TNA XPlosion
Your hosts are Jeremy Borash & Taz.
Frankie Kazarian vs. Samoa Joe, Maximum Impact Tournament: Winner faces Christopher Daniels in the finals. Kazarian and Daniels have plenty of history related to Fortune while Joe and Daniels have their own old rivalry. After working face against Douglas Williams in the quarterfinals, I suspect Joe will be the heel here. Borash plays up their history in west-coast independents for fun...not much feeling-out between these two as they turn up the tempo in a hurry. Kazarian tries to stick and move but Joe powers him into the turnbuckles, sending him all the way out of the ring. Taz pushes his past association with Joe, saying he didn't teach Joe everything but Joe knows some things that he(Taz) doesn't know...remember when commentators helped enhance the product? Kazarian keeps trying to fire back but Joe keeps cutting him off with his power advantage. DUELING CHANTS~! Kazarian gets in a nice slingshot DDT to halt Joe's momentum, leaving both men down. Kaz is the first to go on offense after that...Flying Jalapeno, spinning heel kick, Russian legsweep and middle-rope springboard legdrop...for two. Charge into the corner...is blocked by a VINTAGE~! Joe uranagi. Joe signals for the muscle buster but Kaz fights out of the predicament, only to get powered back into the corner and stunned with a jumping enzuigiri. This time, the muscle buster is delivered as advertised and Joe gets the big victory!
Next week: Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels in the Maximum Impact Tournament finals.
WWE Superstars.com
Your hosts are Josh Mathews, Matt Striker, & Scott Stanford.
Yoshi Tatsu vs. Tyson Kidd: It's an understatement to say that these two know each other. The two trade pinning combinations for several early two-counts before settling into YAY WRESTLING~! Yoshi tries going to the top rope early but Kidd catches him in a major-league inverted atomic drop on the landing...Tyson shows off his own footwork with a nice spinkick and gets a near-fall. The momentum swings a few times and Yoshi unleashes his lethal kicks, delivering a modified Shining Wizard for a near-fall. Tatsu readies the big roundhouse kick but Kidd dropkicks the knee to counter. BRAINBUSTAH~!...for 2 1/2. Superplex setup ends badly for Kidd as Yoshi fights him off...then nails the spinning heel kick off the top for the victory!
Trent Barreta vs. Darren Young: Haven't seen Young outside of NXT in a while. Trent makes the same mistake as Yoshi, going to the ropes too early and getting nailed in mid-springboard. Young delivers a killer back suplex onto the edge of the ring apron...OW. Young slows the pace but Barreta surprises him with a small package...for two. Young keeps up the pressure, but a back suplex off the top goes awry as Trent fights him off and nails the Whisper In The Wind! Cover...for 2 1/2. A slugfest ends in Trent's favor via jumping enzuigiri but the Gobstopper Knee misses and Young hits a tilt-a-whirl gutbuster...for two. Trent flips out of a back suplex attempt and catches a charging Young with a double-boot out of the corner, driving him right down to the mat with both feet. Barreta goes topside again only to be cut off again...Trent fights him off and attempts a top-rope Frankensteiner, but Young counters into a top-rope Gut Check(Strongbuster) for the three-count!
Alex Riley vs. J.T.G.(w/ Tamina Snuka): J.T.G. tries to antagonize Riley right off the bat...which turns out to be a bad move as Riley immediately goes into attack mode. J.T.G. seeks refuge on the apron and Riley follows him out...but a brief distraction by Tamina allows J. to kick Riley backwards into the ringpost. J. maintains control but can't keep A-Ri down...Riley gets elbowed out of the ring, but J. leans out to grab him and Riley meets him with a dropkick from the floor. El Big Comeback ensues...Final Score(TKO) hits and that's the ballgame. Riley celebrates with the fans after the matchup...
Tag Team Champions Air Boom vs. Tyler Reks & Curt Hawkins, non-title: These teams fought last week with the champs getting the win...will the second time be the charm for Reks & Hawkins? The titleholders look strong in the early going...Reks tries to overpower Kofi Kingston but takes a second-rope version of Shadows Over Hell(bet Evan Bourne recognized that move!)...for two. Kofi seems to hurt his own abdomen in executing the splash and Reks takes advantage with a shoulder to the gut before tagging Curt. Kofi sneaks in an O'Connor Roll on Hawkins for two, then lands a dropkick for another near-fall...but Hawkins rolls out of the ring only to take a huge suicide dive from Kofi! Reks tries to run interference only to take a flying double-knee off the apron from Bourne!
Bourne keeps the momentum against Hawkins, but Reks distracts him from climbing the ropes and then plants him with SOYLENT GREEN~! Hawkins quickly covers...but Kofi breaks up the pin! Reks & Hawkins enjoy their sustained advantage...but Evan avoids a blind charge into the corner by Hawkins. Tag time?...yes on both sides! Kofi springboards into a huge clothesline on Reks and cleans house, but Reks avoids Trouble In Paradise and powers Kingston into the turnbuckles. Double-jump half-turn cross-body off the top by Kofi...gets two. Bourne re-enters to dish out some punishment on both opponents...and Kofi levels Reks with Trouble In Paradise on the second try! Tag to Bourne for the shooting star press and the three-count is academic!
TNA Impact
Your hosts are Mike Tenay & Taz.
Women's Tag Team Champion Madison Rayne(w/ Women's & Women's Tag Champ Gail Kim) tries to fire Tara Varon and Brooke Tessmacher, but she's overruled by Sting who confirms that Madison DOESN'T have any executive power after all(Rayne claims Karen Angle-Jarrett gave her that power after she was fired)...
A.J. Styles & Frankie Kazarian vs. Abyss & Scott Steiner, Wildcard Tag Team Tournament: Abyss & Steiner appear to be on the same page as Abyss overpowers both opponents, but then he tags in Steiner and turns on him with a Blackhole Slam. That allows Kazarian to get the pin on Steiner, much to Bully Ray's dismay...Abyss vs. Ray is set up for Genesis in a Monster's Ball Match.
Anthony Nese vs. Shiima Xion, contract-on-a-pole match: It's the long-awaited return to TNA of...the pole! X-Division Champion Austin Aries does commentary since this match decides one of his challengers for Genesis(Jesse Sorensen and Kid Kash are already in the four-corner match). Nese nearly wins after German-suplexing Xion off the turnbuckles, but Xion sends him flying off the ropes to the floor and climbs the pole to retrieve the contract.
Douglas Williams vs. Phil Gunner(w/ Ric Flair): Gunner's been on a streak of destroying opponents starting with Garret Bischoff and continuing with Jesse Neal...he gets himself DQed by tossing the referee down, but that's not enough for him as he DDTs Williams on the concrete floor and leaves him laying.
Eric Young & O.D.B. vs. Samoa Joe & Brutus Magnus, Wildcard Tag Team Tournament: After some early comedy spots, the Joe/Magnus team cleans house...Magnus picks up the 7/10 split by engineering a collision between the opponents, allowing Joe to finish off Young with the muscle buster. The tournament finals: Styles/Kazarian vs. Joe/Magnus. Hey, this is a winning streak for Joe!
Rob Van Dam vs. Kurt Angle: Looks like the Women's Title match is going on last. Fun matchup between these two as you'd expect...RVD misses the five-star frog splash and Kurt gets him in the anklelock, but James Storm jumps in the ring and levels Angle with a superkick(causing a DQ or no-contest or whatever). There's another match for Genesis.
Women's Tag Team Champion Gail Kim vs. Mickie James for the Women's Title: Tremendous matchup between these two...but the difference is made by a run-in from a disguised assailant who hits a Zack Attack/Rayne Drop on Mickie behind the referee's back. Gail gets the win after that...not surprisingly, it turns out to be Madison Rayne who assisted Gail in the victory.
