NXT + XPlosion

WWE NXT5.com

Your hosts are Josh Mathews & Matt Striker.

Jimmy & Jey Uso kick off the show but Derrick Bateman interrupts their promo. The Usos wonder if J.T.G. and Tamina Snuka were just playing head games with Bateman...they claimed Maxine Perez had left with Johnny Curtis, but the Usos say they saw Maxine leave on her own. Hmm.

Jimmy & Jey Uso vs. Tyler Reks & Curt Hawkins: The Usos take control in the early going, sending Reks & Hawkins to the floor with stereo clotheslines. However, a foot grab by Hawkins allows Reks to kick Jey in the head on re-entry. Reks & Hawkins are experienced tag team wrestlers in their own right and keep Jey isolated...but Jey stuns Hawkins with a corkscrew forearm and finally makes the tag to Jimmy. The grass hut is on fire and Reks accidentally boots Hawkins off the apron, giving Jimmy the opening to hit the Samoan Drop on Reks. Umaga buttsmash...gets two. Reks stops him with a Flatliner into the turnbuckles...for two. Jimmy gets an O'Connor Roll out of nowhere...for two. Reks mows him down with a clothesline and sets up for the Burning Hammer, but Jimmy counters nicely into a mid-air bulldog! Cover...Hawkins saves. Jey nearly superkicks his partner by mistake but they turn it around into a double-team kick on Hawkins! Jimmy superkicks Reks, then tags Jey in for the Headshrinker Splash and the pinfall!

Backstage, Bateman looks for Maxine...Tyson Kidd hasn't seen her. Neither have Justin Gabriel or Trent Barreta. Instead, he runs into his future mother-in-law...oh boy. She's a bit flirty with Derrick...and that's when Johnny Curtis walks into the scene. Heh. He would never leave with another man's fiancee...but he did spend some time with Derrick's mom last week. Ha ha. Bateman blows his top and the other wrestlers in the area have to hold him back.

Titus O'Neil & Percy Watson vs. J.T.G. & Darren Young(w/ Tamina Snuka): It's all Percy in the early going, but Young cuts him off and delivers a back suplex onto the edge of the ring apron(OW). J.T.G. controls the action, but takes too long going to the second rope and gets dropkicked in mid-leap. Race to tag...tag to Young, tag to O'Neil! Titus cleans house in impressive fashion and hits a shoulderbreaker...for two. J.T.G. backdrops Percy to the apron but Percy drags J. to the floor...Tamina causes a distraction and that allows Young to high-knee Titus from behind and get the cheap rollup pin. O'Neil is frustrated over the loss...it's been a long season. He challenges Young to a one-on-one match next week to settle things for good.

Derrick Bateman vs. Johnny Curtis: So who's the face in THIS matchup?...okay, it's Bateman. Derrick does well for a while but Curtis swats aside his dropkick off the apron and Bateman lands badly on his arm. Curtis targets that arm for a few minutes but Bateman returns fire with a backdrop and neckbreaker...for two. Corner dropkick(IED) connects though he doesn't appear to get all of it...he still goes to the top rope for a cross-body and Curtis rolls through...for two. Bateman recovers with a backslide...for two. Chop exchange leads to a mid-ring collision that stuns both men...and Bateman capitalizes with the Mantastic DDT for the three-count! Enter Maxine Perez...and she doesn't look happy. Apparently Maxine got a different story about Derrick's close encounter with her mother...and she calls the engagement off, giving back the ring! Goodbye Batemax...

TNA XPlosion

Your hosts are Jeremy Borash & Taz.

Samoa Joe vs. Douglas Williams, Maximum Impact Tournament: Hmm, I recall the brackets being slightly different, but okay. (Checking my report from two weeks ago, the brackets originally had Joe vs. Brother Devon and Williams vs. Matt Morgan. Now the brackets have Devon vs. Rob Terry as the final first-round matchup.) So who's the face in this matchup? More importantly, can one of these guys actually win for once? We quickly decide that Joe's the face for tonight as Williams stalls a lot, then takes out Joe with a flying knee off the apron. Williams comes up short on a leapfrog and lands badly on the back of his head...ouch. Douglas returns fire and keeps Joe neutralized...CRAVATE~! Joe powers his way back into the matchup but Williams fights out of a muscle buster attempt to deliver a flying European uppercut off the top rope. Cover...gets 2 1/2. Williams seems to think he can hit the Chaos Theory on Joe...um, no. Joe blocks it and grabs him in the Kokita Clutch...Williams barely gets a foot on the ropes. Williams tries a re-entry sunset flip but Joe catches him with an over-the-shoulder gutbuster. Joe gets him in a modified figure-four/heel hook submission hold and Williams has no choice but to tap out...JOE WINS~!
