the match and dropped him with a double-underhook DDT before choking him out with a guillotine lock. After Cruz recovered from the assault, he challenged Vaughn to a no-DQ rematch at next month's show(February 11th).
-T.V. Champion Brandon Espinosa d. Gary Jackson in a lumberjack match to win the Heavyweight Title. The Cruz-Vaughn tension from the previous match spilled over into this one, leading to Vaughn spearing Jackson while the referee was holding back Cruz. That gave Espinosa the opening to deliver the frog splash and pin Jackson for the title! Cruz and Vaughn brawled after the match and it took quite some time to restore order in the ring area...
-Dave Osborne won a battle royal to capture the Battle Royal Title. Max Archer was the first one eliminated, followed by Chase King. Jimmy & Frankie D and Big Texan all went out in one big heap. Tony Raze was next to the floor, followed by Jr. Heavyweight Champion Ace Hawkins(as Osborne avenged his earlier defeat). Cruz caught reigning Battle Royal Champion Vaughn with a clothesline against the ropes that sent both men flying to the floor, ending Vaughn's title reign. That left Courageous and Osborne...size won out as Osborne powered out of a Sliced Bread #2 attempt to toss Courageous over the top rope for the win!

WWE Smackdown

-Santino Marella d. Drew McIntyre via Cobra in a blindfold match.
-Daniel Bryan fought Mark Henry to a no-contest in a lumberjack match to retain the World Title; Bryan appeared to intentionally provoke the lumberjacks on a few occasions until the situation erupted into a huge brawl. Bryan walked away with the belt as everyone else fought, but General Manager Theodore Long met him backstage and ordered Bryan vs. Big Show vs. Henry in a cage match for the Royal Rumble...

XPlosion, Superstars, Impact

TNA XPlosion

Your hosts are Jeremy Borash & Taz.

Jesse Sorensen vs. Shiima Xion: Xion is sporting a new spiky hairdo. YAY WRESTLING~! FLIPPIES~! Xion does not want to be hit in the face...and he flips out when Sorensen finally does so. Xion targets the arm with gusto...he clotheslines Jesse to the floor and follows him out with a huge moonsault press off the second turnbuckle! However, Xion goes to the well once too often and Jesse raises the knees to block a second-rope moonsault. Sounds like it's time for El Big Comeback...Sorensen's arm is still hurting but he nails the Steamboat Press...for two. Xion delivers a move that starts like a back suplex where he flips him over into a facebuster(Hostile Makeover)...for two. Shiima goes topside for the 450 Splash...nothing but mat! Jesse plants him with the inverted swinging neckbreaker but he has something else in mind for the finish...shooting star press nearly overshoots Xion but it's still enough for the win! Borash calls it the Lone Star Press...that'll work.

WWE Superstars.com

Your hosts are Josh Mathews, Matt Striker, & Scott Stanford.

Tamina Snuka vs. Natalya Neidhart: Tamina has been on a roll in recent weeks with two straight wins over Nattie. Natalya takes over by yanking Tamina into the turnbuckles, then focuses on the midsection with an abdominal stretch. Tamina hiptosses out of that predicament but Nattie mows her down with a Hart Attack-style clothesline...for two. Nattie locks on her new Indian deathlock/surfboard hold but can't get the submission so she resorts to a basic chokehold. Nattie misses a big legdrop and Tamina makes the comeback...but her superkick is blocked and Natalya attempts the Sharpshooter. Tamina counters with a small package...for two. Tamina nails the Samoan Drop out of nowhere...she goes to the ropes but Nattie cuts her off. Superplex is blocked and Tamina fights her off with a headbutt...Superfly Splash hits and that's the ballgame!

Mason Ryan & Santino Marella vs. Tyler Reks & Curt Hawkins: With new Tag Team Champions being crowned this past week, the duos are lining up for a shot at the belts. Ryan & Santino look good as a unit in the early stages of the match, but Reks & Hawkins are the more experienced duo and they isolate Marella from his corner. A Santino Stunner finally gives him the opening to tag in Mason Ryan...time to clean house! Ryan clears out Reks, then tags Santino back in to finish off Hawkins with the Cobra.

Alex Riley vs. Jinder Mahal: Mahal quickly brawls his way into an advantage...this would have been a no-brainer a few months ago. Riley fires back and delivers his out-of-the-corner DDT for an early two-count, but Jinder fires back with a high knee to establish control. The fans chant "USA" and at least one of our match participants is American so Riley starts the rally. However, Mahal escapes the Final Score(TKO) to deliver a Northern Lights Bomb(!)...the camel clutch is hooked and Riley is forced to tap out.

TNA Impact

-Your hosts are Mike Tenay & Taz, your ring announcer is Christy Hemme.
-Phil Gunner(w/ Ric Flair) d. A.J. Styles via DDT after a cheapshot from Frankie Kazarian(who got his marching orders from Christopher Daniels).
-Tag Team Champion Tommy "Crimson" Mercer d. Brutus Magnus with the Red Sky. Samoa Joe helped Magnus double-team Crimson after the match and they got the better of Matt Morgan as well when he attempted to make the save.
-Mickie James d. Madison Rayne in a cage match with the jumping DDT.
-Eric Young d. Angelina Love(w/ Winter Lea) by DQ after Angelina kicked Young below the belt. O.D.B. ran in to help but was double-teamed until EY threw Winter and Angelina out of the ring.
-Jeff Hardy vs. James Storm ended in a no-contest when Bully Ray busted up the match, laying out both competitors and multiple referees. Sting fought him off with a baseball bat, but then Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode hit the ring and BELTed both Hardy and Storm.

Not much to talk about...had a decent set, I guess. Haven't written much new material in a while and I'm feeling repetitive lately. Hopefully I can get out of that creative rut soon. Want to get to more bar shows so I can try out different bits, but it depends on my work schedule and I'm burning myself out as it is. Wish I had the energy of some of the other comics...a few of them did the Etc. show and then went elsewhere to do another show in the same night. Maybe I would be better off as a writer...who knows?

WWE NXT5.com

Your hosts are Josh Mathews and Voldemort, your ring announcer is Lilian Garcia.

Titus O'Neil vs. Darren Young, No-DQ Match: Titus takes control with a powerslam on the floor before throwing Young into the barricade, but Young catches him on re-entry with a neckbreaker on the ring apron. Young gives O'Neil a taste of his own barricade as he maintains control. Young hits the Gut Check...but only gets 2 1/2. He goes for it again and Titus pushes him off into the ropes, then nails the Clash Of The Titus on the rebound for the three-count. Titus does a post-match promo...and turns heel, trashing the show and ripping on Hornswoggle for abandoning him.

Percy Watson vs. Heath Slater: Trying to ignore the commentary, for the record. Solid matchup between the NXT alumni...Percy gets the win with the Percy-cution.

Backstage, Johnny Curtis & Maxine Perez fuss over their upcoming wedding. Curtis hits on Kaitlyn Bonin in the meantime...

Yoshi Tatsu & Trent Barreta vs. Tyler Reks & Curt Hawkins: I'm just watching, folks. Yoshi takes abuse before a hot tag to Trent...however, Hawkins stops him with a cheapshot from his cane behind the referee's back. That allows Reks to finish off Barreta with Soylent Green(IT'S PEOPLE~!).

Wedding time! Get my gun. Matt Striker decides to conduct the ceremony in an Elvis Presley getup...why not. I take a bathroom break. Derrick Bateman interrupts as expected...he has some GTV footage of Curtis "borrowing" Bateman's iPad to send the e-mail to General Manager Theodore Long. Maxine slaps Curtis in the face...so much for that wedding. Cue the brawl...Maxine lends a hand and Bateman plans Curtis with the Mantastic DDT. Bateman is ready to walk away from this...but Maxine slaps him in the face and then kisses him. Back together again...

Good to make the list for the first time in a while...have been told by a few people that I deserve to be on stage there more often. Went up fairly early and was originally set to go up after Bill Davis but Andi wanted to follow Bill with a few choice lines...bwahahaha. Good to see her as she hadn't been there on Tuesday in a while. She had a joke about her boyfriend being a baseball card nut, so I followed THAT up with a line about how I'd have to tell my future wife why I have six different versions of Starscream. :-D (I honestly forget how many different Starscreams I have...G1, Pretender without the shell, Armada, Energon, and I think one other version. Didn't get the Masterpiece Starscream with the crown...*sob*) Oh yeah, standup comedy...set went all right, could have been better. The call center jokes appear to be duds...oh well. Hated to end on the Valentine's Day joke but at least it's "in-season" right now...

WWE Raw

-Primo & Epico Colon(w/ Rosa Mendes) d. Air Boom to retain the Tag Team Titles when Epico pinned Evan Bourne after the backcracker.
-Jack Swagger(w/ Vickie Guerrero) d. Zack Ryder(w/ Eve Torres) after three Doctor Bombs to win the U.S. Title; Ryder was injured from last week's attack by Kane.
-Kelly K & Alicia Fox d. The Bella Twins; ring announcer Perez Hilton prevented a double-switch, leading to Kelly getting the rollup pin on Nikki(?).
-U.S. Champion Jack Swagger vs. John Cena(n/t) never officially started as Cena just attacked Swagger and never let up. Kane appeared and congratulated Cena on finally "embracing the hate"...
-Brodus Clay(w/ Naomi Night & Cameron Lynn) d. J.T.G. with the Fall Of Humanity.
-Dolph Ziggler, Mark Henry, & David Otunga(w/ Vickie Guerrero) d. WWE Champion C.M. Punk, World Champion Daniel Bryan, & Chris Jericho by DQ. Jericho tagged into the match, celebrated like crazy, then tagged back out and walked away...ha ha. Bryan and Henry fought to the back and Mick Foley came out, claiming that General Manager Johnny Ace had allowed him to enter the match. Foley got the tag from Punk and beat down Otunga, delivering the double-underhook DDT and finishing with the Mandible Socko. However, Ace came out and said that he never permitted Foley to enter the match, reversing the decision of the match. The show ended with Punk cutting a blistering promo on Ace, then Foley goading Ace into admitting that he fully intends to screw Punk at the Rumble. Ace freaked out on Foley and even went so far as to hit him with the microphone before storming out of the ring.

MECW Special Comment

My year in local wrestling began on a busy weekend...AAPW had one of their biggest shows ever in Marion with Colt Cabana and El Generico on the card, plus SICW opened their 2012 in East Carondelet. The dog collar match was the only match announcement ahead of time...well, that and Justin Reno defending his Heavyweight Title against a mystery opponent.

No Mizfitt Manners or Myranda in the house, so Sinn Enterprises were a bit shorthanded for the night...

No, I hadn't made the connection between Gabriel Brimstone's exit from wrestling and Sarin Sinn's rise in MECW. I immediately joked that a) he should put the mask back on and b) now we know why Brimstone never talked. :) SWERVE~! since Sinn had originally said on Facebook that he wouldn't be at the show.

Eric Allen's retirement only lasted a few months...yeah, I know how those go in wrestling.

This was a very strong show in terms of in-ring action...can't think of too many low spots on the card. It looks like Shorty is becoming a regular there, which is cool with me.

Ace Hawkins came out slapping hands...then did a heel promo saying he had just used the restroom and didn't wash his hands. Har har. Fine matchup with Dave Osborne...Dave has quietly become a solid competitor(he just finished up his own rookie year).

The dog collar match was about as violent as you could get without any blood...the two traded sick chairshots to the head that made everyone cringe and would have infuriated a Torch columnist. Was especially concerned for Shawn Santel since he had neck problems in the past that forced him to step away from wrestling for a while. While Count Kharfu technically won the match decisively(the referee was down when Santel had him covered, then Kharfu hit his own finisher and had him pinned), it was Ace Hawkins counting the fall and Sinn simply put his stamp of approval on that "decision". Another joke on my part: "There's another title change Crimefighter won't recognize." :)

Sinn Enterprises had all the gold...until Sinn decided to reactivate the Great Plains Title(it had been unified with the Heavyweight Title in the Bailey Mannix-Eric Allen Ironman Match). Fine matchup between Mauler McDarby and Brandon Espinosa...McDarby got the clean win for, amazingly, his first singles title EVER. Cool for him...I remember his earliest matches from South Broadway and he's slimmed down quite a bit since those days. The guy deserves a lot of credit for his hard work...

The Tag Title match was the only real low point of the night and it wasn't even that bad. It was tough to buy Joey as the face in peril, I guess...but the champs were retaining and Seals was the one to take the fall in that situation. Guess it averted one of my pet peeves in recent months(a guy getting a hot tag and cleaning house, then quickly tagging his tired and battered partner back into the match).

The audience was psyched for the whole night(Monster Energy~!), even for the main event with a heel referee. My main question for the rematch at the next show is simple...what's keeping Sinn from naming himself as the ref for THAT encounter?

As I said, busy weekend on the indy scene...the St. Louis Anarchy scene was affected by ACW's show on Sunday as several belts changed hands. Davey Vega won the T.V. Title from Scot Summers in a four-way dance that also included Jerry Lynn and Mat Fitchett. Also, Angel Blue captured the Joshi Title from Athena, Matthew Palmer beat Masada for the Hardcore Title, and J.C. Bravo regained the U-30 Title from Chingo Del Santo. After all those title changes, A.C.H. still managed to hang onto his belt against Gary Jay.

Next weekend is South Broadway...can't think of anyone running in the last weekend of January. Light month, which is fine by my budget...

FCW TV

Updated intro! Your hosts are Chris Russo & Byron Saxton, your ring announcer is Danielle Moinet.

Audrey Marie vs. Caylee Turner for the Women's Title: Caylee takes advantage as she counters a re-entry sunset flip by shoving her off the apron. The commentators do mention Caylee's participation in Tough Enough...the fact that she's Alicia Fox's sister is not mentioned. A missed legdrop by Turner allows Audrey to make the comeback...and she finishes with the Roundup(Eye Of The Hurricane) to retain the title.

Queen Raquel Diaz enlightens us...with Briley Pierce actively wrestling nowadays, they need to invest in a new interviewer. Raquel wastes no time in taking a few shots at Audrey Marie...she wonders if the Women's Champion should have a banner on the wall as well...

Xavier Woods vs. Antonio Cesaro: Xavier does the pre-match promo, continuing his "motivational speaker" schtick...though it may take more than positivity to win this match. YAY WRESTLING~! Cesaro uses his power advantage to deliver a deadlift gutwrench suplex, keeping Xavier grounded for a while...but Woods gets him in a crucifix for a near-fall. Xavier rallies with a combination of fists and then a single-knee Codebreaker...for two. Cesaro stops him in his tracks with a huge European uppercut...for two. A reversal sequence ends in a jumping enzuigiri by Woods...for two. Woods goes to the top rope...but misses the missile dropkick. Cesaro takes him down with a modified STO and goes straight into an Anaconda Vise-esque headlock submission hold for the sudden tapout!

James Bronson suddenly fancies himself a therapist as he's counseling General Manager Maxine Perez backstage...though he appears to go through her purse after she leaves.

Seth Rollins vs. Jinder Mahal: Interesting matchup here...Mahal has made waves in WWE lately. Seth clotheslines Jinder out of the ring and hits a major suicide dive that nearly ends in a bad landing for him! Rollins sets up for a springboard move in the ring but Mahal bails out of the ring, then lures Seth into a kneelift on re-entry. Seth nearly gets caught in the Sands Of Time v2.0(full nelson slam) on two occasions but escapes the move both times...Mahal likewise blocks Avada Kedavra but gets caught in a victory roll...for two. Rollins drops him on the middle turnbuckle with a Flatliner...then escapes ANOTHER attempt at the Sands Of Time v2.0 to deliver a jumping enzuigiri and advanced cubstomp. Avada Kedavra hits this time and Seth picks up a big win!

Brad Maddox & Briley Pierce vs. Los Aviadores(Hunico & Epico Colon) for the Tag Team Titles: Hunico & Epico are obviously not using their old team name any more as they are currently maskless...they were two-time Florida Tag Team Champions. Who are the faces in THIS match, I wonder? For those who didn't hear, Epico and Primo captured the WWE Tag Team Titles at a house show on Sunday by defeating Air Boom...Primo has now been a WWE Tag Champ with both his brother Carlito and his cousin Epico. The teams decide to just wrestle in the early going...a change from the usual tag match flow. The champs make quick tags to dish out abuse on Epico...Briley comes up with a unique counter to a potential double-team, then Brad enters uncharted territory as he joins Briley for stereo planchas!

Okay, I guess the champs are the faces for tonight...Epico blind-tags and Hunico catches Maddox in a swinging neckbreaker, then Epico enters with a slingshot swanton. Now the former champs are in command...but Brad ducks and dodges his way into a tag to Pierce! Briley comes up wiht a Steamboat Press on Hunico for two, then gets a crucifix for another two-count. Briley goes to the second rope, but Epico distracts him long enough for Hunico to bash him to the floor...looks like the tide has turned once again. Double-hiptoss-into-double-powerbomb gets two for Hunico. Pierce is in the wrong part of the barrio as Maddox tries to adjust to this strange new thing called "fan support". Dueling cross-bodyblocks leave both Briley and Hunico down...looks like a race to tag...and both men tag! Never thought I'd say this...Brad Maddox is a house afire! Maddox takes Hunico out of the game but gets rolled up by Epico for a close near-fall. Briley blind-tags in as Epico gets Maddox in an O'Connor Roll, then lets Epico know about the tag with a DDT! Cover...Hunico saves. Brad dumps Hunico to the floor but gets pulled out himself...back in the ring, Briley jumps off the second rope into a bizarre takedown and pinning combination on Epico for the three-count!

Next week: The Grand Royale with the winner getting a shot at Heavyweight Champion Leo Kruger later in the night. So long from the Sunshine State!

Comedy Part 423: Nick's Pub

Location: Nick's Pub
Emcee: Nic Coambs
After: Dre
Before: Hank Lamlech

Since I was off work Monday, I decided to check out the Sunday open-mic at Nick's Pub for the first time. I had heard good things about the shows...definitely a lively audience, though they were occasionally chatty. Comics got about seven minutes(the time depending on the number of comics)...tried a handful of new lines but mostly stuck to what worked(being in a new venue and all). Good time was had by all and I hope to go to that show more often in the future...a lot depends on my work schedule though.

NWA Anarchy TV #311

Your hosts are Tim E.D. & John Johnson.

Jacob Ashworth vs. Adrian Hawkins: It's a battle of former Young Lions' Champions to kick things off. Hawkins takes out the leg to gain control, but Ashworth is able to make the one-legged comeback. Jacob hits Ashes-To-Ashes(full nelson into a wheelbarrow faceplant) but Hawkins barely gets a hand on the bottom rope to escape defeat. He tries to set up a top-rope bulldog but Hawkins pushes him off...leading to Ashworth's knee buckling on the landing. Hawkins delivers a dropkick to the knee from the second rope to increase the damage...the Sharpshooter is academic from there as he gets the tapout win.

Anthony Henry vs. John Skyler: Henry has been in pursuit of Bo Newsom's Young Lions' Title in recent weeks, though that put him on the wrong end of a belt-whipping not too long ago. Henry nails a suicide dive at one point but appears to land badly on the floor in the process. The two fight on the apron and Henry re-enters first, but Skyler delivers a nice slingshot spear through the ropes to cut off his momentum. Skyler focuses his attack on the midsection after that...Henry appears to be busted open from his bad landing on the floor. Henry fights out of a superplex and delivers a missile dropkick, leaving both men down. The two trade kicks and Henry blocks Sliced Bread #2 before catching Skyler in a powerslam...for two. An exchange on the ropes leads to Skyler attempting the slingshot spear again, but Henry avoids it this time and gets an Oklahoma roll...for two. They trade pinning combinations for near-falls until Skyler gets in a Dudebuster DDT...for 2 1/2! Lionsault...hits the knees! Henry hits a jumping enzuigiri, then plants him with a huge brainbuster to earn a hard-fought victory. Suddenly, Andrew Pendleton III & Bobby Moore attack Henry...and Newsom takes his sweet time joining the proceedings. Bo takes off his belt for another whipping...Billy Buck, Dustin Knight, and Ashworth finally hit the ring to run off the heels.

T.V. Champion Steven Walters & Seth Delay vs. Rave Approved(Mike Posey & Corey Hollis): Posey enlightens us, saying they were disrespected by promoter Franklin Dove. They feel like Walters isn't defending his title often enough and want a title shot after they win tonight...we'll see. (To be fair, I don't think he HAS been defending it as often as a Television Champion traditionally does.) Walters has some fun by relieving Posey of his Rave Approved T-shirt and trying it on for size...the combination of the shirt and bandanna is completed as Walters rips off the shirt Hulk Hogan-style. Walters & Delay clean house with atomic drops galore but Delay misses a flying move and hits the ropes hard. That allows the Rave Approved duo to isolate Seth from his corner...but Seth fights back until he can finally tag Walters. Delay gets back into the fight until Posey pulls him out of the ring...Hollis rams Walters into Delay and Posey on the apron, then hits a gutwrench double-knee backbreaker to pin the T.V. Champion! Posey demands General Manager Brodie Ray Chase's presence to grant them a title shot...Chase agrees that Hollis deserves a shot, but so do Delay and Posey. So...how about a four-way ladder match at Seasons' Beatings? That'll work. Brodiey wonders if the partners will stab each other in the back in pursuit of the belt...hmm.

Mikael Judas vs. Se7en(w/ Jeff G. Bailey): We've finally got these two in the same building at the same time, so let's have these two monstrous former Heavyweight Champions face each other. They come out swinging right away and the referee has his hands full maintaining control...Se7en shrugs off Judas' early assault, but Judas levels him with IT'S THE BIG FOOT. Chokeslam? No, Bailey is quick to run in with a low blow for the DQ...so much for that big main event. Se7en delivers his own chokeslam variation...JEFF G.! GET THE TABLE! Judas fights out of another chokebomb but Bailey re-enters with powder in the eyes! Se7en chokebombs Judas through the table after that...and Brodie Ray Chase arrives to restore order. Brodie orders a rematch at Seasons' Beatings and it'll be falls-count-anywhere...there must be a winner!
